Chris Brown’s seizure caused by ‘unfounded legal matters & nonstop negativity’

Believe it or not, I’ve never really wanted Chris Brown to feel any real “eye for an eye” Old Testament justice. Even though he nearly killed Rihanna and he has significant issues with aggression, violence and a hair-trigger temper (not to mention a raging martyr complex), I really just wanted him to go to jail. I wanted him to lose his career and his fans. I wanted him to be punished by the legal system and by the court of public opinion, as opposed to facing some kind of physical harm. That being said, I’m finding it kind of difficult to work up much compassion for Chris regarding some recent health issues. On Friday, Chris had a non-epileptic seizure while he was at a recording studio in Hollywood. I might have been mildly sympathetic, but Chris’s dumb publicist ruined it by issuing one of the most God-awful statements ever.

Chris Brown is on the mend. After reports surfaced that the 24-year-old singer suffered a seizure on August 9 while at a Hollywood recording studio, his rep confirmed the health scare to Us Weekly.

“While in the studio working early this morning, Chris suffered a nonepileptic seizure (NES),” his rep told Us in a statement. “He was not hospitalized. His doctor tended to him this afternoon and attributes the NES to intense fatigue and extreme emotional stress, both due to the continued onslaught of unfounded legal matters and the nonstop negativity.”

Indeed, the “Home” crooner seemed to not be in the best spirits this week. On Tuesday, Aug. 6, a day after he spent 45 minutes in jail for a hit and run, he tweeted to his followers that he’s may be ending his musical career.

“Don’t worry, mainstream America,” he wrote in a tweet that was later deleted. “After this X album, it’ll probably be my last album.”

“Being famous is amazing when it’s for your music and talent,” he continued. “I’m tired of being famous for a mistake I made when I was 18. I’m cool and over it!”

Brown was presumably alluding to his 2009 assault of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

The singer, who’s currently linked to model Karrueche Tran, did get some support earlier this week from fellow R&B artist Jason Derulo. “The Other Side” singer, appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Aug. 7, was asked about Brown’s tweet, which hinted that his end in music was near.

“I just think there’s a lot of pressure in the public eye and times can get really get rough for any performer,” Derulo, 23, offered. “So keep him in your prayers and hope for the best for him.”

On Saturday, Aug. 10, Brown wrote, “They won’t love u until u r a memory…”

Brown’s upcoming album, X, releases Aug. 26.

[From Us Weekly]

Every single one of you who called Chris out for being a whiny, sucky baby on last week’s post… all of you are to blame! Every time we call Chris a sucky baby, an angel loses his wings and Chris has a seizure! You’ll notice that the statement did not come from Chris’s doctors – this was not, like, an official medical statement in which some white-lab-coat-clad doctor stepped in front of the microphones and said, “The cause of the seizure has been attributed to anti-Breezy h8rs.” Back here in reality, I bet “stress” was one of the contributing factors. The smoking and the drinking probably didn’t help either – he could have simply been dehydrated. Or it could have been drugs too, which is why he didn’t want to go to the hospital. Just sayin’.

Right, H8te, Not Sizzirp like all these idiots keep doing, got cha asshole (super coincidental how Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and a a bunch of these dudes are now “epilleptics” ok)

And guess what? When you are a memory we wont miss you or love you, see Ike Turner

    • Elizabeth says:

Seriously! That sizzirp stuff is disgusting. Hadn’t even thought of that – bet you’re right that its linked to seizures.

Also, LOL at Ike Turner… So true!

    • blue marie says:

+1.. couldn’t have said it any better.

    • Lucrezia says:

Drugs were my first thought too, but drug-induced seizures are epileptic seizures. (Epileptic seizure doesn’t mean you necessarily have epilepsy, it’s just about how the neurons in your brain are firing.)

Of course, it’s possible he’s wrong about it being non-epileptic (either lying or honestly mistaken/misdiagnosed). You can’t 100% tell the difference unless you have someone hooked up to an EEG at the time.

      • Viola says:

I agree. Drugs wouldnt cause a non-epileptic siezure. Dunno but I am inclined to believe the stress explanation. Its a good idea that he go away for awhile. He can learn to calm down and the public can have a chance to forget too.

I guess I am sympathetic. On a side note, I never got why Chris had a bigger career than Jason, who can sing and dance. Or Neyo who is a tripple threat as he also writes. Or even Trey Songs who cant dance but is much cuter and sings better.

      • Lady D says:

@Viola: Drugs do cause non-epileptic seizures. I watched my son’s dad have seizures for 5 years. He would do pills for 2-3 months, then have a seizure when he ran out or couldn’t score any more. This happened many, many, times, and it was drug related withdrawal every time.

      • Lucrezia says:

@ Lady D: Withdrawal seizures ARE epileptic seizures. He doesn’t have epilepsy, but that’s still an epileptic fit.

Epileptic seizure causes = epilepsy, drug overdose, drug withdrawal, low blood sugar, fever.

Non-epileptic seizure causes = high blood sugar, fainting, head injury, migraine.

      • Lady D says:

Thank you Lucrezia. I didn’t know that about seizures.

      • Lucrezia says:

No worries, you learn something new every day 🙂

I only bought it up because the statement seemed worded to emphasize that, as a non-epileptic seizure, it definitely couldn’t have been drug related. (However, I’m not sure I actually believe the statement. I’m definitely giving it the side-eye.)

    • Kiddo says:

But there would be no need for drank, if everyone only treated him better. So it’s still your fault. Or my fault, or someone’s fault. Also, I love how everything in the entertainment business boils down to “dehydration”. Too bad there isn’t a cure for that yet. Maybe we should invent something, like water.

    • LadyBird83 says:

Your comment couldn’t be more perfect.

    • Shannon says:

Yeah it’s too suspicious. It’s drug related for sure.

    • gg says:

Who has an actual seizure and refuses to go to the hospital to find out what kind of danger they’re in or what it was caused by?

I seriously question whether he even had a real seizure and if this is all just for attention. He probably just passed out from drug and alcohol poisoning.

  2. LAK says:

That was the funniest PR statement in a very long time.

    He should take up comedy.

H8ters be hatin’ as a reason for a seizure!!!!!

…..because all the raging and recreational substances are really nutritious and promote good health.

    • mom2two says:

So negativity causes seizures? I bet the medical community is shocked by that. I wish Chris Brown would make good on his promise and retire from public life.

    • emmie_a says:

Yes it was! I almost thought it was a joke because who blames their health woes on their haters?? I mean it is medically possible but who actually says that?

btw, I’ve never realized what a sinister sort of look he has to him. That first pic gives me the creeps.

  3. Erinn says:

So if we all continue to hate on Chris, we could potentially do him in?

  4. HH says:

Kudos to using the douchiest pic you could find for the first picture.

  5. Tapioca says:

Mmm… yeah, Chris – a “mistake” is forgetting to turn the toaster down before you stick a Poptart in, or wearing odd socks.

    As for the rest, diddums!

  6. LahdidahBaby says:

The deadliest cocktail: Self-worship, sexual opportunism, domestic violence, and a hit of sizzurp. Urp.

  7. CF says:

Ah of course, the hater induced seizure. sounds very official

  8. Lucy2 says:

Yeah, it’s the negativity. Not the endless rage, not the drugs. It’s people who don’t like him. Sure.
One mistake? Does he need us to make a list of all his violent and horrible acts? And wasn’t he older than 18 when that all went down?

  9. allons-y alonso says:

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  10. janie says:

Oh please… He must think everyone is as stupid as him! Stress & negativity? It amazes me that he still won’t take responsibility for his actions. Being a jerk doesn’t cause seizures.

    • Marjalane says:

Pretty sure his publicist knew what he better say about Chris’ condition, or suffer his own beat down!

  11. Katie says:

I can’t stand him, but he is right about one thing – people love you when you’re dead and they recreate your past/become a huge fan (bonus points if they make a movie about you). (I’m not saying that’ll happen for him, but it wouldn’t surprise me if people change their minds about him, given how dumb and/or trashy 95% of Americans are.)

  12. NerdMomma says:

    Facts: cocaine overdose = seizure. Brown refused medical treatment. 2 + 2 = 4

  13. Myra says:

Classic batterer, he’s always the victim. Can’t wait for his 15 minutes to be up. Just go away and take the bieb wit you!

  14. Mia 4S says:

I know publicists often have to just grit their teeth and get through it but…wow that is painful. I know his idiot fans will defend him saying it was the doctor’s diagnosis…you know like Michael Jackson’s “doctor”, or Lohan’s Adderall supplier. So virtuous those Hollywood doctors! 😉

I think the best thing is for the poor baby to take a loooong vacation…at the Arctic Circle.

  15. freeloveforall says:

Stress induced? Why aren’t the rest of us suffering from seizures? We all have stress. Welcome to the real world.

  16. Jane says:

    *cough* PUBLICITY STUNT *cough*

  17. fingerbinger says:

I love how Fist is blaming stress. He’s been looking and acting like a straight up crackhead for the last few years.

  18. BestJess says:

This douchebag’s PR flunkie clearly deserves a Nobel prize, being able to pin a seizure, which had nothing at all to do with amphetamines, on ‘negativity’ wow what an amazing medical discovery.

  19. Jacqueline says:

Wah, wah! Poor little bitch. Let me call the Wahhhh-mbulance.

  20. Jaded says:

Here’s the statement that should have been released:

“Mr. Brown did a bit too much coke which is affecting his brain function. As you all know cocaine’s effects on the brain may include seizures, impaired thinking, confusion, anxiety, or anger. Tempers are often short, panic attacks common, and users may suffer from “cocaine psychosis” – violent erratic, or paranoid behavior.

Please join with me in wishing Mr. Brown a speedy recovery and continued good health.”

    • Tara says:

Totally! Jaded, you win the “internets” today… along with the person who coined “HIS”… Hater-induced-seizures.

  21. Nicolette says:

Classic a**hole, who suffers from the same inability to ever point that all accusing finger at himself.

  22. ZigZagZoey says:

If haters could cause seizures, there would be SO MANY other celebs writhing on the ground constantly!

  23. Suzy from Ontario says:

This is such bull. He causes his own negativity by brushing off something horrible and serious as some minor past mistake he made and constantly throwing himself pity parties. There are a lot of talented singers in the world who deserve his fame and wealth. Life is truly unfair that someone who is barely literate, and definitely narcisstic, rude and has virtually zero personal insight or maturity is rich and famous. If I was his record company I’d kick his a** to the curb but these days it seems like it’s all about rotten behaviour and blaming everyone else for everything. Boo hoo Chris, go cry into your bags of money. You make me want to puke!

    • msw says:

Unfortunately, he still has tons of apologists who think beating the shit out of his girlfriend is no big and she probably did something to deserve it.

  24. snappyfish says:

    ugh. I can’t with this d-bag.

  25. Beth says:

    Whiny little bitch!

  26. Adrien says:

Chris is lucky he still has a career. He is treated like a pariah because he is not remorseful. He’s blaming everyone. Some struggling and talented musician who hasn’t hit anyone would love to have a his huge following. Chris should be grateful.

  27. msw says:

Too bad he lacks insight into why so many people refuse to forgive him. Some of it is because they think being young and the incident happening several years ago isn’t a good enough excuse, and beating someone up like that is unforgivable. The rest of the “haters” haven’t been given any reason to forgive him because his behavior and his outlook haven’t changed. He’s still the victim, he’s still a rage machine. Everyone’s just waiting on him to blow his stack again, and hopefully he won’t kill someone when he does.

This dude must share a publicist with Leann.

  28. Laura says:

People, people….really we should be more gentle with our words towards our little lambie chrissy-poo. All these harsh vibes will cause the man to have a god-damned relapse! where is your compassion!!!

    snort

  29. babythestarsshinebrite says:

Chris Brown IS A VICTIM…a victim of his own mistakes, that is.

  30. TG says:

I don’t feel sorry for this abusive man child but I do believe that severe stress can cause seizures. Though how this unapologetic woman-beater can be stressed is beyond me since he has done nothing to try to change. Years ago when my brother was in high school he started having seizures and he was diagnosed with epilepsy (not sure how they make that diagnosis, especially because he went to a small town doc). I don’t remember how long this went on but eventually he stopped having them. I used to be afraid when my parents left us alone with him too because he was mean and dangerous. I know he was picked on severely by my even older brother’s and at school and on the bus. Not to mention my mom was abusive to him as well. My mom would claim that he was healed by it (since that was her religion), but to this day I think it was stress. It has been over 20 years and no seizures or problems and in fact he has been a truck driver for a large trucking company. I know for a fact he doesn’t have epilepsy. Also he is very nice now and great with kids. I think it was severe stress. I really hate that people are allowed to harm others in this way.

  31. Relli says:

SO wait is he like Tinkerbell if we clap our hands and believe all will be OK? Excuse me while I go find some hand glue…..

  32. Camille (TheOriginal) says:

    Awwww, poor diddums. *eye roll*

I can’t muster up any sympathy for this raging a**hole.

  33. Ruffian9 says:

    “They won’t love u until u r a memory…”

    Not even then, hotshot.

  34. jaye says:

If negativity causes seizures, I should be spending most of my time at work on the floor convulsing. I can’t with this dumbass.

  35. Onyx XV says:

    Once a b*tch, always a b*tch.

  36. Dommy Dearest says:

If it’s not on video it didn’t happen. Just another attempt to gain sympathy for Ike Brown.

  37. Lark says:

He’s a total and complete dickbag who makes it worse for himself. That said, I never understood how people don’t drag the other actors, athletes, and musicians who have committed domestic abuse and sweep it under the rug. People throw a shit-fit over Simon Cowell or Brangelina’s origins 8 years later, but Sean Penn’s domestic abuse is “forgotten” along with Terrence Howard’s latest physical abuse.

  38. Tara says:

    A drug-induced seizure most likely

  39. Grumpycat says:

OH COME ON. this is like in The Christmas Story when Ralphie imagines he goes blind from the soap.

    No Chris, just no.

And, if he refused medical treatment is the “non epileptic” part of the diagnosis made by Chris and his publicist? Because that is exactly what I would diagnose as well if I just had a seizzurp..

  40. Yelly says:

Was he sippin’ on some sizzurp.

  41. HK9 says:

So you’re telling me that it’s possible to give this asshat a seisure because I think he’s an asshat???? This is me doing my BEST carebear stare. 🙂
