Kate Beckinsale’s daughter is following in her parent’s footsteps, and starred in a local production of Mamma Mia. Lily’s father is Michael Sheen, who starred beside kate in Underworld.
The former couple’s daughter, who turns 10 later this month (Jan09), attends an after school club for budding stars and impressed an assembled crowd when she performed the lead part of Sophie in the ABBA-inspired adaptation.
But the youngster also had to take on a male role during the show – which she ended up enjoying a little too much.
Sheen tells WENN, “Lily did a production of Mamma Mia! with her local drama group before Christmas where she surprised us all by being able to sing brilliantly.
“She played Sophie – the starring role! In one performance she was Sophie and in the other one she played the guy Sophie gets married to, but because it was all girls they just cut all the boy parts.
“She had to draw a moustache on herself for the second performance and get married to Sophie – that was her favourite bit!”
But Sheen is convinced Lily won’t make the transition to Hollywood when she is older – because she prefers to be behind the camera.
He adds, “She’s a writer, she wants to write. It’s what she loves doing, so she will probably do a bit of that.”
My first thought was “I hope she’s a better actress than Kate’ who seems to be known for B-grade vampire flicks. Then I remembered that when Kate wasn’t much older than Lily (19) she appeared in Much Ado About Nothing, playing Hero alongside Emma Thompson, Denzel Washington, Keanu Reeves and Kenneth Branagh. Kate was lucky to just not get acted off the screen. She was also fairly impressive in The Aviator playing Ava Gardner.
Given that Lily looks like a mini-Kate, she’s going to be able to trade off her looks and famous parents for at least a while, and I applaud Kate for keeping Lily’s acting at an amateur level while she’s young.

Wow so Kate was only about 25 when she had her daughter, quite young. She’s definitely a clone though, the likeness is amazing!
Does the little girl look a lot like Kate Hudson’s little boy, or is that just me?
I really thought the header pic was of Ryder too.
What’s his last name? Hutchinson?
Maybe Lily’s lucky enough to get her father’s acting abilities to couple with her mother’s looks. If so, then look out, world!
You have to give Kate, Michael and Kate’s husband a lot of credit. The three of them seem to be a great parenting trio.
Umm, Kate is actually quite a good actress. It’s YOUR problem that you’ve only seen her in Underworld and Van Helsing. Check out Snow Angles, Laurel Canyon, Cold Comfort Farm, etc.
