On Wednesday Kaiser mentioned Mariah Carey treating husband Nick Cannon like her assistant during the inauguration. She also noted that Mariah’s brand of crazy is pretty harmless. Very true – but still fun to mock. Apparently Mariah was unhappy with the seating arrangements in D.C. No, not because some really tall guy was blocking her view. In fact she had lovely digs in a special celebrity section. You’d think that’d be enough for her, right? I mean she didn’t have to congregate with the general masses.
But for some reason Mariah was under the impression that she’d be seated with the Obama family. Yeah, that’s right, the seating order should have gone Barack, Michelle, Mariah, Sasha, and Malia.
SOME divas cling to their high-maintenance ways even at moments of historic national import. Mariah Carey, who performed at the Neighborhood Ball for President and Michelle Obama, was “furious” when she found out where she’d be seated for the inauguration.
A spy said, “Mariah was in the VIP area, where every celebrity, like Jon Bon Jovi, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys and Bruce Springsteen, was seated. But somehow she thought she’d be up with the Obama family. When she realized she wasn’t, she bailed.”
A rep for Carey declined to comment.

I really don’t want to laugh at someone being so stupid… but I mean come on! How in the world is anyone so self-centered that they could assume they’d be sitting with the president’s family? That just makes no sense to me. There’s crazy, and then there’s dumb. And unfortunately Mariah is clearly a sad combination of both. I would be totally mortified if I’d made such a stupid blunder. But then to draw more attention to it by leaving… that’s just sad.
Mariah, you are a B-list celebrity. You’d still be on the C-list if it weren’t for randomly marrying Nick Cannon, which confused everyone. Even for you, it’s time to deflate the ego a bit.

lol, the inauguration was rife with divas all jostling to be near the obamas and throwing hissy fits when they weren’t. they’re not politicans, so they need to get over themselves. if they were senators and congresspersons, then yeah, i could understand, but just coz you call yourself a celebrity doesn’t mean you get everything you want, and especially not on barack’s blackberry contact list, lol.

There were celebs near the Barack family. The difference between them and Mariah is those celebs worked closely with the campaign, were part of the ceremony, or were actually friends of Obama. Why would she be anywhere near him when she didn’t do anything?

OK, I could feel bad for her for misunderstanding…I mean, hey, celebs are used to getting the best seats at restaurants and on planes…why not expect to have them at the inauguaral ball?

Why does anyone expect actors and singers to be smart? We have this tendency to equate intelligence with success and vs. vs. so we tend to think that these successful musicians, actors, etc. must have at least AVERAGE intelligence (and their PR people work hard to make that seem true)
But I’ve noticed so many of them are really just not that bright.
Mariah Carey’s Father is black, he left her mother when she was small and she had little to no contact with him, she was raised by her mother who is white. Maybe this is why she felt she should be seated next to the President.
