The trailer for The Other Woman has arrived, and the movie looks a lot better than I expected. Romantic comedies aren’t what they used to be. Nobody makes movies like When Harry Met Sally anymore! Instead we usually get crap like Bride Wars where two best friends act like total jerks while humiliating themselves over their competing wedding ceremonies. God, I hated that movie because it was so demeaning to women. I also hate that Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson took paychecks for that crap. Sadly that movie fits the recent trend of romcoms, which perpetuate the stereotype of petty, materialistic, warring women. Spare me, Hollywood.
Now The Other Woman looks fun and doesn’t “hilariously” pit women against each other for the sake of a man’s affections. Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, and Kate Upton star as, “the lawyer, the wife, and the boobs,” respectively speaking. They all figure out that the same guy is yanking all their chains, so they team up to teach him a lesson. There’s never any question of them knocking each other around to “win” the man. This looks really funny and like a good female-bonding movie. Here’s the trailer:
So what do you think of Kate Upton’s big breakout in movies? She’s had a few minor film roles before, but this is the first time she’s getting some good airtime. Of course her rack is jiggling all over the place, and girl does look good. I think she’s supposed to play an airhead, which is exactly what she’s pulling off in the trailer. Leslie Mann is so lovely. I know some people don’t dig her and think she gets her roles because of her husband, Judd Apatow. To be fair, she appears in many of Judd’s films, but she holds her own well enough.
What I really like about this movie is how these women stick together and don’t even consider fighting over the loser guy. That’s pretty awesome.

Can she be worse than Brooklyn Decker in that Adam Sandler movie? I hope not.
I think Brooklyn is a fine actress. She was alright in Battleship, and she’s hilarious in her guest appearances in “The League”
I found her painful in the Adam Sandler one. I didn’t see battleship, or the league appearance. I saw her in a couple interviews following the Sandler movie, and I just cringed. Hopefully she got more comfortable acting. I just found that they had essentially hired her for her boobs, and didn’t really care how well she did the job outside of that.
I forget just how tall she is until looking at these stills. Doesn’t look like she can act much but her jiggly girls look speculator. I don’t care what anyone says, Kate is absolutely gorgeous.
She doesn’t have the best body, but her face is amazing. Leslie is pretty, but Cameron looks rough. Nicki Minaj is quite pretty when her makeup isn’t all over the place.
Anyway, the movie looks good. Plus, Jaime Lannister is there.
I adore Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, but I wish he’d play a nice guy once in a while. The only film I can think of where he was vaguely nice is that horror movie Mama with Jessica Chastain . . .
Anyway, this is definitely going on the watch list. It’s nice to see that they’re not at each other’s throats.
I would argue that Jaime Lannister is a nice guy. Sort of. Maybe. I hope. Yes.
Speaking of Jessica Chastain, I’ve just seen her YSL add, and it was the first time I really thought she was stunning.
There are worse than him, I’ll say that much. Kinda difficult to ignore the whole Cersei thing though . . 0_o
Just started watching the GoT boxset since I don’t have Sky, honestly I was quite stunned at the beginning!
Did you read the books? It makes a difference seeing things from his perspective. And even though there is no chance of him and Brienne ever actually getting together, I still ship them ( that sounded like I was 12).
Doesn’t have the best body? Lol, this world has some major issues when THAT “isn’t the best body”!!!!!
She has a beautiful face and a magnificent rack, but her stomach, hips and legs aren’t all that much, for model standards.
Can’t wait to see it – the trailer looks so good. I need a lighthearted movie right now.
I agree! It looks pretty funny and maybe even girl empowering, too.
That was my 1st thought with this movie. That it was refreshing to see women band together instead of fighting each other for a man.
Side note; Kate upton’s boobs are pretty amazing. And if they are real like I have heard than, wow!!
I need a lighthearted girly film after a week at my friends with kung fu and action films (love them, need a break).
Looked on Netflix but all the girly films are so catty. I might actually give this one a go, it looks like a bit of fun 🙂
That looks very cute. I forgot how charming Cameron Diaz can be. And Jamie Lannister as the jerk man? Awesome.
Jamie Lannister! I couldn’t put my finger on where I had seen him. Thanks!
The movie looks blonde. Very, very blonde.
I know, my first thought was “that’s a whole lotta blonde”.
It reminds me of The Witches of Eastwick, but they are missing Cher!
Leslie reminds me a lot of that actress who was in Eastwick, the TV show, not the movie.
This reminds me of John Tucker Must Die but for older people
This! I loved John Tucker Must Die! This movie reminds me so much of it.
I thought of john tucker must die too. I enjoyed that movie!
Uh, it looks like the First Wives Club
I like Diaz but I’ll wait for the DVD.
I still don’t get the hype about Upton. Her claim to fame is being cute with big boobs.
I just don’t get the hype about Kate, she’s cute but I wouldn’t say gorgeous and her body type is odd. I don’t think she’s fat but I don’t think she’s fit either, I think it’s a mixture of skinnyfat and a very boxy torso. I love Leslie Mann.
I wish they would make a great rom-com again like When Harry Met Sally, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Pretty Woman, Sleepless in Seattle, As Good as it Gets, Jerry Maguire, About a Boy, Chasing Amy, Bridget Jones Diary (the first one), Love Actually, Four Weddings and a Funeral.
I can’t remember the last time I saw a smart, funny, satisfying romantic comedy. I’ve seen some good ones, not any great ones recently.
I know, I can’t think of any recent ones that were good. They’re either generic and forgettable, or get pretty dark.
This looks kind of cute, and I agree it’s nice to see the women band together instead of plotting against each other to win a jerk.
Its strange but I think some of the least sexist romcoms with the wittiest dialogue are those from the 30’s and 40’s, Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire, Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant, Rosalind Russel or James Stewart with anyone…such amazing onscreen banter and some genius one liners and insults.
I love Leslie Mann. She is a bit one note, but she’s consistently funny and usually goes all in. Can’t wait for this movie.
I actually think Leslie Mann is one of the funniest comedic actresses out there. I always enjoy her performances, she was particularly fun in This is 40.
Yea, This Is 40 was pretty much her movie, she definitely held her own. My favorite movie scene of hers is when she mocks Eric Bana’s accent in Funny People. That was the best part of the film
I love Leslie Mann, but I hated this is forty. I found it depressing and I really hope my forties are nothing like that.
Man, how does Cammy get her arms to look like that?
I am not normally a chic flick girl….but I am dying to see this now!
OMG!! The Kingslayer! Yay!! looks like a fun movie to go with with girl friends. 🙂
I knew I recognized him, I just couldn’t place him. Thank you!
I’ll wait til is on hbo but I wont switch the channel…seems like a good movie for a girls night in with my sister or something
It looks cute although I’m not usually into chick-flicks. In support of a movie where the women are not fighting over the guy, I will make a point to go see this in the theatre, first weekend.
Cameron has the best legs ever!
SO jealous!!!!!!!!
So it’s like a grown-up version of John Tucker Must Die? Sounds good!
Ha! Exactly!
So it’s like a grown-up version of John Tucker Must Die? Sounds good!
“Sadly that movie fits the recent trend of romcoms, which perpetuate the stereotype of petty, materialistic, warring women. Spare me, Hollywood.”
Sure. Because there aren’t plenty of women out there-many of whom get profiled on this site regularly-who ARE petty, materialistic and “warring” ? God. I can’t tell you how sick I am of this idea that “sisterhood” or whatever means that you are expected to turn a blind eye to all unacceptable or bad female behavior as long as you too have a vadge. There are just as many rude, inappropriate, obnoxious, pushy and petty women out there as there are men. Just because H’Wood doesn’t make movies about say, fighting grooms to be-I’ve never known any in my personal life-that means making a funny movie that points out bad behavior between two female friends/neighbors/coworkers should be totally off limits lest it be “anti-women”? *Gives up*
Is “the hot brother” Taylor Kinney? He is so freaking hot, but he’s Lady Gaga’s boyfriend, so he must be bat sh*t crazy, right?
I totally want to see this movie.
This just reaffirmed my love for Cam! so much spunk and so charming. Girl crush.
This actually looks pretty funny–I might go and see it if they play it where I live.
And meh, on Bride Wars. That film further proves my thinking that Anne Hathaway is just a mediocre actress with no IT quality at all–I’ve never seen her in a film where I think she elevated the material or where I couldn’t see anyone else playing her character but her (no matter how crappy the movie).
@Virgilia: Ever seen “Rachel Getting Married”? I’m mostly with you in your assessment of Anne, but I absolutely ADORE that movie and she is a huge part of the reason why 🙂 Her portrayal of a struggling addict was for sure Oscar worthy and I thought she got totally robbed of it that year…
I also really, really liked her as Selena Kyle in “The Dark Knight Rises” too. I never for a second that that Hathaway would be capable of playing “sexy” or even remotely “sexual” but her portrayal of Cat Woman made me eat my words!
She was really good in Rachel Getting Married, though I despised every minute of that movie.
I think she’s a pretty solid actress, but her off-screen eagerness and award desperation was just too much last year. She has kept a low profile since though, which I think was a good move.
I actually think that movie was only bearable because of Anne Hathaway. She was amazing in everything I ever saw her in. In my opinion,She’s one of the most talented young actresses in Hollywood. She’s also beautiful and I like her personality, never got the Hathahate.
Now guess who my favourite actress is? 😀
I did like Anne in The Dark Knight Rises, never saw Rachel Getting Married–but I do stand by my assessment. I think that she is an okay actress, I wouldn’t NOT see a movie that she was in, but I wouldn’t be excited about a film because she was in it. I don’t know–I find her capable, but I don’t think that she’s that good. I think that she’s a very hard worker when it comes to her work, I like that about her.
I think of Anne as a very try hard geek. I will never forget the 2008 actor’s round table, when she admitted that she googled herself, only after RDJ said he did, basically when she felt that it was ‘cool’ to say so. I think she was nervous, but still. She rambled and tried soo hard to be deep.
The one thing I didn’t like about her campaign last year was that she spent most of it making a huge point about not wanting to divulge how she lost the weight for Les Mis, because she didn’t want to encourage that among young people, but then said it (I just had to stop eating) about a month or so before the Oscars. And then the whole faux baby voice when she won the Oscar. Or when she interrupted the producer’s speech at the golden globes, and then spent the entire speech hugging up on Amanda Seyfried while the producer was making his speech. Or when she made that fuss about her name being spelled wrong (on the teleprompter thing, NOT on the award), during her speech.
I don’t mind her most of the time, but last year she was annoying.
I agree on all the Girl Power stuff, but I’m still chuckling at the idea of Cameron Diaz as a lawyer. I just keep thinking of her spread-eagle Terry Richardson pictorial. Ugh.
I think Kate Upton will do well in this movie. This is a good start for her. And I LOVE Leslie Mann. I just think she’s the cutest. I always enjoy her characters. I don’t really care for Cameron Diaz, but I’ll put up with her in this case.
I wish people would stop giving Upton such a hard time because of her body type. She’s an apple- slender arms and legs, big chest, thicker waist, flatter ass. She has a small waist to hip ratio. We’re used to seeing models with boyish or rectangular shapes. It’s kind of nice to see an apple body shaped swimsuit model.
Oh, and I LOVE Leslie Mann, I think she’s hilarious. I like Cameron Diaz too, great comedic timing. For sure going to check this movie out. It’s nice to see women goofing around and laughing their asses off together like I do with my friends.
Kate Upton is adorable. Wish people would stop tearing apart someone’s body. She’s gorgeous just as she is.
Yes, Kate is adorable and her body is amazing. She looks all natural, which is a breath of fresh air. I find it charming that her body doesn’t look like she works-out three hours a day, every day. She just happens to be blessed with a sexy, beautiful body.
Agreed! Plus, as an apple myself, it’s really in my best interests for her to be held up as a sex symbol. ;). (Although my boobs aren’t anywhere near as impressive.). I’m not used to seeing swimsuit models with my body type, so I’m definitely pro-Upton.
It doesn’t look funny at all, it’s just a girl power movie. So the only way women can stick together if it’s to ruin a mans life? He only cheated he didn’t do any bad to them, i don’t get the females thought process at all.
But seriously the film looks like shit just because a movie has a female cast doesn’t mean you have to say it’s good.
@Mark: “He only cheated he didn’t do any bad to them”.
Really? Cheating on his wife and all the other women, lying and carrying out a double and even triple life, isn’t doing anything bad to them?
It’s just a silly comedy, but yes the basic idea behind it is that the vast majority of people would say it’s understood that cheating and lying to your loved ones is indeed doing something bad to them…
I can’t wait until GoT comes back, Jaime Lannister’s storyline is one of my favorites. I highly recommend people watch ‘Headhunters’, it’s a Norwegian thriller starring Nikolaj that should still be available on Netflix. As for this movie… it’s not my thing, although I do appreciate the theme (women banding together).
It looks cute, a little piece of lighthearted fluff to watch. Those are some of the movies I like the best, the ones that make you laugh and forget about the crap going on outside the theater.
This looks cute. Like a grown up John tucker must die
Oh I’m sure it’s going to be EXCELLENT lol
I saw the trailer for this yesterday – I’ll be on the look out for this at my local theater. All I’m taking away from these pics, though, is that they’re all wearing warm clothes weather and I’m allllll kinds of jelly! I hate winter!
Cameron might never win an Oscar, but man… I can’t resist her. Even when the movie is mediocre I’m still entertained by her. And I like Leslie Mann as well so I’ll def see this.
