Agreed. Body looks fantastic, face is reminiscent of the 90s when women over-powdered their faces (which clashed with their orange necks) and wore bold lipstick. Ghost-face. Not a great look.

This is the “glory” of that damn gimmicky “mineral makeup”. I can spot it a mile away. It’s nothing but bronzer in different shades. The only thing that makes it different than your usual shades of beige and brown makeup you had to begin with is there is sparkly crap in there to beat the band. What happens when you put layers upon layers of ground up fish scales or whatever on your face and take a photo? All the light the cameras are using is reflected off your pitifully shiny face you just spent hours contouring, and $$$$$ acquiring. Also, if you already have lovely olive skin, don’t try to hide it!, all that fake color is going to make you look waxen.
Solution – leave the mineral makeup alone, there is a damn good reason people weren’t using a bunch of shiny powder all over their faces in the first place. It’s just another marketing gimmick to part you with your money. Face powder should be matte. Shiny face, not good. Rant over.
GG – I totally agree! My mom bought a bunch of bare minerals stuff and then two weeks later went on vacation and she looks awful in all her pictures! She has mega shiny face and though my mother looks great for her age (50) no woman wants to draw attention to wrinkles with shinyness! She threw it all out. Waste of money.
I use mineral makeup because I have really sensitive skin and foundation and most face creams really irritate my face. But I would prefer to not wear anything because the mineral makeup I think actually makes my face look drier and more wrinkly.
Yes, same here with the sensitive skin, I understand. And I have never been able to use foundation so Lancome dual finish powder works well for me. Have you tried Clinique or another hypoallergenic makeup, Wren?
Also I’m in my 50s and really, when your skin starts being less elastic, you don’t want a bunch of sparklies – that’s for young-uns. It calls attention to wrinkles and even creates them and makes even slightly crepey skin look downright ghastly. I have to stick to a good fine-milled matte product with no MickeyMouse going on.
I wear mineral makeup, that is when I actually get around to putting it on, and my face doesn’t look sparkly and shiny. I don’t put the sheer cover powder over the actual tinted foundation powder because that’s what has all of the sparkles in it.
Mineral makeup isn’t the best choice to wear for photos. However, it does an excellent job as a sunscreen. It reflects the light, thus why the flash pictures look horrible.
Not all mineral make up has the shimmering mica pigment in it- try glominerals or Becca.
Camelia, that’s good to know. I was wondering when the backlash against the sparkly stuff was going to emerge. Truthfully, most people that I’ve seen (mostly women past their prime) that use the stuff are not the artistes they think they are.
To the ladies with sensitive skin:
I swear by Clinique. My face rages if I use anything else…bright red and spotted. I have recommended it to SO many people who now feel the love. I never would have thought but it has truly done wonderful things for my sensitive skin. I’ve never gone the mineral route because I’ve always liked full coverage make up…
It’s not necessarily mineral makep she may be wearing. HD foundations and powders create some terrible looking photos, as they were made for tv and movie cameras, not still photography cameras with their powerful flashes.
Also, am I the only one who’s over the HD? I don’t have a need or want to see every pore and hair on a persons face on tv/movies. If I’m watching a documentary on Yellowstone, then by all means, please make that as clear as possible! Anything else, meh.
Her face looks really bloated and kind of lumpy. I don’t know what’s going on there. The red lipstick does her no favors. She looks much better with a more natural, softer look in makeup and hair.
That’s exactly what I thought when I looked at these pictures; that her face looks bizarrely lumpy or misshapen. I wasn’t sure if it was just a bad angle or not though.

The stripes are fine on the skirt- she looks jawdroppingly sexy in it. But the fit of the striped top on her chest is a travesty. As is the over highlighting of her makeup. She’s been BRINGING it the past few months, so I’m giving a pass on this one.
True, she did the right thing by putting her foot down, which seems like more than the others in her family do. However, selecting another athlete with an IQ in the single digits would not be a good move at this point.
I think the stripes would’ve been fabulous, if she’d paired the skirt with a white button down instead of a matching crop top. It’s a little too matchy-matchy for me… And yeah, her makeup artist piled on the highlighter and picked a rather unflattering shade of red.
Didn’t Beyonce wear that same ice skater esque, Marchesa fugness, that JLo wore to the 2013 Golden Globes??? I didn’t see the whole dress, but I thought it was the same. Ugly and tacky. It was worse when JLo wore it because it just showed how dated she was—stuck in the 00s…..when she was IT.
I don’t know exactly when/to what event/ designer but Rihanna wore that same ugly wedding gown mess to some awards show. It was just as ugly then as it is now when beyonce wore it last night.

I think lots of people can wear horizontal stripes. More than one would think. They are not just for the super thin. Giving the illusion of being bigger and smaller in certain areas can be really great.
I think if it was a dress that just was black on the upper portion with a flattering neckline and sleeve length would have looked better.
The crop top can look so cute on some. I adore I high-waisted sailor pant with a striped cropped shirt. So adorable.

I love love love the stripes. When there is a lot of horizontal stripes like the skirt here, it draws your eye up and down, and I personally like the effect as I find it slimming and flattering to my curves. The top is a whole different story. Crop tops do not belong on a grown woman who expects to be taken seriously. At least straighten out the stripes over the breast area.
