Beyonce allegedly fires another manager, will now co-manage her career with Jay-Z?

bey5

I’m not sure what’s going on with Beyonce, but she’s been posting a lot of Throwback photos on her Instagram lately. Is that weird? She goes in phases – sometimes we can go weeks without getting any new photos on her Tumblr or Instagram, and then some weeks she posts like crazy. Anyway, I’m including some new photos (or new-ish) from her Instagram and Tumblr. Bey also “crashed” her husband’s SuperBowl party on Saturday night – some of these photos are from that event, and you can see more here. Apparently, it was the most expensive SuperBowl party of ALL TIME. Because of course.

In other Beyonce news, the UK gossips claim that Beyonce has now ditched her general manager at Live Nation, and Bey is going to manage herself. Jay-Z is going to help?

Beyonce has reportedly parted ways from her manager so that she can run her own affairs with the help of husband Jay-Z. The 32-year-old singer is believed to have ditched her general manager, Live Nation Executive Faisal Durrani, the Daily Mirror reports.

Durrani, 32, is one of several managers that Beyonce has dismissed over the years so that she can run her career with Jay-Z, 44.

In 2011, the Texan singer sacked her father, Matthew Knowles, who managed the star for 21 years since she was in Destiny’s Child in 1990.

She became the president of Parkwood Entertainment, the entertainment and management company that she set up in 2008. But now Beyonce has also allegedly dismissed general manager Faisal so that she can gain even more independence with her husband, who plays an unofficial managerial role.

A source told the Daily Mirror: ‘Jay has been heavily involved in Beyonce’s career for years, and was instrumental in organising the Mrs Carter Show World Tour. But he isn’t officially regarded as her manager – she really is independent.’

The insider added that the couple, who got married in 2008 and have a two-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, want to put family life first.

‘Now the couple have Blue, she wants to make sure her family come first at all times, especially as there’s talk of them adding to the brood,’ the source added. ‘The best way to do that is to make sure all managerial decisions are made by her and her husband – together.’

When Beyonce parted ways from her father, she revealed that their relationship had often been tempestuous. She said: ‘It took about two years, to when I was 20, for him to realise, “Oh, she is an adult now, and if she doesn’t want to do something, I can’t make her do it.’

A representative for Beyonce told Mail Online: ‘Beyonce has managed herself since 2010 under her company Parkwood Entertainment. Faisal Durrani worked for her as President for a very short time.’

[From The Daily Mail]

Eh, I don’t necessarily think this is a bad idea. For a run-of-the-mill celebrity couple, yes, this would be a terrible idea. This is exactly the kind of thing that destroyed Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s marriage – Jennifer gave him too much control over her career, her management, her entourage, all of it. But Jay and Bey are different. I have no doubt that Jay is probably one of Beyonce’s best career advisors, and he seems to genuinely want the best for her and her career. That being said, if this is true and Beyonce has fired another manager, she’s probably going to hire someone else to run the day-to-day management of Beyonce, Inc. I know she’s empowered, strong, etc (whatever this month’s Bey-word is), but no one really believes that Beyonce and Jay-Z are running their many business ventures single-handedly. Also: all of these firings are giving me Destiny’s Child nostalgia. Remember when Destiny’s children kept getting fired? Ha.

Ruh-roh…this could lead to some Tom Cruise career in the ditch decision making…

    • Kali says:

Hmm, not sure if it would. Tom’s “people” were the ones who “encouraged” him to keep the Scientology side of things a bit more on the DL. After he fired them and replaced them with L. Ron approved people, that’s when the crazy was let out to couch jump. I think Beyoncé and Jay would be smart enough to keep any stuff like that quiet.

      • Renee says:

Oh, I don’t mean that the cray would come out. With these two I think that the strangest thing about them is their megalomania. I mean that once that layer of objectivity is gone and her huge ego is in charge of the decision making I don’t think that good things will result. Think super tacky, cheezy things all done in the name of her ART because she is an ARTIST. Of course, I have to say that I already thought that the two of them were running the show and Jay Z might be able to hold her back from going over the edge. He seems like he wouldn’t indulge that kind of thing too much.

    • Kali says:

Ahhhhhhh right, I gotcha. Yeah, you’ve definitely got a valid point. I think at this stage in her career though, there’s no one who would really be able to “manage” her as such so she might as well go this route? I don’t think Jay would let her go TOO “Art, darling, art!” and for all intents and purposes, he seems like a very savvy businessman so she’s pretty safe having him as a partner for this sort of thing. Plus it serves them both for the both of them to be doing very well so I really do think he’d have her back in this regard.

    • kaci says:

lol I would love that Beyonce without the mask!

As though Jay Z has not been running the show behind the scenes forever. So tired of these two and their biggest, most expensive everything.

    • INeedANap says:

I agree. I think they’re so trashy, just two people with no taste spending money because they don’t know what else to do with it. Especially Bey — I cannot fathom for the life of me why people idolize her so much, she’s just another manufactured pop star. I don’t doubt she works hard, and her songs are catchy, but that’s her JOB. That’s what she is supposed to do. Overrated.

      • FLORC says:

Have to agree. Lots of celebs and pop stars throw around cash ad need the most lavish items ever. They’re called out as trash or tacky. Jay and Bey however have a following that will knife you and walk away calming should you ever speak poorly about the super couple.

    • Kate says:

Eliza, your right; Jay Z and his crew have been managing Beyonce since the firing of her father.Who do you think came up with the idea to release her music on iTunes exclusive? definitely not her.

  3. moopsie says:

My first thought when I saw the photo…. she hardly looks like a black woman now. Not that it matters or anything, just an observeration.

    • Renee says:

She looks a bit like Barbie in the first photo, non? The way that she is standing and her hair…

    • Mimz says:

Well thats probably because she never was black… I think the lighter hair makes her look really light but really her skin tone varies with summer/winter accordingly (if you google a little you’ll see she looks darkest/tanned in summer and at her lightest in winter), but she isnt and never was a black woman. she’s creole (or whatever u name it) and like we say here in (southern) africa, this thing of calling people like beyonce and president obama “black” is deserving of a major side-eye.
Nicki Minaj, on the other hand, bleaches and there’s no other way around that.

      • Sassenach says:

Whatever you guys say in Southern Africa about the race of a person with Louisiana Creole ancestry doesn’t matter. I am from Louisiana with creole ancestry (the same as her mother) and I am most definitely black. You will be hard pressed to find a black person in America without any mixed heritage. That doesn’t mean that the majority of Black Americans should go around calling themselves mixed.

      • Jaana says:

Kelly Rowland bleaches too. But nobody ever sees that all they see is Beyonce’ and even Rihanna, who is a green-eyed mixed chick.

      • Mimz says:

Ok I agree with you (and apologize for generalizing) but,
I still think that expecting Beyonce to be a dark skinned black or even a brown girl is unrealistic, she is light skinned always was always will be.
She only looks dark when she’s super tanned. The light hair does make her look like a barbie.

      • BendyWindy says:

I think Beyonce is darker skinned than we realize. She has good lighting and they photoshop her pics. According to L’Oreal, Beyonce and I wear the same shade of foundation and I’m most definitely a medium toned black woman.

    • Jaana says:

She still looks like a black woman. Its winter, black women skin gets paler in the winter plus her white blond weave does help. Don’t even come with the bleaching theory please. That’s old and played out and not true.

    • janie says:

I think they feed off each other’s ego.. They’re both full of themselves. Who rules the world? Clearly they think they do.

    • AlmondJoy says:

So annoyed that people are still making comments like this. My family is filled with lighter skinned black women and I see women that look like Beyonce all the time where I’m from. I guess my aunts and grandmother don’t look like black women either. Black people do not all look the same, we come in many different shades.

      • bns says:

Exactly. Not all black women are dark skinned with afros. IDK what’s so hard to understand about this.

      • AlmondJoy says:

Right! I find it quite insulting.

      • Artemis says:

I think that’s why people love Lupita because a lot of biracial women who don’t fit the ‘stereotype’ are not liked on here or the vitriol is much greater when they say dumb things. Lupita comes along and everybody adores her, nobody talks about Lupita like they talk about lighter skinned women. Same for Viola Davis, she was so much more beautiful when she went natural according to commenters. Like, Davis is beautiful, end of discussion. I don’t know why there needs to be conditions for black people’s beauty/looks/authenticity. That’s just my opinion/observation.

  4. Lark says:

Please, the Daily Fail. I don’t think Bey is going to ditch her manager after the success of her latest album.

  5. Amahle says:

He’s been pulling the strings for years anyway…this is nothing new. That doc-vanity project messiness that she put out a couple of years ago spun all I needed to know about this weird relationship where she basically idolizes him and he controls and babies her. Just like her papa used to do when he managed her but Sean Carter gets to shag her too. Strong woman she is not. She’s surrounded by yes people and PR spin. I am so tired of these two that it’s ridic. Why are they so thirsty? It’s like enjoy your success but nope…always attention-seeking and throwing money away. Her album is horrible. She saw that Rhianna is getting attention and she ganked her style but Beyanna doesn’t translate. And why is this child always in shadow? And um…where is Sean Carter’s other kid? Rumored/confirmed years ago. No one seems to speak about this story anymore since he married Beyonce.

    • Nick says:

You alright over there? Beyoncé got you feelin’ salty huh? Lol

      • Jaana says:

        lol

      • Amahle says:

I’m fine and not salty at all. I made a comment on a celeb-gossip blog referencing rumors, wranglings and truths about these two as separate persons and together that have been circulating for years. I did not go into the juicier aspects that the rumor mills till. The comment I made was throwaway but, wow, if that translates to what is called salty nowadays then, LLS, whatever and okay.

OAN: It is pathological and immature to to attempt to ridicule a complete stranger regarding his or her’s pretty much innocuous statement on a celeb-gossip blog. I have no personal weight in any of this. Just an opinion…like dozens of others here (including you) and I really don’t understand what is so wrong with at least modicum of respect for another’s opinion instead of trying to belittle or be “funny”.

    • bluecalling says:

      LMBAO…
d@mn that was funny AND true

  6. Kaylah says:

Considering she’s been managing herself & is the president of her company Parkwood through which she produces her albums, DVDs etc, I don’t get how she could fire herself to hire herself makes no sense.
She’s said this many times now that she’s in complete control of her career that’s why her last 2 albums were done without the big wigs at Columbia’s seal of approval, I honestly think at this point she doesn’t care what anyone thinks and is going to make her self happy, with that being said this strikes me as incredibly sexist, how Beyonce can’t function without having a man tell her what to do, like it couldn’t have been Beyonce’s wish to show off her weightloss, some man had to be behind her pushing her. Such a bloody sexist stupid to say.

  7. bns says:

The haters are up bright and early!

  8. Mimz says:

I agree that she’s been all up in our faces lately and seeing her every five minutes with some “controversial-not-so-new” stuff, its getting old. And I am a fan (not a stan).
That being said, I think she was in the “good girl extremely private almost ‘perfect’ ” for so long that not that she’s taken control (be it with or without Sean C’s hand) it’s kinda blowing in her face.
She’s doing whatever she wants, singing (very graphic) songs, hinting that they are autobiographical and its just a bit much. There are some really really good songs in her album as well but I think she could have gone the easy-hit way (she has all the songwrites and hitmakes on her team) but she chose this direction.
We as humans are encouraged to at some stage (when we can) let loose, do what we want, how we want, and that’s what she’s doing. And we all hate it.
Should she have stayed the same? Retire when she’s 30? Enjoy her money in silence and disappear?

Gosh we are too harsh on celebrities, forgetting they are people as well.

  9. paola says:

Good. The more they’ll be together the quicker people will get tired of them.
This ‘we’re the hot couple’ thing they’re playing now is a bit too much for me. I thought it was cool that they tried to keep their relationship private and behind closed doors..They went from being ‘strangers’ to kissing and ass-grabbing on stage. Eww.
If it was genuine then yes i’d say it’s nice and sweet but it feels to me like fake and attention seeking.
Maybe I’m wrong but it seems like Beyoncè is trying to sell herself as a new person with her Lipo Thigh Gap, her new sexuality and her ‘crazy in love’ hubby.

  10. Nene says:

    @Paola…agreed with everything you said.

It’s beyond me how some people can’t understand or find it unbelievable that there are different shades of color in every race, be it Caucasians,Hispanics,Africans,Asians and Black Americans.
True, there is always the predominant skin color but there are others too.
Am from West Africa, and you wouldn’t believe the shades of skin color found here. There are brown, mocha, caramel, taupe, light taupe,dark-brown,very pale brown, even albinos.
In my campus I’ve seen few girls like Beyonce so it’s nothing puzzling at all.
In the Solomon Islands and a few of the Islands around it, many of the aborigenes are brown with blonde hair. Incredible right? But it’s true.

  11. rep says:

The we are sooo in love routine seems fake. I always she pics of her mothers, but not his.

  12. itstrue says:

Am I the only one who thinks that picture where Jay is throwing her like his child is strange?

  13. joey says:

32!!!!! Anyway why don’t they just go away, have they not heard of saturating the market too much,?? And I actually like some if her earlier songs.

  14. Snappyfish says:

I love the black Tom Ford dress she wore to the Jay Z party

  15. jferber says:

How is Beyonce really 32? Is there proof of her age that I can google? Or maybe she’s just been around forever so it just seems she’s older? I’d actually say 37. She does look good, but obviously she’s had a lot done.

    • Jarredsgirl says:

Thankyou… I think she looks like an amazing 40 year old. AMAYYYYZZZZZING. But still 40.

    • Artemis says:

She has been photographed and filmed since she was a child and nobody can find evidence of her ‘real age’? She appeared on television since she was a preteen and nobody came out of the woodwork to reveal her ‘real age’? DC’s jilted ex-members never dropped the tea on their lead member? Years ago, there was a birth certificate floating around which happened to be false, of course, but why can’t they just get the real one? In documentaries, teachers have commented on her and the woman who discovered her singing talent was featured too yet nobody is going to drop a huge bombshell, not even for money, on how Beyoncé might be older? Not even her former classmates?

She’s so famous, it shouldn’t be that hard considering nobody was checking for Jessica Chastain’s real age and that was revealed when she got her big break. Then we have nobodies like Gabrielle Union claiming she went to school with Beyoncé or that they were friends and nobody realises it’s to make HER look younger, not Beyoncé look older. Plus she took that statement back when people questioned her.

Fact is, it’s easy to dig up her birth certificate but it doesn’t confirm the conspiracy theory so people aren’t bothered and continue searching for the lies.

B is known for putting work over sleep, years of sleep deprivation + not having Christy Brinkley genes (look at her jowl and she’s prone to weight gain) and people think she can still look this ‘amazing’ at 40? Clearly, the woman is closer to 30 than to 40.

    • bns says:

Without makeup on she easily looks 32.

  16. Fresh says:

Can anyone tell me what the deal is with Yonce’s upper lip in the ‘no makeup’ pic? Does that kind of pucker happen with naturally full lips or is that a sign of plastic surgery? Or something else altogether?
    (thx!)

    • Artemis says:

Natural full lips. I have it too and I’m a broke-ass student so no plastic surgery! It’s weird because I don’t have it all the time when I smile and it feels annoying when it happens.
