I still don’t get it. But I’m buying it more and more with each new photo-op. These are photos of Charlize Theron & Sean Penn leaving Bouchon last night after attending a charity dinner. As you can see, Charlize is wearing lower heels these days so she doesn’t tower over her (average-height) boyfriend. And Sean opened Charlize’s car door for her and he drove her (and some friends) away. It looks like Charlize had to tell him how to work the car too, so I don’t know what that’s about.
I’m telling you, I’m buying it more now that I’ve seen Sean sit with Charlize at the nail salon. That, to me, is a sign of a relationship. When the dude will sit with you and gossip as you get a mani-pedi = real love. The next stage of relationship togetherness is when he drives Charlize to a hair appointment and reads a magazine as her colorist works on her.
That being said, I wish the tabloids had some place to go other than “Charlize and Sean are obviously thinking about marriage and he wants to adopt Jackson.” They’ve been together six weeks. Let’s allow the relationship to percolate in its own time. Also: if she does end up marrying Sean, nothing but chaos will follow.

I think that he is a dick and I don’t buy that he has changed except in a superficial way. He will regress. I don’t like Charlize but I think that she is a bit better than him…she is heaps better looking anyway. The thought of them together makes my stomach queasy because he is so gross to look at. But then I think about Michael K’s post on D-listed where he likens Sean Penn to Alf with Katt William’s hair, and then I laugh and laugh and laugh.

You can be blind in yourpersonal life very easily. Once he shows her he has a temper I hope she runs. We can’t always see the flaws of those close to us. We don’t want to see them. When that flaw is screaming at you though. You can’t always avoid it.
I have always thought her gorgeous but these are the first pics I’ve ever seen of her, EVER, where I’ve thought, meh. I guess the company you keep does influence how the world sees you because when I look at him, all I see is his ragey, roidy temper, a real ugly personality that shines through. I’m sure he has some redeeming qualities but his actions over the years have shown much to be desired in the human being category.

That would depend. I’m German, English and Dutch lineage and I’m 5’6″ which to me is average in America for a Woman. My grandmother was 5’8 however and my mother is 5’3″. My ex-husband and my son who are predominately German heritage are both very tall. My ex being 6’6″ and my son already 5’7″ at 11 years old. My second husband is German and Polish and would be considered a short man in the U.S. At 5’7″. I too wear lower heels so I dont tower over him.

Well, I am German and while I lived in the US I always towered over people, male and female. And I’m “just” 176 cm (5’9). The guys here are definitely taller.

I’m more concerned for her and her son. Though not all fast-moving relationships will end badly, moving a relationship too quickly is a classic abuser move. And Sean Penn has a(n alleged) history of that.
I agree with this. It is classic abuser to move the relationship so quickly. Especially telling that he sits with her at her beauty appointments and grocery shops with her and all the other stuff he never did before with other women when they were long term.
My ex did this as well. Once he is comfortable, the little digs will start and then no more accompanying her to anything like beauty appointments, etc…It’s how they suck you in. I don’t think it’s PR but some of the pictures of them together do look staged. I believe the relationship is real but I think they are calling the paps because she is a mother of a young son and wants to present an image of a changed man who is loving toward her and her son. I think if she didn’t have her son they wouldn’t be photographed as much and would care less what the public thinks.
I think he is using her to let Robin Wright know how much she “didn’t” affect him. He comes across as a complete narcissist and this is a classic move by them. Look how much I don’t care that you are engaged! He was never this open before, the love of Charlize changed him! Take that Robin!

I tend to believe that real relationships in HW remain private. Everytime these celeb couples get photographed, doing things together and pictures pop up every week I feel its more for PR than anything else. Penn, although people don’t like him much has been spending decades in HW, he knows the ropes. Charlize doesn’t have much interesting work lined up, so I guess they are just two actor friends helping each other out. I can think of worse PR couples than those two …
I think to a point it is PR. Both of them prior to getting together manage to avoid gitting pap for the most part. Now they getting pap everywhere and her grabing is butt was a show for the paps and to let us know their together.
This reminds me of when he was with Scarlet Johansson they would put on a great show for the paps and when they broke up they went back to going under the radar.
