Susan Powter to the haters on her website: ‘Who the f’ck do you think you are?’

51 year-old 1990s diet and fitness guru Susan Powter, best known for her “Stop the Insanity” infomercial, has her own community board connected to her blog. Like many before her, she has issues dealing with her haters. She posted a ranting video blog in which she went off on a male board user who was apparently posting rude comments and then mocked the responses from women speculating that she was stressed out.

“Who the f*ck do you think you are? When you’re doing a two hour radio show, then you can talk to me about what I’m doing. If you don’t like it, leave… don’t come on my website… you’re gonna be deleted. I will delete anything I deem deletable. That is my right… anyone who doesn’t understand that is a f’ing moron, and I don’t want them in my community anyway. I don’t want to hear their opinions anyway…

This discussion will end immediately, and anyone who participates in this discussion will be pulled from my community.”

Many of us have issues monitoring comments, but you have to take a kind of detached approach to it and not let it get to you. There are always going to be people talking crap on the Internet, and as one of those people I have learned to kind of see it as noise and not be personally affected by it. How do you think the celebrities deal with all ridiculous tabloid stories about them?

Susan Powter is an intense person with an ego that seems to be more for show than anything else. It’s understandable that she’s pissed off that people are talking smack, but she doesn’t have to explain herself. Maybe she feels that an explanation is owed to people, although sometimes it’s just best to deal with it, ignore it and move on.

Thanks to Star Magazine for featuring this.

Wow, I didn’t even recognize her

  3. Dorothy says:

I can’t believe that she is still getting publicity!

  4. geronimo says:

Don’t know who she is, but doing it publicly is probably as much to do with the ongoing community spirit of the site – her declaring zero tolerance on arseholes disrupting what is a friendly and respectful environment. It’s as much for her online community as for herself. Or something. At least that’s how I read it.

  5. Rreedy says:

OH!MY!GOD!! What a repulsive looking creature. Does this self expression in hair and overall look reveal what she REALLY thinks of herself?

  6. Ponte Neuf says:

I have to wonder what has happened to Susan. In her books, she comes across as being extremely quick witted and intelligent, not to mention that she says many things that are very helpful and true. However, now she… Well, she seems a bit detached from reality, to put it nicely.

I understand that she would be angry at the negative attitude that some people have on her community board, but maybe she wouldn’t invite such derisive comments and aggressive attitudes if she were less erratic and presented herself in a more professional way.

She has the potential to help many people because she is a very well informed and intelligent woman, but sometimes I have to wonder whether she’s high, or her bankruptcy had a serious effect on her sanity.

    hmm..who is she again?

  8. Jann says:

I remember having the burning desire to reach thru my television screen and b*tch slap her if I happened to have the misfortune to land on one of her infomercials years ago whilst channel surfing…
    She is relevant today how?

  9. meredith says:

i still use her ‘lean, strong, and healthy’ exercise tape [on vhs!] because it really works for me. but yeah, she looks totally crazy. has anyone read her new book?

Can we as a society PLEASE retire the phrase “haters” already?

  12. Sunnyjyl says:

Talk about a blast from the past, but wow she looks used up.

And Rio, yep, I’m with you on that and let’s add ‘amen’ while we’re at it.

  17. elsive says:

i’ve seen her in a coffee shop a few times. apparently she’s something of a chatterbox in real life …. a bit much self-expression, doesnt seem to consider the overall effect generally, like most of us – that is, not uptight. pretty normal, quite friendly, not a big hideous star, not a diva, looks fit and trim also. not so shiny as in the pics. a flash will wash you out, yes.

  18. Gary T. says:

    Bravo Ms. Powter!!

People think that they can say Anything Anyway on the internet. I suppose they can – But – That doesn’t make it okay!

Thanks for standing up to these anomynous Bullies!!

  19. Codzilla says:

I’ll gladly let go of “haters”, but I’m gonna take the “from my cold, dead hands” stance in regards to “amen”.

As for Susan, I’ve always thought dreads looked kind of ridiculous on white people. And, uh, I guess that’s all I have to say about that.

I have met her, and worked on a project for her years back. She’s a tad eccentric, very intense, and energetic. She can be a bit overwhelming, and off-putting at times, but she’s good person.
