Angelina Jolie traveled to London, Sarajevo with her new boyfriend William Hague

wenn21217080

Angelina Jolie is on the move! Again. Angelina flew to London Wednesday, then she flew to Sarajevo with British Foreign Secretary William Hague on Thursday. Hague and Jolie are BFFs at this point – he seems to be a full-on Angeloonie and she’s always flying out to support their shared interests. They’ve traveled to Africa together, and he invited her to speak at the G8 summit last year too. Hague has cited Angelina’s film In the Land of Blood and Honey as a catalyst for his awareness campaign to end warzone rape and sexual assault.

Apparently, Hague invited Angelina to a “drinks reception” at the foreign office in London Wednesday evening, followed by dinner (romantic!), followed by breakfast at 10 Downing Street (with Prime Minister David Cameron?!?). Apparently, Hague arranged for a six-motorbike police escort to Downing Street and they even closed off the street for her, which they usually only do for, like, the Queen and an American president. Wow, William Hague knows how to impress a lady, doesn’t he? I’m only half joking, probably because I know the headlines are coming: “Angelina in intimate tête-à-tête with British diplomat, Brad Pitt cries.” After the breakfast with the prime minister (rowr), Hague and Angelina flew to Sarajevo together. Damn. I bet it was a government plane too. Do you think they sat side-by-side? Or did they sit across from each other so he could stare into her hypnotic eyes as he poured her a glass of champagne?

Once they arrived in Sarajevo, a champagne-buzzed (joking) Angelina and William met survivors of sexual violence and some NGO workers trying to help those survivors seek justice. The point of this whole multi-day excursion was to bring awareness to the “huge backlog of sexual violence cases” in Sarajevo (and, I would imagine, at the International Criminal Court).

Hague and Jolie will reunite once more in June when she co-chairs a summit in London focusing on ending warzone rape. Hague will try to make his move once again. Brad who?

PS… here’s the interview/docu-piece Angelina did with CNN focusing on Syrian refugees.

He’s so smitten with her and who wouldn’t be. A smart beautiful woman who uses her celebrity to do good for others.

    • lisa2 says:

I saw a video of Jared Leto being asked about that BS Angie rumor. He was so sweet in his reply about her and Brad.. I think most people that meet her are smitten. never seen a comment of anyone that has ever met her say anything negative. the link is too long to post..

    • OriginalLee says:

Smitten is on point. Of course he’s head over heels for her.

      • phlyfiremama says:

Seriously. How could you NOT be smitten with her? I saw a picture of her on a carousel in Paris years ago~she was riding with Maddox and Brad was off to the side. HER FACE when she was looking up at him was just breathtaking. I havn’t ever seen that picture again, but can STILL see it in my minds eye. SO BEAUTIFUL~

      • lisa2 says:

        @phlyfiremama

If you Google Angelina on a carousel In Paris you will see a lot of the pictures. I think I know the one. But the whole serious of pics is so cute. She was pregnant with Shiloh at that time too. So she was totally glowing. They looked so cute as a family. Brad was just so taken by the whole moment.

    • Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

…and who knows when and how to keep her mouth shut – which is a great skill. She is a good role model in not responding to the ‘digs’ about her – doesn’t engage with that toxic dance.

      • Sal says:

Exactly, Mitch Buchanan Rocks! She is a very strong lady. I couldn’t do it – not respond. She epitomises grace under fire.

  2. Superficial comment of the day—

Look at that FACE. Good Lord. There are so many things that could’ve went wrong with Angelina’s face–one ‘off’ feature, and the whole thing would’ve been ruined……but it didn’t.

    • huh says:

Yep. Her brother has the same exact facial features and it doesn’t work for him

      • Her brother is just too feminine looking–it’s the lips. If his lips had been thinner, then he would’ve been FINE. But I don’t like feminine looking guys.

      • Aurie says:

@Virgilia Sorry I disagree haha…her brother has “creepy” eyes…..whereas Angelina back in the early 2000’s had crazy eyes, but now they seem warm.

  3. Liv says:

You can say what you want about this woman, but she’s doing a great job travelling to all these countrys of which other filmstars probably don’t even know. What she’s doing for these kids and familys is not only being incredibly nice to, but also raising awareness. I really love that part of her.

  4. Luca26 says:

That video is heartbreaking. What a great thing she is working to do.

    • Greata says:

This video made me cry….that these conditions still exist is unforgiveable.

      • Liv says:

What I thought. It’s 2014 and we still haven’t figured out how to deal with masses of people who flee from war. These kids are lost generations. Heartbreaking and such a shame.

      • Andrea1 says:

@Liv who said….What I thought. It’s 2014 and we still haven’t figured out how to deal with masses of people who flee from war. These kids are lost generations. Heartbreaking and such a shame……..This! I already said this below its 2014 and the world doesn’t have a clue on how to end this war and how to deal with the masses of people who flee from war. That’s terrible. War isn’t something I would wish for even the most terrible people. It is a very bad thing. I hope the awareness this woman brings helps in proferring solutions somehow… Keep up the good work Angie!!

    • lower-case deb says:

when she hesitated a little, after that kid asked her if her children are alone. i would be nervous too. what do you say? and in the face of such generosity from children! they’ve lost their parents and yet they still worry about other people’s children missing their parents. they’ve lost so much but they speak with such courage, stride and dignity. they have such beautiful smiles too.

i look at my own kids and i cried like a lunatic.

and my superficial comment of the day: sensible shoes!

      • Sullivan says:

I agree. That was heartbreaking. Angelina is a witness to the heartbreaking cruelties of war and she works to bring this to light. That’s why I believe that she cannot be bothered by the pettiness of sites like FF or the rantings of Handler.

      • ncboudicca says:

      • Minz says:

That video made me sob like a child. I love Angelina and the good work she does.

  5. Em says:

    Ugh William Hague

    • Sixer says:

I think ugh William Hague, too – but you can’t knock his campaign against conflict rape. He is doing good work there, as is Jolie.

      • Amelia says:

Least offensive member of the Tories, I find, simply because of his involvement in the campaign.
But still. Icky Torie. (Tory? What are the grammar rules when it comes to abbreviations for political parties?)

      • Sixer says:

It’s Tory and Tories. It is the old name for the Conservative Party – before the party, the term Tory originated with the Royalists during the English Civil War and subsequent Cromwell parliament. The Liberals used to be the Whigs. And there wasn’t a Labour Party until the 20th century.

  6. Sixer says:

Downing Street has been closed to general access since the IRA bombing campaign in the 80s. There’s a ruddy great guarded gate, for heavens sakes.

  7. Rhea says:

Wow. She’s one busy lady, for sure. I respect her dedication a lot. Let’s hope more people aware about our world and its problems. Maybe one day we could finally have a better solution. Who knows.

  8. lisa2 says:

That video is heart wrenching. So sad when children have to take on such adult responsibility. This has been a cause she has given much time and energy to. I really like how she goes back to areas to follow up. She really has such a big heart and a capacity to embrace all people. That is not an easy thing to do. Her film was the catalysis for this initiative. I’m sure she had no idea this would be ultimate result of her film. I think this outcome is far more important and lasting than BO numbers or awards. She is changing lives for generations to come. and that is not an overstatement at all.

I saw pictures of the visit from today.. trust those pictures above are not giving you the full affect of her face. She was wearing very little make up if any and I swear she looks more beautiful if possible.

Sorry but they didn’t close off the street for her. It was for his security. Not her security. I saw a comment on a site and of course her detractors were trying to make that a point which is it not. HAGUE has security. He is a high government official. Seriously I know the write up is a joke, but these people don’t need much encouragement to attack.

    • Andrea1 says:

@Lisa2 this!!! The outcome of ITLOBH has outwayed whatever boxoffice numbers she ever expected. Its a great and tremendious achievement the movie has brought for Angie.

    • lower-case deb says:

also, here is one example of ongoing projects receiving fresh funds from the initiative.
      http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=l1P7xaLVOZE

an inter-community/multi-organizational effort to prevent rape, or document rape in a way that they can be admissible in court and hopefully lead to a successful prosecution of the perpetrators.

i mean, look at us in more “lawful” countries and how hard it is still for rape victims to find justice (not to mention being victim blamed). imagine how much harder it is for the victims in lawless places, in places where stigmas run deeper than blood , where only up to several years ago “rape” is considered “fair game” by the warring factions.

      • Cecilia says:

*sigh* war time rape has been considered “fair game” for centuries. It will be very difficult, if not impossible to eradicate. How do you find & apprehend the lawless, let alone bring them to justice in the middle of war.

      • lisa2 says:

        @Cecilia.

you begin by at least trying.

  9. Frida_K says:

    Her awesomeness knows no bounds.

What an amazing woman she is, and what a true ambassador for this country she has become.

    ~~Palms together, and namaste~~

  10. elkiddo says:

You know how to write your title. My heart was just about to drop.

  11. Hellen says:

Brad you are in danger boy. lol
Not Hague though. When I saw her speaking at those events she really is a smart and articulate woman. What did she saw in Pitt? They seem to be completely different. When I saw pictures of him with his ex in those red carpets in the late nineties he always seemed to me a man who valued his physical appearance more then anything in his life. He better not play with luck.
There are many interesting men in the diplomatic spheres. I totataly see her being with a men like that in the future.

    • Josephina says:

Brad is more than time enough for Angie. Brad has been growing in his accomplishments as well over the years. They have a lot of shared interest and they are still in love with each other.

    • BNA Fn says:

You asked what Angelina saw in Pitt? Angelina says he supports and guide her and she could not have accomplished the things she does without him. She also called Brad “my love”. Also, Brad went to HW with an old car and a few hundred dollars in his pocket and now he is one of the biggest movie star in the world. IMO, he’s a very smart man. Brad was three credits from receiving his college degree.

      • Hellen says:

I was kidding. I have nothing against him. He now seems a very different person, but in the late nineties it was everithing about looks IMO. Didnt he said in an interview that he wasted too much time doing “nothing” ? His words, not mine. I know she is in love with him and I know he is in love by her, they have a great family etc etc. I was just saying that even when they met they seemed to be 2 completly different persons and I am allways intrigued to know what she saw in him ( because his looks had nothing to do with that since she was once married to BBT)

      • @Hellen
I often wonder that too. Because I don’t think Angelina got with Brad, the pretty boy who smoked pot all day. And I don’t think she got with someone who started getting involved in charity work to impress her–how many dudes do you think she’s had pull that on her, when she was single?

So I wonder when Brad started to change—I don’t know, because I wasn’t old enough for gossip….but surely there were *some* signs. I mean, it’s possible that he changed overnight (in regards to more hands on charity work, not his stance on family), but I imagine that Angelina would’ve been really wary of someone like that–when she had one child, and another one on the way.

      • Suze says:

I think it helped a lot that Brad fell in love with Maddox.

  12. Those poor kids! I just can’t imagine talking so matter of factly about my mother’s death like that. I wonder how they were, after the cameras left. I’d imagine it wasn’t good.

    • Ennie says:

I read in other sites how Angelina gets to help some of the people she meets. I don’t know if it is in every case or how /if the rules of the camps they stay in allow it.
I read that the elder sisters refugees from the war in the ex-Yugoslavia did get a home and it was due to Angelina. I do not have the link, but hopefully it did happen.
It is so hard because how do you choose who to help when you see so many sad stories?
I bet for these children one of the most important things is to get treatment and medicine for their older brother, food and adequate clothes. Five children, young teens still needing their parents. How sad.

  13. Andrea1 says:

I am complete heartsick and virtually without words after seeing this video by Angelina Jolie. War is hell and the war must be brought to an end now. I could see how difficult it was but she managed not to cry but instead tried to be a comfort to those children. God bless you Angelina for bringing this tragic situation to the world’s attention. Please let us all pray for an end to
this war now. No one should suffer like this, especially children. I wonder when it will end seeing that we are in 2014.. Man’s inhumanity at its peak!

  14. Ennie says:

    Tnx for featuring this video.

  15. Gi says:

Very sad what happens to the refugees, especially children that besides losing all parents take huge responsibilities …. and yet are concerned about the children of Angelina …. And indeed the international community should support the countries that are receiving refugees….

  16. Eleonor says:

Oooh Sarajevo. I love that place, it stole my heart. If I had the chance I would fly there too as soon as I can. Good for her, and her work is totally worth it.

  17. Andrea1 says:

Sometimes you think your life is hard and then you see this! I am grateful for what I have.. I sincerely hope the international community help to salvage this situation.

  18. Bea says:

Angelina is an amazing woman to be able to sit there with those children and not cry, I don’t think I could do it and I would want to take them all home with me. That young man who saw his mother and retreated into childhood just….broke my heart.

This woman is making a difference.

  19. Suze says:

All you have to do is look at the CB stories on today’s front page to see what a different field Jolie is mining. Divorce, affairs, conscious uncoupling, parties, drugs and refugees from Sarajevo.

Which one of these things is not like the other?

    • Andrea1 says:

      This +10000000000

    • Jen says:

Her true self is more interesting than the tabloid creation. However, wait until next week or the coming weeks with the new stories of jealousy of any woman who breathes the same air as Brad, past or present. It is a shame that those made-up stories get so much traction and these true come and go, when these are the really interesting ones. This couple seems to float above the nonsense and just do their own things. Good on them both.

    • Luca26 says:

      Yes!

With Goop’s recent comments about how easy working mothers have it and how hard it is to be a movie star. I can’t help but think she should be left at this camp to learn about real suffering.

But that would be cruel to the refugees.

      • Andrea1 says:

@Luca26 your comment was deep! 🙂

      • AmyB says:

I agree with @Luca26…..Angelina is a movie star but never acts like it and uses her influence in amazing and inspiring ways. Gwyneth Paltrow’s comments about the average working mom are horrifying and insulting especially to this single mom who works her ass off in shift work to support my only daughter. She is insulting and should be ashamed of herself. You would never hear Angelina talk about how “hard her life is”…….She seems grateful and uses her influence for good and wants to make a change in this world.

      • Kim1 says:

Im no Paltrow apologist but she is ignorant because she has never experienced/ witnessed poverty or real struggle. She has lived her entire life with a silver spoon in her mouth.Wealth, Privilege, Luxury is all she knows as evident by her website.Of course she can’t relate to the average working woman.

  20. Jedi says:

Thank you Kaiser for posting that CNN video.
For anyone looking for links to help – http://www.unicef.org and http://www.unhcr.org are good places to think about donating.

  21. Jaderu says:

Don’t play with my emotions Kaiser.
With Goops c**tapalooza, the girl vs girl garbage from the enquirer and King George and his classy new “girlfriend” I just can’t.
Don’t dangle titles like that (“with her new boyfriend”) in front of me before I’ve finished my fruitloops.

  22. Kim1 says:

I should not have watched this video this morning.I am sobbing thinking about my late mother and my heart aches for these sweet children .I wonder if the oldest boy will ever be normal again, will recover from this traumatic event.I wonder if Hala will be his caretaker for the rest of her life.I hope Hala continues seeing her mother , if only in her dreams.

    • lulu1 says:

I thought Angelina was tactful about including their mom in her questions ‘I didn’t get to meet your mom’ and asking them to talk about her. I presume this is not only instinctive but that she puts considerable time into finding out how to talk to victims. This is the difference between a star who goes somewhere for a photo op and someone who considers these visits a serious undertaking.

  23. Aysla says:

That was heartbreaking. Hala is such a brave and spirited little girl, and they are all such beautiful children in their love and care for one another. Children shouldn’t have to endure such sorrow and grown-up responsibilities the way these kids are. It hurts to know how much suffering there is in the world, and all the times I dwell on little negative things, taking my life for granted. Perspective.

  24. Loopy says:

They close it off for all Heads of States.

  25. Soulsister says:

What an amazing little girl Hala is and what a beautiful family. Their circumstances are so heart-breaking.

I think that it is really important that Angelina is giving refugees a very human face.

  26. Raye says:

I can’t help but compare, Angie narrates a video about Syrian refugee kids, and which is so heartbreaking. Whilst Jennifer Aniston narrated a video about oats and moisturizer, lol. Brad is one lucky guy to end with Angie after that shallow woman.

    • lower-case deb says:

personally, i think both are okay and each have a place in the world. i’m not entirely comfortable with trashing one woman to highlight the deeds of another woman. i think AJ’s credential is stellar enough to stand on its own, and it’s a credit to her.

regarding different levels of shallowness, i somewhat hesitate to comment, and while i recognize that perhaps one thing weighs more/is more pressing/important, i think they do contribute something to the conversation. i don’t know much about Aveeno or SmartWater or LivingProof, but i do hope that they are also good companies to support (i heard that she also holds stock in these companies, so at the very least she’s helping the people who work at the company with good and compassionate business decisions, especially in this uncertain economic times).

i think both women are accomplished women. however way we cut it, both AJ and JA has become successful on their own terms, commendable in their own ways. is one more commendable than the other, deeper than the other, shallower than the other? as they say in my country, different rivers have different depths, but they enrich the same ocean.

i think we need to judge them, if we want to, by their own merits without forcefully diminishing the other. i’m sure AJ wouldn’t like to do it either.

anyway, please don’t think that i’m trying to be combative 🙂 just my meager two cents.

      • Cecilia says:

you make perfect sense. Wonderful comment.

      • Meinu says:

lower-case deb, I can’t tell you how much I agree with you!
The saying you mentioned is so spot on and beautiful (btw, in which language is this?).
I believe too that everyone contributes to the world in their own way, and as long one works at being kind-hearted and constructive (being for oneself, one’s family or for a larger population or the planet), no-one can really judge whose contribution deserves more praise. Surely everyone makes mistakes (and thank god can change) but you can’t judge people’s “value” based simply on what you see. There’s a whole other dimension of goodness (and badness!) in people below the surface. That one is not easy to grasp.

      • Camille (The Original) says:

One is trying to shill crap products and make you buy them (with no real value to the world except pushing consumerism) and the other is trying to bring attention to important world issues. Quite a large difference… But in saying that, I really wish people would stop trying to compare the two. They are in completely different leagues to each other…

  27. Andrea1 says:

Here is Angelina Jolie at a press conference about sex violence during the war on friday at Sarajevo. http://www.justjared.com/2014/03/28/angelina-jolie-speaks-out-against-sex-violence-in-bosnia-at-press-conference/
Amazing woman who walks the walk!

  28. Ravensdaughter says:

Ooooh, the British Foreign Secretary-excellent choice in male job descriptions! He may not make as much money as Brad, but he’s definitely more educated. I bet he went to public school at someplace like Eton, and then either Oxford or Cambridge.
I’m the kind of person who would choose William over Brad-at least now-Brad’s lookin’ a bit scruffy, and I am sure William is always as crisply dressed as James Bond. Oh, and lest we forget-the accent!
Her international work is AMAZING and the UNHCR knows it-she was named their very first Special Envoy.
    TEAM ANGELINA!!

    • WTF says:

I cannot believe you STILL using that “Team” crap. (shaking head) I really hope your post was supposed to be sarcasm.

    • Katherine says:

Don’t you know who this guy is? He was a historian – he wrote the biography of William Pitt. Plus the biography of Pitt’s good friend William Wilberforce who was one of the major forces behind the abolitionist movement in England which ended slavery and slave trading in the UK. Check out the film, Amazing Grace, for a good history of the two men and the abolitionist struggle in England.

  29. Skye says:

memo to Princess Goop: it’s surprising what a woman can accomplish when her head isn’t two feet up her own ass all the time, searching for illegal gluten.

if Gwyneth Paltrow’s working-mom life is this taxing, Angelina’s must be a straight-up Guantanamo Hell Ride…and yet we’ve never heard her moan about how much easier a nice office job would be. gratitude for one’s privileged, exceptional life….. Look into it, princess.

  30. zut alors! says:

This is the side of Angelina I love to see. I think she and Mr. Hague make a fine team. He seems to be such a gentleman and clearly respectful of her. Thank goodness for whatever forces in the universe brought them together to work on this issue. Yes it is seemingly an impossible and daunting task, and I commend them for the effort they’re making in tackling war time rape.

  31. Ivy says:

Love the work she is doing to help women who suffer this horrible crime.

It’s been so sad reading comments on Serbian websites, they are trashing her left and right, you would think she annexed Crimea or something. *sigh* Makes the criticism she gets on this site seem darn right cheerful.

    • Cecilia says:

      Trashing her?? For what?

      • Ivy says:

Basically for highlighting the Srebrenica massacre and wartime rapes. They feel like she’s attacking them by bringing up the war crimes they perpetrated (even though she never mentions blame, only awareness). Many get defensive and ask “why doesn’t she stick up for Serb victims who were killed in X, Y, and Z?” It’s just a vicious cycle of refusing to accept blame by deflecting the issue and bringing on a sense on endless victim hood (“the press is ALWAYS blaming us”). Like I said, very sad.

  32. Katherine says:

Of course the Serbs are trashing her. They tried to trash and sabotage her film, in the Land of Blood and Honey, because it wouldn’t excuse or minimize the Serbs’ behavior. They were all over the internet with their revisionist history of the Balkan war.
