Elizabeth Olsen and Elle Fanning scored a few of the “Young Hollywood” covers for the May issue of Marie Claire. Elle’s preparing for some major publicity for Maleficent and Elizabeth is gearing up for this summer’s Godzilla. Lizzie has scored some plum roles in big blockbusters, and I’m so happy for her. She seemed destined to remain an indie darling, but she’s made an impression on casting directors despite not being an “it girl.”
We rarely write about Lizzie or Elle because they’re admittedly boring from a gossip standpoint. They both go to work, do their jobs without complaint, and go home. No big scandals. No stereotypical starlet drama. The tabloids tried to stir up some stories of sibling rivalry between Lizzie and the Olsen twins, but those were only rumors. Here are some excerpts from Elizabeth and Elle’s features:
Elizabeth on her coveted lifestyle: “I definitely know what kind of lifestyle I want to have. Some people recognize you for your work, not for being pictured going to clubs. So, I try and keep that kind of profile that people know you from your work and that’s it. There are some jobs that I’ve said no to, because I know what kind of attention they will bring. I choose not to have that specific kind of attention.”
Is she a muse for Mary-Kate & Ashley? “God, no. I just try and see what they do and copy them like the rest of the world does.”
Does the Olsen name help or hurt? “Everyone has their hurdle to get over, and if mine is that I have to [prove] I’ve earned my jobs, I’m OK with that. I’m in it for a ride, and I’m in it for the long run.”
Elle on her personal style: “I like to dress my age. You don’t want to look too old when you’re not, or too young when you’re not.”
Elle and Elizabeth both have famous siblings and a bit of baggage to overcome, but I think having a famous name opens many opportunities. Elizabeth has a great attitude about her family’s fame. She knows some people will wonder if the got into the business on the Olsen name, but that’s a such a minor issue compared to the big picture.
I’ve included some photos of Elizabeth on the set of Avengers: Age of Ultron. She plays the Scarlet Witch, and I love her boots. She and Aaron Taylor-Johnson play the “miracle” twins. They’re fighting alongside Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye. I guess the twins switched sides? When it comes to Marvel, who knows.

I like both of them, and appreciate that Elle is dressed her age.
I really like what Elizabeth is wearing but could never pull it off myself.
It’s a nice sentiment “You don’t want to look too old when you’re not” but Elle clearly doesn’t live by it – look at her in the red slinky dress! That does not read 16 years young to me.
What about Lupita’s cover???? Or does she get her own post 😉
Wow, Elizabeth has scored some big roles, Godzilla and the Avengers are both going to be huge.
I like that both of them just do their work, no personal drama.
Yeah, she’s gonna become a household name soon. Which I’m happy about because I think she’s really talented.
I hope she’s able to use the fame that she’s going to get to help greenlight some movies like some of the amazing wee indies she’s been in 🙂
Elizabeth sounds like she has her head screwed on straight…Good for her…that business can chew up and spit out people, especially young people…I like both covers…they both look great! Call me old fashioned, but I’m so sick of every photo of young women (and some not so old) captioned “so and so goes topless for (insert magazine title, here).
Elizabeth seems to have a good outlook. I really like her.
Me, too. Very lovely, as well.
Im happy for Elizabeth’s Come Up!
I have a feeling that outfit of hers from the Avengers scenes is going to be reproduced ad nauseum by Hot Topic shoppers for a few years.
Elle looks mad!
Is Elle Fannings a thing? why the hell did she even got cast as the princess in Angelina Jolie’s movie? the funny thing is that both are Americans and they’re doing british accents but at elast Jolie can sell the tickets. what is Elle fanning doing there. and she looks very old and mature for her age.
What does the fact that they are American’s speaking with British accents have to do with anything…How many Brits and Austrailians play parts using American accents….seems like a silly thing to snark on!
What an unnecessarily bitchy and pointless comment. She’s a good actress and better people than you have lauded her for her talent. May I suggest you change your name to the opposite of pretty?
I really like Elle–I like both of the Fanning sisters. They’re my hope for my generation’s actors. Now, if only we could get some hot guys who can act, that are my age…..
She IS a thing, she’s done many good movies and if you’ve bothered to look it up instead of bitching about a 16years old girl without any reason, you’d know. Not only elle is talented but is lovely as well. Why the hate?
That’s the best answer to the nepotism question I think I’ve ever heard. Smart girl…or smart publicist…either way, well done.
I agree., that was a really good answer. Both Elle and Elizabeth have famous older siblings but they’re also both undeniably talented, so shouldn’t really get the nepotism question in the first place.
I like them both but I think Elle’s hair is a touch too white blonde.. a few more natural darker foils through would be so lovely on her
Agree.
I really like them both! And I think they’re actually very talented, with or without the famous sisters.
Still like Elle more.
I adore Elizabeth Olsen. She’s very talented and down to earth.
I find both the Fanning sisters annoying. Elle Fanning always seems completely zapped of energy. It’s like she has no essence.
Why are we being asked to compare? Must we pit one young talented actress against another, two who stay out of trouble and don’t court the media?
This is so weird. How many cover girls do they have for may issue? Are they going to keep track which cover sell more and which doesn’t? And if you get Elizabeth’s cover, will the other cover girls interview be in the magazine as well? I like both girls. I think they’re both talented and pretty. I would’ve liked it if they got all the girls together in one photoshoot instead of these individual covers.
I’m so happy that Elizabeth’s getting great roles. She seems lovely and she was really good in Martha Marcy May Marlene and Liberal Arts.
