Sweet. I’m even starting to like the hat.

    • blue marie says:

Ha, I knew it would happen! Nah, I think it’s sweet too, love to see all those showing their “Happy”.

And YAY for Outkast, they make me happy!

      • Tiffany :) says:

Outkast makes me so happy too!
Bombs Over Bagdad is my FAVORITE song to run to when I work out. I go fast whether my body can handle it or not!

  2. LadyS says:

    They’re “Happy” tears!

    • Crank says:

I cry every time the song comes on because it’s the most repetitive crap ever lol (I know I’m the only one with this opinion, but Pharell just ‘talk sings’ to me…ugh I can’t stand his hat or his song that goes on forever and ever amen). My rant for the day, because I know this’ll probably upset everyone lol. He’s a cool guy though.

      • Tiffany :) says:

No need to apologize for what you like!

For me, I think the “talk sing” is kind of what makes it sound sincere. Can only imagine if Anne Hathaway sung that song, it would be like, “I’m HAPPPY! Seriously, SO SO HAPPPPPPPPYYYYYYY!! ” :: jazz hands ::

      • Kiddo says:

I love your rants, regardless of where I stand. They make me ‘happy’ because they are funny.

      • Lolo-ology says:

Ugh that’s exactly how I feel! I tried listening to the song once, and turned it off after 2 minutes because it was so repetitive. And that hat. That hat makes me so angry, haha.

      • floretta50 says:

Lolo-ology comments is just why so many people are thankful for Farrell Williams song Happy! the naysayers of the world, like the dysfunctional republican congress, no to healthcare for the non-rich, no to raising minimum wage, no to unemployment benefits, no to immigration reform, no to the jobs bill, keep poor and middle class with a foot on their backs, and yes some of us despite all of this can still be happy.

    • DJohnson says:

I love the song! Love this interview!
To those who don’t, I have good news! You don’t have to listen. Be Happy and press on.
To those who get it, I am rocking to the beat with you. Especially during those harder moments of life. It becomes a conscious choice to feel good about self and life, and in doing that your become accepting of others especially during their triumphs.

    • Xera says:

He did the same thing on french TV when they showed various countries’ interpretations of the song, it was obvious it was an act then, Pharrell is a bit too smooth

  3. T.C. says:

Oprah makes everyone cry but I cried too watching that clip . Don’t judge me CBers. LOL.

    • idk says:

I did too, just a little water in the eye though. But it was sweet and it’s nice to see people all over the world enjoying one common thing.

    • mia girl says:

He just seems like such a great guy and to see him react to how a simple song he created can have such a positive affect on other people all over the world… well it made me cry too!.

Looking forward to him being the new coach on The Voice.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I feel like the default emotion, underneith all the internet snark, is for humans to be happy. It reminds me of what a Boston marathoner said the other day….there are some bad people out there, but there are a WHOLE LOT of good people.

This song just allows peole to plug into their goodness a little bit.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

        Thanks for bringing it up.
It’s a really heart-breaking/heart-warming day in the Boston today. Lots of beautiful ceremonies and people sharing bittersweet stories of what happened here a year ago today.

      • ~Z~ says:

I say it all the time myself…..
There ARE lots and lots of good people still left….Unfortunately they are usually hiding from the bad people!

And I guess it makes meeting a good person all the better.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Hi ZigZagZoey-The bad people just get more attention, that’s all.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

        Tiffany, you are sweet

      • paranormalgirl says:

        @tiffany *applause*

      • Tiffany :) says:

        Aw, thank you guys!

Boston has been in my thoughts a lot today. I wish I could articulate a little more on all of the thoughts it brings up, but mostly, I am just especially appreciative of the Bostonians who jumped into action to help their fellow human beings. They affected me so much.

And for the record, there are a LOT of Celebitch-ers who I can tell are really wonderful people, and they bring a lot to my life as well. Yay for people! (I should have posted a warning that I am prone to cheese).

    • QQ says:

I cant judge I teared up and so did my gfs, is great that not only is he adorable, quirky, talented and generally thought of as a good egg But Humble enough to be overwhelmed by this success?!? Love!

  4. Dani2 says:

Aww, this interview just made me want to cuddle him, I love “Happy”.

  5. JenniferJustice says:

Love Pharrell and *happy* to see him feeling so blessed and humble. He has been on the sidelines for decades and now he finally has the recognition he worked so hard for.

  6. idk says:

    Kendall Jenner…wow really? Kim K 2.0.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I am not going to give her the benefit of my “click”. I refuse to be an audience for the Kardashians!

  7. Ladyray says:

Aww, I love Pharrell. You can tell he’s an amazing person who is true to himself and his fans.

  8. bluehue says:

    Oligarchy.

  9. someone says:

I love “Happy” so much more than that stupid “Blurred Lines” song. I hope Pharrell sticks with the happy type music in the future.

  10. Stephanie says:

I may be the only CB-er who can’t stand that song. It is no reflection on my happiness but it pings my last nerve!! 😜

  11. Dawn says:

Wow… Kendall and that shirt. All I can say is my mother would have slapped me silly for wearing that shirt if I was 30 let alone 18. Do none of these people feel shame? God.

  12. anesthetizes says:

    Pharrell can do no wrong.

  13. lenje says:

Oh wow! Brooklyn Beckham is almost as tall as his dad! How tall is David?

  14. lrm says:

I liked Pharrell even more when I saw that clip about his wanting to work with Daniel Lanois [amazing musician and famed music producer]…That upped his cred with me personally…Lanois said he was amazed when he found out b/c he didn’t know guys like Pharrell even knew about his work [Lanois is super humble-I think he finds himself somewhat obscure/on the sidelines and wouldn’t think a bit hip hop or pop star would know him, for example]….Anyway, the more I see from Pharrell, the more I like him-he’s unique and that is extremely refreshing.

  15. Reece says:

Aww how sweet! That hat still makes me want some pancakes and maple syrup. *snort*

Don’t all social structures tend toward Oligarchy eventually. That’s my theory. Pendulum swings and all that.

  16. kco says:

Several years ago, I was going back to college, and was all teary eyed, walking through the airport, dragging my heavy luggage. He walked up to me, and told me I was beautiful. That was all. He wasn’t trying to pick me up, spit game, nothing. He just walked up to me, to tell me that all he wanted to say to me was that I was beautiful. It broke my heart and lifted me up all at the same time. He is one sweet guy, and I wish him all of the success that his heart can handle.

    • Tiffany :) says:

WOW, that is such a touching story! Love that he was spreading some positivity out there!

    • idk says:

Wow how nice of him ! You’re so lucky you met him.

    • Anne says:

wow, what a great moment you had. that’s lovely. cliche as it may sound, it’s true that little genuine expressions like that can mean a great deal. thanks for sharing that, your story makes my day.

      • kco says:

Awww, thanks Anne! It brightened up my day remembering it and writing it down 🙂

He just smiled the entire time while talking to me! Such a genuine dude, seriously. I smiled the entire plane ride away from home, when I probably would have been crying. 🙂

Good day, ladies! Everyone just smile <3

  17. Bree! says:

Love Pharell, cant stand tht song!

    • Esmom says:

Haha, I was going to say the exact same thing. The song just doesn’t do it for me.

Switching topics, I’m so happy The Goldfinch won the Pulitzer. I posted on the book club thread about it this weekend when someone asked for a recommendation. It’s the best book I’ve read in ages…I had told friends I thought it was a masterpiece. So great.

  18. lambchops says:

Damn, I’d cry to if I’d made millions on a dumb song and could afford crazy expensive Vivienne Westwood hats just cuz. Cry in the car all the way to the bank, back again.

  19. Kidoo says:

Malcolm Young of AC/DC is really sick, so they may be ‘no more’. I know it’s a really old band, but I found out about them a couple of years ago, since a friend loved them, I went to see them and they were fantastic. It sounds like whatever it is, it’s pretty bad. I don’t know if there are fans here.

  20. Hautie says:

    OMG… those Daytona Beach pictures.

I am so old. I have the same type of Spring break pictures from high school… but from South Padre Island from 1985! Those hair-do’s! The girls in the high hip cut bikini’s! I can even smell the baby oil. Since we had no sense and refused to use sun screen.

The Camaro’s parked on the beach! The car that all douche bag jock guys, had to have! Blaring out Back in Black by AC/DC. (yes, I am sad to hear about Malcolm Young!) Ohhhh and Def Leppard was the sound track to this time period.

  21. Love the song, respect to Pharrell, but BY JEEZUS do I hate that hat.
