Here are highlighs from Abdul’s Tonight Show appearance in which she’s talking about Bikini Girl. It’s worth it to see Abdul’s bat-like outfit, which is hard to appreciate when she’s sitting down

Paula Abdul was on the Tonight Show last night and she seemed typically out of it, but she was coherent enough. She told a very amusing story about her past with new AI judge, singer/songwriter Kara Dioguardi. Abdul said she first met Dioguardi on the street in New York ten years ago and that they ended up becoming fast friends, writing a hit song for Kylie Minogue, and moving in together. Abdul and Dioguardi got along well and never argued, but Dioguardi had a habit of sleepwalking and raiding the fridge at night, not realizing what she had done until she was confronted with the mess in the morning.

“She used to sleepwalk and eat me out of house and home… I had off white carpeting and I’d see ground food… a trail that would lead to the kitchen and then handprints of pumpkin pie.

“She wakes up and she goes ‘no I didn’t’…

“The truth is I found out that this season, that one of her best friends… she slept walked and ate the one year anniversary of the couple’s wedding cake.”

Paula said that Dioguardi’s appearance on American Idol ten years later was a complete surprise to her and that she was told “There’s a fourth judge. You won’t know her, she’s a songwriter.”

She asked “Is it Kara Dioguardi?” and said she was amazed to hear that her old friend would be joining her on the hit show.

Paula added “and it pisses Simon off, of course…. Not only are we [Kara and I] not fighting. We’re having a blast.”

American Idol is not without its controversies this year as usual. It was recently announced that contestant Joanna Pacitti would be replaced in the competition after it came out that she had a record deal in the past and was good friends with an American Idol producer. Dioguardi even recognized her when she first auditioned.
