Daniel Radcliffe is such a low-key celebrity that we rarely cover him. The tabloids tried to work up some boozing-hard stories a few years ago, but none of those rumors stuck. Radcliffe appears remarkably well adjusted for a former child star who’s still finding his way in adult roles. I think he appreciates the challenge, and he’s purposely chosen atypical parts to prove his worth. Next up is his hairy, slightly greasy turn in Frankenstein.
Daniel has finally made the tabloids again, but it’s not for anything scandalous. This week’s issue of Star says he’s popped the question to his lady love of two years, Erin Darke. They got together on the set of Kill Your Darlings (Dan played Allen Ginsberg) and have been inseparable ever since. This is a sweet story:

Star can reveal that, after almost two years of dating, the Harry Potter actor has popped the question to girlfriend Erin Darke. “Dan is desperately in love,” gushes a close pal. The actor, 24, and his American fiancee are planning on tying the knot in an outdoor ceremony on the banks of Lake Michigan near Erin’s family home next year. But before officially announcing their good news, the couple are taking a trip to Paris to find the perfect engagement ring. “They’re trying to keep it low-key, because he’s very private,” continues the source. “But they’re both bursting with excitement. It’s the happiest we’ve seen hin in years.” The nuptuals will also be the cause for a Hogwart’s reunion. Insiders say Daniel’s former costar Emma Watson will be in attendance because she adores Erin, while Rupert Grint will serve as best man. Sounds magical!

I hope this story is true. Daniel is a great guy by all accounts, and he and Erin have flown under the radar for so long that it must be true love. What do you think of the detail about Rupert Grint serving as best man and Emma Watson flying in for the wedding? That trio will never escape each other. Not in the land of gossip nor the “real” world. Let’s hope we see Dan and his lady with a giant engagement ring soon. He’ll probably go vintage, right?

I actually read somewhere that they never hung out together save for during filming of the movies. Rupert serving as Best Man sounds like jumping the gun a bit.
I love Dan!! And while the little girl in me is kind of jealous (“he’s mine don’t you know!” — screams my 11 year old self), my adult self wants him to be happy and successful. I want him to succeed in his post-Potter film career. For his personal like, if Erin makes him happy and he loves her, then more power to him. If this is true, then congratulations to them.
Even though he seems pretty level headed, he seems a bit young to get married.
MTE but maybe in the crazy show biz world marriage creates a much needed stability? Well except for all the marriages we scrutinize on this site. Whatevs. I wish them happiness for however long their marriage lasts.

Also, while he may be young, he’s been working a good 10 years longer professionally than the average kid his age. I think that tends to either mature you faster, or Bieber you.

i believed it until i read about Rupert and Emma. Come on. thats fan fiction. Dan and Rupert are not close, they like each other but they are hardly as close to be best man at their weddings.
Daniel and Rupert were never that close. If they had said Tom, it would have been more believable.
Last I knew Dan and Emma did still talk/text, so if one or the other did marry I can see them inviting/attending the wedding of the other.
Kudos to him for making the transition from child actor to adult actor – and not going off the rails. His life has been so bizarre yet he keeps working and tries to keep things real.
Hmmm…. I don’t know. Didn’t Dan said a few years back that he and Rupert are not exactly tight? Meaning they are the kind of friends who see each other only when both happen to be in the same town and not busy, not the type who are in constant contact with each other?
So the part where Rupert was going to be best man…. I’m going to go with a pinch of salt on that one. Good for them all if the news is true!
He also revealed earlier this week that he hadn’t really spoken to Emma Watson since they finished promotional duties on Potter. I think the three of them will probably all share a bond about what it’s like to be at the forefront of the madness that was Potter and probably enjoy each other’s company but they don’t really maintain constant contact. They most likely have a work relationship and that’s about the height of it.

I love seeing evidence of extremely famous celebrities keeping their lives out of the public arena – makes you realise how all of those who complain about it being “impossible to lead private lives” probably aren’t trying all that hard to do so…
