Angelina Jolie was out and about in NYC yesterday with her children. YAY. Angie took the five youngest children to FAO Schwarz, which was probably the millionth trip she’s ever done with her kids. Every time they’re in NYC, they go to FAO Schwarz! Which is great for the kids, I guess. I guess Maddox is too old for toy stores now, that’s why he didn’t come. So, the kids paired off – Pax seems protective over Knox (who looks SO MUCH like Shiloh, and by that I mean he looks like Brad) and ZZ and Shiloh paired off, as they usually do. Meanwhile, Vivienne (Angelina’s “Shadow”) stayed close to her mom.
Is Angelina the coolest mom ever for wearing leather pants for a toy shop trip? Y’all know I always like it when Angelina returns to her leather-wearing wild child roots, but I don’t know… it seems like Angelina is really lacking in quality casualwear.
By the way, if you want to read a good explanation for Angelina’s makeup fail two nights ago, go here. The basic gist? Angelina was wearing makeup that’s more for magazine photoshoots rather than red carpets. Which makes me wonder… do you think she was doing a photoshoot earlier in the day and she just didn’t take off her editorial makeup before the red carpet? That’s what I think… especially because she covers People Magazine this week! I’m including the cover below, and you can read the first cover interview excerpts here.
She says that she and Brad are “discussing” their wedding plans with the kids, “how they imagine it might be…Which is verging on hysterical, how kids envision a wedding…They will, in a way, be the wedding planners.” She also talks about her double mastectomy: “I’m really happy about the choices I’ve made and I feel even more connected to other people, especially women.”

There was a story about a woman who made her fiance change his last name to Cullen so she could become Mrs Cullen (yes, this happened). The wedding theme from BD1 was replicated, right down to Bella’s gown.

That makes me cry inside. I am not 100% positive, but I think my husband might have called off our wedding if I suggested a Twilight wedding. Then again, I hated the first book and never read any of the others, or saw the movies, so that would never happen.
I almost had him convinced to do a medieval themed wedding, because we did meet when my brother took me with him to one of those weekend LARPs with the foam weapons and such. Ultimately, we went normal.
What guy would change his name to Cullen for that reason? So strange.

I’d guess because it’s something that no matter how much money you have, there’s really no real way to make the process easier. A masectomy is a brutal procedure for anyone. Wealthy actors often get accused of being isolated and out of touch with most people. The surgery is probably something that she shares in common with a lot of other women.

agree on your take. I think she’s sort of saying that it doesn’t matter how much money or success or love you have in your life…if you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything. it’s one thing that equalizes all of us.
of course, she did have more choices as far as preventative treatment and reconstruction. but any wealthy person does.

Good question because I didn’t feel that way after my surgery. I felt alone and withdrawn. This sounds a bit kumbaya. I can tell you that I was happy to know there was no chance of the cancer coming back because I had no breasts, but now I worry about it coming somewhere else. It’s a never ending anxiety I carry with me every day of my life. I had my uterus and ovaries removed too but I still assume I will die of some form of cancer eventually bc I already had cancer so young. It sucks!!

I had a double mastectomy and after chemo will have ovaries removed. You are right, it is very lonely. Reach out to other survivors who understand the stress and you’ll begin to feel better. Also, talk therapy and maybe some anti depressants may help while you work through it. Sending you light and hugs as someone going through chemo as we speak. xxoo
Just a guess, but I wonder if more women are speaking to her about their own experiences with breast cancer/mastectomies. I know a woman who is very well known in her community for her work with breast cancer, and people come up to her 24/7 to discuss their experiences.
She always ses like such a great mom. Good for her, I’m honestly just really worried for how tiny she looks now …she looks weak and sick..I hope everything’s okay. I mean her legs are like the same size as her daughters legs. I’m not size shaming either..I’m super skinny but i see her and it’s like the time I didn’t see my good girlfriend over summer break and she came back sooo skinny I didn’t realize who she was for a few minutes. She was very sick, still struggles to this day, and also a beautiful, kind woman. Prayers for anyone battling their demons.

Watching that video made me feel like a creep.I can’t imagine how weird it is to have cameras following your every move, and the people standing outside waiting for a glimpse, so strange. I realize it’s not much different than me looking at pictures online, but still, lol, I’d feel really stupid just staring at a person like that, celebrity or not!

Vivienne becoming a young fashion designer.
Maddox turning out to be Hollywood’s golden boy.

True (I live in Manhattan, and used to live in the Lennox Hill area). And the high resolution pictures suggest that these are probably not casual fellow shoppers. Could also be FAO’s publicist.
But isn’t there a possibility that Jolie’s management team could’ve called FAO to let them know she was going to stop by, then an employee alerted the media? That has happened before.
She might have overplayed her hand a bit here with the “we’ve been through so much” quote. Um…granted she has had surgery but she has millions of dollars and has the resources to help herself. Does she realize that millions lives in poverty and don’t even have the money to test for the breast cancer gene? Typical Hollywood Kim and Kayne probably think they have been through alot to.

No, Angelina Jolie, who travels to refugee camps and specifically dedicated a ton of time to talking about the increased need for women’s access to healthcare and testing for that gene, has NO idea about how many people live in poverty.
They have already been through the death of her mom as a family… only that I would call it go through a lot, yo know it is not just a death and you go on living, and as a large family, they have probably had their health scares, problems and accidents besides her mastectomy. We really know a part of their lives, and what they choose to tell us.
She is the thinnest I have ever seen her and its taking its toll on her looks. I hope she gets help if she has an eating disorder for her children’s sake.
I am just curious why people on CB never seem to be concerned about the children of overweight or obese celebrity moms like Adele or Melissa McCarthy? I never read Melissa needs to lose 80 lbs so she will be around for her young daughters.I never read Adele would look so much better if she lost 30 lbs. Why is that? Angelina IS very thin and it is obvious that she either has an eating disorder or she is very very hardworking with her children and her career and finds it difficult to maintain a healthy weight. Don’t forget the camera adds 10 pounds so no doubt in real life she would look alarmingly emaciated.
Also, don’t forget that you don’t actually know this woman in real life. AJ is NOTORIOUS for being the absolute genius of image control and what we know of her – mother, wife, actress, humanitarian – is all a tightly controlled, highly managed and edited version of what she wants us to know. She is at the top of her game and understands that PR is EVERYTHING. That is all.

Also, I think her weight has really dipped after the surgery-body image issues, or just lack of appetite? Major surgery-medical events can affect appetite.
She does have a spouse, and my vibe has been that Brad is so caught up in his busy state that he hasn’t stepped back and taken a look at her. I have been saying-“feed her a steak every now and then” for months. She has a circle of loved ones who can intervene-at least Maddox is old enough to participate.
Time to at least recognize that something is wrong. It could well be medical-a thyroid condition?

I can’t imagine taking 4 kids into FAO, especially with the craziness of paparazzi added to it. I was there in the winter, fairly late in the evening, and it was bonkers. I was with a group of adults and we could barely keep track of each other!

And really do you thing photographers are going to sell pictures of the nannies. NO they don’t. so they could be there but those are not the pictures blogs and magazines are going to buy. Caz, that was such a wonderful story. the family lost the dog during Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy and, after searching for 18 months, finally gave up and went to their local shelter to get a new dog.
the VERY FIRST dog that was brought out for them to meet and possibly adopt was the one they lost. the whole story is a tear-jerker…
I hate saying this because I definitely believe that Angelina has a thin build and age plays a factor, but between her chest and legs/calves she appears so thin. It’s really noticeable when she is next to the children.

We all know that friends come and go; even lovers. But Family for many people is the foundation of all things in your life. It feels more. Lasting.

FAO is a pretty good field trip when you’re in New York and have a large family. We didn’t always get to buy anything, but it’s like an amusement park in there — lots of activities for kids to participate in. I’m going to bring Audrey Hepburn up again, because I find them to be so similar. They both have/had marginal acting talent, both exhibit/ed a luminous quality, both translate/d their fame and fortune into productive humanitarian work and, I think, maintained small frames because of it.

All the kids are so cute ^_^ I love seeing this family. I only have one child – a 7-year-old son – and husband and I aren’t planning to have any more kids due to a number of reasons, but women who consciously decide to have many children – be it their own or adopted – always fill me with awe. I would not have chosen that path – I just don’t have it in me – and I have a lot of respect and admiration for women who do.
Just wanted to say that I have a lot of respect for women like yourself that do what they feel comfortable with as far as children are concerned. The important thing is not how many, if any, that you have but that you make a conscious decision about something so life-altering. Many people make the mistake of having too many children I.e. More than they want and/or Cana care for because they give little thought to the degree of responsibility that they are undertaking.
Also, in no way is this comment a reflection about Jolie but about society in general.

How come people meet Joliet in person never comment how thin she is. All I have ever read is she is more beautiful in person. Fotois does not do her full justice. Even Lainy wrote that several time. Her family must feed her sandwiches , not us. What do we know about her or any other famous persons life except from a few frozen in time fotos.
As for paps, when she was in VN, there was an open ad in all papers with the number to call or SMS where Jolie was seen with a monetary reward.

Angelina is the best she has ever looked. She is stunning in photographs and she IS Maleficient. When she wore a tuxedo everyone talked about how beautiful it was on her. The next couple days a regular weight woman wore a tux and people said she was too fat for it. Brad said that the weight she is, is what Angelina considers her fighting weight. Its where she is most comfortable. If she wanted to gain weight, she would. Maybe she just doesn’t want extra weight hanging on her. I can understand that. She is rich, powerful and could find a way to gain weight if it made her feel better or better about herself. She doesn’t. Doesn’t bother me in the slightest. Her body, her life, all her choice. I can’t wait to see Maleficient. She is magnificent as Maleficient. She is magnificent as Angelina.

They have been through a lot. All the non-stop talk about Jennifer and how horrible Angelina was. Had to take a toll. Angelina used to talk to the press and do interviews. Not anymore. She is probably tired of people talking about her personal life and her weight. She’s dropping out of sight, doing on the things that are meaningful for her. Spending time with her family. Read her early interviews. She is really quite delicate. Brad is a God send to her. He is making a big family possible and making it possible for her to have the time and organization she needs to balance family and humanitarian work. Now she is living a new dream of writer/director. She must have super great karma to get Brad, a man who cherishes her and takes awful good care of her and the family. And she has a fabulous family that she never even imagined. She must be super duper good in her heart to deserve such astounding bounty from the Universe.
I live in NYC and I see celebrities fairly often. It would never in a million years occur to me to whip out my phone and blatantly take a picture of someone. It’s just so rude (not to mention desperate and touristy). Isn’t it bad enough that they have to deal with the paps? I would honestly like to know who on this board would ever do such a thing? (By the way, I might not be above sneaking a photo surreptitiously in a restaurant or something but NEVER the way the people on the above photos are doing it.)
