Good lord. Sometimes it seems like Jonah Hill just lives for “one step forward, two steps back.” Maybe he’s just gotten too famous, too rich, too successful too fast. Jonah’s 30 years old, he’s been famous for a good chunk of his adult life, he’s got two Oscar nominations and a dozen hit movies, and he has issues. Whether it’s acting like a douchebag in interviews, getting into Twitter spats with CNN anchors or now this, dropping the word “f—got” on a paparazzo. Ugh.
Jonah Hill lost his cool. The 22 Jump Street actor, 30, was followed by photographers this weekend when he was walking with a friend in the Los Angeles neighborhood Larchmont. Wearing printed shorts, a polo T-shirt, sneakers, and a baseball cap, Hill ignored the cameras for most of his stroll. One cameraman continued to try to speak to him, teasing the actor about his outfit by saying, “I like the shorts though, bro. They are pretty sexy.”
As he walked away with his pal, turning down a side street, the paparazzo continued to follow him, finally giving up and saying to the star, “Have a good day.”
Hill snapped back, throwing a homophobic slur at the man. “Suck my d–k, you f—-t,” he retorted to the photographer.
I’m including the video at the end of the post. While I think the cameraman was totally gross and I absolutely hate it when the paparazzi try to bait celebrities, there really wasn’t a reason for Jonah to drop the f-bomb. What the crap?
Anyway, Jonah “took responsibility” for the incident when he appeared on Howard Stern’s show today. Jonah said, in part: “What I said in that moment was disgusting … I shouldn’t have said that.” Jonah also said the paparazzo had been following him around all day and saying sh-t about his family. And Jonah said he has always been supportive of gay rights, etc, he has gay friends, you get the idea. Is this Alec Baldwin-level hate-speech?

This pr*ck was so annoying on Graham Norton the other night. I wish Channing Tatum (or better yet, Julie Andrews) had just told him to go take a seat in the Green Room til the adults were done having talksies.
What did he do on Graham Norton?
I thought he came across rather well and funny. And I didn’t have that high an opinion of him going in.
I completely agree. I actually throughly enjoyed the show, especially every time Julie Andrews spoke.
Did anyone see him on Ireland’s biggest chat show, The Late Late Show? He kept asking the host if he was nervous, because he looked nervous and it was making him (Jonah) feel nervous. Verrrry awkward and a bit rude
Who would want to look at photos of him, anyway?
Evidently quite a few people. He’s famous for appearing in films, so people apparently pay to see and hear him. Is he not pretty enough for you? I don’t get it.
No, he is not pretty enough for me. It seems like the commenters here on CB are so defensive of ugly people.
You need to spend more time here if that’s what you think.
Ehhhh, I feel like that photog was totally egging him on. We are capable of unleashing hurtful words in moments of anger, and he gave a real apology….
I buy it, but it better not happen again.
I agree that we’re capable of unleashing hurtful words in moments of anger, but the words that come out of us in those moments reveal a lot about who we are as a person.
This says a lot about Jonah, IMO, and none of it is good.
I agree with samtha. I know I can go on a tirade out of anger, anyone can. But bigoted and racist words aren’t in my personal vocabulary so no matter how angry I am they just don’t come out of my mouth. There’s an underlying problem here.
It’s disappointing because I really like JH
The more he’s out the more his personality is showing him to be pretty hate fueled. And it doesn’t take much for him to be set off.
Hill is more stuck up than most know and he’s very Goop-esque.
it’s just words. I’m more insulted by everything barked out by Ms Paltrow then any ‘naughty words’ this dude says.
Reset the apology clock
I wish I didn’t think he was so talented and funny. Dude has major “little man” issues.
It makes sense. He can’t control his gluttony and he can’t control his mouth. But really this was not that big of a deal. It’s a response said in anger to an aggressive pap who was hassling him all day.
Is getting in shape and modifying portions that difficult? The roll of fat around his chin is most unattractive.
Actually, yeah it is, otherwise there wouldn’t be an obesity problem of epic portions in the western world.
Also, be overweight isn’t always about ‘gluttony’ it is a combination of different things and is not so simply overcome.
Way to body shame.
I agree with StaceyP, I know if I were a millionaire I’d weigh 300 lbs and then get lipo.
Hey Sabrine, here’s a clue: I’ve struggled to lose pounds and get to a healthy weight for most of my life, and I’m 41 now. Wanna know how I did it? Do ya? Do ya?!
I got f—ing mononucleosis and was too sick to eat for a MONTH. You insensitive twit.
No it’s not that complicated especially when you are stinking rich and can get a personal trainer, chef etc. but rich or poor you have to want it and have your head in the right space.
As you can see though people will always find a boatload of excuses instead of owning their sh*t. I’ve struggled with my weight over the years and don’t blame anyone but myself for it. I’m the one who ate more calories than I spent at my desk job so I paid for it. Yes of course some people have medical reasons (hormonal, cortisone etc) that makes it near impossible to manage their weight but let’s face it, it’s a minority.
The problem is people are not educated regarding how processed foods are ultracalorific. They’ll look at a muffin or a little pre made sandwich and because it says it has oats in it don’t realize that it will cost them massive calorie points. Which is fine if you have an active job but most of us sit at a desk or just stand all day. Your body has no use for all those calories. Your head tells you you’ve worked hard because you’re stressed out and did work hard but that work did not use up calories it was cerebral not physical! So people get into trouble that way.
And yeah I do find him really unattractive fat or thin. The chin roll really does increase the ugliness factor, I’m also one of those who find him really, really annoying.
He’s rich, so he can afford to go to the doctor if he has a thyroid, cortisol, or other type of medical problem for his weight. Didn’t he lose a lot of weight with the gastric bypass operation? So many gain the weight back and more afterward. I agree that he could have the best trainers, dietitians, chefs, and even personal food shoppers at his disposal if he wanted. If I had all that, I’d be back at my healthy weight. But doctors and quality food takes money, and unfortunately, I don’t have much of that right now.
I have never liked him and this is just another reason. Personally, I think he’s gay and lashes out to try to hide it. He should just own who he is and he’d be happier. He’s a mean, rude, and overrated person, in my opinion.
@Izzy
I hear you Izzy ((Hugs)) Got that illness about 15 years ago, for six weeks, and that has been the only time in my life my weight was close to a model’s (90 pounds) and I used to get so sick at just smelling food that I was a recluse in my own bedroom all the time.
About Jonah Hill, I read the article and found it was a confirmation to what I already thought about him, he comes across as funny in movies but as an arrogant idiot in real life. This does not excuse the paparazzo behaviour, of course.
Ugh- this douche? Just don’t ever use that word…it’s so hateful.
i agree with you! cant stand his goofy a$$ & he isn’t funny
The only thing I find shocking about this story is that I realized he is only 30 years old. Wow. I put him closer to 40. He is near the Kardashian level of dislike for me. I wish they would take their money, buy a private island and live incommunicado for the rest of their days.
I can’t even imagine being followed around like that. I’d probably tell him to suck my dick, too. Without the f word though.
Yeah… I don’t think most of regular folks know what it’s like to be followed around by cameras every day or have our business splattered all over the internet. We need to cut some of these celebrities a break (not the Kardashians, though… they enjoy the famewhoring, so they don’t get any of my sympathy).
Perhaps he should have used a different word instead of f*****. Please do, next time Jonah.
First of all, when you react this way, you’re giving the pap what he wants. It’s a story now, when before it was just pictures nobody would want to see. Second, there’s no excuse for calling someone that word. I don’t care if you’re angry. You obviously feel that there’s something wrong with being gay, or you won’t use that expression. Apology not accepted.
I think we need stricter laws about what paps do to harass celebs, but Jonah did exactly what the pap hoped he would. Stupid.
I do not have a problem with the d-ck sucking comment, I am not male and I may have used that line in the past as well, but the homophobic slur is too much.
I. Hate. When he talks. Hate it. It’s always ‘when I grew up in the Hamptons, Bobby DeNiro told me one time’ blah blah blah blah. He went for the “I know gays” defense in his apology too. Go away!
“We all know his brother is hung like a baby gnat” OMG *gasps for air* lol
… whilst making casual allusions to his weight in the friendliest terms makes this tirade so much more acceptable.
I’ll give him a pass this time, since he said the word out of anger/ frustration rather than out of malice or hatred.
I can understand being frustrated and losing your cool when being harassed (though seriously why is he of interest to paparazzi?), but it would just never cross my mind to throw out that particular word. Hopefully he learns from this experience and doesn’t do it again.
Stay classy, Jonah.
OMG!!!!! LMAO
This comment made me spit out my drink. thank you for the laughs.
There is no excuse to use the that word. It’s disgusting and wrong. That being said, I don’t blame him for snapping and saying something rude. I don’t know that what he said was important (besides the f-word which is hate-speech) but rather he was furious and showing his anger with being followed and made fun of by some scummy loser taking his pictures and filming him while he is out as a private citizen. I was annoyed FOR him.
I don’t know. When I’m angry/hurts myself I can yell out c*nt and such things. Not because I think the vagina is a bad or insulting, but because I’ve been “taught” those are things you do say in such situations.
Here’s a rule: DO NOT SAY F88888, C888, or N88888. Just don’t do it. You’re an a88hole if you do.
IT’S REALLY THAT SIMPLE. I dont care how angry you are or what you were “taught” to say. Isn’t our free will and ability to rationalize what separates us from animals???? Damn.
yes you are so highly evolved. Calling strangers animals and assholes *snorts*
I wonder if he has any residual effects of inhabiting his character on The Wolf of Wall Street and being in that environment. It’s exactly what his character would have said. *shrugs* Giving him the benefit of the doubt b/c have no reason not to–it’s his first offence AFAIK and I like his work.
Sadly, the timing diverts attention from that waste of air Justin Bieber and his scandal.
keepin’ it klassy. douchebag.
I gather this is common parlance among Di Caprio’s posse, so yeah. Dumb jerks. I was disappointed to read that the guy who plays Stan on Mad Men also engaged in this kind of behavior when he was one of the bros.
There are so many insults & swear words; why go the race/sexuality/gender well at all unless you’re really invested in that construct to define your masculinity? Shallow hateful dweebs.
If papparazzi choose to stalk and harass people, they should be able to deal with a few insults. It is part of the hazards of their job, so to speak.
He should not have to apologize. In fact I am sick of people making public apologies to jerks.
Well I never did think he was the sharpest tool in the shed.
The paparazzo was harassing him and egging him on, calling his shorts “sexy”. In that context I don’t find Jonah’s words so out of line.
Soooooo Paula Deen lobbing the “N” word at a man who robbed her at gunpoint is OK then? It’s one of the other kids!
Ugh…don’t feed the troll.
no talented losser! isn’t this idiots 15 minutes up yet!
Even though I hate when a person qualifies a statement with “As a …,” to make them sound like the end all authority on a subject , I need to say; As a homosexual person, I don’t have any hard feelings about the outburst, or feel hurt by the words he said. I’m pretty sure most have had situations where the frustration and anger over someone constantly goading and taunting them, have led them to say something they didn’t mean and completely regret. It definitely looked like he was at the point that he wanted to say the most hurtful thing he could to get back at the guy following him. I know I’ve said a few things I regret. And they tasted as bad coming out of my mouth as they were meant to make the other person feel. It wasn’t that I meant them, it was just the most horrible thing I could say to one-up the other guy. If there’s anything with his behavior to be upset about, it’s that he momentarily regressed to playground tactics to respond to a person who was equally being childish and a bully. I’m not so worried about the person, who at a moment of immaturity and anger, says something hurtful. I’m more worried about those who genuinely think and feel those same hurtful things under the surface, while preaching the opposite and smiling to your face.
