Even though I adore Angelina Jolie, it’s a complete mystery to me why people have started talking about her like she’s some kind of style icon. Tim Gunn talked about her like she’s the most flawless woman on the red carpet this awards season. In my mind, sometimes Angie gets it right, sometimes she gets it wrong. When she’s wrong, it’s not horrible (though she should maybe get a new stylist), but when she’s right, it’s pretty spectacular.
Say what you will about someone like Nicole Kidman (and I’ve said a lot of negative stuff about her), but Nicole really knows how to dress, and you can tell she spends a lot of time putting together her look, which I appreciate as a casual observer. No matter what my feelings about Nicole, I can’t deny that she makes for a really interesting red carpet. Angelina usually looks like she just grabbed the first dress she tried on, which, as I said, is sometimes good, sometimes bad.
As it turns out, I’m right about Angelina putting on the first dress she sees, according to an OK! interview with designer Nicole Miller. Apparently, Jolie has worn a few of Miller’s dresses in the past (news to me), and Miller claims that Angie isn’t one of those fashionistas who’s always in the designer’s studio for fittings and whatnot. Miller was always surprised when Angie wore one of her dresses, because she must have gotten it off the rack. Shocking!
Most female celebs spend hours closeted with exclusive designers to find just the right look for important events, discussing every detail, color and fabric.
But Angelina Jolie is so relaxed about clothing her perfect body, she just picks her gowns right from the racks!
“I’ve met Angelina but every time she’s worn my dresses I didn’t know she was going to wear it so it was a surprise to me,” designer Nicole Miller tells OK!. “She didn’t wear it because I was working with her. I wasn’t expecting it.”
Nicole usually finds out Angie’s wearing one of her pieces after the star is photographed on the red carpet, and her friends tell her, ” ‘Angelina Jolie is in the paper with your dress on.’ I go, ‘Really?’ I had no idea she was wearing it.”
Although the busy mom skips lengthy style sessions with the designer, Nicole says when they met she was nothing but nice.
“And she’s not as tall as I thought she would be,” she adds. “She was just very pleasant and easy.”

Earlier today, we reported on Angelina’s desire to wear a blinged-out necklace “to impress Jennifer Aniston”, which many of you think is utter bullshit. I agree. I’d be willing to bet Angie already has her off-the-rack dress already picked out, including accessories. Although it’s really nice to know that Angelina is “easy.”

She is so skinny I am sure she can find a lot of clothes that look good. It seems to me that her humanitarian work has truly made her a more selfless person, and I am not an Angie harpie either. I think she probably knows what she likes, sees something, goes with it, and doesn’t second guess herself. It would seem funny to me if she were as big as she is with the charity work she does and then some total nightmare about her possessions, whether they are dresses or whatever, so I think this makes sense.

I think that while everyone loves to hate her, you gotta respect that she’s just so happy with herself that she just does what the rest of us do and picks out something we think looks nice and just goes with it.
And I think that’s what makes her choices so elegant, it’s the way in which she carries herself in these outfits. She know she’s happy in her own skin and that’s great.
P.S. Agreed that Nicole Kidman is hands down, what I would consider a vogue type woman. Very fashion forward, very well-dressed and always styled to perfection. You can tell she’s very meticulous about every detail and she always looks stunning.
Save for the occasional times she pulls her hair up too tight and she’s got this pained look going on.
I know what you mean about some of her dresses being kind of “meh” but I think she has a total, consistent look, from casual about-town to UN meeting suits to red-carpet gowns that is her own. She doesn’t just wear different outfits, she has a certain unfussy, clean-line style. I like her look because she almost always is dressed basically like a regular, adult person, not someone in a weird costume.

I’m an Angelina fan, but come on! The woman’s easy to dress because, physically, she’s a clothes hanger… with boobs… and a larger-than-average, albeit very pretty head securely attached at the top instead of a hanger-hook.
I think she’s easy too in the sense that she doesn’t seem (from designers’ accounts) to throw temper tantrums when something isn’t how she likes it.
There are a lot of skinny pretty actresses/models/whatever out there. But not all of them the design world would consider “easy” just because of the mere fact that I bet they insist on trying 4million things on and then deciding that they’re going to go with a different designer altogether.
Angelina is a mother of 6. It would be a little bizarre if she spent hours chosing and fitting an outfit. I’m sure Ms. Jolie has much more important things to do. Unlike Nadya Suleman, who despite having 14 kids has time to pamper herself with cosmetic surgery, manicures, and $14 tubes of lipstick.
Angelina wore an $87.00 dress to one of these events, no big deal really. It was nice and simple. People talked about the dress for weeks. I don’t get the big fancy over priced dresses with a matching purse and shoes that cost 9,000 or more for a night. That’s not even including hair, makeup and nails. So many high priced divas out there, but not Jolie.
AJ can weart just about anything and look gopod in it and she doesn’t cover herself in jewls either. I like how she and Brad compliment each other by the colors they wear. They blend and dont look like a 3 ring circus.
They can crab about her all day long and yack about shrines or whatever they need to do to make themselves look
like they know what they are talking about lol but she still would out shine any of the nay sayers on the red carpet.

Nicole used to have dreadful style; she now seems more glam but hopefully now she’s a mum she’s got something else to make her feel good about herself.
Angie says she goes for comfort; I dont think she’s as obssessed about herself like some divas are; she’s also got a lot of other more important stuff going on. Guess it’s all about how you prioritise in your life. With all the media hysteria around Angelina, it’s incredible how she stays down to earth.

I think she has something special. Lover her or hate her, you can not ignore the good that she does and that she loves Brad and her family. They have some tough odds to fight in Hollywood where the truth seldom outlives the lies that tabs tell.

She’s been described as petite by people who have met her.
I think she’s had a few misses lately, but she’s looked great on every occasion for the past several years. She especially looked good when she was working for St. John. It’s easy to see why they hired her. Considering she is the same age as a lot of people who live in jeans, she has dressed much better, even in casual clothes.

I have not loved all of her Red Carpet looks, but when she is on the Red Carpet it is all about her. Love her choices or not.. Monday morning she will be the talk. She wears her clothes they do not wear her. She never over does it. Simple, no fuss, and she never overdoes it. The most jewelry she has worn was RC 2004. And I love how she never over poses on the carpet. She and Brad just enhance each other. I’m sure if asked, Every designer out there would want her to were their clothes..
On note.. the dress she wore at AMH was $26.00. I bet everyone remembers it too.

Get real, people. She has a stylist who has said that she spends a lot of time carefully choosing outfits that various designers send her. She also wears $800 shoes. Some humanitarian with her homes worth in the tens of millions, the enormous retinue, and the extravagant lifestyle. How much medical care would $800 shoes buy in Africa?
Incredible hypocrite. They live like royalty and expect us to buy this humanitarian crap? I’ll believe it when they donate the cost of their lifestyle to their humanitarian causes.
Several of their causes will not allow legal disclosure of how much of their wealth actually goes for direct services. And when you consider that between them they are worth several hundred million, one paltry million-dollar gift here and there is nothing.
Yeah – she’s easy to dress because she wears the same f-ckin thing over and over again, in varying shades of black. Sometimes (gasp!) she wears blue.

My opinion is that everyone is sooo used to the idea ‘if you’re rich and famous’ you have to ‘act’ rich and famous which includes what?? spend thousands on drags on getting styled before an event? To then what – look like a utter fool sometimes…? And then find yourself on the ‘WORST’ dressed list…? Hello – if people really knew fashion, even designers (which most are given waayyy too much credit than they deserve)they would focus more on style rather than price.
Us peons do the same BS – when we have a special occasion – go get a brand new this or that – get all done up and end up looking like everyone else – like clowns and the ones who we say “wow that’s a nice dress” 90% of the time we hear a reply of ‘oh, this thing I pulled it out of my closet’ or ‘you wont believe how much it cost, it was on sale…’ so stop hating. Come back down to earth people. IT IS WHAT IT IS.
