“Am I the only person who isn’t crazy about this Intersteller trailer?”

No, you’re not the only one. But then again, I find Christopher Nolan’s movies incredibly overrated.

    • lisa2 says:

I feel the exact same way. This movie doesn’t excite me. And I love science fiction.

    • SamusAran says:

The trailer is awful. I made it through half, including the time I had to his fast forward!

    • Amelia says:

I just can’t bring myself to care about it.
Feels like we’ve seen it all before in Armageddon. Only this time with fewer explosions and no Steve Buscemi.

    • Camille (The Original) says:

It looks slightly more interesting than Gravity was (and I thought Gravity was massively over rated), but overall I’m very ‘meh’ about it as well.

    • Vesta says:

Agreed, that trailer felt dull. Also relieving to hear that not everyone loves Nolan.

A friend of mine who is a big fan of comic book films genre tried to lure me into that genre by taking me to watch Nolan’s Batman trilogy. He said that Nolan’s exceptional style easily “sucks one into any universe”. Well, didn’t happen to me…and I was puzzled why Nolan is supposed to be so different.

(I’ve nothing against comic book films per se – it’s just that I know VERY little about comic books. I’m not able to understand any references or details in those films and the rare times I see them I end up feeling like a total outsider!)

  2. Abbott says:

Maybe this is just me, but it doesn’t look like MM’s face quite recovered from losing all that weight for Dallas Buyer’s. Like, the elasticity is somehow gone. Jake Gyllenhaal’s face is kind of doing the same thing since he lost weight for Nightcrawler.

    • T.C. says:

Not just you. It’s pretty obvious now that his face will never get back to normal.

This trailer sucks big time. Was practically choking on the heavy handed sentimentality. Baseball, crying children, sappy music. Blah, blah, blah. On the other hand it’s nice to know when saving the world only the USA and White people are important, well except for that one Black guy. The large mass of people in Asia, South America, and Africa obvious don’t count. LOL.

    • phlyfiremama says:

I think its WAY too much botox. His forehead hasn’t budged an inch in well over a decade. Over time, the botoxed muscles atrophy from lack of use and it makes the face look bizarre. and unbalanced.

      • T.C. says:

I didn’t know that long term Botox use can do that to your face muscles. Mathew practically aged overnight into an old man with no fat or muscle on his face.

  3. Hissyfit says:

I’m with Lainey. I’m not crazy about this Interstellar movie and this trailer isn’t convincing me to get excited either.

  4. Reece says:

I think it’s the Dylan Thomas Effect. That poem makes you want to stand on something tall and scream it out to the world.

  5. Isabelle says:

I really like it. Doesn’t seem like your typical space movie and will be interesting to see how Nolan approaches the relationships in the movie. Like Nolan films but he’s not so great with developing personal relationships in his movies. This seems opposite of what tends to do.

  6. M says:

Trailer looks great, despite Matthew doesn’t convince me as an astronaut.
BTW Anne looks like a boy.

  7. Sumodo1 says:

Jeez, if this movie is another “Contact,” WB has a big problem.

    • Eve says:

It does look a lot like Contact, doesn’t it? I thought I was the only one.

      • FLORC says:

Not the only 1! I was scrolling down to post I thought the same thing.

Contact (for me) was terrible because it asked too much of the viewer to just assume was plausable. I watch a movie so I can. Not assume.

  8. Sooloo says:

OMG the Momoa discussion over at DListed is outta control and SO FREAKIN HOT!

  9. don't kill me i'm french says:

Someone( Nolan) is a huge big fan of Malick!

  10. Hmmm says:

Pretentious as hell, sorry I don’t get Nolan at all! And MM takes himself way to serious.

  11. vv007 says:

I am interested 🙂 I will see it.

  12. lucy2 says:

I love Nolan films, I think he’s a really good story teller so I’ll always check out his movies. I’ve always appreciated his lack of CGI and love of practical effects, so I’m curious to see how that is with a space movie. Good cast too.

    • don't kill me i'm french says:

My Nolan’s fav movies are Batman Begins and The Prestige what the clue that i’m not a Nolan fan
Am i the one to think McConaughey looks like Christian Bale in this trailer? I think Nolan brothers have a crush on Bale’s looking ( Guy Pearce,Bale,Caviezel,McConaughey and even Cillian Murphy in Inception look like each other)

      • astark says:

Those two movies of Nolan are my favorite too. Bale is fantastic in both. I didn’t really like this trailer but here’s to hoping Nolan surprises me.

  13. Francis says:

It looks great to me. Love Matthew too.

  14. phlyfiremama says:

Husband and I saw Lucy today. It was awesome! Finally, a recent ScarJo movie that ISN’T all jiggle. As Lainey points out, women will start getting better roles and get better quality entertainment geared towards attracting female audiences of ALL ages when they/we spend our money on them. Enough with the insipid rom-coms, damsel in distress saved by masculine hero, and insecurity stricken stereotypes!! On a totally different note, is there some kind of Hwood conspiracy that dictates Morgan Freeman must be in every 3rd or 4th movie made? I love the man and his acting, it just seems like he is in everything these days!

    • Annie says:

Looks incredible. Not a systematic Nolan fan – love Memento and The Prestige, but Inception annoyed the hell out of me (can’t stand Di Caprio) and the Batmen left me cold.

McConaughey looks brilliant in this. If you haven’t seen it, his work in True Detective’s probably the most complex and fascinating performance an actor has given in a decade. The guy’s on fire. Not bothered that he has lost his boyish good looks, has wrinkles, looks his age, makes an interesting change from all the other nipped and tucked and botoxed leading men. I like his haggard handsomeness – all cheekbones.

  15. Francis says:

I think he’s absolutely gorgeous. True detective was brilliant.
I’d go see him read a menu in a pizza parlor. Something about him is very like able , I hope this movie is a Hit for him.

  16. Ravendaughter says:

All over “Interstellar” like a cheap suit. And yes, Michael Caine reading Dylan Thomas pushed me over…
“Do not go gentle into that good night,
    Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.”

    …and that’s just the first stanza…
