What the HELL with that 7th Heaven link? WTF?

    • winosaurusrex says:

Yea…can we just talk about how out of left field this one was? Like I never want to stop being surprised at this stuff, because I never want to be jaded to the point I expect it-but seriously like the LAST person I would expect this from is Reverend Camden….god….those poor kids. =/

      • Kiddo says:

Isn’t that always who it ends up being though? Much beloved coach or teacher, spiritual or religious leader, etc.?

      • wiffie says:

@kiddo but he’s not a teacher, coach or religious leader. He’s an actor. He got a job playing someone religious and trustworthy.

      • Kiddo says:

I was responding to winosaurusrex, who was blindsided by him being an actor in a ‘family values/family friendly’ series while also being a pedo. I know that he’s not a teacher or religious leader. But he managed to place himself in acting gigs where he had access to children, was surrounded by children, acted like a family-values hero, just as other pedos do.

    • paola says:

If I’m honest he always had a pervy look to me. Also I thought that show was incredibly creepy.
From the way it came out in the news it seems like he doesn’t care much?

    • holly hobby says:

I read the TMZ story. Apparently the wife used this as financial leverage during a divorce. She taped his confession 2 years ago when they were undergoing counseling. She didn’t even bother to go to the authorities with that confession. She whipped it out to get more money. I’m disgusted with both of them.

      • Kiddo says:

She’s despicable, but he is WORSE.

      • Sam says:

Yeah this is pretty sleazy on her part. I also wonder if the therapist who was present will get in trouble, since in most states, therapists are mandated reporters who MUST contact the cops if they have evidence of child abuse. Frankly, there are 3 terrible people here.

      • Kiddo says:

        @Sam, Yes, agreed.

      • fairyvexed says:

What? There’s no mention of finances in the TV story.

      • winosaurusrex says:

I just read (on TMZ) that the LAPD had this recording two years ago and investigated him and found nothing-but they’re reopened the investigation.

It’s interesting that 2 years ago they found nothing. I wonder if that was the case and they are reopening it due to media pressure, or if it was swept under the rug, because of who he is? Either way this is disturbing on so many levels.

      • fairyvexed says:

That’s funny, I read the same story.

Nobody said anything about money. Where did you see that?

      • Sam says:

My guess is that it was dropped because they couldn’t locate any victims and/or statute of limitation issues. Secret videotaping would be shaky evidence even in the best of situations – so generally, it needs corraboration. If no victims came forward, it would be a steep battle indeed to even indict him. It sounds like the NYPD might have evidence or suspect that some of the crimes happened while he lived in NYC, which is why there’s an investigation now.

Either way, his career is done. He’s on tape admitted to harming young girls, and that very well should end his career. But a criminal case is trickier. The Daily Mail said he hasn’t maintained an NYC residence since 1997, so it’s been 17 years. If we assume the girls were at least 3, then they’re 20 plus now. Assuming they can even be identified and located, they might not want to reopen such a chapter in their lives. Sadly, this happens a lot.

      • fairyvexed says:

That’s not true. That’s what HIS lawyer says.

    • Tiffany :) says:

…I am not seeing the 7th Heaven link here. Am I missing something, or did they remove it?

  2. Josefa says:

The Simpsons has marked it’s place in TV history as one of the most beloved shows of all time worldwide. Just let them die already. The pop culture references and gimmicks have become too much. I swear, the couch gags last longer than the damn episode now. Does anyone even watch it anymore? Everyone I know changes the channel whenever the new episodes are on.

    • TheCountess says:

They won’t shut it down until one of the principal voice actors passes away.

    • FLORC says:

      Agree.
They starrted repeating plots and I tuned out years ago. It was once such a staple and original. Now much less. Maybe i’ll catch a treehouse/horror on demand menu. And it’s not good.
Let them go with what grace they might still have.

And the Family guy/Simpsons mashup did admit to it being a cheap gimmick for ratings when shows are suffering.

      • Sam says:

The crazy thing is that in Season 6, when they did “A Star is Burns” – which was a crossover between the Simpsons and Jon Lovitz’s show “The Critic” Matt Groening actually railed against it and through it threatened the integerity of the show (when the episode actually wound up being pretty excellent). I have to wonder if the network basically mandated this or whether they’re truly that desperate for ideas.

  3. Racer says:

What does he do for a living?

  4. Jaderu says:

The Stephen Collins story…definitely last on my list of things that I thought I might read today. From a victim’s standpoint it’s kind of sketchy releasing that tape before a trial, but it’s good ol’ classy TMZ, so surprise!

    • winosaurusrex says:

In therapy you are covered by patient client privilege. I don’t know if that extends to joint sessions. I thoroughly hope that the recording was obtained legally (you know it’s going to be challenged to the death). I can’t even imagine….

      • JenniferJustice says:

It was not. Therapists are allowed to tape sessions with the patient’s consent. However, in this case, it not the therapist who taped the session. It was the soon to be ex and Collins was not aware she was taping. So, his character has been/will be assinated publicly, but the taped confession would not be allowed in court. She knew this, which is why she leaked it to the media. At least he has been outed even though the courts will find it inadmissable.

      • Kiddo says:

Doesn’t the therapist have an obligation to report someone who poses a danger? I realize that the taping was dome by the soon to be ex, but if he never underwent therapy for this issue, how is he not a risk for future acts?

      • winosaurusrex says:

If you don’t have proof they intend to commit future acts i don’t think you’re protected if you come forward. There needs to be proof they are a danger first.

Seems this was recorded at least 2 years ago, and the LAPD used it as a basis for an investigation which they closed.

How was it not discovered by TMZ then? Especially with the LAPD. I thought TMZ based it’s offices out of the LAPD headquarters based on the info they get.

      • fairyvexed says:

California is a one party state. The wife taped it after he initially confessed to her.

His therapist is a mandated reporter, which they should have reported it.

I see no mention whatsoever of the wife using the tape for black mail, as others have stated.

      • Sam says:

winsosaurusrex: that’s incorrect. Mandated reporters do not need evidence of future harm to report. Any evidence of child abuse must be reported, no matter where it comes from – victim, perp, or anyone else. That’s simply false. That is the standard for committing somebody, not reporting.

      • winosaurusrex says:

Interesting…I live in California and I’ve been in therapy on and off most of my life. Looks like most of my therapists and such were either not mandated reporters or had the wrong information.

      • Bridget says:

winosaurusrex: a mandated reporter is an individual who as a part of their job, is required to report any suspected or confirmed abuse of children. Teachers, doctors, etc are mandated reporters. One would think that a therapist is as well. And it doesn’t have to be within any sort of context of potential future harm.

      • Brionne says:

Therapists are mandated reporters. They are not required to have concrete proof that a crime has been committed. They are required to report if they suspect abuse. The report receiving agency will determine if there’s adequate info to act upon/investigate. Not reporting suspected abuse can result in big problems for mandated reporters.

  5. Zigggy says:

    Haha- awesome.

  6. Cora says:

TMZ has the full story. 🙁

    • fairyvexed says:

I want to know why people are accusing the wife when what they’re claiming has not turned up in a single story.

  7. Dany says:

LOL he seems like a funny cool guy

  8. Ana says:

Don’t give him too much credit for it, it was probably Jessica’s idea.

  9. Darkladi says:

    Douche

  10. JenniferJustice says:

Stephen Collins – always got a creepy vibe from that man. So, the Babysitter Seduction was real, huh?

  11. Sarah says:

I just died laughing at that Nickelback link. That guy is on a serious mission.

  12. katenotkatie says:

Swifty does wear glasses, usually wears contacts. Not sure why I know that.

  13. Ashlee says:

Does “Jessica’s husband” do anything well? He doesn’t work. Didn’t make it in the NFL. I guess he married well…

    • Anon says:

Maybe google him and you will see when he waznt injured he was very good. Injuries ended his carreer like it has done other players.Major concussion, broken sternum both from one major hit and ankle feet from another. Sad that many wont inquirer and base most on gossip with no knowledge. He has pensions and investments.. WHY DONT WE ASK THE SAME OF WOMEN. THEY ALWAYS GET A FREE PASS.He still holds a couple records.

    • Belle Epoch says:

ASHLEE I was going to say the same thing! What CAN he do, besides carry packages and make babies? And why does he always wear suits? Is being her husband his day job?

  14. Brionne says:

Oddly, I think it’s cute that Eric wasn’t too embarrassed to wear panties on his head in public. He looks nice in a suit and the graying beard looks cool on him too. Only thing is I’m getting younger version of blonde blue eyed papa Joe Simpson vibes when I look at him. But he and Jessica have grown on me. I’m over Nick now.

  15. Tiffany :) says:

My co-worker is eating so loudly that I am having a hard time reading! Grrrr….just had to share.
    😉

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Ugh. Pet peeve – lip smackers. You have my sympathies.

Hey some of us are trying to enrich our minds over here! Keep it down!

  16. Palermo says:

Back to this kook, it would be a cold day in hell before I went out with my husband with him wearing underwear on his head and face. WTH …

  17. Ravensdaughter says:

So many vigorous discussions about the contents of each link. As for the kick off link, let me suggest that Eric Johnson has a pleasantly warped sense of humor. Who cares, as long as those panties were clean? Also, they look solid together.

  18. becki says:

I LOVE Jessica’s outfit in the pic of them walking & holding hands. SUPER cute 🙂 Her husband is growing on me too. He seems to love her & love the kids. I hope that they can make this last!
