Carrie Underwood in a blue Temperley London dress: pretty or too frou-frou?

These are photos of Carrie Underwood, 31, outside The View yesterday. I love her loose curls and her makeup, she usually looks so pageanty so this is a nice, soft look for her. This royal blue Temperley London dress is kind of busy and young looking. There are too many patterns in the lace and the two tiers of satin ribbon on the hemline are too much. Normally she would get a pregnancy pass but Carrie doesn’t look pregnant at all here. She made a pregnancy announcement nearly two months ago, in early September, so maybe she announced earlier than usual or maybe she’s just disguising her bump under all that fabric. (This could be what’s going on with Princess Caroline. I hope everything is going fine for both of their pregnancies.)

Carrie was on The View with Brad Paisley to promote their upcoming gig co-hosting the CMAs next Wednesday, November 5th. (You can see the video of their appearance here.) It will be their seventh time hosting the show. As for her pregnancy, Carrie confirmed that she’s due in the Spring and said that she’s nervous about “being responsible for a tiny humanHollywood Life notes that you could see a little hint of a pregnancy on Carrie from the side but I couldn’t tell at all.

Last month, on The Today Show, Carrie told Hoda that she and her husband, Mike Fisher, 34, are still coming to terms with being parents. “It’s still kind of weird, to be honest. Sometimes I’ll be with my husband and I’m like, ‘I’m going to be a mom. You’re going to be a dad. Like, is this real life?’ But we’re really excited.

I like Carrie’s low-key approach to pregnancy. She’ll share some minor details but she plays her personal life somewhat close to the vest. She’s a celebrity who would theoretically have plenty of diet, fitness and lifestyle advice. She’ll tell you what works for her but she’s not telling other people how to run their lives. I appreciate that about her. She’s not going to have a kid and suddenly become an expert on motherhood.

She would look nice potted at Jlaw’s new house.

  2. kate says:

I think you mean Princess Charlene or her Serene Highness. Not Caroline.

  3. INeedANap says:

That looks like every ridiculous dress my mom made me wear as a little girl, and I feel phantom itchiness from the thought of it. OUT.

  4. OrangeBlohan says:

I think she looks classy! It’s nice to see a celebrity wearing actual clothes without their boobs or ass hanging out.

  5. Sumodo1 says:

Oh, horrors. Carrie is channelling Lynn Anderson and Tammy Wynette. 1970s country couture was so hokey that I am STILL not over it.

    • mimif says:

Yes, this. Reminds me of the doll collection my friend’s mom used to have from the 70’s too.

      • Kiddo says:

And you still visited her house? *Shudders* Doll collections are no less terrifying than clown collections.
        Read the horror story handbook.

      • mimif says:

I practically lived there (they had better cookies). The mom had a needlepoint pillow that read “Make Mine Country”, lots of lace curtains and doilies and doll collections. You would have loved it.

      • Kiddo says:

        Needlepoint=weaponry for dolls.

      • mimif says:

Are you psycho, per chance? Oh wait, I shouldn’t throw around that term. Hm, let me rephrase. Did you put babies in your cereal this morning?

      • Kiddo says:

I’m pretty sure you used them all up and the box was empty when I went to the cupboard this AM. I think I’m going to return to that thread and angrily tell you to “Shut your face!”

I just took my anti-psychs and am biding my time before I respond again.

Yeeeeeessss. I see the Tammy W. Brilliant.

      Sometimes its hard…to be a woman…givin’ all your love…to just one man…etc.

      Everybody!

Stand by your man….and tell the world you love him…that you’re so proud of him…even when he cheats on you (I never could understand that last line, so I made it up)

  6. Penelope says:

I love her but she’s never known how to dress. This is just awful.

  7. Jess says:

I like the color and length on her, and that it still covers a lot, but undecided on the design. Overall she looks gorgeous though, she has great legs! I don’t see a pregnancy belly either, but some women just don’t show for awhile, hopefully everything’s ok.

  8. GingerCrunch says:

As a former Dallasite, may I just say that perhaps you can take the girl out of Oklahoma…way too frou-frou!!!

  9. We Are All Made of Stars says:

I don’t 100% love it and would pass it up after some thoughts in the yonder direction, but I like it. I think she looks young and pretty here, such a deviation from that pageanty tacky overdone fried bleach hair and oompa loompa tan with complimentary overdone makeup she used to sport.

  10. Willa says:

I thought it was an Absolut vodka bottle she was holding at first! I was all, Damn girl! Lmao!

  11. Gina says:

Nobody can say anything to make me dislike or make light of Carrie Underwood. I came across Carrie and Vince Gill on YouTube singing How Great Thou Art at some country music show. Never ever have I heard the song sung so beautifully. I instantly become a fan of a girl I barely knew existed.

    • OrangeBlohan says:

She has one of the best voices ever. I cannot watch the video of her singing How Great Thou Art without tears. She is always classy and has a very long career ahead of her.

      • Gina says:

I don’t even care about her other music, it’s just that song. I listen to it first thing every morning and just like you, it never ends with a dry eye!

  12. Pri says:

I kinda like her shoes even though I’m generally not into pointy- toed heels. The colour is great.
Not a fan of her dress though.

  13. RobN says:

I really like her, but that is a LOT of dress. It’s weirdly too young and too old at the same time.

  14. JenniferJustice says:

There’s nothing wrong with this dress, but I don’t care for full skirts anymore. They seem pretty passe`. Once I saw the skirt, I was expecting shoulder pads or puffy sleeves, but at least there aren’t any. A straight skirt is more my liking.

  15. Kk2 says:

I dont care for the dress- maybe if it were short sleeved or sleeveless? I do think it essentially says “the current size of my uterus is none of your business.” As a currently pregnant person, i would like to say that to every person who comments on my body shape. Its weird and gross when not pregnant and feels about the same to me now! If i were as scrutinized as her, i would be camouflaging as well.

    Totally agree with this, CB.

The dress is OK, a little busy for my taste. It does say to me that she’s trying to cover up. I do like the hair & makeup though, and I like that blue color on her.
