Tom Hiddleston sang a special Christmas song for his Dragonflies: so cute?

wenn20776272

This is just a quickie post because I only just saw this a few minutes ago. Sorry, people! Tom Hiddleston decided to give every Dragonfly in the world a Christmas present! Tommy made a video with Rodney Crowell (the musician who helped Tommy research and prepare his Hank Williams character). Tommy held a dog. Tommy sang β€œWe Wish You a Merry Christmas.” And it’s a blessing.

Apparently, Tommy and Rodney were working together in the studio (Hiddles is in Nashville right now?!?!) and they β€œtook a short break to spread some holiday cheer at Rodney’s studio with his wonder dog, Mono.” The dog is named MONO!!!!!! That might be the best part of all.

What else is there to say? I hope 2015 brings us more Hiddles, because I did go through withdrawals this year. I need more Hiddles holding puppies. More Hiddles reciting poetry to ducks. More Hiddles dancing. MOAR HIDDLES.

I just can’t with this bastard. I love everything about this. The dog Mono just totally chilling on his lap. The way he’s holding him. His little joyful face.

This is as good as the picture Rodney posted of them singing and he looks so… joyful!

By all accounts this movie has taken a lot out of him but he still manages to look utterly enthralled by and in awe of these people he’s surrounded with. You can’t help but love him for that.

  2. aims says:

I love him.i can’t help it. I think this movie has been significant to him in many ways.

  3. Domino says:

    Love of my life! :3

  4. Miss Jupitero says:

I like how he makes the dog talk at the end. πŸ™‚

Question: His eyes are weirdly glowy. Is it the camera, or do contact lenses do this?

    • Lilacflowers says:

All their eyes are glowing demonically, even Mono’s. Either it is something weird with the lights and camera or he really is a frost giant.

  5. Lilacflowers says:

It is really refreshing to see someone so enthusiastic about being alive. The guy was born lucky and can do whatever he wants but , unlike others who are grumpy or spoiled, he always seems appreciative and thrilled with the opportunities he has.

  6. InvaderTak says:

Wait, reciting poetry to ducks? I missed that! Where?

  7. vauvert says:

Total sweetheart. Bless him, and hope we see more of him next year. He is so honestly enthusiastic about life, you can’t help but adore him.

  8. scarf girl says:

I really hope he has a fantastic 2015. He has worked so hard on ISTL. Suspect (as a Nashvillian) that it is not hard for him to stay low key here and focus on the work. But hope he has enjoyed the running trails and restaurants b/c our food scene rocks.

    • MtnRunner says:

scarf girl, you haven’t been stalking him at the Loveless Cafe? Dotsons? The Bluebird? The Pantry? Dragonflies are counting on you to rep us all!

      (former Nashvillian here…)

  9. koko says:

I imagine he understands the potential impact this role (ISTL) could have on his career going forth. He certainly has put the time and work into it. He looks relaxed and happy, good for him.

  10. InvaderTak says:

Why is the dogs name mono? Is that a music thing I’m not getting? Any ideas?

    • Lilacflowers says:

Mono was a type of recording back in the 60s. If you listen to a mono record, the sound splits and main vocals come out one speaker and backing tracks out another

      • scarf girl says:

I remember being really young and having this little transitor radio and switching from mono to stereo.

      • icerose says:

good old mono-I can remember going to out cottage without electricity on a Quebec lake and playing Tom Dooley by the Kingston Trio on an old windup record player which preceded mono. The neighbours were very patient as I was a bit obsessive about playing it

      • 'P'enny says:

I wondered if he was called mono because the dog is black & white?? 😜

        I love this vid ❀️❀️❀️❀️❀️

      • **sighs** says:

Well you learn something new every day! I had no idea about the mono/stereo thing. I always wondered. Now I know. Hmph. Thanks, ladies! (And Rodney, Tom & Mono)

      • icerose says:

@P’enny I am sure there was a dog involved in one of the earlier brands of record players -I have been trying to remember the name of it but it will not come back

      • **sighs** says:

        RCA

    • InvaderTak says:

Ah gotcha. Thanks oh ye knowledgeable Cb’s!

      • Camil says:

In spanish Mono has several meanings, for example “Cute” in japanese means… “thing”, so I think Lilac is right πŸ˜€

      • Anne tommy says:

Icerose, The dog was nipper, the label was ” his Masters Voice” – ie the dog was listening to it on the record- which lives on in the record chain HMV. Not being smartarsey but Nothing to do with RCA unless they’ve taken over HMV.

    • solanaceae (Nighty) says:

Ok, now I’m feeling old because I know what it is to listen to mono… or stereo… And I’m only 39… God, I’m old… lol

He’s looking good and happy.. good for him…

  11. EM says:

He is the most likeable actor there is.

  12. Abby_J says:

    Consider my day made, Tommy.

  13. ellesbelles says:

*ties off arm, pokes vein, injects more tom, passes out*

Yes. Yes this is so cute. I cant even handle this man anymore. Best addiction ever.

In the past 12 hrs, ive watched olla, henry iv, an episode of wallander, and listened to museof fire. Im overdosing I tell you

    • Oh Hey says:

Ellesbelles you are a USER…LOL This will not end well for you….. Rehab…stat!

The video was sweet, Rodney must be one of the nicest people on the planet to have spent so much time on this film and with Tom, months of training, and then there will be a soundtrack!

      • ellesbelles says:

Rehab is the hal sauna scene on loop right? I would be ok with that

      • Oh Hey says:

Oh right, ok, because a sauna with Nekkid Tom will be so relaxing… ;D

      • ellesbelles says:

Im always thinking about the best case scenario. Hot sweaty naked, whats not to like?

      • icerose says:

and the boding between them is just so enjoyable. Put two really nice guys together and this is what you get,

      • Gracie says:

Knock, knock, elles, are you there? I need to borrow hot, sweaty, naked Tommy once you’re done with him – by borrow I meant, please share in the spirit of holiday season!

      • ellesbelles says:

@Gracie I guess I can share seeing as its the holidays. I shall send him your way with chocolates, wine, and a voucher to send your mum to the spa so you guys can have some peace and she leaves you alone for awhile x

      • Oh Hey says:

Wait a minute, what about me?

    • icerose says:

you do not want to watch early dorky ,innocent Hiddles in Suburban shoot out -it is beyond cute,

    • Allegra says:

Wow, It is the marathon with Tom Hiddleston’s movies.
It reminds me of the marathon that some cinemas in the US organized with the trilogy of Lord of the Rings.

    • jammypants says:

What did you think of OLLA?

      • ellesbelles says:

I actually really enjoyed it. Its usually not my type of film, but it was so beautifully shot and acted and of course Queen Tilda is everything. I really really liked it

      • jammypants says:

Glad to hear! I found myself pleasantly surprised as well. I’m not a huge Jarmusch fan and find his films very pretentious, but this one felt just right with a little tongue in cheek.

  14. Camil says:

Awww Tom, you little piece of beauty!! I’ve never understood the reason why they call you “life ruiner” until I counted every hour I spent watching your gorgeous face jajajaja.

I’m glad he’s having fun, Tom deserves to sleep, eat and dance a lot!

By the way, I think his new name is Tom Crowell xD

  15. MtnRunner says:

Ahh, I love seeing a Happy Hiddles. I do hope tho’ that his next tweet confirms he is on holiday and getting some much needed rest. Our boy’s worked hard this year.

I suspect his fan base will be broadening well beyond the Marvel Universe here in the US with all the projects he has coming out in 2015. Can’t wait for ISTL!

    • ava says:

What a sweetheart!!!!!!!! Love it. 2015 is going to be a big year for Tom. He deserves all the best for his hard work! Super cute video. I don’t think I have ever heard Tom say a negative comment. Seems like a really nice man.

      • MtnRunner says:

Tom really is the consummate politician. He is loathe to criticize. Snark is not his default setting — publicly at least. He isn’t called Tommyanna for nothing!

      • Allegra says:

        @MtnRunner:
Is Tommyanna has something to do with Eleanor H. Porter’s novel Pollyanna?

      • jammypants says:

oh the man can snark if he wants to “http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/6f/7d/2d/6f7d2d3d416203fbc30dffd35b202638.jpg”

      • MtnRunner says:

Allegra: yes. It’s due to his eternal optimism… not to be confused with TommyAnnE, which is a reference to AnnE Hathaway’s try-hardness.

Jammy, that wasn’t too bad. Not Bendy-level snark imo. It is nice to see Tom show a little sarcasm and not dripping with sweetness 100% of the time.

  16. betsy says:

Puke inducing. The guy gives me the creeps.

    • Josa says:

For the spirit of Xmas, Hanukkah and Winter Solstice, don’t be so bitter.

    • Allegra says:

      Dear Betsy:
Please go to the right thread: Stephen Collins or Bill Cosby.
      See you there!

      • MtnRunner says:

Yes to this! Go spew some venom at those that have actually acted like a$$holes, instead of the nice guys that you don’t particularly fancy.

      • Camil says:

Or maybe she needs a doctor, does the “puke inducing” phrase mean that she has a bulimia problem?

I hope not xD. A Cumbermedicine could help her
        o.0

    • MtnRunner says:

betsy, it’s totally ok if Tom rubs you the wrong way. No one’s gonna please everyone. But if you don’t click on his posts just to say something nasty. Unless he’s done something truly douchebaggy (like um, sexually molested girls or commit racist crimes etc), all you do is fill the feed with vitriol. Doesn’t do anything good for humanity and is just plain mean.

In the spirit of Christmas and goodwill toward all people, perhaps learn from Tom’s example and be loathe to say something negative instead of taking such joy in it.

      • jammypants says:

BennyBatches rubs her the right way. There’s a brit for every type of gal.

      • MtnRunner says:

Yes there is, thank God! Betsy may be taking her frustration with Bendy’s engagement antics out on poor Hiddles since all Tommy did in this post was sing off pitch!

    • Miss Jupitero says:

Oh please guys, is this the Spanish Inquisition? Let’s all lighten up. Nobody is going to float everyone’s boat.

      • MtnRunner says:

No, it’s not a big deal. But my frustration with people being nasty eventually hits a boiling point, and I hit my limit today. It’ll be another few months before I feel the need to smack someone down again…

      • jammypants says:

Just watch the video again Mtn, and it’ll give you the squee’s and relax you a bit.

      • MtnRunner says:

jammypants, actually, his singing makes me cringe! I have both kids home today… they’re driving me crazy. I was already near the boiling point. πŸ™‚

        These make me feel better…

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GaO0oMniMQ

      • Allegra says:

        @ Miss Jupitero:

Everyone has the right to express your opinion, but offend someone is completely different, even someone like Tom who has a reputation for being polite and generous with colleagues, fans and journalists.

      • Josa says:

It’s Christmas time, and there’re jolly people singing carol and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. Then there’s Betsy putting on her Mr. Grinch hat trying to spoil it. It’s no Spanish Inquisition, just the fairy little Xmas tale.

No one is asking Betsy to like Tom, we are just telling Betsy the holiday season isn’t the time to be mean spirit. We are rejoicing here. If she can’t feel the spirit, she can bring her disapproval somewhere else and spare us her grinch.

      • jammypants says:

@Josa, she’s always done this though. Don’t take it to heart. It’s just her thing. I do appreciate her honestly. There’s no subtle shading. It’s just very forward :p

      • Josa says:

        @jammypants. I know about Betsy.
Like MtnRunner said she’s frustrated, I’m too. Nothing to do with anyone just 2014 is a bad year for me. I’ve been telling my sister that I can’t feel Xmas though it’s just a week away. I’m running out of time to get cheer up for the holidays. I’m trying to feel the spirit by listening to carols. I envy Tom, he always looks like he’s having a jolly good time.

Now I feel bad for being pissy at Betsy. That’s not very holiday spirit either. I shall wish her a very happy holiday, like I wish that to you all.

      • MtnRunner says:

Josa, don’t feel bad. Celebs get called out here (including Hiddles) and so do those who comment offensively. Sorry to hear your 2014 was a bad year; wishing you a much better 2015.

I love the fact that posters feel free to mock their crushes here. People are amusing and I enjoy laughing at them as much as laugh at myself. I have no problem with people expressing a different opinion or not liking a particular celeb that I happen to like, but to say someone makes them want to vomit — something they would never say to the person’s face because it’s cruel — and not offering anything substantive to why they feel that way bothers me. It’s precisely the kind of speech I want my kids to avoid. I want to teach them how to use their brains critically and still show respect for those they criticize. I hope to teach them to be specific in what they don’t like and why, recognizing that they don’t have full knowledge of the situation and may be misjudging someone as a result.

I usually ignore people like betsy; today I felt like saying something and I don’t feel bad about it at all. I hope you won’t either as I thought you wrote a great comment in response.

Off to watch The Grinch with the kiddos… thanks for the unintentional reminder to watch this!

      • Josa says:

@MtnRunner. Thank you very much for your kind words, and wish.

      • Miss Jupitero says:

There is no need ever for any smack downs. This isn’t the United Nations. It’s about as frivolous and silly as anything can be– which can be a perfectly nice contrast when you think about it. Nobody is under any obligation to like Hiddles or Cumby or anyone, and opinions are like assh*les; everyone had one.

    • jammypants says:

Betsy never fails to disappoint in her gross disapproval of a model citizen in Hiddles πŸ˜›

      • Anne tommy says:

It was mean Betsy. I’m not a big Bendy fan but the phrase “malformed lizard” was used in a recent post about him and that was OTT too (if memorable, since I remember it). The world is full of people who don’t float my boat but let’s not be too nasty. As for hiddles…never mind all this bless his little heart sentimental stuff, get a load of that first picture…sizzling…

    • **sighs** says:

      Srsly? *shakes head*

    • Oh Hey says:

I think she meant to go to the Benophie thread.

    • ellesbelles says:

      well bye.

    • Lilacflowers says:

Glad to know you are still the same, Betsy.

    • ava says:

OK………..remember guys the only way to win with people like this is “NOT TO PLAY” They love to stir a pot. Remember how your mom told you that if people can’t get attention for being smart, kind, etc, they will get it for being nasty. Sad really….

  17. Josa says:

Loving this video. Loving every image of Rodney and Tom together, they are very much in harmony.

    • Allegra says:

      Yes, they are.
And here another cute pic ,Tom and a cute baby:

    • icerose says:

I just love the way he posts regardless of what he is wearing or which ever way his hair has decided go coupled with the way he has just immersed himself into a lifestyle which is just so different from the one he was brought up on without appearing awkward or out of place. He seems to be brimming with life’s joys in the moment,

      • MtnRunner says:

I noticed that too icerose, especially while working on ISTL. I get the sense that he sheds his poshness better than most and mingles quite comfortably with the hoi polloi.

I look forward to hearing him talk about his time in TN and LA and the impressions he had. I moved to TN in the ’90’s and I fell in love with the people, their stories and their hospitality. I hope he did too.

      • koko says:

He’s adaptable and he does it well. I too am looking forward to his behind the scene “stories” from this shoot. His impressions of “middle” America, how very different from his own world it would seem to be.

      • icerose says:

@MtnRunner He is just so open to people and my guess is he sees the best in them until he is let down and just enjoys the company and the experience,I bet he fell in love with the people in Louisiana as much as they found him delightful.
But I want some behind the scenes tales as well!!

There is something on him in the Evening Standard to day but have not found a good link yet,

      • MtnRunner says:

@icerose, would it be the posts that Allegra posted in #20?

      • icerose says:

@MtnRunner The other thing that I love seeing is how two men one brought up by warring parents in and less than advantages lifestyle bonding with someone who was lucky enough to have the best education and a warm loving environment. They are pivotal opposites who share a love of music, warm personalities and the ability to show joy, respect and love,
I am waxing way to lyrically about this.

      • jammypants says:

His lust for life is infectious.

  18. Allegra says:

Torrilla has has a article from EW about Jessica Chastain in Crimson Peak.
She looks great in that dress but everything around seems quite scary.

  19. Gracie says:

I am jealous of Mono-the-puppy. Does this make me an awful person? πŸ™

P.S.: I am also too hungry to think straight. That’s my excuse and I am sticking to it.

    • Allegra says:

      @Gracie:
No, because I feel the same way. What a lucky dog!
This also happens to me. When I’m hungry, I can not think straight. So get something to eat, try a a fruit .

    • MtnRunner says:

“I am jealous of Mono-the-puppy. Does this make me an awful person?”

You want to sit on Tom’s lap and have him cuddle you? No, I think that sounds like a normal dragonfly to me.

      • Oh Hey says:

LOL,I want to be Eve, sitting in his lap being cuddled, I suppose that makes me vampire with an i-phone…. πŸ™‚

    • icerose says:

Mono reminds me of another dog he loves to cuddle.

  20. lunchcoma says:

Ah, this is adorable. After an evening of Coriolanus, where Tom was lovely and angry and elitist, it’s nice to see the contrast when he’s being happy and himself.

  21. ellesbelles says:

Thanks to Oh Hey sharing an awesome link with me, there’s a 30 minute deleted and extended scenes video file from OLLA on the cloud now!

  22. Ginger says:

    Cute! Cheered me up considerably

  23. Iv says:

Yikes, I hope his movie singing is better than that.

    • icerose says:

I am not worried-they would not have cast him if he they were not happy with his singing and they are just mucking around in this not trying to impress. I do suspect they both might be imbibing Christmas joy as well.

  24. MtnRunner says:

IV, I’m not worried. Sound engineers can make just about anyone sound good:

    http://youtu.be/G2Rhh_4GZmU

    • icerose says:

oh these pictures -he looks so musician and they are my biggest weakness -give me a man playing a sax, piano or guitar and my heart melts.

    • icerose says:

I think he has new cowboy boots and maybe a new guitar?? or Rodney has given him the one he lent him.

  25. Gracie says:

Can’t believe I just typed all that and got eaten by the filter. Where is the holiday spirit? πŸ™ Anyway, dear fellow dragonflies, I am alive and kicking despite the hunger.

@elles, thank you, thank you. Chocolate, wine, spa voucher and an overexcited Tommy duely received. I have the full collection of E. E. Cummings at hand. He can read it to me with my head on his lap, his hand stroking my hair. I am very easy to please.

@allegra, I had a huge lunch without my mum watching yesterday. What she doesn’t know doesn’t hurt, right?

@mtnrunner, oh yes, cuddles for the win! Lets have all the cuddles!

  26. 'P'enny says:

great pics on twitter this morning of Tom arriving at LAX airport today with his cowboy boots on and his guitar in hand. Shades on and his hoodie up. He has a really beefy smile on.

he is one happy boy at the moment.

    • Gracie says:

      Must be heading home?

      • Catherine says:

Except it looks like arrivals (there’s a carousel in the background).

      • Lilacflowers says:

Wrong direction for heading home and he was in the baggage pick-up area with a luggage cart. If he were only switching flights (and Nashville to LAX to London would be one really weird flight plan), he wouldn’t be in the baggage area because they would just transfer his bags from one plane to another.

    • Lindy79 says:

His smile is the first thing you see, even with the clothes. I actually prefer his questionable clothes.

Take notes Benedict, its possible to smile even if the paps are annoying.

      • Oh Hey says:

I went thud – that smile. Adorbs. Nice try on the ‘incognito’ but the smile gives it away.

      • koko says:

Comfy clothes for traveling, but I prefer the jeans out of the boots. He doesn’t look as worn out as he did after CP filming. Wonder if this is last stop before heading home….or could the “islands” be next.

  27. I Choose Me says:

Just when I thought I couldn’t love him anymore. I love his zest for life. And is it just me or it seems like everyone who meets him just can’t help falling under his spell?

  28. ellesbelles says:

Silly Tom arrived at the wrong airport. You were supposed to fly in to RNO so I could swing by, pick you up, skip work and go get a cabin at the lake. Tom, Tom, Tom…. what am I going to do with you?

  29. TotallyBiased says:

Okay, look–some Dragonfly here has GOT to be a ‘media professional’ who can sign in at the link below SO WE CAN SEE THIS!!!!

And isn’t Kaiser the sly quickie boots–she already has a new post w/the Hoodie shots up! Guess that means they’ve been officially released. πŸ˜‰
