So many couples split over the holiday season that I was starting to feel downcast. Some of them have moved on already. Chris Rock ditched his 19-year marriage, and now he’s already partying with a mystery woman on a yacht in St. Barts. I was starting to worry, you know, that love is dead.
Then I heard this news from People: Katy Perry and John Mayer might be back together again. This would be their fourth attempt at a romantic relationship. Sure it won’t last, but it’s great news! I am somewhat entertained by the possibility. These two last broke up in February 2014 after John walked around looking like a caged animal for months. Katy played the ring game but finally had enough after John cheated again. That’s what he does. He couldn’t break up with Katy, and he did something awful to make her dump him. John the coward.
People says these two could be “on” again. There’s a mention of them being “friends,” which sounds sketchy. John doesn’t hang out with girls as friends. There has to be something in it for him. Let’s review People’s take:

Perry, 30, and Mayer, 37, who called it quits last February, were seen together in Beverly Hills over the weekend. It was the first time the former couple had been spotted together publicly since their breakup.
“They’re two very strong-willed people,” a source told PEOPLE at the time. “Despite caring about each other very much and wanting to make it work, they are, at their core, quite different.”
So is their on-and-off relationship back on?
“They actually buried the hatchet a while back, and they are friends,” a Perry source tells PEOPLE, adding that the outing might not necessarily signal a rekindled romance.
“It’s not a surprise they would see each other socially,” the source added. “She’s focused on her career and making herself happy.”
Perry – who most recently has been linked to DJ and producer Diplo – spoke out about her past relationships, and what she’s learned from them, in the October issue of Harper’s Bazaar.
“I had to learn about taking care of myself before I could take care of others,” she said. “I want to mommy everyone. I want to take care of them. I want to save them, and I forget myself in the meantime.”
Reps for Perry and Mayer had no immediate comment.

This reunion dovetails with John’s airbrush extravaganza and news of a possible Giada De Laurentiis connection. Coincidence? Katy can’t help herself. I can commiserate but there comes a time to realize this type of attraction is a like a
drug. I had to quit cold turkey and feel the “absence” of this type of exciting romance.

Do John or Katy have some project to promote? What better way to draw attention to a project than to have them “date” Also the timing is suspect considering Giada just announced her separation from her husband.

He lost his appeal when he trashed Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson, and a poster here mentioned him being on a reddit thread so of course I looked it up and got lost in there for hours, but the posts on John were horrifying and exactly the type of douche I pictured him to be. Gross, Katy seems like a nice enough girl, but she must love the drama because I’m sure he’s full of it.

Obviously this is purely my own speculation, but I was always under the impression that Katy was super in love with John Mayer, and I felt that because she seemed very much “herself” with him. Even with Russell Brandt, she would walk around in her costume-like get ups, but with John Mayer she acted so much more like a “normal” girl which deep down I think she is. To me, Katy seems like she is a grown woman still trying way too hard to rebel against her religious parents, but I bet deep down she really just wants to be a “normal” girl and it always seemed to me like he brought that out in her. I’m not surprised at all if their reconciliation is in fact true.
