Jessica Chastain won the Critics Choice MVP award last night for her roles in four movies (including A Most Violent Year, The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, and Interstellar). Sadly, she’ll probably never be a fashion MVP. Her Globes Versace fared well, but Jessica reverted to blah in this Antonio Berardi dress. I’m not crazy about the weird asymmetcial cutout on one colorbone — losing that faux-sleeve cap may have helped. Yes, lose the sleeve cap, go with a darker lipstick, and let that hair flow.
Jessica gave her speech in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday: “It got me thinking about our need to build the strength of diversity in our industry and to stand together against homophobic, sexiest, misogynistic, anti-Semitic, and racist agendas. I can’t help but feeling hopeful about the future of film, especially looking at all these beautiful people in this room.” A nice speech, and she didn’t make it all about herself. She’s a rarity.
Mackenzie Foy looked fantastic. Remember her? She was Edward and Bella’s daughter in Breaking Dawn. Her dress was very cool even though it looked like a Rorschach test. She’s only 14, and straight-up black would have been too mature. She’s so pretty.
Leslie Mann was lookin’ like a sparkly lampshade in a Reem Acra dress with several sheer panels. I like it? Surprisingly, yes. The dress lent the illusion of underboob, but it was a fake out. Leslie’s shoes and clutch add fun and funky touches.
Quvenzhane Wallis wore a royal blue Giorgio Armani sheath. Very sophisticated and age appropriate. She left the pink poodle purse at home! #sad
Michelle Monaghan has been going for the informal vibe for most of the awards season. She changed up her routine with some Morticia Addams realness in this Elie Saab gown. This dress would have looked cool with spaghetti straps and without the doily action at the top.
Rosario Dawson wore a Vivienne Westwood that brought surprisingly little Westwood flaire to the event. A brighter color could have made this dress pop.

Can we stand against Islamophobic agendas too, please? Chastain’s dress reminds me of a cheongsam but i’d have to say that Quvenzhane is best-dressed here.
Yes please! Totally agree on both points 🙂
YES. AND YES!! Actually Jessica Is Not Super Offending me heer and also Extra Points for the hair
#NoPuppyPurse 🙁
I don’t undrestand why Leslie Mann (Oh My That Face since the Movie with the cheating Spouse) dresses always So “Prom”like or age Inappropriate..Like..I don’t get it
I love Leslie Mann’s shoes. The dress is nice but it washes her out.
I love everyone’s looks, except to Jessica chastain. She’s such a beautiful woman. The weird hair and dress just detract from her natural beauty. Also, her lipstick color isn’t my favorite.
I think Michelle’s dress is my favorite.
ITA. Jessica Chastain is beautiful, but the hair is way too pulled back. I also feel like the dress makes her boxy?
Something! I can’t figure out what it is that I hate about the dress!
Hated the hair and the make up. I usually like what Jessica wears but this whole look was a no-no.
I kind of love Jessica’s hair here, and I don’t mind the dress at all. I usually don’t even notice fashion stuff unless it’s amazing or hideous, but this I liked.
Quvenzhane Wallis looks best, beautiful color.
I thought Jessica looked good. It totally pales in comparison to her AMAZING GG gown, but this is not bad either. What I liked a lot more was her great speech.
Jessica Chastain–
It’s that LIPSTICK. Her look would’ve been SO NICE (it looks like she was going for an Asian slant to her dress with those sleeves) if it hadn’t been for that lipstick. Who thought that looked good?
Something about her saying that in her speech is kind of bothering me, but I can’t really pinpoint it. Maybe it’s the fact that the public will pat her on the back for saying it while she will continue to get major work and accolades with no problem and Hollywood will stay the same.
Or maybe I’m nitpicking.
Perhaps the problem isn’t her it’s us.
Instead of patting her on the back people should add their voices too.
Talking about =/= taking action. People have been calling out Hollywood on this stuff for years and nothing has changed.
“Sadly, she’ll probably never be a fashion MVP.” Bedhead, I just spit out my morning coffee in a full on giggle fest. Poor Jess. I had a lot of hope for her after the Globes but this is just….sad. Side note: Dawson is so gorgeous. Does she ever even age?
I would have liked Jessica’s dress more without the cutout. The hair looks weird from the front but interesting in the back. And I’m not a fan of her makeup. I’m not sure if it’s the color of the dress or her make up but she looks tired to me. I’m sure awards season must be tiring if you’re attending so many events.
Jessica’s speech was badass.
I love JC’s dress but hell no on that Sister Wives hair.
The kids were better dressed than the grown-ups.
Is that Jessica or Kate Hudson?
The cut out ruins the dress for me. Q looks great!
Lord, I love Jessica’s dress and she looks amazing in it.
I love this dress as well. I hate her hair & makeup though.
Mackenzie Foy is such a beautiful young lady!!! She was very good in Interstellar! I love Rosario’s dress, probably would have preferred it in a different color, but still good! Jessica….Dear God…what bad taste she has!!! Quvenzhane Wallis looks adorable!!! Does Leslie Mann ever age??? Michelle looked okay!!!
I really like Interstellar, and thought everyone in it was fantastic! Am I the only one? It hasn’t got any love from any of the award shows….very surprised! Thought it was A MILLION TIMES BETTER than Gravity!!!
I’m so-so on JCs gown but I actually really like her hair pulled back. It’s a different look for her and she has beautiful eyes and bone structure.
I don’t like Jessica’s dress, in fact i don’t like any of the dresses here (except the girls’ dresses, they are cuties and out of competition). I think the best is Rosario’s but i am not crazy about it. I don’t know, celebrities have access to all these stylists and designers and still manage to wear terrible outfits for their events. If i had their money and their connections i would wear nicer dresses than these.
A nice thing: i like Jessica’s hair from the back.
I like Jessica’ s dress; it’s a departure from the usual goddess or prom gowns. So, I’m liking it. What I don’t care for is the hair–it makes her look a little severe. It’s nice from the back.
Her speech was awesome. I follow her on Twitter and this has been her cause for such a long time now. She puts her money where her mouth is–she is the one who suggested Oscar Isaac–a Latino–for A Most Violent Year and she also helped get Viola Davis into Eleanor Rigby. She’s not just lip service–she actually tries to change things, even though she’s a small-time actor with not much clout in Hollywood. She even challenged Russell Crow on his lame anti-female actresses comments. That’s one of the reasons I like her so much. She’s a real badass.
Jessica’s dress was OK to me- I liked the cut, and she can wear that white well. She has such a lovely face!
The two young ladies are way cute.
Very tired of black lace overlays.
Chastain didn’t really have the poise to pull off that speech. She “had to google MVP”? Dear God. If Hathaway had said that you’d all be crowing about how fake she is. Plus, if she’d received that expected Oscar nom that morning I’m sure her speech would’ve been COMPLETELY different. The WTF faces on everyone during her speech were hilarious, though.
