I was only slightly disappointed that Benedict Cumberbatch didn’t come to the Critics Choice Awards last Thursday. Bendy is good for business and with Sophie Hunter attached to his hip, those photos are always going to be some of the most-discussed of any event. But, as I keep saying, Bendy has been needing to take a break from the campaigning, so it was refreshing to see him NOT walk a red carpet. It helps that he’s currently working too, and I imagine that the schedule is somewhat grueling – they seem to film those Sherlock episodes at a very quick pace (once they get around to filming them).
Anyway, Bendy will be at the SAG Awards this Sunday night. He’s nominated for Best Actor, and E! News has just announced that Bendy will present as well. I would imagine that Sophie will be on his arm for red carpet, although there’s probably a chance she will stay in London because she needs to work on their wedding plans – allegedly, they’re getting married ahead of the Oscars. What are the chances that she picks out another floral dress? Other presenters for the SAGs: Eddie Redmayne, J.K. Simmons, Viola Davis, Laverne Cox, Bryan Cranston, Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, Lenny Kravitz and Eric Dane. Weird list.
Meanwhile, Bendy’s TIG costar Allen Leech (I love him on Downton Abbey!) had some words to say about the Cumberbaby:
It’s not like we have any doubt Benedict Cumberbatch is going to be an awesome dad. But it’s nice to know his friends think so, too.
“If he puts the same amount of dedication and love into raising his child as he does into his work, he is going to be the greatest dad of all time,” Cumberbatch’s The Imitation Game co-star Allen Leech recently told me.
Leech said he and Cumberbatch celebrated his impending fatherhood shortly after the news broke.
“I saw him and we had a little celebration,” he said. “I think we celebrated with a margarita…I don’t know why we had margaritas. I suppose we sampled everything else on the menu.”
Salt or no salt?
“Salt,” Leech said. “The whole thing was covered in salt.”
Yes, Bendy has been drinking a lot lately. I think that’s less about his angst over how quickly his life has changed and more about how he’s trying to quit smoking. When you quit smoking, you’ll take anything to get your mind off of it. Booze, sex, babies, food. ANYTHING!

Quit Booze and smoking, Bendy. Cumberbaby needs a clean smelling and sober daddy. Sophie’s baby bump will be bigger and bigger from now on, don’t think she can fly often.
Exactly long haul is tough on most people I don’t care if it’s first class to do a short trip week in week out is tiring but being really pregnant after 7 months she will need a Drs note.

How would boozing help someone quit smoking? I have several friends who quit and they basically had to stop drinking to do it. The only time they cave and have a cig these days is when they’re drinking. Drinking and smoking go hand in hand.

I distinctly remember an episode of How I Met Your Mother where Lily is quizzing Marshall on a bunch of stuff, and she’s like, “And what do we say about smoking?” And Marshall is like, “Only when we’re drunk!” And she’s like, attaboy!
That’s what I hated about smoking during uni. You are always pressured to smoke more when you’re at parties. It’s like “Hey we’re going outside” and you want to be included lol
I gave up smoking and don’t drink very much. Unfortunately I can’t stop eating rubbish…
I only smoke when I drink, so….uh good luck I guess.
