Jennifer Aniston, the #1 Snubbed, is going to present at this year’s Oscars

wenn22131988

I figured this would happen. I actually think this was the point of Jennifer Aniston’s “#1 Snubbed Media Tour” a few weeks ago. Of course she wanted to get nominated for an Oscar, but failing that, she wanted to be known as the #1 Snubbed this year so Oscar producers would feel like they had to “make it up” to her by inviting her to present at this year’s Oscars. Meanwhile, the real #1 Snubbed, David Oyelowo, was also asked to present, so I’m not mad about that at least.

No hard feelings, Jen? When the Oscar nominations were announced last month, there was one name noticeably missing from the Best Actress category. After her critically acclaimed performance in Cake, Jennifer Aniston was considered a frontrunner to be nominated.

The Friends alum, 45, however, was unable to score the coveted honor, and many considered it to be one of the biggest snubs of this season. On Tuesday, Feb. 10, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Scienes announced that Aniston would still have a part in the show — as a presenter.

Other presenters include Selma’s David Oyelowo, who was also snubbed for his role as Martin Luther King, Jr., making this year’s acting nominees the whitest group in 20 years.

Other presenters include Sienna Miller, Chris Pratt, Chris Rock, Kerry Washington, and John Travolta. At last year’s show, Travolta made headlines and created countless memes when he accidentally introduced Frozen songstress Idina Menzel as “Adele Dazeem.” Fingers crossed he has to pronounce the name “Benedict Cumberbatch” this time.

[From Us Weekly]

I can’t believe they asked Travolta again after the Adele Dazeem disaster. Maybe they’re actually hoping for another Travolta mishap because that was one of the most-talked about moments last year. Anyway, I’m not super-jazzed about this presenters list so far. I’m excited that all of last year’s winners are coming back, of course, because I’m dying for some Cate Blanchett and I always love some Lupita. Benedict Cumberbatch is going to present too. But I still feel like they need some bigger names other than… Sienna Miller and Chris Pratt, you know? And how about some fun people too? How about Viola Davis? Or Catherine Deneuve? Or Charlize Theron & Sean Penn? Or Bill Murray? Or Angelina Jolie? Hell, I would be happy to see Gwyneth Paltrow as a presenter too.

Do you think that because Aniston is going to present, that means Brangelina won’t be asked to attend or present? Brad is one of the producers on Selma, you know. He would have legitimate reason to be there. And Angelina’s Unbroken got some technical nominations.

It’s it not possible that Brad and Angelina were already asked to present and declined?

    • lisa2 says:

LOL.. I know.. like if they ask JA that means they won’t ask B/A.

I doubt the JPs were planning on attending. They were there last year. It is highly unlikely that Selma is going to win. Brad didn’t do the heavy lifting on that film. It was Dede and Jeremy.. so I think they will be there since they did the majority of the promotion. And of course Oprah who made sure she was the Producing face of the film.
Looking at the Presenters list there are not many what you call BIG STAR names. I think they are having a hard time getting the really big names to attend the show. Last years show was a lot of fun to me. I don’t care much about the show this year.

      • Amcn says:

It’s pretty funny to assume Aniston was asked ahead of b&a. I don’t think she will be the ratings boost they need. And considering both of them were involved with movies that are actually nominated, it’s a pretty good bet they were asked first and declined. But that is just conjecture. More conjecture would be JA’s PR has been driving the Oscar producers crazy.

      • jen2 says:

Agree. There is no real reason for them to be there. They don’t have individual nominations and that is usually when they attend. Brad has had movies he was in nominated (Babel, Basterds, etc.), but he did not attend as he was not nominated. They are not one of those show up to show up couples. Brad is Executive Producer, so he would not even get an Award.

I bet Clooney might be asked to do Best Picture and that would get them their name and their couple. Last year had folks with tons of name recognition, but the films and actors nominated this year are probably great, but have very little name recognition in the US, so they are trying to pump it up with presenters, but that won’t necessarily help this telecast.

      • The Original G says:

Doesn’t last year’s Best Picture winner, present this year’s? I think that’s the usual protocol. I don’t get where George fits in there at all?

      • jen2 says:

@Original G, last year it was Will Smith. Nothing to do with who got the Award the year before, just a big name.

      • Bugglez says:

This. Yeah maybe she’ll do for the Oscars what she did for the Globes (worst ratings in 10 years) this kind of stuff is what I mean when I say no one holds Aniston accountable ans they drop the bar down to sea floor level for her. If anyone thinks her Oscar strategist and PR flack didn’t ensure a slot for her to present by any means necessary they’re naive to her stunts and the way she and her PR operates.

It’s pathetic that a classic case of desperado tactics and stunt playing and purchasing your own movie, screening it twice and watching the horrid reviews slowly trickle in, then the inevitable b.o. flop…gets her any kind of seat at the precedings. Let’s not pretend she hasn’t tried this trick before – as it stands she’s second only to jessica alba for presenting yet again at a show she’s never been nominated at. Embarrassing as usual.

      • perplexed says:

I don’t think Aniston has anything to do with the low ratings for the Globes. I don’t think Tina Fey or Amy Poehler are responsible either but since they’re the hosts I would be more likely to hold them accountable (although, as I said, I don’t think that’s the reason either. People are probably just bored with awards shows because there are too many of them on tv nowadays and way more options in terms of what kind of entertainment to choose from on a Sunday evening – internet, cable, netflix, etc).

      • Bridget says:

The ratings of awards show temds to be connected to the success of the movies that are being honored. It has nothing to do with Jennifer Aniston, more like the fact that the front runner movies are Birdman and Boyhood, both of which are niche, indie movies. That’s why they increased the Best Picture field to up to 10 movies, with the hopes that some more popular fare will be on the list and will draw more eyes to the telecast.

    • Brodie says:

Of course they won’t go!! They’ll be off pouting somewhere for the snub!!! AJ will try to upset the Oscars by making yet another fake charity trip or trying to buy yet another baby.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

        Lol.

I hope Angie and Brad go.

      • Amcn says:

Actually the only thing fake is Aniston’s snubbed status. Her acting just sucks. The only reason she is so desperate to present is she needs the work!! Please somebody send her a script! A romcom, a toilet cleaner commercial anything. Baby/wedding rumours aren’t paying the bills. And the finance likes nice things after all ;). But don’t worry, Jen will be just fine!

      • doofus says:

all I got out of that was #fakebaby

      • Bridget says:

@doofus: maybe a charity trip for the fake babies?

      • JohnWayneLives says:

@ Bodie man, who $h!t in your cheerios

      • Tarsha_ says:

Um, Angelina wasn’t snubbed. Aniston was. And yeah, because the UN and the Council of Foreign Relations are ‘fake’. They have only adopted 3 children, most adopt more than that, and last time they adopted a baby was around 6 years ago. But its so nice that you think people who have been adopted like my cousin are ‘bought’. Such lovely people, Angelina haters. So full of irrational hatred.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

Brad and Angelina are probably first on the list to be asked, every year.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I really don’t think the Oscar committee looks at JA and BP & AJ and sees it as an either/or decision. More like “all of the above” to draw as many viewers as possible.

  2. MP says:

I wish I could present at the Oscars just so that I could get the gift bag. I’ve heard it’s insane.

  3. Sullivan says:

    More orange cleavage!

  4. Bridget says:

I think the snubbed tour was because she’d already booked those appearances but couldn’t back out without it looking works. That Hollywood Reporter cover and story would have been arranged well beforehand. Her team had her committed for a huge press push after the nominations. By following through she actually looks like a good sport, though the #1 snubbed just came from a throwaway remark.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

      True dat!
She and Huvane totally thought she had Oscar nom in the bag and booked her on these tours, mags,tv shows before she got the news she wasn’t nominated. She had to go through with the tour or else look like a sore loser.

Also Huvane wants her in front of the Academy in Oscar night. She’s going to start working the Oscar crowd, Academy for a few years, to get in good with them.

      • Bridget says:

They weren’t the only ones that thought she had it in the bag, pretty much all the prognosticators thought she was going to be on the list. You have to give her “Oscar Whisperer” credit, it really was a great campaign. It just turned out that she wasn’t actually that good in a movie that wasn’t very good.

      • GoOnGirl says:

It might actually help if her acting improved in order to get in good with them. I still don’t know how she planned on getting nominated when most people didn’t see the film, and those that did raved about the woman playing her maid.

      • Bridget says:

@goongirl: they were actually pretty smart about that. They hosted screenings for Academy members (including in the apparently all-important Palm Springs) and they embargoed reviews on the movie until after the nominations. So the right people saw it, but didnt like it that much. Supposedly Aniston was good as was the maid, but the movie itself was terrible.

  5. Tarsha says:

It will be another drunken appearance by her no doubt.

    • annaloo. says:

LORD, please let that happen. And let it be sloppy and messy. I would so love it. Hollywood needs that. Vanilla Aniston showing up drunk to present… the stuff of dreams of the minivan majority, cementing JA as the ultimate victim- dumped, snubbed, etc – and they would understand the whys and whats of her pain that led her to be so sloshed on that stage…and then Jennifer will be immortalized

      PASS THE POPCORN

    • Someonestolemyname says:

She’ll be on good behaviour. This is Huvane and Anniston getting her around the Academy members. She’s going to try to show them she’s serious and befriend any Academy members she can, so next time she has a film to push for Oscar ,she may have some Academy friends in her corner.

  6. scout says:

I am sure Brange will be there. If Jen walks up to AJ and shakes her hand or hugs her, I will love Jen and her JT forever! Promise!! 😀

Travolta either needs to wear glasses to read the prompts or he is Dyslexic. Either way it would be fun to have him presenting, he is a good guy, like him.

  7. Lucy2 says:

I too am surprised they asked Travolta back after that mess.

    • TheOnlyDee says:

He presented the big 2000s musicals musical number the year before, too. I think they are just hoping for another Adele Dazeem moment tbh.

    • Jayna says:

Idina Menzel said on a show once it ended up being a great thing that it happened to her, because she got so much publicity from it.

      Here in a magazine interview.

“How did Travolta, 60 — who gave a public apology — privately make up for the excruciating flub? “He was really gracious and sent this gorgeous email, and we’re buddies and it’s all cool,” Menzel explains, adding that he also sent flowers.

“Please. I mean, I’ve only benefited from it!” Menzel adds.”

      • Lol, they’ll probably invite him back every year, as long as he promises to flub someone’s name again THAT badly. He gave them a ton of free press.

And you’d think that for the sake of $$$, that the Oscars would diversify a bit. My mom NEVER pays any attention to any gossip-y stuff, the Oscars, awards shows, NONE of it……but she went through and looked at all of the Oscar stuff as soon as she found out that Lupita won.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

John’s been nominated for an Academy award I think, way back in the day…wasn’t he??? Can’t remember… What for. Anyone know?
      ….they probably like him.
He’s a talented guy, even though he flubbed the lines, I found it funny, but also endearing.

  8. Cici says:

Interesting that David Oyelowo is presenting considering he’s complained about the Oscars several times after not getting nominated. Quite hypocritical I would think.

    • Janet says:

In that case you should also think it’s hypocritical of Aniston to be presenting after whining all over the media about being the “number one snub”.

    • funcakes says:

Its Hollywood. They constantly contradict themselves. Plus they prefer to not piss people off.

    • FingerBinger says:

It’s not hypocritical. People get snubbed all the time for Oscars and still attend the show and present. I wouldn’t be surprised if Selma’s director showed up at the Oscars.

  9. INeedANap says:

I love those first two paragraphs from the excerpt. Someone at Us Weekly definitely drank the Kool-Aid, because no one else besides Aniston thinks she was actually robbed.

    • Josephine says:

I’m sick of that story-line, too. The reviews were quite mixed and her hard core push (which I am not blaming her for) did not result in butts in seats; there was no snubbing here. I think it was especially telling that not a single co-star went to bat for her, and that movie included some people with real acting credibility.

      • Janet says:

The film was marketed and presented from the very beginning as HER movie. HER picture and hers only was on the movie posters. HER name alone was in 36-point type while everybody else was in small print. So now that the movie has bombed at the box office and has already been pulled from 407 of the 482 theaters it opened in, she should have the grace to accept it as HER flop.

      • Livealot says:

You just made me want to look up the cast AND watch the trailer for the first time and you’re right… It’s like they knew it was JA’s passion project and bowed out gracefully.

      • Janet says:

Or were simply shut out, in which case it’s not surprising that none of them lifted a finger to help promote the movie.

      • TheOnlyDee says:

Anna Kendrick, Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy did not need to be in that mess. They had plenty going, and didn’t need to put any time in promoting the “Aniston needs to be taken seriously show.” Cake is definitely her flop.

    • jen2 says:

I can see the headlines in a few years. “Jen, fit, fun, fabulous at 50: 5 Years after the Snub”. It is just silly how much traction this has gotten. She and the others were not “snubbed”, they just didn’t get nominated. Happens every year.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

US Weekly basically fan girls some stars, I think their editor or writers are on speedial ,for lunch with some of the stars.

  10. Catelina says:

Hopefully there won’t be any awkward jokes about how snubbed she was. Especially with people there who actually were snubbed.

  11. Jegede says:

    Catherine Denevue would be wonderful!

  12. minx says:

    Oh, brother.

  13. Kate says:

Hard to break it to Jen but Amy Adams was the one snubbed in the best actress race. Not her.

    • paola says:

I honestly don’t think Amy Adams’ performance was Oscar worthy. And I honestly think Julianne Moore had many more other roles were she was Oscar worty.. much more than in Still Alice. I think she is gorgeous but I didn’t love her in that film.

      • lisa2 says:

I think that was the whole thing this year. There were good performances; but nothing outstanding (for some of the nominees)

      • Josephine says:

Several movie reviewers said that the women’s best actor category was weak this year compared to other years, which makes sense given that the % of female protagonists in films has only decreased. So I think that there were not many choices, and I honestly think that is the only reason that JA’s name was ever mentioned.

      • TC says:

I don’t believe the “weak year for female performances” line. They love to spoon-feed that BS every 5 years or so. Critics/reviewers and bloggers are just plain lazy. As a cinephile, I can tell you there were SEVERAL strong female performances in 2014. I can think of six right off the bat, not including the five who did receive Oscar noms: Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Belle), Scarlett Johansson (Under the Skin), Tilda Swinton (Only Lovers Left Alive), Emmanuelle Seigner (Venus in Fur), Vanessa Paradis (Fading Gigolo) and Essie Davis (The Babadook).

The difference is the majority of films which showcase these performances are not first-run, wide-release films. They are smaller, limited release, indie films and most studios cannot afford to mount Oscar campaigns for these women since a campaign can cost a studio $20M easily.

As an example, Julianne Moore received major Oscar buzz out of TIFF last year, not just for Still Alice, but for Maps to the Stars. But the studio who produced Maps to the Stars said right out the gate that they would not mounting an Oscar campaign for Moore because they couldn’t afford it.

So the performances are out there. It’s just the laziness of critics and bloggers who do a lousy job of building awareness around these performances with the average movie-going public.

    • kennedy says:

I love Amy Adams and will defend her to my death but Big Eyes was a colossal disaster. Her performance was not bad but the film was uneven in tone and it was as if she was acting in another movie. Amy Adams SHOULD have won for Junebug. Or even The Master. But Big Eyes – no.

I agree about Julianne Moore. Still Alice is a mess and her performance is good but not Moore-greatness. This is a year after Blanchett in Blue Jasmine – a win that I see as one of the most deserved in recent history for a performance that is a tour de force in every which way. I want Moore to win for an equally amazing performance/role. Of all the BA nominees, the best performance was easily Rosamund Pike.

The #1 snubbed is Ava Duvarney for director and Jake G for Best Actor. Aniston isn’t even in the top 25 snubbed.

      • TheOnlyDee says:

Still Alice reminded me of a made for TV movie. I really enjoyed all of Lisa Genova’s novels, but I think they are better suited for the small screen on Lifetime or Hallmark channel.

  14. I Choose Me says:

Don’t have an opinion on this except I like that belt in the header photo.

  15. Rex says:

I’m embarrassed for her. After all the Oscarwhoring and now she goes to present?

    • Tarsha says:

      Agreed. She lacks dignity.

    • The Original G says:

???? Why shouldn’t she present? She has before and she also sits on some Academy committee.

      • perplexed says:

Hasn’t Miley Cyrus presented a couple of times? If she can, I don’t see why anyone else couldn’t.

      • Tiffany :) says:

I agree, presenting isn’t an embarrassment. Getting to go to the Oscars at all is a privilege. There are plenty of actors in film that don’t even get the option to go.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

She may be on a high level SAG committee,… I don’t think she’s a member of the Academy for the OSCARS.

  16. paola says:

I’m sure the Kodak Theatre is big enough for the 3 of them to co-exist. Geez when will people let go of this stupid triangle? I broke up with my bf 10 years ago because he cheated on me with one of my friends. Saw them the other day and they stopped to say hi. Honestly i wasn’t jelous, envious or upset. I didn’t care at all. Plus he’s balding and is beefy with a beer belly now so she has my blessing for not being as shallow as I thought she was.
The world IS a big enough place for everybody.

    • Ravensdaughter says:

I think that the parties involved are past the blood feud and it only lives in the tabs. The Dorothy Chandler pavilion-is it now the KODAK theater with the name changed or is this a new venue?- is big enough for Jen, Angelina, and Brad. Note that unlike poor Jen, Angelina and Brad’s efforts WERE nominated!
Selma-good God, why would Brad miss the opportunity to stand in unison with his colleagues to commemorate an extremely important (and shameful) part of our history that needs to be told, especially now. (See Prince’s comments at the Grammys).
BTW, Good for you, Paola. Life is too short to clutter up your mind with things that prevent you from moving forward and reaching the place where YOU want to be!

      • Tiffany :) says:

The Kodak theater is the old name of the current Oscar venue. It was renamed the Dolby Theater when Kodak went bankrupt. The 2015 Oscars will be at the Dolby.

The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion is a part of the Music Center, and unrelated to modern Oscar ceremonies (haven’t been there since 1999).

      • Someonestolemyname says:

I love the Kodak Theatre but traffic around it is a b”tch.

  17. neer says:

That’s the difference between Aniston & AJBP.
Aniston is always craving for attention while AJBP do not. The Jolie-Pitts do not need attention coz wherever they go, the public is crazy about them.

Aniston do not know when & where to put herself properly. As long as people will focus on her…that she wants to make it appear that she is a good sport that she agreed to present despite the self-proclaimed “#1 snubbed”… regardless if takes attention to those who really deserve it, the nominees & winners.

She’s really a pathetic person. You could really see she has an agenda. This was her plan all along, that’s why she had the “#1 snubbed media tour”. She wants the media to talk about her.

  18. neer says:

I had a feeling that the Academy this year would have a low rating in terms of TV audience.

    • lisa2 says:

I will watch some of the RC stuff but have no desire to watch the show. I’ll see the winners online.

I think one of the reasons people use to watch was to see the STARS in attendance. OR to see what couples will be there together. I remember a number of years ago the Oscars had “Couples” presenters. It was interesting. I said at the beginning that there are some great films and performances but I just don’t have a desire to see the show to see any of the people there. Besides the surprise factor is pretty moot at this point. Too many Awards shows before the Oscars.

  19. truthSF says:

Truthfully, she was the #1 snubbed..with no one seeing her movie in theaters!!

p.s. David O. looks damn good in that picture.

  20. Sass back says:

Why wouldn’t they invite them just because Aniston is presenting? That’s so ridiculous. Like the thought wouldn’t have even entered my mind had I not seen it written in this post. I bet if they don’t go, there’s going to be a ridiculous post about how “…maybe they declined because Aniston was presenting but it’s doubtful because why would AJ even care about it at all because she’s so above it and Jennifer Aniston is always looking for attention and playing the pity card so she must have used one of her three genie wishes that the Jolie-Pitts stayed home and voilá, it worked, she is sooooo bitterrrrr but I bet they just stayed home because they’re so talented they don’t need the Oscars but Aniston is so desperate Blah blah…” That woman can’t win.

  21. Lilacflowers says:

Angie and Brad are both AMPAS members. Aniston is not. They’re invited whether she is or isn’t.

    • Rex says:

She is, even JLo, Gerard Butler etc. A lot of “actors” were invited to join in 2007.

    • Tarsha says:

Sorry but I think you’ve got your wires crossed, its the other way around. Its long been known that Aniston is a voting member of the academy. And I’ve read numerous times from others including Angelina fans that neither Angelina or Brad are members.

      • lisa2 says:

Brad and Angie are both Voting members.. they were asked who they were voting for when they were both nominated.. each said they were voting for the other.

not sure where that miss information came from; but is it WRONG

      • The Original G says:

I’m pretty sure winners become voting members.

    • Kim1 says:

As Oscar winners Brad and Angie don’t have to be invited to attend.I doubt that they will attend because they were not nominated.

    • Lilacflowers says:

An actor or actress only becomes a voting member if nominated for an Oscar or by special invitation. Special invitations aren’t all that common. Both Brad and Angelina have been nominated for acting Oscars, making them voting members. Whether they choose to actually vote is another issue. Aniston has never been nominated so the only way she could have become a voting member would be by invitation.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

I don’t believe Anniston is a member of the Academy if she were she would not have been behaving so desperately.

I think people may be confusing her high level SAG membership, she is probably on some high committees in SAG, but I can’t see how she’s an Academy member for the OSCARS.

      • lisa2 says:

Aniston is a Voting member. She was invited. So is Jennifer Lopez..

the AMPAS is trying to get a variety of people involved; so they have branched out and invited people that are popular and not necessarily talented regarding films.

    • Elly says:

sorry, but Aniston is an AMPAS member. She was invited in 2007.

  22. Nev says:

    Go Jen!!!

I actually think I will only watch the red carpet stuff this year.

    • Janet says:

That’s all I ever watch. I love to see who’s wearing what. I certainly don’t want to have to see Aniston stumbling and mumbling through her presentation like she usually does.

  23. Kitkat says:

Why is it that just because she made ONE movie out of the norm she automatically deserves a nomination? There are SO many actors/actresses that are more deserving who have been in great films that are not nominated. I’m tired of reading how she was “snubbed”. How arrogant.

    • beep says:

The media babies her. Maybe because she has a good Pr guy with lots of other clients that he can use to get his way? I’m not sure. It is odd tho.

      • KatyD says:

@Beep. I totally agree that the media babies her to the point of exhaustion. I also agree it must be her PR which is to blame. British Vogue made the point that they won’t work with her because her PR is that demanding. She must be a special case of media control and manipulation for them to publicly admit that.

    • Lady D says:

      Bubble within a bubble.

    • Lilacflowers says:

      But she went without make-up!!!!

    • Someonestolemyname says:

I think Jenn believed her own hype, that she’s adored and everyone feels sorry for her and she’s a great actress.

I actually think Lisa Kudrow is a much better actress than Jennifer Anniston.

      • lisa2 says:

I think she was SHOCKED she didn’t get the nomination. SHOCKED. I think it would have been nice if she had included the other actor in her Oscar pursuit. Or at least acknowledged them.

  24. TeresaMaria says:

Why do you “torture” us with that ugly brown-maroon jacket picture?

  25. SpookySpooks says:

I just hope NPH does a better job than Ellen because she was horrible. One of the worst hosts in recent years.

    • lisa2 says:

I enjoyed Ellen at the Oscars myself.. lot of fun and memorable moments. NPH is better for the Tony’s. Not sure who thought he would be a good idea.

  26. jamrock says:

I am confuse where is her shame tree..I mean you got snubbed big time after that big push for a nomination and then you’d go up as a presenter to give out the award you were coveting. .

This is the long game now for her, Huvane wants her befriending a academy members, being in their presence when she can get access so next time round, they vote for her for a nomination.

Think Anne Hathaway….even though she’s more talented,,than Jeen IMO… she played the game, stayed in their faces, hosted even one year and eventually got a nomination and won. I think she’s talented though. So not taking anything away from her, …her gamelan worked.

I really don’t think Jenn Anniston is very talented. She always plays Rachell.

I just binge-watched friends Which was on literally for my entire 20s. I’m surprised to find I still have a nostalgic fondness for her.

  28. Micki says:

Won’t it be a moment if Unbroken wins in whatever technical category and she has to present?

  29. GoOnGirl says:

After she presents at the Oscar, can she just please go away?

  30. Katie says:

    Snubbed? Rofl!!!

  31. karen says:

Oooh, anyone have an id on that coat David Oyelowo is wearing??? it’s gorgeous!

  32. Sara says:

Aniston presented at the Oscars in 2009 with Brad and Angelina there so wouldn’t have been the first time.

    • Bugglez says:

Aniston presented in 2009 with Brad and Angelina “there,” yes – and by “there,” I’m sure you meant to say they were nominated for Best Actress and Best Actor…while she stalked them dragging John mayer who would dump her the next day as her ‘escort.’ Pathetic and creepy.

      • funcakes says:

I remember that. Jennifer dumbed him, got back together with him so she would have an escort to not look sad because Brangie was going and then dumped him soon after. Memories.

      • Janet says:

You got it backwards, funcakes. Aniston didn’t dump Mayer, Mayer dumped her. Twice.

  33. nospinzone says:

If Jennifer’s performance in Cake was truly worthy of an Oscar nomination, then she was
indeed snubbed. Being snubbed means that Jennifer has lost many former supporters
among the Hollywood community. Cake earned less than two million at the box office,
so Jennifer and her movie were both snubbed by the general public. Her fan base is but
a shell of what it once was and it continues to shrink.

R.I.P. Jennifer Aniston FORMER America’s Sweetheart.

  34. Ravensdaughter says:

What the hell is that burgundy-ish thing that Jen is wearing? At first I thought it was a onesie, but it’s actually a suit (with an unusually droopy jacket) less a tasteful top and proper undergarments. Also, I just don’t understand the color. More appropriate on a ottoman than on an attractive woman.
    /////////////////////////////////////////
Come closer now, Jen. I just turned 50 so I have some experience here. I think it’s time to put the girls away. You still can pull this off in a bikini at Cabo (lots of elastic and support), but not at public events.
Here’s the thing. You hit your (mid) 40’s and it can’t be helped, no matter how much you work out. There is always some sag involved without the proper undergarments (a bra is a great wardrobe basic). Be thankful you have another major issue of middle age solved-your abs are nice and tight, girl. No belly bulge at all.
Just a tip-when you go to the Oscars, take the high road and wear something tasteful and elegant. Shiny is okay, too. You can pull that off….

  35. daughter of jean says:

I think the snub remark was meant as a joke. Cake was never meant to be an Oscar contender. She funded it because people appreciated her acting in the film and she would like to be considered as something other than a comedic actress and take on more serious roles. What’s wrong with trying something different?

    • jen2 says:

Trying something new is good. However, for her, this was clearly supposed to be her ticket to Oscar or she would not have financed it herself and gotten a limited release for Oscar consideration last year as well as mounting a major campaign (also her right) almost without acknowledging that other people were actually in it.

If she only wanted to show it as something new, they would have just released it this year or at least waited for an actual distributor to buy it. She has every right to do what she does, but to say it was not meant to be for an Oscar is not accurate.

      • daughter of jean says:

jen2, I completely disagree. If you read anything she said about it or saw any interview it was obvious she was surprised by the buzz. Sure she went for it but I dont think she expected an Oscar or a nomination. It’s recognition that she can do something different. And good for her because she did get some nominations she wouldn’t have otherwise. Perhaps the other actors respected that that was her goal and allowed her to shine. The movie itself may not be that great but she got lots of positive responses that may lead to the kinds of roles she’s after.

      • Janet says:

She won’t get any roles at all if she keeps making movies that bomb at the box office. First Life of Crime and now this turkey… not a good harbinger for the rest of her career.

    • Ally.J says:

daughter of jean I remember seeing her on Ellen saying about being the No. 1 snub, Ellen and her were joking around. It’s all about context and tone but once the words are out there some people are going to give them a different spin depending on how they feel about her. I don’t know if her performance was Oscar worthy or not because I haven’t seen the film with it being on limited release, I think that’s the same with most people and yet they still feel qualified to judge the performance.

      • Annie says:

She wasn’t joking at all, in fact she was being arrogant about it, somewhat boasting that she was the no. 1 snubbed clearly believing that she delivered an Oscar worthy performance in her movie but not recognized. It’s a good thing you did no see the movie because it’s really bad and Aniston looks really ugly without makeup. I can’t believe how ugly and old she is really in real life.

      • lisa2 says:

You do realize she had said that she was the #1 snub in an interview before she went on Ellen.

And how was she surprised by the “Oscar buzz” when she and her people created it.

      • Tarsha_ says:

Talk about spin, she has made the snubbed comment 6 times now, so its clear that she was not joking but some have to spin it to make a 6 times comment look like an accidental joke.

    • GoOnGirl says:

No, she was serious. She really wanted to be nominated for that Oscar and to win!

    • KatyD says:

Umm, she fully expected a nomination. She didn’t hire a mega bucks Oscar coordinator from the Weinstein company for nothing. She also coordinated a post-nomination press conference just for herself, according to a journalist invited to attend and fawn over her. The press conference was cancelled because the nomination never happened. She fully bought into her own Kool-aid and thought she deserved it. Funny how people make every excuse in the book for her arrogance and clear Oscar desperation. She became the Anne Hathaway of this year, except for the fact that Hathaway has talent and doesn’t suck in everything.

  36. TC says:

Let’s hope she has enough sense to show up at the Academy Awards not dressed like Brandi Glanville from RHOBH.

    • perplexed says:

I thought the two dresses she wore to the Oscars (the one in 2009 and the next one in 2013) were among her best outfits. I don’t like the cleavage thing she’s been sporting recently, but her past Oscar outfits have been quite pretty.

  37. funcakes says:

Micheal K from Dlisted wrote that Jen was going to be part of the clean up commitee after the oscars. He also wrote that she’s going to refer to the nominees as “you f#$kers”. Genius.

  38. Darya says:

It’s a little off-topic, but I want to know who Sienna Miller’s publicity team is. She has been booking some major gigs while promoting American Sniper and now she’s presenting at the Oscars. Nice work on rehabbing her image and raising her profile. I’m still waiting for her sloppy impulse control to get her in trouble again, but maybe she’s been working too much to have the time to get bored and go looking for a diversion.

  39. Iheartgossip says:

Ugh. Go drink margaritas in Mexico, for about 3 years.

  40. Lola says:

If she had promoted her movie, instead of herself and how she deserved an Oscar, maybe the movie would have made a couple of million, instead of peanuts.
She lost me when she allowed Chandler to bully Anjie’s children. Not a fan. regardless of what movie she’ll be in or not.

  41. Mel says:

The real #1 snubbed is Jake Gyllenhaal, NOT David Oyelowo. Duh.

  42. smcollins says:

Anyone else drooling over the pic of David Oyelowo? Wow, that is one beautiful man!
