Lindsay Lohan got Esurance to pay $10K to shady volunteer organization

Towards the end of January, there was a sudden explosion of Lindsay Lohan stories. That was because Lindsay had a court date in which she had update the judge on her community service hours, per the terms of her probation. First, Lindsay maybe/probably faked a virus to get out of her court date and her community service, then at the last minute, she claimed she completed 15 days’ worth of community service in just a few days. Because crack math. So, obviously, the city attorney was like “Hold up, this crack math doesn’t make any sense, we need time to investigate!” And so the judge gave the city attorney a few weeks to investigate. Lindsay’s lawyer, Shawn Holley, is due back in court tomorrow to find out what the city attorney’s investigation has uncovered.

In between claims that “meeting fans” counted as community service, Lindsay claimed that she had been doing much of community service with an organization called Community Service Volunteers (CSV). Well, you know how Lindsay did a Super Bowl commercial for Esurance? Well, she somehow convinced Esurance to pay CSV $10,000. Interesting…

Lindsay Lohan successfully lobbied a big company to shell out $10,000 to her community service organization, just days before a judge decides if her community service was legit. Lindsay is in the hot seat for some of her community service hours performed with London-based CSV, after prosecutor Terry White scoffed at the credit LiLo received for meeting with audience members after her London play. White also complained that Lindsay got credit for “work shadowing experience,” where kids followed her around London. Problem was … at the time she wasn’t even working.

Well now TMZ has learned Lindsay contacted Esurance — which featured LiLo in a Super Bowl ad — and lobbied the company last Friday to give $10,000 to CSV. We’ve learned Lindsay told Esurance execs she’s been doing volunteer work for CSV lately because she likes what the org does for poor kids, and that’s why she asked for the donation. Our sources say last Saturday Esurance agreed to give CSV the $10K.

The problem … Lindsay’s due back in court Wednesday because the prosecutor has challenged her community service. It’s possible the judge could ask CSV for more info about Lindsay’s community service and the money could taint the legitimacy of CSV’s response.

Lindsay’s lawyer, Shawn Holley, says, “TMZ has stooped to a new low. To take Lindsay’s positive efforts in supporting CSV and turn them into something negative simply to sell a story is offensive.” She adds, “Lindsay has been involved in helping to raise funds for this wonderful organization since she started her community service there and she has continued her work as a volunteer, even though her community service was completed weeks ago.”

Oh, Shawn Holley. I feel sorry for you. I mean, that’s not fair to Holley. She’s making lots of money off of the Lindsay Lohans and Justin Biebers of the world. But still, it’s got to suck when you have to defend your client even when your client is pulling some seriously shady sh-t. While I don’t think this was a direct payment for the lies CSV obviously told about Lindsay, I do think this whole transaction is suspect.

    2. Does Lindsay ever do anything that isn’t shady?

  2. kri says:

Is that an engagement ring in the first pic? I wonder if the woman she stole it from will press charges?

  3. Lama Bean says:

I agree. I think she looks good in the first pic (except the near wardrobe malfunction of a bra/shirt combination).

  4. TX says:

I dont feel bad to Shawn at all lol remember when she jumped ship and Dina hired that idiot lawyer for a hot second? If I were Shawn, I would have stayed gone. No money in the world is worth dealing with the Lohans

  5. Laura says:

I’m just surprised she’s actually wearing a bra! Crack wonders never cease!

  6. Chesty LaRue says:

Is this esurance run out of the Cayman islands or something? Lindsay will be fine. I hope Shawn Holley accepts checks post dated to 2050

  7. Lucy2 says:

So she hustled money for this organization to say she did her hours. Classic Lohan, and the court will probably Ok it.
Holley should have jumped ship years ago. How dirty must the money be that Lohan pays her with.

  8. scout says:

She needs to make friends with Rande Gerber, he will defend her ALL THE TIME as long as she doesn’t make him feel stupid. Oh wait..talking about Lohan here!

  9. Elleno says:

She just CANNOT do the right thing, ever. I get exhausted just reading about her shenanigans, I cant imagine being one of the people in her orbit of imagined self-importance and drama. Note to Lindsay: Emma Stone has your career, if you ever got serious about sobriety and professionalism!

    • BobbieFisher says:

I really get confused when people compare Emma Stone with Lohan. Yes, I know the obvious red hair/husky voice – but c’mon – the similarities end there. Stone is actually incredibly talented, she aced Cabaret with a great review in the NY Times, not to mention Birdman etc. But really the most obvious difference is Stone is not only sane, but she’s a billion times more intelligent than Lohan. Lohan can barely read, let alone write, she’s a barely functioning illiterate. Also – Lohan has no taste in anything, acting, singing, fashion, whereas Stone is one class act. Lastly Lohan is not so much an addict as she is a psychopath. They are completely different in my eyes.

Help me out her legitimate mental health professionals… How do borderline personalities wield such influence (i.e. twisted manipulation) over others? Is it the sheer force of will and shamelesssness that normal humans feel powerless against?

    • Heather says:

She is in an industry where people welcome and enjoy being manipulated and believe it will someday lead to their own fame if they take it up the rear enough times.

    • Pegasus says:

(S.E.X. + Drugs) x blackmail= Get out of jail FREEEEEEEE!!!!

    Nice double chin, crackhead.

  12. jenn12 says:

How old is she at this point? 27, 28? She’s not a messed up child, she’s an adult with real issues and criminal behavior and addiction. Just thankful she doesn’t have kids.

  13. JenniferJustice says:

At the very least, it was an obvious conflict of interest for CSV to accept a donation from anyone involving Lindsay. I’m sure they do good work, but getting your operating money through shady means undermines the good work they do.

  14. swack says:

Had she given the money when she was paid or when first approached to do the commercial maybe everyone would not be side eyeing her. Also, is this in addition to the money they paid her?

  15. anne_000 says:

    Better call Saul.

“Lindsay has been involved in helping to raise funds for this wonderful organization since she started her community service there”

Which means… that she didn’t ‘help raise funds’ before she started community service with them, but started doing so only after she needed their signature on her credited work hours.

I’m not going to say it was a pay off, but…

And of course she continued her connection with them after her CS ended, because she needs to stay friendly with them in order to have them keep verifying to the prosecutor and judge that her all hours were valid.

  16. Emily C. says:

But it’s a British organization. How would that help her? That’s not the community she was supposed to serve. I can believe she’d think it would count, but would it?

    • Ankhel says:

It would. Because Lindsay amazingly enough got permission from an US judge to do community service in the UK. However, she’s been festering in London for so long now, it’s beginning to make some sort of twisted sense… She should owe them community service simply for being her usual self, no?
