First of all, Jennifer Lopez really needs to stop pissing off her makeup artist. Her makeup at the Oscars was AWFUL. No one – and I mean NO ONE – should wear pink eyeshadow.
Anyway, this story is just for the people who want to relive the glory days of Bennifer 1.0. When Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were together, they were a glorious mess. He was gambling and uncomfortable, and she was trying too hard to make it work. She styled him like a Ken Doll. He got lap dances from strippers. She was married to her second husband when they met. Ben actually worked hard to win her. They did hilariously awkward interviews together. Ben rubbed her butt in a music video. It was glorious time. In the past five years or so, Ben has given lots of interviews about his regrets in the Bennifer 1.0 years. It’s still on his mind, and (just my opinion) some of his interviews could be read as particularly insulting to J.Lo. He really regrets that whole situation.
So, Ben and J.Lo were both at the Oscars on Sunday. Ben did not walk the carpet and he was only there to present Best Director. I’m pretty sure he came alone – Jennifer Garner was not there. I think J.Lo’s date was her manager Benny. And then this happened:
For some celebrities, attending the Oscars means navigating their way through a minefield of exes. For Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, however, it felt like old times.
During the 87th Annual Academy Awards, the exes had a brief, off-camera reunion during a commercial break. After Laura Poitras’s Citizenfour won the award for Best Documentary Feature, Affleck walked over to Lopez, who was seated in the front row. According to ABC News, Affleck whispered something into Lopez’s ear, and she playfully smacked his arm. After reuniting with Lopez, Affleck moved down the aisle and whispered something in Best Actor nominee Bradley Cooper’s ear. The American Sniper star didn’t slap Affleck, however.
Sigh… I mess them!!!!! They were so much fun. I’d like to think this was just a little flirtation – after all, Jennifer has said that while she has regrets about that time, she still cares about Ben and wishes him well. I like that he went over to her and told her some joke or something and they got to have a moment.
Oh, and by the way – we’re pretty sure that Jennifer is back with Casper Smart. She’s just keeping it really quiet these days. I guess we have to give her credit for being self-aware enough to feel ashamed for going back to him.
PS… Remember when Bennifer 1.0 went to the Oscars together? He was so ORANGE!!!

Maybe I’m in the minority on this but I thought she looked beautiful at the Oscars pinkish eye shadow and all. But that sea foam green ( or is that mint? ) dress she wore back in the day will always be my favorite.
I loved them together, too! They seemed so HOT for each other. Like they walked into the house, closed the door and just started ripping each others clothes off!!!! Plus, I will say JLO had Ben styled and looking handsome and hunky. His hair was perfect, his clothes were perfect….and I think, he actually hated that part…he seems like a jeans and T shirt kind of guy…It’s nice that so much time has passed that they can at least speak to each other at an awards show…unlike the TRIANGLE OF DOOM!!! lol

I’m in the minority, too. I liked the way the pink lip added a fresh, modern contrast with the dress. Matchy, matchy makep with that dress would have been so boring. I totally get why most don’t like it though. And, yes, gossip GOLD. They had heat, and how many celeb couples can you say that about these days?
She’s keeping it quiet she’s been back with Caspar because she was schilling a book telling people how she’s learned to be alone and that there were zero men in her life and was working on herself. Kind of hard to go out and hawk those books if she admits she’s got her transexual-loving-cheating toyboy back at the house. The book tour was over and she brought him right back out in public with her.
Ben has said he drops J-LO an e-mail here and there congratulating her on different projects. They seem on friendly terms.
I watched a re-run yesterday of Marc on a daytime talk show. I was really charmed by him and his obvious respect for Jennifer still.

Marc Anthony was such a blatant rebound, I remember feeling kinda sorry for him. The fact that they ended up divorced was really no surprise.
I just remember when Jennifer 1.0 announced their engagement I was all “never gonna happen.” and if course it didn’t. Even his over the top courtship seemed fake to me.
I agree, Marc Anthony was nothing but a ‘rebound’ for Jlo. I was surprised the marriage lasted as long as it did. Personally, I have never ever liked her and I’m glad that Ben Affleck married Garner, who is a totally nice woman and has it all. JLo is too much into herself and she has a bad rep for being overly pushy and bossy.

Didn’t I read a rumor somewhere about an actor being harassed, seconds before he went out on stage, about cheating on his wife? Perhaps there’s some truth to it and perhaps that led to his crankiness?
Frankly, I can’t imagine Ben leaving Jennifer Garner or vice versa, because they both benefit in terms of good PR from their mutual partnership, but I also can’t imagine that he’s been faithful.Shame for the kids, if true.

On ONTD in their tags a few weeks back someone did a “retrospective” post full of photos that were hilarious. I think there were matching velour jumpsuits? Anyways, I wasn’t really around for them either but I think they had a very passionate relationship that included butt massages in a music video, letting E! tour their home, and eventually co-starring in Gigli, which got terrible reviews, and then Jersey Girl, which was edited really weirdly to take out as much Jen as possible because of Gigli and therefore got terrible reviews, and then the wedding was broken off the night before?

Ben and JLO were messy, they reminded me almost of a Jersey shore couple. When Ben was with JLO he chose really bad movies like Gigli and Jersey Girl.. And his reputation was more of a tabloid fixture than a respected actor. Then he married Jennifer Garner and he is where he is now. I think Ben is his own worst enemy and he gets in his way constantly. Kind of foot in mouth syndrome.
Gigli is where they met so he already picked that before they were together.

Ben made a huge comeback as a director, and so many interviews during these periods of promoting those movies as he was making his mark and building back his career was about his disastrous period when his career fell apart and the whole Bennifer. He addresses it in that context, his career and how the media’s obsession with them affected him and his own role in it and the aftermath, how he dug himself out. . I wouldn’t call that overly interested in Jennifer at all, more about his career. He also said it wasn’t fair to her either, the media.
I don’t think he cared for J-Lo with her entorouge around all the time, in the house, makeup artists, assistants, on and on. . It got old. J-LO said recently she thought that contributed to why it ended for her and Ben and contributed in some respects to the problems in her marriage with Marc. Ben said in an interview there were things he ignored in that relationship in the beginning because you care for the person, but ultimately it’s those things that are why the relationship will never last and ends. With Jennifer Garner he said he just knew right in the beginning it was right regarding marriage with no doubts. I think he was alluding to what J-LO was talking about, always surrounded by her hanger-oners and entourage. It wasn’t the life he wanted ultimately.
They looked good together but that Diane Sawyer interview really revealed how annoying and belittling J. Lo can be. I remembered saying outloud “Run Ben Run.” Glad he did. Funny thing is I think he and JG were meant to be. Their paths crossed on Pearl Harbor. Yeah wonky but that’s what I think,

I agree. I have a friend who always does beautiful eye makeup and one day she wore pink and it was so amazingly pretty, and not at all over the top. It actually inspired me to try it myself although sadly I don’t have the expert touch my friend does so it sits in my drawer.
Jennifer Lopez’s Elie Saab Haute Couture Oscar dress was stunning on her! It’s a very classy full length couture. I love the color on her and her hair is perfect. She looked like a beautiful Latin Cinderella. Go girl!
I miss Bennifer. Their episode of South Park remains my all time favorite. I can totally see Ben whispering “I’d hit that” in her ear. And he maybe probably has discreetly hit that a few times since they broke up. While they were totally wrong for other, they both never seemed to completely put it in the past.

My understanding of the Bennifer breakup was that the week before the wedding, a foreign strip club owner came forward with video footage of Affleck and Damon in compromising positions in a back room with strippers. (Not in the US.) He was paid off, but JLo called off the wedding.
My blinds have never once indicated Affleck came to his senses and was the one who called off the wedding.

Look the fact is both jlo and ben were fun together – they looked good – but sadly enough they wanted different things and moved on – but she still looks lovely no matter what and if she is happy with her life then good for her. Here’s what I remember about the Bennifer breakup. Ben was in Canada – Vancouver maybe? – filming a movie and was hanging out at a strip club with Christian Slater and Tara Reid, who were also in Vancouver filming a different movie. Ben hooked up with a stripper in a back room whom I’m sure was called “Brandi”. Jlo found out and I thought she called off the wedding. Then there were those photos of her at the beach the day the wedding was supposed to happen and 5 seconds later she married Marc Anthony.
Her makeup clashes with her dress, and the eye shadow isn’t actually that bad imo it’s the completely tacky Vegas showgirl lipstick that is throwing the whole thing off -but I think with her skin tone she can experiment and look great – I’m jealous as a pale girl, I just can’t pull off so many pretty eye shadow colors. I actually think the mint dress and eye shadow look pretty on her.
I feel weird participating in a convo about two exes, one of whom is married, flirting it up. Because with his interviews he does sound slightly hung up on her sometimes, and if I was his wife that would piss me off! It was a fun time nostalgia wise, though. Some couples were just weird fleeting 90’s anomalies – Matt Damon and Minnie Driver/Winona/(everyone else he dated!) Ben and J.Lo were way more fun than Ben and Gwyneth though.
I think she loved him like crazy, and I think he was crazy about her– I think he was himself with J-lo , but the problem was he didn’t like himself very much… I think Lopez accepted him as he was, whereas Garner molded him into what she thought he should be.
Sometimes you just cannot let go cause of the undeniable, crazy chemistry that you both shared with each other. There are people out there who still cannot let go of the ‘ex’ that got away, sometimes even after 20 years.
