It’s been a long tour for Jessica Simpson as the opening act for country band Rascal Flatts. Simpson has been doing anything and everything to get country music fans to accept her and her music – including playing venues such as fairs and chili cook-offs. For a while, it was working – her first single went to number one on the country charts. But then it all went wrong after a fated appearance at a chili cook off in January sparked controversy. Unflattering photos of Simpson wearing high waisted pants, showcasing her recent weight gain, made the singer’s life a living hell. She tried to get on with the rest of her tour, but in the end, the media scrutiny did seem to bother her and affected her stage performances. Even the last show of the tour was marred by mess-ups.
Jessica Simpson’s days on the road are over.
The singer, 28, played the last show on her “Bob Your Head Tour” (with Rascal Flatts) Saturday in Irvine, Calif.
“I’m just so excited to be here doing this,” she told the audience at the the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. “It’s a dream come true. I feel like I’ve been given a second chance.”
Simpson made headlines while on the road for her buzzed-about new curves and her tendency to mess up songs.
At her final show, the singer (who was back in Daisy Dukes) continued to have a few on-stage mishaps.
She flubbed the opening lyrics to “Remember That,” a song about being in an abusive relationship.
“Oops! I said whiskey too early! I messed up!” she said before starting the song over. “I’m so embarrassed! But I’m starting over again because I really want you guys to hear the lyrics the right way.”
While singing “Still Don’t Stop Me”, she also mixed up the opening line, blushing and running her fingers through her hair.
“I messed up again! I do this all the time!” she said, laughing.
Maybe I’m in the minority here, but if I bought a ticket to that concert, I wouldn’t give a crap about whether or not Jessica could fit into her daisy dukes- but I’d be plenty pissed off that she couldn’t perform a decent show. I mean, she is technically still considered a singer, right? So, instead of worrying about her weight, which will go up and down throughout her life, perhaps she should focus a little more in perfecting her craft as a performer. You know, those little details like LEARNING THE WORDS TO YOUR OWN SONGS. Looks come and go- talent is forever. But maybe that’s just me.

She really lost her luster didn’t she? I ask this seriously…does anyone who follows her know why? I remember she was loved by all during her show, gets a divorce and BOOM! Her star disappears? What happened?

If she keeps messing up all the time, why doesn’t she just let it roll and NOT make an issue out of it.
IMO, I’d rather hear a messed up lyric than an “oops let me start that over”! That’s way more annoying!

Y’know, I’ve been in enough live performances to know the cardinal rule– if you screw up, you GO WITH IT. Try to sell is as if you meant to do it. The last thing you do is stop the show, talk about your flub, and redo it.
She has banked her whole career on playing the dumb blonde….but me thinks was not an act after all.
There’s too many women singers out there that are better looking, smarter, and have better music. She needs a make over, an education, and a new manager.

I hope this goes down as her last string of “professional” gigs. Nick La-whatever stepped into the shadows and I think it’s about time this “hair dresser” did too. She’s always been a hack job.
@ Eileen Yover, I agree. She also needs a new headliner with lots of fans, that are dumb enough to let her open for them. I don’t think anyone is there for her anymore. She is just proving her stupidity to Rascal Flatts fans and probably annoying the heck out of them.

MSAT…sounds like the audience shared your opinion that they should have gotten a decent show, having paid for a ticket. The OC Register reports they booed her the second time she messed up.
“The performance wasn’t helped when Simpson screwed up the lyrics not once but twice during her set: her first mistake on “Remember That” could have been forgiven, but the crowd booed when she messed up again.”

She is so over fo now and needs to re-think what she needs to do to regain her meaning in the industry. I feel bad for her. But she and her sister just seem so *stupid.* Do some charity work? Re-invent yourself?
she’s always been like that, even during newlywed days. honestly, it was nick that made her shine.
So I actually went to the show on Friday (They were in San Diego, and then you know, for the last show, went up to Irvine)
And I have to say, that I intentionally showed up late, hoping that I would miss Ms. Simpson’s opening act :X. As it turns out however, we did not. We caught like the last 3 1/2 songs and a lot of yammering.
And umm, ok. Here’s my review on it if you will allow:
She did gain some weight, but her legs were normal as all get out. It just looked odd because she was wearing this like really boxy black blazer and low cut shirt. Her upper half kind of melded into a big black blob. And her “girls” on that jumbo screen was JUMBO. I couldn’t stop staring like “Holy crap wtf, let them BREATHE!” So ok. Weight gain aside, because really, as a rascal flatts fan, I’m obviously there for music :D. (No seriously, not being sarcastic.) She was gawdawful. She was pitchy, flubbed the lyrics and overshot her range, time and time again. I was actually sad that I hadn’t missed her whole opening act. I really liked her as a pop singer, but a country singer she is not. At first I thought perhaps it was the equipment making her sound like that, but guys, can I tell you that RF was absolutely amazing????? Gary was a tad over the top, but man, can that man sing. They all can.
And you know, I always thought that Jessica COULD sing, although I had never ever seen her in concert until now. But she was terrible. Especially at the end, with her last song, something about love or whatever and she did the whole “holding the note for far longer than necessary and busting my ear drums” business. It was at that moment I decided I really needed me a Coors lite or 5.
She’s been banking on her good looks for far too long. And all this time I thought she had talent….she doesn’t. At least not in regards to country music.
I didn’t think she lost any weight, she just dropped the those awful awful mom jeans and started dressing better.

Am I the only person who believes that if people shell out good money to hear someone sing, that the stupid tart should sing?
Now no one expects Streisand from Britney, but Jessica actually does have a voice and someone should remind her that SHE ISN’T paid to feel good about herself or look cute on stage screwing up the music she’s paid to sing. It’s annoying to hear a grown woman make a fool of herself through being unwilling to grow up and considering what many people her age are doing it’s disgusting.
jessica simpson needs to call this whole im a singer load of crap off. professionals dont forget their lyrics and if they do its rare jessica always forgets at every concert for someone trying to make a transition she sure is screwing up and is and always will be a joke.
jessica was so pretty and cute and seemed really sweet but now she looks very worned down ugly…and she lost her sense of style..i realized she was one rude chick on country radio when she called carrie a liar said she was unclassy and tried to make a mockery out of her, that is when she gave me a bad taste in my mouth she is insecure jealous and threatened by carrie in which give her no right to put someone down for their own insecurity….thats when i started not to like her…she has no class

why shes famous i’ll tell you why:
because she “USED” to be the pretty tiny blonde who was innocent and her big chest helped her as well….she sold herself as a sex symbol when she realized she couldnt do it on singing alone. she used to say she was proud of herself for not dressing procatively like britney and christina apparently that has changed i dont think its bad to dress like that whatever floats your boat but she acted like im holier than thou, and her beliefs didnt matter anymore she is a sell out. i think she is catty,jealous,threatened, and insecure by any woman who is better in general then she is *cough*cough carrie underwood*cough…and i think that she is a b*&ch and she thought she could do so much better then nick and that he was holding her career back…what a slap in her face because she has only went down since then,and nick looks happier and relieved since shes been gone,hes been only with one girl while jessica been who%ing around trying to find thee man..right now its tony but its obvious she is tony’s peice of a$$ right now..shoulda stayed with nick … karma is a b*&^h and she deserves it.

If she always forgets her songs, and always flubs just about everything, and has a voice that is not that great, then what fools actually pay any money to see her, and now she fat to boot.
Annie, my dad and I have been involved in racing since I was about 6, and we still run an occasional stock car race, so I guess I’m used to a different sort of redneck! To give you an idea, I read an editorial recently in which the writer said there were 2 types of racing fans: “tattooed, shirtless, sewer-mouthed drunks…and their husbands.”

Her time has passed. She screwed up when she allowed her daddy to convince her that she was the star of the Newlyweds and that the world loved her, and only her. After allowing daddy to convince her that the ‘best thing that ever happened to her’ was holding her back, she dumped her husband too. What she failed to realize is that the stupid show was popular because of their relationship – not Jessica alone.
She does have talent – she has one of the most pure, clean voices I’ve ever heard (or she used to). She’s just ruined it by being so over the top.

i think she sings good next to britney spears, however if you put her up against,real singer like: leaan,martina, carrie,faith,miranda,….you’ll tell the difference between a singer and an amateur….i dont understand how she can forget lyrics “everytime: not once but its like natural for her now and to stand there laughing about it is disrespectful to the fans who paid for a good show…it shows laziness,stupidity, and that she doesnt care to put the effort to memorize the lyrics…jessica start a reality show with tony honey because your career is over.
