Happy St. Patrick’s Day, y’all! To celebrate, let’s drink some green beer and get into a drunken debate about who, exactly, is the sexiest Irishman. My vote is for Colin Farrell, but it seems like there’s actual hard data on this stuff. A poll was commissioned for St. Patrick’s Day to find the sexiest Irish celebrities. Pierce Brosnan won! What the …? He really wasn’t that awesome as James Bond, and anyone who disagrees can fight me in a drunken Irish death match. The Press Association has more:
Pierce Brosnan is the sexiest Irish celebrity, according to a new poll.
Over a quarter of UK women decided the Mamma Mia! man is the sexiest Irish star as he beat Swat star Colin Farrell and Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating to first place.
The women polled decided to forgive his questionable singing in the smash hit film and instead remembered his suave performance as James Bond to name him the hottest man from across the ocean.
Sadly there was bad news for X Factor judge Louis Walsh, who didn’t manage to swing a single vote. Even TV presenter Terry Wogan managed to wangle 2 per cent, and Bono and Bob Geldof managed 1 per cent.
The top three sexiest Irish women, as voted by the men, were deemed to be Andrea Corr, the One Show’s Christine Bleakley and Girls Aloud’s Nadine Coyle. Bangor beauty and Dancing On Ice star Zoe Salmon also scored highly.
The YouGov survey was commissioned by Irish London-based communications consultancy, Eulogy!, to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

I have absolutely no idea who those women are. But back to the men… friggin’ Bono and Bob Geldof get one percent each, and yet there’s no mention of Liam Neeson? No Jonathan Rhys Meyers? I realize Jonathan is struggling right now, but he’s still hot. Here’s another name that goes utterly unmentioned: Daniel Day-Lewis. Daniel wasn’t born an Irish citizen, but he became one in 1993. Honorary Irish Daniel with mind-blowing talent is better than Natural-born Irish, stuffy gentleman Pierce Brosnan.
And what’s with nobody showing Colin Farrell any love anymore? He’s really talented, and he’s gotten his life back together. Even sober, I bet he’s a lot more fun than Pierce Brosnan.

Colin Farrell all the way! Sure he’s a little bit of a mess, but oh swoon! How could anyone deny it? He’s definitely in my top 5.
I personally find Louis Walsh to be high up on the sexy. But Colin deserves the title for sure.

I love him the more for staying with and loving Keely even though she is so big these days. They always seem so happy and you never hear a breath of scandal. I’m sure he has opportunities to stray and it’s so refreshing to see that he can see past her weight to her soul and want to be with her.

I think the title for sexiest Irishman is a tie between Brosnan and Rhys-Myers (WHY wasn’t he on the list?!!)
Brosnan is FIVE TIMES sexier in general for being devoted to a woman with curves. PERIOD. Not every Hollywood wife can get her old body back after having kids, and I’m pleased she hasn’t shelled out the big bucks to do dangerous things to get her old body back. I LOVE these two. 😀
I’m a big fan of his from back in the Remington Steele days. I love the fact that he loved his first wife dearly and was so devoted through her cancer. And now he loves his second wife through, literally, thick and thin. I was a fan of Sean Connery until I found out he believes in knocking women around. That completely blew any charm I thought he had. Rhys-Myers is adorable and will grow into sexiest Irishman,with Gabriel Byrne giving him a run for it.
I love Pierce Brosnan. His wife was a total stunner, but she has a thyroid condition that caused her to gain weight. Any other guy would have dropped her flat, but not Pierce. He deserves major credit for loyalty and devotion.
??? Are people really giving Brosnan credit for ‘sticking’ with a woman who’s carrying (apparently) a few extra pounds? Surely I can’t be the only one that sees comments like this as incredibly insulting and demeaning to both him and his wife?
I really FELL for Pierce after seeing how funny he was in Mrs. Doubtfire! He seems like a really down-to-earth person who isn’t delusionally grandiose like many famous men.
