George Clooney & Amal had a pap-friendly Good Friday at Babbo in NYC

Here are some photos of Amal and George Clooney out and about on Good Friday. They went out to dinner, because Amal does not cook but she does love to be photographed in candid shots around New York. Honestly, I think their marriage has probably never been stronger since they relocated (temporarily) to New York. Amal seems happier. George seems… well, he looks like he’s in pain, but I think that’s just his back. I’m actually starting to feel sorry for George a little bit – I really do believe his back is killing him and he’d probably much rather sit at home with a heating pad (or ice pack), only Amal doesn’t cook and she loves to be seen.

Amal’s ensemble is Giambattista Valli spring 2015. It’s a minidress with flutter sleeves – that white part is built into the dress. Amal has been wearing a lot of Valli in NYC. I think Giambattista Valli must be one of her new favorite designers, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Valli was sending Amal half their new collection. I wonder if Amal is going to do another fashion spread in another magazine? She famously did a Vogue piece ahead of her wedding. I bet Anna Wintour would love to feature Amal again. We’re coming up on the anniversary of George’s proposal too. Hm.

They went out to eat at Babbo. No word on what they ate there, but it probably didn’t involve tomatoes. Amal hates tomatoes. Also: her hair looks amazing. She must have just gotten a fresh blow-out on Friday.

Her legs are killer. Good for her

    • M says:

That ‘s because of leg spray,Google her pictures w/mini skirt in London you’ll see the difference without it.

  2. GingerCrunch says:

    YOWZA!

  3. FingerBinger says:

I like the dress ,but not on her.

  4. psuedointellectual says:

    Fsmewhore match made in heaven.

  5. Louise says:

Obviously I would(!), but George is looking old even for 53. He last looked hot with that Caesar haircut. She looks amazing.

  6. dulcinea says:

    she has amazing legs!

  7. taterho says:

I was intrigued by the sign behind them that says “Sprinkler Siamese” so I googled it. Huh. You learn something new every day. I thought maybe it was a sprinkler for cats to run through in the summer or something. So it’s actually a dual hookup for the fire depar…

Oh yeah yeah, stay on subject, tater…sorry.
    Amaloonie…swoon…ceramic cockatoos…they’re so in love…wind machine…yadda yadda yadda.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

That’s ok, little tater. I don’t have much either, besides great legs and I once ate at Babbo after torturous, endless reservation proceedings and the pasta was great but everything else was mediocre,

  8. Heather says:

I love Babbo! And she looks amazing.

    • Birdix says:

Me too. My last night before moving out of NYC, I went to Babbo with an old friend. It was a snowy night and we both had the pasta tasting menu–so many delicious carbs!–and rolled out into the cold all warm and stuffed inside.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

If anybody goes, definitely get the pasta tasting menu. I deeply regretted not doing so as everything else was meh, but pasta was amazing.

  9. Joy says:

Her legs are flawless. But I’m always afraid she’s about to flash her biscuit.

  10. InvaderTak says:

That’s a good look. Her fashion seems to be getting better.

  11. Lorelei says:

When did George start looking so old?

  12. Vava says:

Can that dress get any shorter?

  13. Bros says:

I thought when you said pap friendly you meant pap smear friendly, because that dress is way too short for a woman over 20.

  14. Sumodo1 says:

Too short. Amal is past the age for that hemline. She’s channeling Heidi Klum here, and that’s all wrong.

    • Beatrice says:

Yes the dress is too short, but if she was channeling Heidi, the dress would be cut to her navel, too.

    • Nina says:

For some reason I can’t stand arbitrary age limits on clothing choices. If you’re body shape allows for it, what difference does it make to wear a short skirt at 30 vs. 36? There is nothing distasteful about showing off your legs. No one would have a problem if she was wearing a pair of shorts while walking around NYC would they? I say, provided that your clothes are still respectable and well put together, wear what you want while you can.

    • noway says:

It’s not so much an actual age thing as a look thing. Her face looks forties to me, and the short mini look is very young style to me. If your face doesn’t match the style of outfit, it makes you look like you are trying too hard to look young, and that is never a good look. Now if she happened to have a very youthful face she could probably get away with it more.

      • Nina says:

But what’s so terrible about being in your forties or “looking forty” (although I don’t think she does at all) and still wearing a shorter skirt? The outfit looks perfectly appropriate for her shape and is in no way objectionable. She’s younger than Diane Kruger who is constantly lauded for her style choices and wears things that are infinitely more daring and revealing. To me it just seems like petty objections against someone’s personal taste.

      • noway says:

There is nothing terrible with looking forty, fifty or whatever. I just personally feel, and apparently I am not alone in this idea as it gets said a lot, that some styles look better when you are younger including uber short skirts. I would also disagree it’s a good shape for her seems shapeless to me just short, but that is why fashion is interesting, everyone gets to have an opinion.

When you mentioned Diane Kruger she’s a perfect example of what I was saying. I would have never guessed she was 38, she looks a lot younger to me. It’s not always a chronological age but a look.

      • serene says:

@noway: I agree. It has nothing to do with looking 40+, or whatever, just the ‘total picture’ seems wrong, and of course it’s a matter of perception, or perhaps even taste. I find this dress not only too short, but also shapeless. Looks more like a tunic. But it’s her face together with that ‘young’ look that just doesn’t match, and the caked on makeup, and her coy look don’t really help either.

  15. LAK says:

It’s amazing how much her fashion has changed since the wedding. This time last year, she had terrible taste in clothes. Oh to have a limitless clothing budget and first rate designers on speed dial.

    • Beatrice says:

So true–most of us ordinary women could look like stars with daily blow-outs, a stylist, and an unlimited clothing budget.

  16. DogMom says:

She looks very very young here.

Great legs. Beautiful skin. Flawless hair. She has it all. Except for any sense of humility.

    Good luck, girlie.

    • Sara says:

Her legs are too skinny, and she looks like your average Arab lady. What I don’t see is a lack of humility. She just looks like a slightly drunk woman who’s enjoying the attention.

  17. Lorenzo says:

    In Photoshop we trust.

She has a big fat lump on one of her legs, I saw it on a few pics last year and it is still there.
It looks as big as a cherry, thank god it has been photoshopped most of the times.

People has it without Photoshop, the flawless leg….yuck…

  18. Madly says:

With every photo op of her, my respect gets further and further down. I work with smart women who excel in their careers so her situation as a lawyer is hardly new to me. She just married a famous person.

  19. Lahdidahbaby says:

    1. Amal joyfully drinks up the attention, turns toward the pap flashes.

    2. George’s facial expression: resignation.

  20. Wheeze says:

Could she be enjoying the attention more? The hair, the make-up, the attitude – pure Barbara Cartland, circa 1986.

  21. Hazel says:

So, he walks out the door way ahead of his wife, doesn’t wait to see if she’s even coming. Who does he think he is, Prince William?😉

  22. Liz says:

I cannot believe how much popularity George Clooney has lost since his wedding. I thought my 13 year old would go crazy for Tomorrowland only to be informed “Clooneys not an actor anymore, just a reality guy” Asking why? he pointed out the magazine I had with the wedding in it. And informed me his wife career is half made up? He reads everything on social media. I am a life long Clooney fan, all his movies including his latest, dragged all the family to Monument Men and they liked it. But it looks like I’m on my own from here in.
How did it get to this? What went so badly wrong? Why George why?

    • Wheeze says:

I thought he had some common sense and I honestly didn’t mind him in films at all up until his wedding extravaganza. I’ve been following this story since the extraordinary “for the public” wedding at Venice. I was thinking, “Why?” I thought it had an altruistic purpose of some sort, that they’d been trying to set themselves up like Brangelina for some good cause in the end. Because why the spread in Vogue/Hello/whatever?

Nope. Now I honestly think George married her because he wanted to get some cred back after being laughed at for his 2 year contract “relationships.” He felt insulted at the dirty old man jokes at major awards ceremonies.

As for Amal, I still can’t believe how “with the grain” she has turned out to be. During the endless fashion spreads and parading around in designer clothes and smiling at the cams in a semi-coquettish, semi-stern-lecturer way, she seemed to have some secret agenda in hand. I thought they had some PR strategy to get her to become an influential public figure, perhaps a journalistic fighting for the (cue gaze of adulation from the fans at her heroism) underdogs in the human rights world, and I thought that’s why they were courting the media so heavily. It turns out she’s just an ordinary, old-fashion media w****. Nothing more.

Yeah. That’s all there is to it. And that’s why Clooney’s popularity has declined. A major fail in terms of PR. This couple has zero substance and no intention other than to be FAMOUS for the sake of elitism and feeling like they’re A list.
