Kendall Jenner covers the subscriber’s edition of Harper Bazaar’s May issue. She didn’t score the newsstand cover (which went to German model Anna Ewers), but this is still noteworthy. A member of the Kardashian Klan has infiltrated Bazaar. I’m glad it was Kendall since she’s a model by trade, although the shoot isn’t the greatest. She was photographed by Karl Lagerfeld, and the whole editorial is Chanel couture. Kendall’s vibe is very young and hip. That’s why she’s best suited to her Calvin Klein and beauty contracts. In couture, she looks like she’s playing dress up. Journo Laura Brown describes the shoot as “quite the metaphor” because Kendall is “coming out of a box.” Like a doll.
The interview is a bit vapid, but I don’t expect substance from the Kardashians. Kendall talks about her hope for fashion longevity and how she’s moving to a no-carb diet. Is that possible? She probably means “low-carb,” especially since Kendall admits to loving pasta. She idolizes her most famous sister, Kim, and truly admires Kim’s fashion sense:
Lagerfeld calls her “girl of the moment”: “I started this hoping that it would have longevity. I didn’t come into this thinking it’s going to be a fun thing that I’m going to do on the side. It’s something I want to do my whole life. It’s a career, so I needed to be really gentle with it. We had to pick and choose things very specifically.”
Her favorite food: “If I’m being honest, pasta. But I’m working to stay away from it because I’m trying to get on a no-carb diet. I’m trying to cut out bread, or just cut down on it. I eat too much bread.”
Her ambition: “I’m definitely ambitious. This past year has changed my life in so many ways. I’ve met so many people, I’ve been so many places. When you look back at it, it’s pretty crazy. I’d love just continuing that, continuing to grow.”
Her dream style: “I really admire Kim’s style. It’s insane. She really knows how to work her style with her body. I think she could be a major fashion icon. It’s so fun to be in Paris with her, but I’ll walk out and be like, ‘Oh, my God, I love my outfit,’ and then I’ll see Kim and I’ll be like, ‘My outfit sucks compared to yours!'”

I think Kendall has some cool street style and have no idea why she’d admire Kim’s delusional fashion. Actually, we’re mostly talking about Kanye’s fashion sense at this point, which is equally delusional. Both Kendall and Kylie look up to Kim. That only proves to me how divorced from reality the entire family really is (despite starring in a reality show). No way does Kim know how to work her style with her bod. Exhibit A, y’all.

Somehow in her world all of this makes sense and wearing a peplum top with a large derrière becomes an admirable act.
It’s not blindness, it PMK holding a gun to her head telling her what to say.

Although Kim paid for her curves, it is really hard to dress a curvy body. You can either look lumpy, fat or sexy. The difference is how closely your clothes fit your body. She does an okay job of dressing herself.
Some designers that give her clothes don’t know how to dress a woman’s body. I don’t think Ricardo or Olivier R. know how to dress women with curves. If designers made clothes for a US size 8 instead of 0, we could all tell what looks good.
I would imagine that a great tailor would help a lot.
J Lo and even Nicki Minaj manage to dress their curves really well. The again, they seem to understand and love their bodies. Contrast that with Kim, who always looks uncomfortable and unsure of herself and you can see why it doesn’t work.

She seems sort of square-ish to me (no shade, I don’t have the hour glass shape myself) with big boobs but a proportionate bum.
Also, I should have added that Minaj dresses better NOW. I agree that she didn’t always dress well, but her new look is far more toned down and flattering IMO.

In that quote from Kim, she was actually referencing Kourtney. Kim was pissed because Kourtney wouldn’t sign-off allowing Kim to use her name (for a game/app?) without Kourtney getting cash compensation.
From the show teasers, people thought she was talking about Kendall- the sister that’s a model.

Ugh, just go away. Those pics are so boring. The clothes are wearing her. For a “model of the moment”, she doesn’t seem to possess that “It Factor”.
The box and packing fluff shots are giving me serious wedding magazine vibes. There was an ad for some dress designer that was literally the same thing, just a foofy wedding dress instead of Channel. Boo, Karl! So derivative, and of wedding mag ads no less.
I felt the same way. The clothes just are awkward on her. And they may be awkward on any model – don’t know. Also, she really does not need to go low carb or carb free.
My takeaway from this piece: Kendall Jenner is nearsighted.

She looks like Mannequin Madonna in the jump photo. In fact, she has zero expression at all, which makes her bland. She has some of the model posing down, but her face doesn’t ‘sell it’.

There is no way she thinks this. Even Kim know she looks hideous, you just have to look at how uncomfortable she looks in those outfits Kanye puts her in.

Kendall sucks as a model. She is a pretty girl, not breathtaking or beautiful but still pretty.She would be like the popular girl of her school (oops she didn’t go to school) but for a model no. She is boring and lacks charisma. Modeling is more than just a cute face.

If it weren’t for her family connections and free publicity that goes with her and she was a regular girl she wouldn’t score any of these major contracts or covers.
I have the same chest issue as KK, and I don’t think she dresses well for this kind of body. It becomes a little too hoochie when you’re determined to show it off all the time.

While Kim may have gotten Kendall’s foot in the door, it’s the Kanye connection that really made her career.
IIRC, Kendall really only became the in demand, “it” girl of the modeling world and getting big name runway shows and contracts after Kanye came into the family and pushed the idea that the Kardashian/Jenner brand = high fashion.

If Karl Lagerfeld says you’re the girl of the moment, you’re the girl of the movement. She better have a back up plan. Look for a rich man to settle down with or think of other careers to pursue when the fashion industry is done with you. This is why I hate Kris AND Bruce Jenner for letting their kids drop out of school. Kendall and Kylie are not bright.
I find her to be a really bland, blah model. I do not think she would be such a big deal if she were not a Kardashian. That said, she looks refreshingly nature compared to her Frankenstein sisters.
