Lindsay Lohan admits it’s “scary” to be unemployed

29408PCN_lohan

Oh Lindsay Lohan, you ridiculous, delusional girl. When are you going to learn not to give interviews unless you’ve got something specific to promote? Nylon magazine decided to put Lohan on the cover of their 10th Anniversary edition, so of course they had a sit down with her. Because Lilo is so much more than just a pretty face. She’s depth, she’s character. And she gave some truly amazing quotes. Like not apologizing for how she’s spent her college years. And the stress of being unemployed when she’s got big payments on her house. Let’s pick apart and enjoy.

On Having Her Picture Taken:
I love doing photo shoots… I mean, if I could just sign with IMG and do ad campaigns and model more, I’d do that… because that’s fun for me. That’s not work.

Her one Mean Girls reference:
There’s not much I can do about the fact that I’ve become a kind of tabloid obsession. I can’t change that. And yes, the websites, the gossip pages, and all of that stuff have hurt my career – they’re like the Burn Books of Hollywood… but I really don’t feel like I should have to prove myself to anyone because of living out my college years in the public eye. I’m glad everything happened the way it did.

[From Nylon]

Sweetheart, just because you’re college age doesn’t make these your college years. Unless you actually buckle down and go to college. These have been your driving around, getting drunk, getting stoned, and shopping too much years. I’m sure a lot of people would love to spend their late teens and early twenties that way too. But few do.

So now that Lohan’s nearing the end of her “college years” (I wonder what she’s doing for graduation?), she’s obviously matured and will get a job and buy a house, right? Well, she’d like us to think so.

Lindsay Lohan — who hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2007’s I Know Who Killed Me — says she’s looking for a job.

“It’s scary when you realize, ‘Oh my God, I’m not working. And I have a house to pay for now.’ … she says in April’s Nylon.

[From Us Weekly]

You were momentarily impressed that Lohan has a mortgage payment, right? That’s how she makes it sound. But what she actually has is a $10,000 a month rent. Mortgage = home buying, generally a smart investment. $10 grand in rent = blowing $10 grand a month. Not a smart financial decision. But why invest in real estate and a roof over your head when you can invest in leggings!

Interestingly, when most people are unemployed and scared about it, they tend to curb the spending. Now I realize Lindsay Lohan single-handedly supports a huge section of our retail economy, so I’m not actually suggesting she stop spending. But she shouldn’t be surprised when all that shopping combined with unemployment equals moving back to Long Island and living with her mom.

Though I do have an idea how Lohan’s been supporting herself through her perilous unemployment, and it has a lot to do with synthesizers, triangles, and neon.

Here’s Lindsay Lohan spending another day socializing. Pacific Coast News reports that after she left Samantha Ronson’s house, she was picked up by an unidentified male in a silver Porche. Images thanks to Pacific Coast News.

Leave them damn drugs alone and she would be employed!

  2. HEB says:

So…why doesn’t she do that modeling thing then? We know there are still desperate companies out there willing to use her face, why not find more?

  3. Sauronsarmy says:

“And yes, the websites, the gossip pages, and all of that stuff have hurt my career”

Is she ever going to take responsibility? Stop blaming other people hohan you aren’t 12 years old anymore.

  4. Codzilla says:

But, Lindsay, most of us don’t lose our jobs with the luxury of millions in the bank. (And then proceed to blow it on, well, blow.)

  5. Cindi says:

I really wish she would just go away!!! She really isn’t talented and that commercial for Fornarina is absolutely ridiculous!!! I know it’s European, but come on!

  6. She’s talking about how hard it is to find a job?! Boo-f*ckin-hoo. I graduated with a BA in Pre-Law and Psychology from a top 10 University, and now all I can find is a part-time gig pushing papers at an insurance office. Joy.

Sure, it’s not the “career” I had in mind after graduation, but in this economy . . . I need to take what I can get. Even if it does come with a soul-crushing sense of failure and a sharp reduction in self-esteem . . .

  7. Elizabeth says:

LMFAO@that commercial. Holy crap! That was bizarre, and almost embarrassing to even watch. Much in the same way I know who killed me was*… hrm… I see a trend forming here.

*To be honest I was only able to get through about 15 minutes of trying to partake in the visual feast that is I know who killed me before I had to say goodbye and turn it off.

  8. becca says:

“Scary” to be unemployed…she deserves to be unemployed until she owns up to her bad habits instead of acting like a child.

I heard somewhere that actors and actresses stop aging at the age they became famous.

So, how old was she during the Parent Trap? 11, 12?

  9. (Sorry for the rant – I had an interview lined up for a Library position I really wanted, and they just called in today and told me not to bother. Maybe I can self-medicate with an 8-ball. I hear it works faster than weed and liquor. 🙁 )

  10. Shawn says:

It seem Lidsay is getting her act together. But she still has a lot to learn. I wish her the best of luck.

  11. L says:

yes, she is so reflective of these tough economic times and how scary it is for those who are unemployed with financial responsibilities. the girl is clueless. the comment about modeling and wishing she could get paid to have fun rather than work says it all about her.

  12. Wow says:

    JaundiceMac – excellent post.

Lohan needs to just muzzle it. No one is feeling her freaking “pain”. Also, modeling IS WORK. Work that she wish she could get more of apparently. Please!

    Hang in there though, Jaundice.

  13. neelyo says:

The way she looks now I can’t believe anyone even pays her to model. That commercial is hilarious. I don’t even believe her when she says ‘wow’.

Even if she still had any of her childhood talent left, she seems to have burnt up all good will in Hollywood. I give it a year before she’s doing HUSTLER and telling everyone that it’s to prove she can do adult roles.

What’s in the water at the Disney studios that makes all of these girls such fucked up adults?

  14. OXA says:

Her idea of carey finances and ours are way off. I read somwehere that she bought new car yesterday. I think that you really learn the value of money when you dont have it and are struggling to pay for basics like food, rent, bus fare.

  15. Blondie says:

I think the difference b/wn college people and la Lohan is that college people don’t generally have the inflated sense of self-importance and entitlement that Lohan has.

Not saying its all her fault as bad (read lack) of parental role models and fame too much too early has affected her detrimentally. However, she just doesn’t appear to realise she is responsible for her life. Think she probably never willo either.

  16. Codzilla says:

Jaundice: Keep your chin up. If it makes you feel any better, my first job out of college was as an assistant receptionist. Not the receptionist, mind you, but her ASSISTANT. And that was many years ago when the economy was decent.

Ps: Weed and liquor always did the trick for me. Plus, you’re less likely to end up wild-eyed and cuffed in the back of a cruiser.

  17. Annie says:

    Oh Jaundice! I FEEL you.

I graduated last year with a degree in political science and a minor in law and society from a the seventh best political science school in the nation and I now work in a firm talking to clients, not making crap for money.

But it’s a job. And it pays the bills.

  18. becca says:

Y’know, listening to those graduates that are in crap jobs is making this IR sophomore freaking PETRIFIED. I wanna go to grad school, but so many of the schools I think about looking at (and I’ve taken a glance at) are asking for some professional experience. EEK!

  19. the original kate says:

no, lindsay, the tabloids didn’t kill your career, you did that all by yourself. god, she’s dumb. but i do have to say thank you for making the worst commercial i have ever seen, so thanks, linds. i’m still laughing!

  20. Blondie says:

omg.. just watched the commercial…this girl is a joke. This is what has happened to her acting career….not sure there’s any way up if she’s fallen that low and cheesy.

Anyone remember when Lilo declared she wanted an oscar at 30 ish…. think this ad proves she’s def heading towards that (sic)

  21. PJ says:

Do stars really buy their own clothes or do designers give/lend them clothes to wear for free, in exchange for being photographed wearing their designs?

  22. boomchakaboom says:

Yikes. That was a horrible ad.

  23. Z says:

Funny, Jaybird: Sweetheart, just because you’re college age doesn’t make these your college years.

This site cracks me up. Very fun.

Neelyo, you do have to wonder about Disney!

Becca, sometimes jobs right out of school aren’t the best…but it really does get better!

Hang in there, Jaundice, something better will come up!

  24. heh-heh says:

She’s a great looking girl. If she gets her act together she could rule L.A.

  25. Aspen says:

Hang in, Jaundice. When I finished my construction management major with a 4.0, my first job paid me less than the teenager we had answering phones at the front desk.

I promise you…it will get better.

  26. JaundiceMachine says:

Thanks guys. I didn’t mean to try to out-whine Lohan, I just was so crushed that a job I really wanted (and was very well qualified for), passed me over without the decency of an interview. I know it may sound a little silly coming from a semi-anonymous person on the web, but I really appreciate the votes of confidence. It makes me feel a lot better to hear that I’m not alone in the post graduate bitch-slap. So thanks guys.

    And Fu*k em’, Bucky!

(Ps – The other thing that perked me up was LiLo’s commercial! Wow. I’m going to forward it to everyone I know.)

  27. Anggelapine says:

why the people always busy body about lilo no job or career even she doesn’t has a job she never bother your life or ask you for the money. I think the time for you guys open your eyes not always talking bad about lilo and her girlfriend. Give them space for their privacy life.

  28. Payton says:

Well, at least Lindsay’s honest about something. LL should get rid of fugly Sam. Ever since LL hooked up with her, she has looked unhealthy & unwell. LL must be desperate for love, or Coke. LL would get hired if she would stay clean-she’s beautiful & talented when she is healthy.

  29. Madelyn Rose says:

Oh, Lilo. I feel bad for her because she is so misguided. She is making choices now that are ruining her future. Her bad reputation precedes her and no director, producer, etc. wants to work with her or take the risk. I think the drugs and alcohol make her delusional and she can’t see what we see clearly. This child has just got to clean up and get it together. I think some of your comments about a star being stunted emotionally as of the age they are famous are very astute. I think that is the problem with so many famous people. I just think Lindsay is sad now. I hope she gets some help because I hate seeing anyone self destruct.

  30. Bodhi says:

I don’t feel sorry for her in the slightest. She snorted away everything she had & could have had

  31. Aspen says:

I’m with Bodhi…I have ZERO sympathy for someone who was GIVEN so much opportunity on a silver platter. Most people have to bust their asses for a lifetime and be in the right place at the right time to get even a GLIMPSE of where Lindsay Lohan was in her career by the age of 16.

She is where she is because of low character, a volatile temperament, and a wicked sense of entitlement. I have no sympathy for any of that.

You can blame her horrible childhood or whatever else if you insist upon it…but most people have crappy childhood experiences. Most people have less than perfect parents. Many kids come up in violence, chaos, poverty, and a litany of other horrible things Lindsay Lohan never had to experience. So I don’t buy it. She’s got only the chick in the mirror to blame.

  32. Jazz says:

I can’t believe she is complaining, I wish I had been given the opportunities she had.

  33. kimberly says:

what a stero-generic girl she is. She was a media whore wanting all the attention, and now wants to say that it’s their fault that she can’t get work. whatever.

It’s her own fault and she’s trying to flip it.

just put down the straw and pick up a clue Linds!!!
