The Daily Mail has some new photos of Benedict Cumberbatch in Rome – go here to see them. In the photos, Benedict looks like a tourist – he’s taking photos, talking a walk through the streets and stopping to check out some of Rome’s most famous sites. According to the Mail, Sophie Hunter(batch) did not join him on this trip, although he does have a woman by his side in several of the photos. The woman looks like a middle-aged teacher-type, maybe some kind of elite tour guide or the mother of a friend, something like that. I’m not getting “flirtatious” from any of the photos, if that’s what you want to know. I get a vibe of “let me show this young man some of the beautiful architecture of this city.” He apparently stopped by “the Santa Maria di Trastevere church, the Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps.” Bendy’s Roman Holiday. He’s SO Audrey Hepburn.
So why is Benedict in Rome? Isn’t Sophie due really soon? We don’t know her due date for sure, but this whole time, I’ve been assuming (based on “math” and “conspiracies”) that she’s due late April/early May. I assume her imminent delivery is why she couldn’t fly to Rome as well. In any case, it seems that Bendy isn’t in Rome just to do some sightseeing. He’s in Rome to film a part in… Zoolander 2??! When did that happen? Apparently, it happened pretty recently. There were some Italian rumors a few days ago that Bendy arrived in Rome and that’s when people were like “Oh, I guess Benedict has a cameo or some small part in Zoolander 2…?” So there you go.
Meanwhile, there’s a rumor/report that Benedict’s Doctor Strange will make some kind of appearance ahead of the full-length movie set to be filmed this fall/winter (and released next year). The rumor is that Benedict will pop up as Doctor Strange in the Marvel’s Netflix series Iron Fist. Eh. I kind of doubt that?

There was a leaked list of Met gala attendees and they were on the list to attend that’s not until May.
I honestly think Cumberbitces be crazy and she’s probably not due for a while.
Benedict is on the list of Met Gala attendees. Sophie is not on the list. It’s possible he’ll go without her, you know?

Although I find him to be hotter now than in 2011, I liked him better as a person back in 2011 than I do now. He just comes across as someone I wouldn’t like to meet, which is sad because he had been my make-believe-boyfriend for quite a while. And no, it’s not because he has a wife now (that doesn’t matter in make-believe-world) – as so many Cumberfrauen like to toss at CumberSideEye -ers like myself: that we must be jealous of Sophie Hunterbatch. Nothing could be farther from the truth. He now comes across as such an idiot that I almost feel sorry (but not quite) for Ms. Hunterbatch.

The only complaint I’ve seen from people who were actually there is organization, the security got overwhelmed.
I’ve looked at some pics of the event and while I’m not really invested anymore, I still can’t help but wonder what caused that shift in his demeanor and (at least public) personality. Like he made a complete 180, looking so serious with fans, IDK. But it’s more, it’s his entire ‘aura’, his charm. It’s like it’s left him. And I can’t wrap my head around that. Partners do rub off on people, some adapt a lot of traits of their significant other. But maybe it’s all just him. *Shrugs*
Maybe he’s just trying to keep up with her. According to him, she’s super-brilliant (he sounds more and more like Arthur in Cabin Pressure), so maybe he’s afraid if he plays the dork she’ll be put off and he’ll end up in the doghouse. 🙂
