I’ll give it to Scarlett Johansson: when she wants to turn it up and look effortlessly movie-star glam, she can do it really well. These are photos of ScarJo outside of the Ed Sullivan Theater in NYC yesterday. She was going into a taping of The Late Show with David Letterman. Scarlett’s white dress is Roland Mouret’s Abersley dress and it’s very, very pretty. I’m still not really sure about her hair – in some photos and videos, it looks very “Miley Cyrus” and in other photos, it just looks really bad. I also think it’s going to look worse when she tries to grow it out, but hey, live and learn. Here’s a clip of ScarJo with Letterman last night:
She apparently spent a lot of time complimenting and praising Letterman. They also talked about her baby a little bit, and I was reminded of how Scarlett and Blake Lively are both promoting projects at the same time and both gave birth within a few months of each other and both got a ring from Ryan Reynolds. Do you think Scarlett is even aware of Blake? Or is she like, “Oh, that TV girl, whatever”? We know Scarlett is still digesting – and throwing shade at – the whole Ryan situation.
This video has been making the rounds for a week too. Cosmo UK got Mark Ruffalo to answer the questions Scarlett usually gets. Ruffalo was adorably game – I just wish they had followed through with it for the whole interview. I wanted to know about Ruffalo’s diet!
I really enjoy their body language. They’re so comfortable with each other and I love that Scarlett assumed the “boss” position with her arm behind Mark. And you know… they have some kind of love story or romance in Age of Ultron too. That will be interesting.

I noticed the body language between Mark and Scarlett too… and I’m glad you decided to cover that interview!
He’s definitely content to take a backseat and let Scarlett shine. He’s so much more secure in his own skin than the other male Avengers… and it’s very telling that security breeds tolerance and respect. Renner, Evans and RDJ must get all their self-worth from their fame, which is pretty dangerous.
Also, I doubt Blake is on Scarlett’s radar at all. Which is how it should be.
They are the best ones in the movie, RDJ isn’t as funny and charming as usual.
It makes good tabloid copy, but I doubt they are on each other’s radar.
@Brittney B
Agreed! I love Mark Ruffalo! He’s so humble and funny and talented!
As for Blake, I doubt Scarlett even aknowledges her…I am not Scarlett’s biggest fan and I’m no Blake fan either but career wise there is such a deep gap! Scarlett is on a whole other level and I don’t think Blake will ever be able to even get close to her in that field.
I think Blake knows it, too. The similarities are obvious but superficial… they have very different priorities, professionally and personally.
If that dress was shorter I’d want it.
What’s going on with the triangular bodice piece tho?
I’m wondering about the punch out/lace/whatever parts. I think they’re birds. Or maybe fish.
ETA I googled. I guess they’re flowers.
Interpretive Cheez-It punch outs.
I really want that length to come back because I don’t love my knees, but I have to agree it’s a bit matronly.
Love the length! Much more flattering in my opinion. I’m sorry, but I’m tired of seeing knees(I don’t love my knees either lol).
Pretty dress, I don’t know about movie star glam. Sort of a wealthy suburbanite’s spring dress.
This exactly. Greenwich housewife in the city for lunch.
I think she looks great, minus the hair, that hair is awful.
She looks terrific. I love her whole look including the vanilla ice hair
She went from looking really hot just a few years ago to looking really matronly.
It always seems to me as she’s got too big feet for such a tiny body.
She looks good though, the best she’s ever looked in my opinion.
You look at her magazine interview history right here on Celebitchy, Scarlett is the one either throwing shade or talking about how she misses her ‘best buddy’ in often bringing up her ex husband.
The London Evening Standard actually did a joke count along on her vs. Reese Witherspoon in how often they talk about ex hubbies and from separation to remarriage and Scar Jo scored highest. IF any party is giving the other a thought it would seem to be the other way around.
I think she looks amazing…hair and all.
Love the dress, hate the hair. I couldn’t even finish listen to her sucking up to Dave Letterman.
I love you GNAT! #Alwaysonpoint
She seems to be trying to get rid of her pretensious vibe and go for the humor angle.
Pretty glam.
I like that they flipped the questions in that interview.
The hair is so awful-it makes her face look bulbous….
I like the dress-but her whole head silhouette is just wrong.
yeah I don’t always love the hair but when it’s styled right, it gives her an edge that long hair never did.
This style, here, though? Is terrible. And even with that she still looks good.
I don’t think she gives a hoot about her exes’ current pieces, no matter how juicy the copy would be and even if she did occasionally mention an ex.
And with a Tony+ Hollywood starmaking franchise + ability to open a movie on which she has top billing even when she did no promo for it, I doubt she needs to. Hell she even cut off her hair and manages to still be gorgeous in looks-obsessed Hollywood.
Love the hair. Hate the dress. It looks like she’s wearing a kitchen curtain
I think she looks great. The dress just needed to be above her knee and it would have been a grand slam. I think the length that she is wearing it at is for a mature woman over the age of 50. Other than that she looks wonderful.
The dress looks like it was cut from a lace table cloth and the shoes are a weird color. She’s a beautiful woman but her styling isn’t working for me today.
I found her to be kind of inarticulate???? Maybe I am being unduly harsh after being kept on the phone too long just now…
No, I agree. I found that too. Lots of ‘ums’ and ‘likes’ …. very difficult to listen to
I wish they had taken the Cosmo interview a little more seriously, actually. I thought it was a nice little sociological study and they could have started a discussion either during or after. Instead, Mark made some sexist remarks and Scarlett bailed him out when she was uncomfortable because she sensed he was uncomfortable. There was one moment where they both engaged with the reporter but it was short-lived. I would like to see more reporters attempt this.
On point as always Miss J.
I don’t like the dress and it looks like Kim Kardashian showed her how to wear a coat
