Well, I guess we can still say that Kim Kardashian knows how to cause a commotion at the Met Gala. This is her third year in a row at the Met Gala, and at this point, I think people really do expect her to show up. She didn’t wear Givenchy or Lanvin or Balmain. Instead, she worked with Peter Dundas for Roberto Cavilli on this custom-made dress in white and nude. Many are pointing out that this look is basically a variation on the Givenchy Beyonce wore to the Met Gala in 2012 – go here to see those photos. Compare and contrast. The designs are strikingly similar.
Apparently, Kim was shedding feathers on the red carpet too, and journalists were grabbing the feathers as soon as they shed. Does Kanye look disappointed in his Real Doll? Was he expecting more from her custom-made look? Doubtful. I bet Kanye is really happy that Kim is trying to look like a variation of Beyonce. Also: KANYE’S FRINGE.
Also in Cavalli? Gong Li, one of the co-chairs of this year’s Met Gala. While I dislike the combination of black lace with burgundy velvet – WTF? – I think she looks stunning. But then again, I think Gong Li is one of the most beautiful women in the world. She could wear a brown paper sack and still look amazing.

Chinese designers are about elegance and structure. I’m not hear to bash Kim, but it’s not appropriate for the event or her figure. Dress for your body……bigger girls are beautiful but not it a dress meant for a stick.

Gong Li managed to be something almost entirely missing from this year’s Met Ball: elegant.
I guess this is the difference between being a person with actual talent versus an attention-seeking fame whore.

Gon Li is gorgeous. Fell in love with her in “Memories of a Geisha”, she was so good and beautiful in that.
That’s really cool and I Lurv the color, but I think the back wasn’t entirely executed right. It’s lumpy, and she is very thin, so I’m not sure what’s going on. But overall, it works; the cit, the gorgeous color and details. I’m not completely in love with that particular lace though.
Kim’s dress is a mess, but no surprise: Vegas showgirl wedding dress.
Too me the velvet is too heavy and pulls on the lace. If you look at the front, where they join looks puckered and not sewn well and I think it’s the weight of the material that does that.

The “dresses” and attention seeking is indeed terrible, but I truly don’t agree with “all 3 of those girls are big”… Kim and J.Lo are quite petite in height and frame too (having a pear/hourglassy figure doesn’t make you fat), and Beyonce is actually at her thinnest ever except for Dreamgirls, she is of average height and build but quite small in the pics.
I think the proper question is why is the naked look still a look? It was edgy for about a month and then it just started looking tacky. I’m tired of it.
Gong Li looked absolutely stunning. Kim’s dress is hideous – when I look at it, I imagine Dundas in his studio trying to make a frankendress out of Marchesa’s old wedding pieces and planning to sew Kim straight into it. Kanye looked like he was wearing a fringed rich old man pajamas but at least it’s different than a simple, boring tuxedo 90% of men chose to wear.

I confess, I don’t think Kim could do anything I’d love. The artifice, showboating and desperate desire to mimic Beyoncé every chance she gets are just such old news to me. Kanye’s refusal to smile….it’s all just so contrived. The Met Ball has taken on a very different vibe, and I mourn the loss of what was once such an elegant affair. It’s now all Jennifer Lopez’s ass cheeks, Sarah Jessica Whatever’s stupid head pieces and Rianna’s 25 foot train. Just vapid.

I didn’t think it could be worse than Beyonce’s dress, but here is Kim looking hideous, and that is definitely the correct word. Kim needs to stop competing with Beyonce because she doesn’t know how to dress her body and she doesn’t have any kind of style, so she will always look worse. Beyonce needs to stop because Kim isn’t even in her realm of competition.

It has been under her tutelage that Vogue went from a fashion institution to putting reality TV/sex tape stars on it’s covers, and that the Met Gala has gone to shit as well. Yeah, I’ll probably get ripped for this and as a curvy woman myself I almost feel guilty typing it, but if Kim wants to wear clothes like this she needs to lose like 10 lbs. I am not saying she is FAT because she isn’t, but she is not the slim and trim woman she thinks she is. I assume she is Spanx-less for a change, but from the side, she looks dumpy and chunky. I realize a lot of this has to do with the fact that Kanye puts her in clothes that someone who is 5’2 does not belong in. I do not like this look on any of the women who wore it, but the difference between Kim and Beyonce and JLo is that Beyonce and JLo have actual fit bodies while Kim looks in a magic mirror and sees a body that isn’t really there.

It is so big that she practically has no torso because she has her boobs up top and then this enormous ass and it makes her look very “beefy,” especially since she is so short. I can’t help but laugh at her though, because she lives in a fantasy world and doesn’t accept reality. I saw a picture she posted on Instagram of her and JLo from behind that Kanye took, and somehow Kim has a magically tiny waist in the photo despite the fact that she clearly has no waist and a very thick, wide midsection at the moment judging by all of the other pictures from the Met Gala.
