Adam Levine got sugar bombed outside Jimmy Kimmel by a ‘repeat offender’

Above is a video of Adam Levine signing autographs for the crowd before he was scheduled to perform with Maroon 5 on Jimmy Kimmel live yesterday. He’s flanked by three security guys. Somehow a person in the front of the crowd manages to get out a bag of sugar and dump it all over Adam’s face. (That’s at about :55 in.) Adam looks shocked, steps back and gets support from his friend, and then the security team descends on the culprit and detains him. At about 1:30 Adam angrily goes over to confront the guy but then quickly leaves.

The unnamed assailant is in his 30s and The Hollywood Reporter claims that he “also allegedly threw a rock at Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson last week.” Maroon 5’s latest single is “Sugar” and it’s assumed that this was meant to be some kind of dumb pun.

ET Online reports that the suspect was arrested and that “Hollywood police told ET that he is a repeat offender with five victims currently pressing charges against him for battery, including Levine.

A rep for Jimmy Kimmel Live told The Huffington Post that “Immediately after the incident occurred, Jimmy Kimmel Live security followed protocol and alerted LAPD, who responded quickly and are looking into the situation.” Maroon 5’s performance apparently went on as scheduled. Fan photos show that Levine got cleaned up and even wore the same jacket to perform.

For all the perks, advantages and free stuff celebrities get, incidents like this remind us how much of a hassle it can be. They get recognized almost everywhere they go, they’re harassed by rude paparazzi, and some have psycho stalkers. Even with security, they can’t be protected against every scenario. This creeper reminds me of the guy who assaulted Brad Pitt, Kim Kardashian and America Ferrera at public events. Sure it’s funny and sugar is relatively harmless but it must have been scary at first. I never thought I’d have much sympathy for Adam Levine but there you go.

Played a fantastic show today @adamlevine79 @maroon5 new album is AMAZING! #UnKissMe💋

    • darkdove says:

I wont laugh at this yeah it was sugar harmless but it could have easily been something bad trown at him.

      • PrincessMe says:

I agree. It’s not funny, it could have been something much worse (can you imagine if his song was “acid rain” or something like that?). And this is why I don’t shade celebrities who have a lot of security around them, even on a daily basis. There are some crazies out there.

      • darkdove says:

yeah I dont know why people laugh at this there are people i dont like but I woulnt say they deserve being assaulted just because I dont like them.

    • Debbie says:

Sorry this isn’t funny. I’m not a fan and yes it was just sugar but it could have been something dangerous and serious. He could have been hurt or the people around him.

      This is creepy.

      • Judyk says:

Not funny in the least and, yes, creepy.

      • Josefa says:

It could’ve been, but it wasn’t. It was just sugar. I can’t believe he even pressed charges for this. What a pussy.

That doesn’t mean the guy isn’t any less of a creep, though. Throwing rocks is on another level.

      • Lo8 says:

        Imagine….

    • Boopybette says:

That E! Caption will only encourage more morons.

  2. mia girl says:

    The assailant is a jerk.

    • Kiddo says:

As is the assailee (a word I just made up)

      • mia girl says:

True. But even Adam Levine, with his Kohl’s playing music (hat-tip to @mimif), should not be attacked by this bozo.

So for today, I will award Levine with a
        get-out-of-jerk-jail-free card.

      • Kiddo says:

Meh. I didn’t say the guy should get away with anything. And Adam Levine is still a jerk. Those two things are not mutually exclusive.

      • mia girl says:

I guess I’m speaking more generally and not specifically to you (although I did respond to you, but I guess its because I luv ya). Anyway, lot’s of people on Twitter yesterday were saying things like Levine deserves it.

So I was just framing this like a case of picking your jerk poison.

    • Sabrine says:

There’s nothing funny about this, at all. The next guy could throw some lethal chemical that could damage skin or eyes. They need to be able to keep the public further away from the celebrities which still doesn’t protect them totally but it would be better than this sort of scenario happening.

    • Alicia says:

Exactly. I dislike Adam Levine but he doesn’t deserve to have this happen to him. The assailant is a jackass.

  3. Toodles45 says:

lmao, hows that for “a little sweetness in your life”

  4. Velvet says:

    Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy….

  5. Kitten says:

Aw, I kinda feel bad for him but LOLOLOL!!!

  6. Lindy79 says:

The article picture has made my week
    THANK YOU

  7. Dani says:

I would throw sugar on him also if I saw that jacket. WTF is that?

  8. Amy says:

See, this is the kind of person who needs to be arrested for a long time.

I just don’t *get* what’s funny or charming about that

“Haha I threw Sugar at Adam Levine. Cause…cause…you get it?”

    Hilarious.

Yeah I’m pretty sure someone like that will do something else fcked up where someone actually gets hurt if he’s willing to throw rocks at celebrities.

  9. Abbott says:

    Velvet beat me to it.

  10. Lori says:

I can’t muster any sympathy for him, and I get that that makes me an assh0le.

    • Naddie says:

I am as well, since I’m laughing hard here. But, I wouldn’t throw sugar at him if I could (just saying).

    • Isabelle says:

Guess us that laughed got to share some of his douche.

  11. FingerBinger says:

Adam Levine is a first class jerk but I don’t find this funny. Why is this guy dumping sugar and throwing rocks at people?

  12. Tiffany says:

I know that assault of any kind is not funny, but damn it was funny that it happened to this douchenozzle.

The only downside is that it sucks for the fans who waited, followed the rules looking to get a photo or autograph.

  13. meme says:

I can’t stand Adam Levine but this is just wrong.

  14. Samtha says:

It’s scary, actually. Sure, it was only sugar this time, but it could have been something worse. With all the crazies out there stalking celebs, I just can’t find this funny.

  15. SypherMomma says:

Sure I laughed, because this time it’s only sugar and Adam Levine is a douche…but I agree with others that this guy needs to be fined heavily or locked up. A strong message probably won’t be sent until something truly awful happens. Being famous definitely has its scary moments.

  16. Ashling says:

At least it was only sugar!

  17. Kara says:

not funny, he could have used other things that could have been seriously dangerous, such things are never ok.

  18. Incognito says:

I enjoy puns, but this isn’t funny. Sure, it’s just sugar but this guy is out there signing autographs for his fans. He doesn’t have to do that. And throwing a rock at the Rock? What if it hit him in the eye? Or what if the guy throwing it hits someone else? It’s jerks like that who ruin it for everyone else. I do feel sorry for Adam in this instance. He was showing up to do his job and he got hassled.

    • darkdove says:

later people complain about celebrities not signing for fans but I woul be afraid to go near a crowd where a jerk can trow something at me.

  19. Louminary says:

“Sorry about the delousing powder, standard procedure”
    “It’s powdered sugar”
    ……………
    “It’s delicious”

  20. Hug me says:

Naaaa I still have no sympathy for him
    LOL

  21. CooCooCatchoo says:

What’s next? Pelting Ms Witherspoon with Reese’s Pieces?

    • Oobejabbawonka says:

Only if I could throw thick pieces of concrete at Robin Thicke. Please? 😛

  22. RobN says:

Somebody coming out of nowhere and hurling something at you must be incredibly scary. I don’t care how big a d-bag you are, it’s a criminal assault and should be treated as such. In that split second, you don’t know if that isn’t acid coming at your face or some crazy pulling a gun.

You wonder why so many celebrities don’t want to shake hands or take pictures with fans? Stuff like this is a big reason.

  23. Oobejabbawonka says:

    Man…first world problems, eh?

  24. Dr.Funkenstein says:

Threw a rock at The Rock? Just shows what a class act Dwayne Johnson really is, because he could have ended this little spree instantly by sending him to the hospital for a while.

  25. Tarsha says:

Did he wear fur or something? What was the reason? Edit: never mind. I saw the answer above.

  26. kri says:

Dammit. I must say, I am torn. But I gotta go with my conscience here. I find him so unbearable. But…if this person had a caustic substance, this would have been horrific. It is definitely assault. I can’t stand Ryan Seacrest either, but I remember a couple years ago when he was reporting on the red carpet, and Sasha Cohen dumped sand all over him. I felt really bad for him. He tried to handle it, but you could see he was upset. I think fame sucks. Money would be great, but weirdos after you all the time-nope, thanks.

    • Amy says:

Yup, the Ryan Seafrest incident grossed me out too.

There’s a lot of people I don’t like in the celeb world but I don’t agree with throwing things at them. That’s bull.

  27. Iheartgossip says:

Not funny. regardless of how you feel about him; this is assault. If it were me; I’d be in jail for whoppin’ that person. Nope.

  28. poppy says:

i can’t stand AL (most celebs actually) and this is just wrong. could have been glitter could have been anthrax could have been water -doesn’t matter. throwing and pouring anything at/on unsuspecting people is barbaric at worst and juvenile at best.
there is nothing good or harmless that could have been used. nobody likes that sort of nasty surprise and wtf aren’t we civilized yet?

  29. morc says:

With acid attacks on the rise this is very scary.
Also I’m reminded of that “reporter” who grabbed Beckham’s junk an remain disappointed he didn’t punch her in the face.

  30. Tammy says:

Nothing funny about this at all..

  31. janine says:

its not that its funny that someone threw sugar at him, but there is always something satisfying about seeing a cocky, “i only date/marry Victoria Secret models”, too cool for school, rich rock start get humiliated. Walking around in his silly sweater on his way to give a faux interview full of rehearsed chit chat on a talk show and someone comes up from behind him and makes him look uncool for a minute. its satisfying.

  32. Lou says:

“Coz it’s powerful, yeah. POWDERED SUGAAAAAAAR!”

Thank you, Medieval Land Fun Time World
