This post is supposed to be about Diane Kruger and her Cannes fashion, but let’s just take a moment to add Matthias Schoenaerts to our permanent-hot list. I talked about him a bit when I was covering the Far From the Madding Crowd press/photos, and he’s really working it this year. Yes, he sort of underdressed for the Cannes photocall for Disorder with Diane – he’s the first dude I’ve seen this year who looks like a lumberjack at Cannes – but still, he’s so hot. Lumberjack hot. Tall and flirty/dirty hot. Unf.
As for Diane… she wore Dolce & Gabbana to the photocall – that’s the little blue dress with the sequins in the shape of a rose. Diane also climbed up on the white box and in doing so, she flashed her drawers for the world’s photographers. I’m hoping it was an honest mistake rather than a ploy to get us to pay attention to her movie! Also: should Joshua Jackson be worried? Because it really seems like Matthias is flirting with Diane and she’s flirting right back.
As for the premiere… Diane wore pale blue Prada. I’m surprised she didn’t go for Chanel, because Chanel is usually her go-to designer for major red carpets. But this… isn’t bad. I don’t hate it at all. It’s revealing without looking trashy. I’m a little bit worried because Joshua Jackson didn’t come to Cannes with her. Be careful, Diane!! Joshua Jackson is a keeper. Matthias is only fun for a night (or several nights of dirty yacht sex).

Definitely beauty is in the eye of beholder. I think she is very pretty as is Angelina but for Helen of Troy beautiful …. I would have to go back to Grace Kelly and some of the older stars.

No, you are not the only one. I was mystified as to how she got the Helen of Troy role out of such a huge casting search. She’s pretty, sure, but far from being the most beautiful woman in the world, she wasn’t even the most beautiful woman in that film!
It also didn’t help that her acting was wooden and she had zero screen presence. Helen of Troy should be a show stopper, oozing sex appeal and charisma. Diane is just kind of bland.

Agree, she looks gorgeous but better with less make up. She’s on the cover of French-edition Grazia this week, and they caked on the make up on her & made her look 50+. She’s something of a Marlene Dietrich type for better or worse.

I love The short dress. Diane is beautiful and natural but she lacks charisma, a bit too bland for my taste. Flashing her underwear is not her style, she is too classy for that sort of thing.

They seemed very flirty at the photocall and then she looked really tense at the carpet–at least in the photos I saw. Probably nothing. Folks don’t always have to smile like the Joker.
Yes… I thought they were a bit flirty too. Especially when he picked her up and put her on the podium; she had a bit of a flash of her underwear. I was surprised Josh was not with her. He usually goes to Cannes with her. She probably had fun working with the guy and they got to be friends.
She does look very tense. Maybe just tired or something, but I do agree that her body language and face read very uptight.
I watched a clip of them walking the red carpet and I thought the exact same thing: a lot of flirting going on!! She shouldn’t risk her relationship for Matthias though, so I hope they’re just bringing it to promote the movie. BTW body language in the bottom picture: the dude on the right isn’t getting a lot of love:)
I’m too lazy to check for videos or pictures, but wasn’t there a lot of flirting too with Cotillard a couple of years ago for the Rust and Bone red carpet and photocall? I remember it that way.

I tend to match my undergarments to my outfit. I never flash. It’s just a quirk/habit.

Nope, they broke up end of April and he’s already been spotted with another brunette this week in Antwerp (lol at Antwerp though, they are very gossipy, I love it).
I kind of like that he sticks with Belgium, he could easily have a ‘Hollwood’ relationship. It would certainly boosts his visibility and career but he’s sooo private. He was dating his ex for two years before he came out with it in public and they broke up quietly too. I think he knows how to court the gossip a bit to promote a movie but in private he doesn’t deal with that bullshit.
That said, I’m over him because he was talking about Mike Tyson essentially saying he was misunderstood and glossing over his violent tendencies so my boner for him is thoroughly gone and burried.

Yeah, so glad Matthias is getting some coverage on this blog. I totally agree with that Mike Tyson thing. What the–? He’s a bit of a hippy-jock-meathead in his interviews, but my, what an actor. He can do anything, trust me. Sensitive European hunk in A Little Chaos (very cute film) and brawny in Rust and Bone. Love him for the acting if not the interviews.

Well that article is a big Huh? Josh has always talked about wanting kids and they talked about kids in an interview a couple of weeks ago at a Showtime event. Diane has worked nearly nonstop for the last year. She’s signed up for another movie as well. Josh is in the Affair with Ruth Wilson who I follow and they started production on season 2 last week. So, if Josh isn’t there, it’s probably because of location/filming work on the Affair.
Yes, but he is in NYC because that’s where they do filming/production for the Affair. They started on Wednesday. Last season they did filming on some weekends and we are not privy to what his shooting schedule is. It’s a lot to fly to Nice and back again if he has shooting on Monday and if they also go off on location, where they do filming a couple of hours out of NYC.
He seems to be a big supporter of her, so if he’s not there, it’s probably because he has a reason not to be.
Who knows about the kids, only they really know what’s going on there.
I actually love the mini dress (it seems like shorter dresses are more her style-I feel like I’ve seen her in those more often) more than the formal gown. Not because it isn’t nice, but it seems like most of the gowns so far have been a palette of odd, washed out, kind of flat colors that I don’t feel like really does anyone justice. I remember that was the scene at the Oscars in recent years-lots of taupe, powdered periwinkle and rose, beige. Boring.
Her outfit is very Carrie-Bradshaw-esque. It’s okay, but relies on gimmickry. I will say that I’m glad it’s a sparkly applique on the dress and not a madhatter original. I think I would have liked the rose better in a complementary color of the blue.

I don’t how many people here have experience working closely with guys (plural or singular) for an extended period of time, but it’s pretty natural in my experience to develop friendships that might seem flirty or even sexual to some people. The male-female dynamic is complicated by all matter of things, including society’s need to sexualize every touch or glance. Here, it doesn’t necessarily mean that DK’s stepping out, has stepped out, or intends to step out on JJ. She might have just developed a friendship with the guy, both are touchy-feely by nature, etc.
About that permanent hot-list addition – so many people write about him like he is the sexiest, hottest guy ever but I don’t see it at all. I’m not attracted to many of the guys that are considered super hot and are on those lists, but I can always recognize why they would – there’s something unique about them. But with Schoenaers I’m baffled. He is definitely not ugly, far from it but he has such a regular, forgettable face. I see guys looking like variations of him all the time, everywhere. Such familiar features. A male version of a typical pretty, blond, vanilla VS angel, whose face no one can remember because she looks like every other blond, vanilla VS angel.

I always like her better when she doesn’t have her model face on–she’s so much more animated when she’s smiling and laughing with friends–to me that’s when she really lights up so gorgeously.
She looks sad, and something is up.
