Being a shunned, out of work actor doesn’t pay nearly as well as you’d think. Just ask Isaiah Washington. The “Grey’s Anatomy” pariah is five months late on his rent. That’s pretty extreme as it is, but to make matters worse, Washington’s rent is $20,000 a month. That’s right, he owes a hundred Gs in back rent, and his landlord has filed eviction papers against him and his wife to boot them from the Los Angeles-area home.
In unlawful detainer papers filed on March 24, the actor’s former landlord claims Washington is five months behind in rental payments totaling to $100,000. Washington and his wife Jenisa were recently served with a “3-day notice to pay rent or quit”, which basically means they have to evacuate the premises if they do not make the payments up.
The property in question is worth nearly three and a half million dollars and carries a hefty $20,000 a month rental fee. Washington’s original lease agreement, which started in April of 2008, included an option to buy.
The property management company is requesting the couple: “past-due rent of $100,000, reasonable attorney fees, forfeiture of the agreement, damages at the rate stated in item 11 [$3,333 per day] for each day the defendants remain in possession through entry of judgment.”

First question is, if you could ever afford $20,000 a month in rent, why are you renting at all? Talk about a poor investment decision. Isaiah Washington is just full of bad choices all around. To make matters worse, his wife and three kids also live in the home. I’m sure he’s got some backup option and a place to go, but what an unfortunate situation to put your family in. When I hear about people that can’t afford their rent, my heart goes out to them. But when you choose to sign a $20,000 a month lease, and you’re an out of work actor who nobody likes anymore… well it’s hard to have as much empathy in that situation. Did he think the job offers were about to start rolling in?

Wow.
I think “poor investment” is an understatement.
He’s like LiLo but you know, with a family.
I really liked him in Spike Lee’s movie Get On the Bus. Though I’ve never seen his TV work, it’s too bad he’s homophobic and violent(strangling your co-star is not cool).
What an A HOLE.. how ironic, all of the “fa****” he talks about have money and can pay their mortgage.. maybe that is why he is so jealous, homophoibic creep !!!!!!!!!
AHOLE !!!!!!!!
Boo Hoo
I am amazed at how celebrities spend their money. $20,000 to RENT? even if they do buy houses that are million $$$ home you think they would be energy self sustaining as in having their own electricity, water source but no they pay $$$ to the maintence of a moneypit
Every now and then, there are times like these, upon hearing about folks forking over $20K rent per month, that I’m real glad I live in Alabama. May not be as exciting as Isaiah’s neighborhood, but I have a lovely view and am mere minutes from my horses.
I liked Isaiah in “Grey’s Anatomy.” Then I heard about his homophobia and his anger issues, and he started to remind me of Mister Turd-for-Brains, my ex-husband.
I wish him the best. I am a fan, but it was a bad investment
One bad act can lead to an avalanche of misfortune.
What an asshole. That is so rude. Pay your damn rent! Who do you think you are?
Hey, cool tips. I’ll buy a glass of beer to the person from that forum who told me to visit your site 🙂
