Duchess Kate wears red LK Bennett to Wimbledon: cute or boring?

139788PCN_Royals15

This was announced a few days ago – Prince William and Duchess Kate made a rare public outing in London today to attend a semifinals match at Wimbledon. The match was Andy Murray vs. Vasek Pospisil. Murray is a very popular figure in the UK – the Scotsman has won some Grand Slams, including Wimbledon in 2013. It makes sense that out of all the players, Will and Kate would want to be seen supporting Murray in particular (although the Middletons are reportedly much bigger fans of Roger Federer).

Kate was showing off a new dress and a new hairstyle today. The dress is LK Bennett, part of the Autumn 2015 collection. The dress has a name too – it’s called the Cayla. It costs £250. As for the hairstyle – apparently, Kate has new highlights, but her hair really doesn’t look that different to me. Her hair looks sleek and there are no sausage curls, so that makes me happy.

Yesterday, William was in London to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the 7/7 bombings. William made an appearance at the Hyde Park memorial and he spent time embracing survivors and listening to their stories. It was a good thing for him to do, and reportedly William volunteered for the appearance. I kind of wonder why Kate didn’t come with him? She can take time away from the kids to see Andy Murray play but not to meet with survivors of a terrorist attack?

Meanwhile, there are already rumors/bet happening about Will & Kate possibly having a third child. Sources close to Kate have insisted for months now that Kate didn’t want to stop at an heir and a spare, that she wants a third child because she comes from a family of three. Anyway, the British bookies are already taking bets on when the third announcement will come – many believe Kate will get preggo next year. Sure. I’ll believe that.

I bought that dress at TJ Maxx ten years ago.

  2. wendi says:

    This is work, right?

    • MinnFinn says:

Rebecca Deacon, Kate’s admin is with them so I assume this is work.

      • COSquared says:

It isn’t for everyone except the Duke of Kent. He is the patron, not WK as their sugary tabloids like to wish/claim.

      • Natalie says:

I wonder if Kate’s lack of work means Rebecca has an easier job or a more difficult one. Kate strikes me as very high maintenance behind the scenes but on the other hand, she doesn’t do very much.

And the Duke of Kent probably shouldn’t go down any dark alleys with K and W or the Middletons. Kate would probably love to be patron.

      • Subconciously says:

If one explained to Kate that being a patron of tennis tournaments involved other things than just sitting and watching she wouldn’t want it any more.
But then when have explanations ever worked on Kate?

      • Natalie says:

Well, William doesn’t show up to his BAFTA responsibilities so I’m sure Kate could “modernize” being a patron. I’ve decided that’s my catch-all explanation for them now.

    • capepopsie says:

Of course it is. That´s why I´m wearing a tie!

    • Jules says:

For them it is. They will be announcing their next holiday now. They must be exhausted.

    • notasugarhere says:

It isn’t listed in the Royal Diary for them, but Duke of Kent being there is listed. It shouldn’t be counted as work for them.

      • FLORC says:

        Nota
A few publications arre actually calling this a date and personal time to get away from work. Counting this more as a leisure activity than work.
Grouping the Cambridges in with all the other royals and celebs who are there for leisure time as well. Crazy right?

      • MinnFinn says:

DailyMail has photos of Rebecca Deacon and a male employee trailing behind the Cambridges. When RD is present, isn’t it typically counted as “work” for Kate?

      • FLORC says:

        MinnFinn
Deacon is there because it is counting as work for her.

I do wonder what qualifies “work” with Kate. Does she have to make small talk for a length of time? Be at a location for x amount of time? Greet x amount of people? Have photos taken? This tennis match would be a length of time so it would count.
Because it’s very little to do with meeting and showing support of the people or working with her charities.

    • Nancy says:

I am sick of them both. He’s a lazy, spoiled whiner and she’s a selfish, entitled brat. Shame on both of them for going to Wimbledon, and she couldn’t get to a Memorial service. If I were British, I’d be beyond pissed.

      • candice says:

Attending Wimbledon is a PERK – not WORK! Shame on them for implying it’s an obligation that they should be thanked for

  3. HH says:

I’ve actually been getting into dresses and skirts of that length. It’s not so good because I’m shorter, but I like the look of them with a good pointed toe heel.

  4. Cee says:

If they can leave their children at home for tennis they certainly can resume (and increase) their Royal Duties instead of using maternal leave as an excuse. They can definitely perform 2 hours of Royal Duties a day!

They’re extremely lazy, and this has become an issue.

    • notasugarhere says:

IMO, they’re extremely lazy, and this has ALWAYS been an issue.

    • teacakes (formerly oneshot) says:

it’s ridiculous that his grandparents do more work than 33 year old William and Kate. A LOT more work! If they had any shame they would at least spare them the physical strain of those duties by sharing that burden, but no. Renovating houses is more fun.

  5. canadiangirl says:

    Zzz

  6. Beth No. 2 says:

It’s a simple dress, but I love that shade of tomato red and it goes well with her hair colour.

  7. Audrey says:

The close ups are hilarious. I’m so glad i don’t get photographed while watching sports. The pictures would be a lot scarier lol

    • I saw a couple of photos in the Daily Mail where Kate was playing with her hair. She actually looked like it put her in a trance. I don’t think she could function with out it. For her, it seems like a little child’s “blankie.”

    • Kiki04 says:

      I’m glad I don’t either……I tend to get a little “swear happy” when I watch football 🙂

  8. Alex says:

Kate looks good here…relaxed and pretty. If she does have a third child hopefully she waits a year. Pregnancy seems really hard on her and having 3 under 3 is difficult (even with help). Anyways I can see them wanting more kids regardless.

  9. ncboudicca says:

The dress needs a necklace or even a scarf, otherwise I like the color for her.

    • GingerCrunch says:

Thank you! That dress is screaming for a beautiful necklace. If I were her I’d be promoting the sh!t out of British jewelry designers. No Stella & Dot allowed (or whatever the UK equivalent is).

    • Tough Cookie says:

I agree but accessories would be lost under that awful hair so why bother.

      • GingerCrunch says:

Ya know, on second look I thought the same thing. The hair’s the thing with her, isn’t it?

      • Deedee says:

So much hair. Looks like the extensions are back in. And it all gets pushed onto her shoulders so there’s only the one little section going down her back. How heavy is that? And she’s back to stroking it like a pet.

      • Becks says:

There’s one picture where she is leaning forward and all her hair is swinging forward, obscuring her neck, making it look as if she has a floating head.

  10. Lindy79 says:

At least they look animated by the match. I hate celebs who go to these kinds of things just to be seen and sit there stone faced.

  11. Claire says:

I don’t want to sound bitchy or something but I think she should remain at this weight (post child and not stick thin) because she looks lovely and happy. I adore her hair.

  12. COSquared says:

The christening was counted as work,of course. Why am I not surprised? Again, these 2 are fit to “work”. Clearly the “hands-on” parents are able to attend Wim. & can tea w/ celebs but can’t visit the (few) charities they patronizing.

  13. COSquared says:

The christening was counted as work,of course. Why am I not surprised? Again, these 2 are fit to “work”. Clearly the “hands-on” parents are able to attend Wim. & can tea w/ celebs but can’t visit the (few) charities they patronize.

  14. Sixer says:

I think they brought the rain, the bastids. Thus sending me hurtling back to BBC1 to howl at the budget commentary. Wish I hadn’t rushed through work this morning now. Meh.

RAIN RAIN GO AWAY COME AGAIN ANOTHER DAY. Bring back Andy and save my sanity!

    • Lindy79 says:

Oooh. Our budget day is Oct, weather much more suited to yet another crappy budget. God Speed Sixer.

    • frisbeejada says:

Have you seen the Guardian today about government grants given to huge Corporations (14 billion -2 more than the cash to be shaved off the Welfare bill) and the corresponding Tax they fail to pay? I’m grinding my teeth so hard lately I’m going to need a tooth guard – or a set of falsies. Anyway, thought of you and your hay fever – another tip – put petroleum jelly up your nose to catch the pollen particles.

    • Sixer says:

Lindy – we’re having an “emergency” budget – presumably because the last government, which is basically the same party as the current government, left the country in such a mess. You couldn’t make it up, could you?

Frisbeejada – sad to say, yes. The one that’s getting me is the rebranding of Minimum Wage to Living Wage, even though it will be LESS than the current campaign for Living Wage says is needed and even though the current Living Wage includes tax credits, which they’ve cut so the amount will need to be even higher. Way to divert attention from low pay, Gideon, you bloody arsewipe. Take note, American $15 campaigners. These politicos know how to shaft you.

Back to the BRF (sorry to be off topic, Kaiser) – um… um… um… Billy smells of cat’s wee? Best I can come up with!

    • frisbeejada says:

The BRF yes, right, well, look on the bright side the more they c*ck up the faster we move towards a Republic and for those who would like to live in a mature, egalitarian society (if there is such a thing and I’m seriously beginning to doubt it) that’s a good thing…and yes Billy definitely smells of Tom cat’s wee wee….

      • FLORC says:

That’s awful what is happening. Truly amazing it’s being done.
My heart goes out to those paying the price for this abuse of power.

      • frisbeejada says:

Yes and me but then I work in Social Care and see the horror of it up close and personal…

      • Anne tommy says:

Bad things- royalty, Tories, roger federer
        Come on Andy…

      • Sixer says:

Well, guys, I did the post-Budget calculator. My family will be £256 a year better off after it. My allotment friend also did the post-Budget calculator. Her family will be £1,233 a year worse off after it.

But my family has twice the household income of my allotment friend. I have no housing costs. My allotment friend has a mortgage to pay. (She is a single mum of two with a full-time job. Her deadbeat ex has run off to Spain with his new girlf and doesn’t pay any child support).

How the hell is that fair? I get money I don’t need. She gets pushed close to the breadline.

  15. perplexed says:

She has a pretty face and nice figure, but, man, that eyeliner…

    • XiuFetish says:

      I’m sure it’s permanent.

      • Becks says:

I also felt sure it was permanent until others pointed out that there are pictures where you can see it’s drawn on differently from time to time (inside or outside the water line, etc).
Personally, I can’t tell one way or the other. I just thought it’s permanently drawn on because I couldn’t see anyone choosing every day, for every occasion, no matter how formal or not, to draw it on so dark. And she outlines it from tip to tip, all the way to the inner tear duct!

If it’s not permanently drawn on, I would think the more delicate skin around her eyes would suffer from the daily cleansing. The skin around that area supposedly has thinner skin and her daily wiping once and drawing on of heavy makeup should lead to more wrinkles, no?

  16. Dena says:

Anyone else noticing the complete lack of movement between the eyebrows in those pics? (The 11’s, in Botox terminology). I’m thinking she’s made time for Botox since giving birth.

    • FLORC says:

      Dena
There’s loads of movement. It’s a big tip off too that she might be trying for a 3rd.
If she wasn’t she’d be back on botox as history has taught us.

      • LAK says:

She’s definitely has 11 application between her brows.

Rest of forehead is still natural.

      • FLORC says:

        LAK
It’s the forehead i’ve zoned in on. My experience with botox is far from that many applications in 1 tiny spot.
So… my baby #3 theory has a hole in it…

It is nice to see Kate more natural and at a healthy. Extra hair and botox aside.

      • nic919 says:

Kate is going to wait a year before trying for number 3… so she could easily be doing Botox now during the wait period. I also think that she will have a third kid because it will provide her with more reasons to delay a full schedule as compared to her in-laws.

  17. Sarah says:

Isn’t that Sophie, Countess of Wessex, next to William? She looks good. As for Kate’s hair, I think I would have worn it up. Hot day sitting in the sun. The color suits her and I like the dress. It just doesn’t look royally special – like something I might buy when out shopping.

    • Lucretia says:

Yes! I only came to comment on Sophie — more Sophie, please! She seems like she might actually be interesting.

      • Liberty says:

+ 1 Team “Sophie Does Work And Has Thoughts, So More Her”

      • wolfie says:

Thoughts would suffice, at this point…though it will never happen. Diana broke huge silence with Her True Story. Carole reads Diana’s playbook, however, I believe that Kate is firmly ensconced as a quiet royal mum. She might as well have a sock in her mouth. Her story is merely that – Jason’s imagination, and how he thinks that we might connect. This has nothing to do with Kate – she is getting used being photographed. Diana, at least, tried to overcome her shyness. Diana’s aspirations were so much higher.

She does look well, and happy. I guess that we would be too, with luxury, at least that is Jason’s song.

  18. wow says:

The dress is blah to me. Nothing special. It stands out only because of the color. No shade. I also can see them wanting more children and having a few more. They’re still young and Kate seems to enjoy being a mom.

    Sophie looks nice.

  19. Jaded says:

Wayyyyy too much hair. It just overpowers everything. She’d look great with a shoulder length cut with some feathering around the face.

    • Katie says:

Good call! I’ve been trying to put my finger on what was off about her look but it’s definitely the hair.

  20. The Original Mia says:

If they can go to Wimbledon, they can go to their charities.

    • LadyoftheLoch says:

      This.

    • FLORC says:

Pretty much. I wonder how her charities feel. Priorities…

    • notasugarhere says:

Apparently Place2Be held a Jungle in the Park fund raiser a few days ago. Raised £30,000 without any help from their royal patron.

      • FLORC says:

        Nota
Some of the comments on that fundraiser was no one reached out to Kate’s office for it. It was summed they knew she wasn’t going to go so they didn’t bother to ask. And I wouldn’t really shade her for not. It was a fun party. They didn’t need a formal aspect to it. I will shade her for having little to nothing to do with them.

      • anne_000 says:

        @ FLORC

I would understand if she wasn’t able to keep up with the current events of her charities if she had 100s to watch over. But for the very few (handful?) she does have, and her part is to make sure they get more funding, how does she nor her staff not know when one of her few charities is having a fund raiser?

They can’t pick up the phone and ask? They can’t ask the charity to send them news of such events?

I put the onus on Kate and her staff to know these things, because they’re the ones who should have requested from her charities up-to-date info on the one thing for which Kate is their patroness, fundraising. For Kate and her staff not to keep up on what her charities do, it seems to me as if it’s a reflection of her disinterest. And if the charity doesn’t even want to apprise her of such fundraising events, then it’s very telling, imo.

I think Kate could have showed her face for even the usual 30-45 minutes she does or even 20 minutes. Just show her face, shake a few hands, thank the donors, then beg off and leave. Or she could have donated objects for an auction or raffle. Or she could have sent one of the typed letters her staff writes for her. Or she could have done a multitude of things to help get the charity even a portion of that 30k they did raise.

      • LadyoftheLoch says:

God, how bloody embarrassing (for her). She obviously doesn’t give a rat’s behind though. Let those troubled inner city children eat cake!
        Grrrrrrr!

Edit: Just saw FLORC’s and Anne’s comments. Even if Kate wasn’t formally expected to attend, she could have dropped in, shown her face, said hello to the kids, something to show her support. A little can go a very long way.

      • notasugarhere says:

One of the 27 office staff could have sent a tweet encouraging people to sign up, wishing them well, hoping they’d have a great time at the party, etc.

Maybe Place2Be is happy to make the point, publicly, that they don’t need her. I’m waiting for her handful of charities to start dropping her as patron.

      • FLORC says:

        Anne/LOTL

Remember the last (only?) charity auction Kate donated to? That didn’t go over so well.

I would still give Kate a full pass on not showing up to this IF she attended anything else of theirs or did something that looked like she actually put effort in.
I wonder how much contact her office and the charities actually have? I remember Sunflower on DM stating how her office had to call up the charity she worked for and request an event for Kate. Making note Kate would cancel on most of those visits last minute.
Yachts and Tennis are fun. If Kate and William are doing anything other than handshakes and spectating this could be work.

      • anne_000 says:

        @ notasugarhere

But expecting Kate to work by having her office staff tweet even a single post would be akin to work and that would be hugely unfair to ask her to come out of her (one-year?) maternity leave. It could be detrimental to her physical and emotional health and might even break the bonds she’s creating with her children during this oh so critical time in their lives.

Why should people expect Kate to work when they wouldn’t ask other working mothers on maternity leave to do the same things? Really, you people are so mean.

        (end sarcasm)

      • anne_000 says:

        @ FLORC

Considering her office staff isn’t pay-as-you-go and doesn’t seem to be harassed into over-working because their boss is over-worked, Kate could have had someone on her staff keep up with news from the charities, especially fundraisers. Surely her charities use social media and one of her staff could have glanced at them from time to time.

And so even if the charities don’t invite her to every event and as you mentioned, she isn’t willing to attend, even canceling her visits numerous times, she could have instructed her staff to support the charities through her own social media posts or sent them items to help make them money during the fundraisers.

There are ways she could be pro-active without her lifting even one finger, but putting that responsibility on her staff. That is, if she ever had it in her to use her brain cells to think about anything for her charities.

      • Dena says:

I’ve said this one before and I’ll say it again, from a PR perspective, why not just seek out charities and non-profits to align WK with that do stuff with babies and sports and even the arts. Why? Cause the PR team would have a much easier time spinning scripts as to why their clients can get off of their collective asses to attend a professional tennis match or to meet celebs in contrast to doing much of anything else. The baby angle comes in because it seems to me that wiggling a baby or a placing a toddler in front of people just wipes the slate clean. And, of course, WK now have two children.

        ********************
Has anyone seen photos of Prince Charles interacting with George or even cooing over Charlotte at the christening? I haven’t.
        ********************
It’s now going to sound as if I’m contradicting myself but it was good to see coverage of William at a 7/7 memorial.

BTW: There seems to 2 Dena’s posting on the board.

      • FLORC says:

        Anne
I’m with you. A random tweet or video message or letter or short visit. They Go Far! How nothing is done makes me think Kate wants it that way. She can’t be bothered.
Apathy imo is horrible. More for a person with her platform.

        Dena
There are photos of Charles and Harry being very cute with George. And George appears extremely comfortable with both of them. He wouldn’t be THAT comfortable without interaction imo.
H&C both played with George at the polo match. Mostly in a tent away from cameras. It’s also long been stated the BRF are to conduct themselves 1 way in public and can be themselves in private. That may not give the softest impression to us in the cheap seats, but it doesn’t mean they don’t do it.

To add. The PR image is everything. That’s why we don’t see these photos. Or of Kate being a good mother to George and explaining why he’s in trouble for hitting another child with his toy car. Instead we get a spun version. Or George being super adorable with Harry.

    • anne_000 says:

But… but… but…. as W&K’s maternity/paternity-leave supporters would say, work takes away from bonding time with the kids, but fun-time away from the kids is necessary to give W&K some healthy me-time.

Anyhoo, in a DM article about W&K’s attendance to Wimbledon, it has a video of W&K doing meet-and-greets with officials/execs at the entry after getting out of their car. Just like the kind of thing they would do if and when they visit charities/hospitals, memorial events, etc.. But they can’t do that right now for work, because it’s just so detrimental to family time.

      • LadyoftheLoch says:

Nota, FLORC, Anne: Her charities don’t deserve her. She’s a slipshod, workshy, vain, clueless ninny. They clearly deserve someone more dedicated, focused, switched-on and caring. Someone like Harry. I can’t think of a female equivalent for Harry, and Sophie’s too busy with all her other stuff.

I agree with you Nota. They ought to publicly dump her lazy arse.

      • FLORC says:

        LOTL
Remember when 1 of her charitiies had to cancel a charity auction from lack of interest? Kate was doing nothing at the time. She donated what looked like a reject gift of gifts she couldn’t even keep, but might have anyways. Nothing to make it special though.
It was noted the charity grumbled about dropping her as a patron, but the courtiers might have had to smooth some feathers as the charity was mad enough to want to ditch Kate entirely. This was during the same time she was said to be making private chairty visits and this charity clearly wasn’t seing her.
And the way Sunflower talks it appears like she treats her charities more as a burden on her time.

        Harry/Jolie 😉

      • Dena says:

I am in no way an apologist or a defender of WK and this has probably been said before but I don’t think Kate was raised to think of volunteer work or charitable endeavors as a worthwhile use of one’s time. Many people don’t. As a matter of fact, as a social climbing family, I am almost sure that if doing volunteer/charity work or some sort of fundraising for a worthy cause wasn’t seen as a point of entry into a certain social set then the notion didn’t even enter her orbit. I would also hazard another guess to say that while not universal to the group but as social climbing business owning strivers the family probably looks down on the less fortunate. “I got mine; you get yours. Wot. Give away my hard earned money to spongers?” So, if it’s not tied to self-promotion it’s not a worthy endeavor. I will even go so far to suggest that part of the reason Pippa & James are seen at charitable events nowadays is partly self-promotion & networking, partly to soften the social climbing face (the Middleton brand) & partly because in breaking out of their insular little world they are realizing that posh volunteerism is what the upper classes do–if not in deed then in form (and with the latter two being new knowledge to them).

Re: Big Willy, I think he sees it all as a big joke. Not in the he-he-he funny way but in the this is some made up BS kind of way, i.e., ribbon cutting & plaque unveilings. Not to give him too much credit though because what he fails to see, I think, is the importance those things hold to the people who keep his family in kitchen renovations & tennis court remodeling. So, like Kate, I don’t think he grew with an appreciation for volunteer or charity work either. They both should have been doing it for self-promotion but only for different reasons.

      • notasugarhere says:

It does not matter if she was raised not to give a rat’s a$$. The second she slid Big Blue on her finger, she accepted a job.

William was raised in family where they are required to work for charity, that is their role among other things. I think you’re right, he thinks it is all a joke and does not realize that to the people paying his bills, the ribbon cutting is important.

If they’re going to decide the job is unimportant, they have to give back the salary (RPOs, mansions, their portion of the $4.6 million a year) and step aside.

      • Dena says:

Now Nota, you know better. Those two don’t have a leg to stand on with me. I’ve always maintained that Kate may be a good choice for William as a man but she’s not one for the role she will need to go on and play. She simply hasn’t shown that she has what it takes. Then, of course, there is William who is a petulant over-privileged puss. He’s had enough time to come to grips with his role & his role is not in a an airborne ambulance.

I am simply searching for reasons (not excuses) for why these two over-privileged 32+ year-olds can’t buy a vowel let alone a clue.

        Big Blue. I love it.

In truth, Big Willy has much more in common with his father than he may want to admit. Where Camillia seems to complement Charles, adding a layer of stability to his life, Kate seems to enable Willy. They both need a certain type of woman. Only Charles seems to have hit the lottery.

      • wolfie says:

Dena, I loved your comments. However, I don’t think that Charles hit the lottery – I think that he learned his lesson!

      • LadyoftheLoch says:

FLORC, Jolie would be the bomb dot com of course, but I was thinking more along the lines of a female royal. Beatrice and Eugenie seem keen to do their part, but have been edged out in Charles’ vision of a pared down RF. Autumn Phillips seems like a good egg, but we really don’t hear much about her. I can’t wait until Harry marries someone who totally raises the bar and puts Kate in the corner of shame where she belongs.

I don’t remember the details of the charity auction. Didn’t she donate some Scandinavian baby layette thing which was discovered to have been a freebie gift to her, or was it something else?

And I do wish her neglected charities would ignore all the soothing courtier noises and just dump her. She needs to understand that being patron of a charity – especially a children’s charity – involves far more than simply having her name on the letterheads.

      • LadyoftheLoch says:

Dena: I think you hit the nail on the head nicely there. The Middletons are Johnny-come-latelies in terms of charity endeavours. They do it for show, to raise their social profile, and they do it clumsily because they have a cliched idea of how to go about things and because they lack heart. Imo.

      • notasugarhere says:

Lady, I think there were two charity auctions. One was the baby gift basket that was a freebie that her staffed passed on. No note or anything. The other was going to be a used clothing and accessories charity auction, which was cancelled for lack of support.

  21. Charlotte says:

Are those dark brown stockings? In july?

  22. Cupcake says:

I dislike the dress, frumpy I think.

Also, her face looks a bit more haggard than it did at the christening.

If they do want a third, I hope they wait a couple of years. Two under two is rough and when you have HG it’s hard to care for little ones. What’s the rush?

  23. LadyoftheLoch says:

Perfect for a casual day dress around Christmas at Sandringham, but why would she opt for this at a summer event when she could have gone for something much more comfortable and appropriate to the season? A knee-length silk wrap dress, say, or a floatier, more feminine version of the same dress in a lighter palette. Red suits her, but she stands out like a sore thumb in these pics. Perhaps that was the whole point? To be seen.

“Look at meeeee, I’m on tee-veeeee!”

    • Olenna says:

Ha! Totally believe the red was a deliberate attention getter. I guess she doesn’t realize that her massive head of hair is so distracting she could’ve worn neon green and *Cousin It* would still be the first thing most people notice.

  24. aquarius64 says:

Kate has time for a tennis match but the FUTURE QUEEN has no time for the commemoration of the 7/7 bombings? I’ve seen the excuses – only people of a certain military rank, honorary or not, need to go. Big fail. As the wife of a future head of state she should have been there.

    • LadyoftheLoch says:

aquarius: Shows a disgusting lack of concern or empathy. Probably spent hours at the salon instead, prepping for today’s appearance. She really needs to get a clue.

      • FLORC says:

        LOTL
That’s silly. The salon likely came to her with her personal stylists always on call.
It’s important to show the people you care and you support. Even if you don’t just show up. It means a lot to them. Especially survivors of tragedies.
If nothing else how about a letter. Come on Jason. You’ve been doing so well!

      • LadyoftheLoch says:

FLORC: True, that. Silly me. Why would she need to schlepp to the salon when the primping posse can visit her at Apt. 1A instead? Chauffeur driven dark sedan of course.

      • Betti says:

Considering today’s appearance and how the press and making a big deal out of her new ‘do’ – she’s clearly been spending her time on personal grooming rather than on her duties as a future Queen. Now that she has a housekeeper and a nanny and other helpers for her kids she now has the time to focus on herself and obsessing over Diana and Willy.

    • daisy says:

Completely no work ethic at all LAZY LAZY can go to tennis but not any royal engagements and we all think they have brought the monarchy into a fashion show and they hve no substance its so disgraceful that they hve not done anything significant … Waity is a disgraceful person living off public taxpayers money with all the staff they have running after them… plus moving a tennis court 23ft.. absolute farce
The courtiers should really sort this debarcle out with the two Lazies…
i read an article abt other people saying how disgraceful the situation had become with the reality show the middashions had brought on to the royals .
they have brought shame on the family with their antics

The restriction about Honorary Air Commodores on the balcony, if true, is for the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain fly-over on Friday. She was free to attend the 7/7 event and didn’t.

    • Deedee says:

Oh, give her a break. You know how long it takes to get that extra hair added in just right?

    • Jib says:

I cannot believe how clueless they, and their PR guy, are. To skip the 7/7 memorial, and go to Wimbledon the next day? Are they insane?

I was reading the comments in the Daily mail, and there wasn’t one positive comment for these two clowns. People were angry that they counted the Christening as an official function, they counted Wimbledon, but she couldn’t get her entitled butt to a memorial.

      • Betti says:

To be fair Willy went to the memorial on his own – he at least made the effort. She on the other hand – well its becoming blatantly obvious she doesn’t want to do anything and only turns up when made to (or if its something that genuinely interests her like tennis or meeting celebs).

As a UK citizen i am NOT happy with the thought of that vacuous, vain woman representing me to the world and that she will one day be Queen.

  25. Betti says:

No surprise – them attending Wimbledon was always a given and they seem to have a habit of only attending in the 2nd week. I agree with Kaiser – she can attend Wimbledon but can’t make an appearance to remember those who died in a terrorist attack (thou she may have turned up wearing that ‘look at me dress’ like she did with the bright pink coat for her visit to the twin towers so maybe its a good thing she didn’t go). While Willy may make an effort (and he will have to at some point) she will carry on as she always has and yes she will def have another – get out of during actual work!

This is now a major issue and embarrassment for the BRF – TQ needs to step in and give them a kick up the butt.

She and her family are really playing the press and the people – they are trying to create this image that Kate is another Diana – she aint and never will be.

    • BearcatLawyer says:

Agreed. Diana visited AIDS patients in their hospital rooms and shook hands with them at a time when most people would not have gone within 100 feet of an AIDS sufferer. Diana also walked through a field of land mines wearing little more than a face shield to advocate for land mine removal. Say what you will about her (and there is a lot that can be said about her manipulation of the public and the press), but Diana did her job for the Firm.

Will and Kate are the future King and Queen. Their future roles will not revolve solely around hosting garden parties, doling out honours, and cheering for UK athletes at the Olympics or Wimbledon. Whether they like it or not, they do not get to be regular people with 9 to 5 jobs. The more they shirk official engagements and neglect the charities of which they are supposed to be patrons NOW – when they are young and in the prime of their lives – the harder it will be for them to maintain the affection and goodwill that the Queen (and her mother before her) long enjoyed when they are older.

      • notasugarhere says:

Photoshopped official photos from the christening should arrive any second.

    • Liberty says:

At this point, I don’t know what more she can do to reveal her true character to the UK public unless she shows up in an “It’s True, I Don’t Care About Anything” t-shirt.

      • Betti says:

She does have things she cares about: shopping, redecorating, the gym personal grooming and Willy (her greatest obsession).

  26. wolfie says:

Money spent both glamorizes and insulates her: the British royal family is tone deaf. That they are authorized to live in lavish fashion, seems to be exactly what they want us to understand.

  27. Citresse says:

I suspect Kate will be pregnant again by the end of August 2015. She’s been advised of risks after age 32, so Charlotte and new baby 2016 will be Irish twins.
But time will tell for sure.

    • FLORC says:

Risks for pregnancy do increase slightly year by year then grow faster past a certain age. 35,36, and 40 are the ages most noted.
Did you mean to type 32?
Even that article claiming sources said Kate wants 3 babies stated she wants to have her 3rd before 35.

      • Citresse says:

Yes, there are MDs who use 32 as age to start pre-natal testing (Down’s etc) for serious birth defects but usually those MDs are super concerned over liabilities and want to protect themselves. 32 is still relatively young.

      • FLORC says:

        Citresse
I know some that stress you are going into murky waters if you carry into your 30’s. Prenatal testing though. That’s fairly standard now.
Some might make it standard and not suggested to start testing all at age 32 and forward, but anyone can request a test.
Just covering this so some don’t read it like 32 is the number where the chance for a defect spikes.

I went back to the articles. It’s 35 the sources claim. And for ease of conception.

      • nic919 says:

I have worked with many women who only started having kids in the early 30s and there were zero issues. And since she has already had two kids, she has gotten the ball rolling so to speak. Not letting her body fully recover from pregnancy would be a bigger issue as they recommend one year between pregnancies at least.

  28. crystalball says:

Her hair looks like a heavy wig!

  29. notasugarhere says:

Kaiser, we can always tell how you really feel by the pictures you choose. The top photo in this article is SSSOOOOO flattering 🙂

  30. Tiffany says:

It is nice to see them out doing charity work and handing their bus….oh, its a tennis match.

    Unbelievable.

  31. TotallyBiased says:

Slightly OT–Ralph Lauren dressed Tom Hiddleston (you can tell it’s a NEW blue suit and not his exact-same-shade-of-blue ‘Jane Arthy at Wimbledon’ suit because of the double pockets) for the Andy Murray match and they are very proud. Tweeted a lovely photo. Harper’s caught a pic of the new suit as well.

    • Cricket says:

Too bad Ralph Lauren didn’t design a new suit for William. For the love of all things Navy, he needs a new and better tailored suit! Newish red tie no doubt to match Waity.

      • TotallyBiased says:

From your mouth to the Royal ear! Perhaps Tom could drop a little hint, from one Old Etonian to another–‘you could look like me, dude!’. Heh.

    • Dara says:

Love that suit. He looks good in the photos at the RL box and with the umbrella. The photos in the stands with the hat, not so much. Yuck to the hat and yuck to how it looks on his head.

  32. HoustonGrl says:

I’m so over Kate’s fashion choices and fake hair. If they count this as work they should be ashamed of themselves.

  33. Citresse says:

Are there any photos of her shoes worn at Wimbledon? I hear US sportscasters call it Wimbleton (the proper Br ?) is it like the state of Hawaii, the real way to say it (natives) is (sounds like) Have- i -yeeee.

  34. teacakes (formerly oneshot) says:

I don’t like this lazy piece of toast personality either but what’s so wrong with having thick hair? I’m not into her usual style either but this is a fairly simple, wearable hairstyle – hair being thick is a good thing!

She’s not one of those women who would suit a bob (some women actually look better with longer hair regardless of age) and I don’t see the big deal about a few extensions.

    • notasugarhere says:

When they publicly deny the obvious extensions, that’s when it becomes funny.

    • Deedee says:

No problem with extensions, either, but the sugars will deny, deny that Kate would ever need them. Her hair is washed with the tears of unicorns, which magically gives her more hair in her 30s than she had in her 20s. The “curtains” of hair thrown around her neck and shoulders have covered up any good jewelry or fashion neckline she’s ever worn. And she can’t keep her hands out of her hair, while giving a “speech,” while shaking hands, while watching a performance.

      • Feeshalori says:

Don’t even get me started on the waste of good jewelry on Kate, and I’m not talking her flimsy, discreet stuff either. That siren red dress calls out for a nice statement necklace, patterned scarf or brooch, but the curtains of hair all over the place would obscure any attempt to accessorize. I’m hot just looking at her since that seems too heavy a dress for a summer’s day, unless temps are chilly there. And that color does scream, “Look at me, I’m a yummy mummy!” A nice pastel shade suited for the season would have been more appropriate.

And, of course, why is she here and not visiting her charities or attending the 7/7 commemorative event? Eh, she’d have probably worn that red dress to the latter, anyway. She’s in self-destruct mode.

    • Anne tommy says:

I don’t like her hair, it’s shapeless and heavy and frumpy. But it’s not as bad as princess Anne’s, the worst hairstyle ever, not changed since c1981. Just a big lumpy bun, harvest mice could live in it, yuck. And the whole royalty show is an expensive outmoded class dividing circus.

  35. Betti says:

In that 2nd picture i thought it was Andy Murray’s wife Kim for a sec – her hair is lighter looking.

  36. laura says:

She can go out for 5 and a half hours to watch tennis but can’t even receive a charity at KP for a 20 minutes photo op. That’s beyond lazy, it’s entitlement. Having a celebrity/billionaire/jetset lifestyle on the back of the taxpayers, and expect for them to be grateful for 15 hours of public service/charity per year. and I don’t like her 80’s diana-esque fringe.

    • anne_000 says:

But the time it takes to walk from her KP apartment to the charity event in the same building would take away from her mommy & me time…

    • Betti says:

*sigh* the man wears the fk out of a suit with a waistcoat. Time for a cold shower!

Can we have more of Hiddles in a suit?

  37. MinnFinn says:

Billy Jean King was sitting directly behind Kate today. Someone on this board should be able to use the 6 degrees of separation rule to connect with BJK and get us the scoop on her closeup view of Kate’s wiglet/extensions, her shoes plus what she and Willy talked about.

    • The Original Mia says:

For someone who is a keen and avid tennis player and watcher, she (& William) ignored the tennis great behind her.

  38. Vava says:

Move over Marie Antoinette…..Kate Middleton is in town. She and her husband are vile. I hope she does get pregnant, that’s about the only thing she does right. These two are so tone deaf, it’s shocking. Can’t work, but can go to a fancy tennis match? I hope they go back to their country pile and STAY there for the rest of the summer.

  39. TotallyBiased says:

Getty Images has a very well-placed photographer! LOTS of lovely candids of Tom Hiddleston in the stands (and I really LIKE the cute wee hat, btw, but he did politely take it off while viewing the match!)

Also, isn’t he a CLEVER git for bringing his assistant Olly rather than ANY female that Tumblr could implode over? I mean, it wasn’t just Jane Arthy–people were weird when he brought his sister to Wimbledon. And poor Sian, when he took her to a different match. MUCH safer to bring Olly, even if the poor guy looks bored.
Although I’m sure there are people who ship the two of them. Sigh.

    • Dara says:

Oh – Teebee, I think you and I might have to have words about that hat – but I’ll save my full Fashion Police critique in case there’s a post tomorrow dedicated entirely to Tom’s sartorial appearance.

May I cheekily point out that Tom and Olly’s relationship has outlasted most of Tom’s other relationships, with Luke the uber-publicist being the obvious exception.

      • TotallyBiased says:

Oh, dear–you’re right! He’s been with Olly at least since 2011, and the making of Avengers, right? In fact–do we know for sure that Olly doesn’t predate Luke? Because now that I know who to look for (given that Olly is much more low-key at events than LW) I’ve been looking back at a lot of old pics and noticed Olly in the background!

  40. seesittellsit says:

Boring – she has a peculiar affinity for sleeves this length, which can reduce any dress to matronly blah. The wrinkles on her forehead support what a friend once said who caught a glimpse of her in London: she looks older than she is in person, and she wears a huge amount of makeup, presumably to counteract that, but it ends by aging her. She’s been pretending to be an aristocratic English rose for years, but she isn’t. Great legs, great hair, chipmunky neat features, the rest is all makeup and clothes.

    • Vava says:

A lot of that hair is fake. Along with the veneers on her teeth.

      • Deedee says:

And here’s the thing. Her teeth and her hair were fine before she added the veneers and extensions. Now she’s starting to resemble a brunette Barbie.

      • candice says:

sometimes when she smiles the veneers just seem uncomfortable looking – too big or not fitted properly.

      • Betti says:

Everything about her is fake – from the laughs to the ‘affection’ between her and her husband – the prize she fought for for so long and like to rub in everyone ones faces. ‘Look at me, i’m going to be Queen so eff u all’.

The press are going to turn on these 2 and it won’t be pretty.

      • Citresse says:

Betti that’s what I think too but it hasn’t officially started yet because the press is somewhat afraid of William. He has too many friends in USA

  41. Laura says:

The Daily Mail is now reporting that Prince William made light of the current Tube strike in London. What an insensitive, unintelligent and arrogant jerk he is! Thousands of people are stressed by the strike and do not possess access to a tax payer funded private car or helicopter to ferry them home! He should not be making fun of the “commoners” and their struggles as it is those very people who have made it possible for him and his equally useless wife to live a life of unimaginable wealth and privilege.

  42. Bea says:

    Chav.

  43. msthang says:

    Another lovey dovey put on!

  44. Citresse says:

Where is Pippa Mids? I didn’t mind having to decipher what appeared as some insider info. Though, at times, it was a little too difficult.

  45. Hazel says:

The dress is too reminiscent of the blue Stella McCartney, just slightly fuller & longer in the skirt. I’m surprised she didn’t wear the Cartier necklace.

    • notasugarhere says:

Maybe she’s saving it for the Rio Olympics? Most European royal families send reps to the Olympics, and many of them are former Olympians. UK usually sends Anne, but I wonder if W&K will try to horn in on three weeks of fun in Rio on taxpayers. After all, cheering at sporting events is one of the few engagements they are willing to do.
