Halle Berry has been promoting Extant, which returned to CBS for its second season on July 9. I watched the first season and while it started out promising it got really complicated and seemed to go off the rails towards the end. I’ll tune in to a couple of episodes this season to give it another chance (I haven’t watched it yet). It’s promising that Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been introduced as a new character, but I doubt they can pull the plot together. There was too much supernatural mysterious crap happening last season without any kind of pattern. I doubt there’s going to be a payoff at the end, either.

One thing I can say about Extant is that Halle Berry always elevates it. She’s such a convincing actress that it never occurs to me to question her in the role and I’m not distracted by her messy personal life. Speaking of Halle’s personal life, we’ve been receiving tips that she may be split from Olivier Martinez, her third husband and the father of her youngest child. Halle and Olivier haven’t been spotted together in some time (I don’t think they’ve been seen together since February) and they used to have regular pap outings. She’s also been wearing either no ring or a different ring in place of her wedding ring. Now this, perhaps the most damning – she got tripped up by a question from E! News about her big second year anniversary. Mark Malkin of E! asked “What are you going to do to celebrate? Big anniversary coming up two years.” She didn’t know what he was talking about and then she seemed somewhat nervous talking about it. He explained (off camera) and then she said “Thank you for reminding me. I gotta get something fast. Two years that’s big for me.” Yeah we know Halle.

Later, Halle told Malkin about her relationship with new costar Jeffrey Dean Morgan. She explained “as people we just hit it off and that gets to be on camera… when you really like somebody it shows and we have so much fun together.” A super hot slimmed down Morgan explained that their characters’ relationship was similar to the one shown in the 80s show Moonlighting in that “we wanted to have this build up of sexual tension as it were.” They both looked kind of delighted talking about each other.

Our tipster, Lola, also sent us this link to a joint Comic-Con interview they did with EW. Halle and Jeffrey seem to have an easy, flirty relationship. She called him a “reason to come to work“. She had nothing but praise for his skill and got positively effusive about it. “I just feel better because he’s with me. We work off each other so beautifully we have a natural energy. We laugh at the same sh*t, we get mad at the same stuff. We have a natural connection. He brings so much edge and sexiness.” Then Halle said that her character “will be swapping fluids” with Jeffrey’s character. When Jeffrey started talking she got SUPER giggly. After they brought up the fact that Jeffrey is guesting on the Good Wife she joked that she didn’t want to share him. “He’s my man.”

At first I didn’t believe that Halle could have something with Jeffrey but it seems like they are at least really flirty with each other. Jeffrey, 49, got married last year to Hilarie Burton, 33, with whom he has a five year-old son. So he’s probably not on the market technically, but I could see something happening there. That said, I bet Halle has been split from Olivier for a while and has made an agreement with him to keep it under wraps.
