Amy Schumer is not quite on top of the world right now, but she’s definitely close to the top. Trainwreck – which she wrote and stars in – made $30 million in its opening weekend and the film got solid-to-great reviews. She survived her first big backlash intact. And she’s even managed to name-check some big celebrities without feeling any pushback. In Trainwreck, there’s a joke about Anne Hathaway – Bill Hader’s character wins an award for his work with Doctors Without Borders and he’s showing off his award all over the place and Schumer’s character tells him that he looks like “Anne Hathaway walking around at an Oscars after-party.” Anne Hathaway responded:
Which is cute. Annie’s trying. Amy responded on Twitter:
I love you Anne Hathaway. I have no problem selling out and telling you that that was @JuddApatow s joke he made me say! #truth

Amy was also on Watch What Happens Live on Tuesday and she ended up talking about her Inside Amy Schumer skit making fun of Blake Lively’s interview with David Letterman (you can see it here). Amy told Andy Cohen: “You’re not going to believe this, but we’re not close friends. I have not heard anything… I think that she, like, sleeps in a beautiful tower covered in ivy, nursing her baby and has definitely never heard about our stupid scene.”
And finally, Amy is preparing her next big film project after the success of Trainwreck. She’s going to do a comedy about a mother and daughter who are kidnapped during a vacation in Brazil. Amy will play the daughter and these are the names being bandied about for the mom: Sally Field, Meryl Streep and Frances Conroy.

She needs a new stylist and hair/makeup people. Too much highlighter on her face.
Is she hot enough to be on TV?
Ha! Jury is still out on that.
hah, the 12 angry men episode was pure genius.
We should have a dildo fight to settle it once and for all.
No she doesn’t.
Why would Blake respond anyway?
I LOVE Anne Hathaway. Such a classy response.
Why do I feel that the next comedy set in Brazil will be full of stereotypes of Brazil and maybe even offensive to Brazlians? But then again, most American movies misrepresent and are offensive about other countries, apart from maybe England and France, so I wouldn’t be surprised.
Yeah, we Brits never get stereotyped in English movies.
*sips tea and looks snooty*
Fine, but I’ll take snooty tea sippers over mobsters/war criminals/prostitues who live in utter poverty which is apparently the only thing we Eastern Europeans are . And I won’t even talk about the presentation of people who are not from Europe.
Same as us Aussies *fights crocodile, subdues large buffalo, lives in bush*
unfortunately that’s exactly how it sounded to me…I hope not.
Really? When I think of Brazil I think of beaches, carnival, supermodels …
France doesn’t get misrepresented in American movies???
If anything about that dreadful “The Hundred-Foot Journey” was more painful to me than the atrocious writing, it was the way they depicted life in your average French village with a Michelin-star restaurant.
Francis Convoy as the mother. She will play straight with a nueince that is subtle.
Also, not surprised Anne did that. Never got the hate for her. She is a people pleaser. Eh.
Also, Apatow’ s tweet was pretty great as well.
Ugh yes Frances Conroy!!! I can’t wait for this movie!
Why is AS expecting them to respond at all? does she want one of them to pitch a fit so she can use that too? AH showed a good sense of humor (or a good publicist) with her response. And for someone who claims she doesn’t back down and she’ll do a joke no matter what she was sure quick to put that one on Judd A.
I agree why would Blake, Anne or anyone have to respond to her she show their ok with it. If a celebrity is not crying about how mean the comedian is being to them, 1. they don’t care, 2. are not offended or 3. didn’t pay attention to what some comedian said about them.
I think she was being sarcastic, especially with the “You’re not going to believe this, but we’re not close friends” being said before she said that Blake hadn’t contacted her.
Yes, most people clearly have underdeveloped sarcasm meters. She doesn’t expect any response, as she said “… and has definitely never heard about our stupid scene.”
Anne’s response is so tryhard and cringey. Anne, you’re so cool and in on the joke! 😒
I agree, she should have just posted the ticket, way to slay and maybe a laughing emoji, the rest just told me that she was kind of offended
Yes that’s what I thought too! Oh well, she really wanted to seem cool about it. I can understand that.
@Amy Dunne- precisely. After all, brevity is the soul of wit.
Really ready for this chick to go away.
Love Anne Hathaway, so watchable onscreen. Schumer is very funny, nice to see women with actual talent rather than just ornaments for men.
Totally agree!
Oooh Sally Field, I need to see her in something again soon.
I love Sally Field. I want to see her in everything!
Anne Hathaway trying hard to get people to like her and praise her for being a good sport.
I’ve seen lots of posts about this chick but I have no idea what’s she’s about. I must be getting old or something…
Yeah, I keep seeing posts, interviews, and cameos, but I’ve yet to see one of her actual movies. The little blurbs I keep seeing her in don’t inspire confidence, tbh (except maybe in her publicist).
Anne’s response was perfect — complimentary, self-deprecating, but still shady as hell. Beautiful.
Ugh, I just can’t with Hathaway. None of these starlets have a sense of humor! You’re in the public sphere and you can’t handle someone making fun of you? Get over yourself.
But she did respond in a funny, self-deprecating way.
Why would she expect Blake Lively to respond? So when she responds everyone can call her a big baby that can’t take a joke but Blake didn’t respond so now Amy wants to say that it wasn’t about Blake Lively when it so obviously was. Blake took the high road and ignored this nonsense and I have a ton of respect for her for that.
I agree wholeheartedly.
I totally agree. Blake is keeping it classy. Plus, Amy’s making fun of one of Blake’s interviews with David Letterman that was absolutely cringe-worthy (like I couldn’t make it halfway through…) so best not draw attention to it.
Did anyone see the movie? I sat in a theater with about 5 people, so I’ll surprised at the box off take. To be honest, I was expecting to laugh more than I did..
I legit lol’ed more than I have at any other movie in a long time. May not be your taste – comedy is super subjective.
