Is Jennifer Aniston an ‘ice queen’ on set?

fp_2048179_aniston_jennifer
Last week’s issue of OK! Magazine featured “Jen’s Shocking Decision – I Will Never Remarry” on the cover. Bullet points claimed the 40 year-old actress “realizes she’ll never find another Brad,” but that “she’ll still be a mom this year!”

Given the latest report from OK! I think it’s safe to assume that Aniston and/or her publicist have done something to offend the usually celebrity-friendly glossy. OK! claims that Aniston isn’t being particularly friendly to cast and crew on the NY set of the comedy she’s filming, The Baster, and they even go so far as to call her an “ice queen.” All she did was eat in her trailer to avoid the paparazzi, though:

It was like being at a new school on the first day of class for superstar Jennifer Anistonon Monday, as she began work on the NYC set of her upcoming film, The Baster.

The former Friend spent her day inside Greenwich Village restaurant Barbuto, shooting an awkward date scene with co-star Jason Bateman. The set-up involved the actors sitting at a booth inside the restaurant attempting to have a conversation.

Perhaps Jen was trying to stay in character between takes, because witnesses tell OK! wasn’t any friendlier when the cameras stopped rolling. “Jen kept mostly to herself,” one on-set source reveals. “She didn’t talk to anyone during the breaks.”

Though some Baster insiders tell OK! that Jen is “sweet and totally normal,” she’s not doing a great job of convincing everyone of that fact. In fact, on her first day on the set, she held up shooting because her hair wasn’t perfect.

“In the morning, the cast and crew had to wait to start filming without Jen because she asked for extra time to finishing blow-drying her hair,” reveals one source.

And when the lunch bell rang, not only did Jen not deign to eat her Cobb salad in the company of her new co-workers, she actually had herself driven to her trailer so she could eat alone!

“Jen refused to walk even a step outside the restaurant during the break for lunch,” says an insider. “She had her car pull up right next to the restaurant so she could be driven less than a block to her trailer to avoid photographers.”

[From OK! Magazine]

If you carefully read this story from OK!, Aniston wasn’t trying to avoid her co-workers by eating along, she was trying to avoid the swarming paparazzi. Photographers can be incredibly invasive and they often shout obnoxious things at celebrities trying to get a response. You don’t blame her for not eating with everyone else if that means that she’s going to be photographed and heckled the whole time. What’s more is that she may have had the best interests of the cast and crew in mind by deciding to eat alone in her trailer. That way, they would be able to eat in peace instead of being bothered by photographers trying to get shots of her the whole time.

OK! decided to make it sound like Aniston was snubbing the people she works with though, and titled this article “Jen Aniston’s Ice Queen Antics on Baster Set.” She’s not my favorite person, but I doubt she’s a snob. Aniston usually comes across as friendly and kind in interviews and people who’ve worked with her say she’s approachable. OK! seems to have an issue with her and is looking for something to nitpick about. Maybe it’s true that she kept mostly to herself on the first day, but she might just take time to warm up to people. That’s doesn’t mean she’s an “ice queen.” I’m a little shy too on the first day at a new workplace and try to focus on the job. Stories like this really make me think that Aniston is damned no matter what she does.

I’m not a huge fan either, but I’ve never heard or read a report before that said JA isn’t completely friendly on set. She was obviously just trying to avoid the papps.

I have to laugh at the “Cobb salad” bit. I know she’s supposed to be a creature of habit, but she can’t still be eating that everyday for lunch, like she did while filming Friends! OK must have added it to make their story sound plausible. Right? Right?????

  2. heh-heh says:

Why are they still giving this woman work?

  3. diddy says:

    ^^^
they keep giving her work because she makes money for the studio . her last three films were number ones and have made over 100 million and according to frobes she was number 6 on the actor or actress that have the best value for money ; for every dollar she is paid she makes 17 dollar back for the studio….seriously which studio wouldn’t be happy with that, you may not watch films she is in but alot of other people do

  4. Ben says:

I can’t stand her movies and so not going to see this one either. So much phony hype surrounds her.

  5. kubi says:

Weirdly I like HER – she’s a perfect example of how an average-looking woman can make the best of herself – but, apart from the genius “Office Space”, I’ve never been tempted by any of her movies. I do, however, understand the concept of supply-and-demand and she does manage to turn mediocre rom-coms into money makers which is why the studios are “still giving this woman work”.

  6. Hieronymus Grex says:

Her best work has in Marley & Me and I’m not a fan of hers, just stating the facts. It doesn’t surprise me if she deemed a little frosty, simply because every little thing she says/does/thinks/feels/etc becomes frontpage gossip rag news.

  7. sarcra says:

I think OK! knows they are never going to land an exclusive interview with Aniston, so printing stuff like this can’t hurt if they still sell magazines. I’ve never heard anything about JA being hard to work with or unfriendly on sets.

  8. sarcra says:

“Why are they still giving this woman work?”

Because her latest movies have done well, she works hard, and she usually generates positive publicity, which equals attention for the film she’s in. This isn’t Lindsay Lohan we’re talking about. At least JA shows up for work, does her job, and doesn’t attract negative press with bad behavior.

  9. GuyIncognito says:

She’s great in ‘Office Space’, the greatest American comedy of the last 25 years!

  10. Lem says:

less than a block? I hope it’s hogwash. I’m all for avoiding the pap’s sure but there has to be a better solution than hailing a driver for 1/2 a block.
Is a picture of any star, that 2 dozen other photogs will have, worth standing in front of a restaurant for a fifteen hour shift? what a strange profession
If they (studio) release stills from each shoot before the day then would the photog’s lessen?

  11. Lem says:

    I’m so over that coat

  12. PJ says:

It’s doubtful that Jennifer made the cast and crew wait while she was blow-drying her hair, because she doesn’t do her own hair. There is a hairstylist on set who does it (she may even have her own separate stylist–watch the movie credits and find out!)

Just saw “He’s Not That Into You” and thought JA’s performance was the best of any of the many well-known actors in it.

  13. Cinderella says:

She could have been having a bad day. Mondays suck anyway.

  14. DD says:

I don’t buy Jen the ice queen. she has too many friends and seems too personable for that.

  15. kap says:

Don’t like her and never will but this story is ridiculous (what else is new?) Her formulaic romcoms make money. She only has about 3-5 years left to be believable in these types of roles. I understand she’s not capable of heavy dramas but she really needs to try playing different character types. How many romcoms can one do in a lifetime? There are 4 out this year alone. A good action/comedy role would be a step up for her, IMO, and she can leave the romcoms to the younger, more attractive actresses like Isla Fisher

  16. Wonder Woman says:

lmao excuse me I am still laughing my ass off at the ” superstar Jennifer Anistonon ” part

    {throws head back, and laughs}

  17. Tammy King says:

I still like Jennifer Aniston, although I don’t think she is a great actress. Even though “The Good Girl” is one of my favorite movies, she tends to play the same character.

  18. umm says:

“leave the romcoms to the younger, more attractive actresses like Isla Fisher”… Excuse me but did you watch Confessions of a Shopaholic? That romcom was horrendous.

  19. georgiagrl says:

She’s boring, and as far as her last two hit movies? An essemble and a dog. Wow!!The majority doesn’t care about her.

  20. Wow says:

I haven’t seen The Good Girl, but I think she did an incredible job in Derailed. Plus it has those two sexy beasts Clive Owen & Vincent Cassel. The script was good too.

  21. Meg says:

I like Jen but don’t think she was the big draw for the movies she’s in. With Office Space I didn’t pay her any attention. The other stars where the draw. I hated derail and with M&M Wilson and the dogs plus it’s was Christmas time that’s what made the movie. I hated all that pr garbarge Jen and her people had going on. I also read the book and wanted to see it but I almost didn’t because of Jen. I hated that tri-angle garbage.
She does have a lot of distasteful pr game playing going on. I wish they had enough confidence in what movies she make so they can stop the fake pr trickes.

  22. diddy says:

meg it doesnt sound like you like so why lie LOL

  23. hmm says:

I mean let’s face it, Jen needed a hit just like Nicole Kidman and Julia Roberts need their upcoming movies to hit big. Jen has released a bunch of films over the past four or five years and only two or three have proven to be profitable and none have been critically lauded. I agree with Meg, that Marley & Me, and the craptastic HJNTIY would have done the same amount regardless of who was in the movie, and the sad reality is that she does not have a distinctive movie presence and she does tend to play the same character over and over again. Unfortunately for her, if she doesn’t change it up she is going to age out of the movies that have been her mainstay. I honestly used to like her on Friends but I admit that the PR shenanigans and the victim pose have turned me away from her.

  24. Margs says:

If it’s from “OK” it probably has very little to no foundation.

  25. diddy says:

hmmm and meg you seem obessed with her so called pr team, get over it every celebrity does pr ;she wouldnt be the first or the last.
if she offends you that much stop paying attention to her LOL

  26. diddy says:

and btw three movies out of five being hits is not bad a all, not everybody can be will smith whose most films are box office hits haha

  27. czarina says:

I guess it depends on your perspective about the “ice queen” thing.
Is she going to eat with all the gofers, make-up people, lighting people, production assistants, etc. on the set? Probably not.
Is she going to be really friendly and hang out with them? Probably not.
Let’s face it, it’s like any other office…do the executives eat lunch with the most junior secretaries?
    Probably not.
    That’s just reality.

  28. Wens says:

I think she’s great, I loved Friends and the majority of films she’s been in since. She comes across as easy going and friendly when interviewed and how often have we seen her growling at the Scum Bag Paparazzi? Let’s be real here, if any of us were famous enough to be hounded by press every single day of our lives wouldn’t we want to hide away occasionally and why do we all write like we know her intimately when in reality we have no idea who the ‘real’ Jennifer is. p.s. Don’t you think she and Gerard Butler would make a gorgeous couple – he’s way sexier than Brad!

  29. somebody says:

Her movie characters always look like she does in real life. How will she be remembered? Probably as a woman scorned…not a great actress. She has spent so much time in front of the camera…seems like a wasted life.

  30. aleach says:

“leave the romcoms to the younger, more attractive actresses like Isla Fisher”

@ kap- that comment is actually really sad & i hope that you are not a woman…

  31. RAN says:

@aleach – haven’t “seen” you for a while. I’ve missed your sharp wit.

I agree with you too. Kap and a lot of the other posters must live very narrow lives.

J Aniston is a pretty decent actress…even if she plays a similar character each time, she’s surely managed to perfect it. Give it a break people…there’s very little reason to attack someone who has never done anything to you.

  32. LAURA says:

I LIKE HER I THINK PEOPLE HAVE A BAD IMPRESSION OF HER …I MEAN JUST BECAUSE SHE IS NOT ANGELINA JOLIE DOESN’T MEAN EVERYBODY HAS TO HATE HER…SHE IS FUNNY AND I THINK SHE WORKS HARD AND IF THEY STILL GIVE HER A JOB IS CAUSE SHE GIVES THEM GOOD RESULTS…DON’T YOU THINK..BESIDES SHE DOESN’T HAVE TO SAY HELLO AND BE SMILEY ALL TIME IS A HUMAN NOT A ROBOT O SOMTHING ELSE!

  33. Patriot1010 says:

After reading all of these comments, it amazes me how little defense Jennifer gets for her beauty and her talent and her kindness. Not one single individual who has worked with Jennifer has a negative comment about her. Don’t you notice this? All negativity comes from idiotic rag mags. “Reporters’ who still make up gossip like they are still in high school. Jennifer is absolutely professional and a gifted actress. All other actors and directors continually compliment her for her timing and comedic talents. Her reactions and mannerisms, while acting, are so natural, you miss seeing how gifted she is. As for her beauty……take a look at her eyes and smile in several photos. She is nothing short of gorgeous. Gesshh!! Focus people. lol If any one of you spent 5 mins with this sweet person, you would never say another negative thing about her. There are several reasons why she is so popular and adored wordlwide.
