If they ever remake The Big Lewbowski, Matthew McConaughey should be cast as The Dude. Can you imagine? McConaughey saying stuff like “The Dude abides” and “Fortunately, I’m adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug, uh, regimen to keep my mind, you know, uh, limber.” I mention this because whenever I read quotes from Matthew, I tend to hear them in The Dude’s voice. Try it, it’s fun!

McConaughey will appear on Wednesday’s Rachel Ray Show, and he’s talking about his utterly adorable son Levi. Judging only from pictures of Levi, I really think he must be so calm and chilled out, just like his dad. According to Matthew, out photo assumptions are correct – Matthew says Levi is “an easy traveler”. US Magazine has more:

Traveling with an 8-month old? No big deal, says Matthew McConaughey.

“Levi is doing well, man. Five stamps on the passport,” he says on the 500th episode of the Rachel Ray Show (airing Wednesday). “Check this out, perfect tank of gas before he wakes up and is ready to eat. So as soon as it gets below a quarter of a tank and I gotta pull off to get gas, Levi’s waking up. So far so good. We’re having a good time – he’s an easy traveler.”

McConaughey — who just signed on star in the upcoming legal thriller The Lincoln Lawyer – also dishes about what he’d do if he weren’t an actor.

“I think I’d either want to coach a college program, football,” he says. “Or go off and do like what Steve Irwin did. Or be a chef.”

When it comes to food, “I really like to get everything in one bowl,” he tells Ray.

“A lot of times we’ll make a pasta, and we’ll make a salad, and we’ll make a meat dish,” says the actor, who is dating model Camila Alves, the mother of his son. “We end up putting pasta on the bottom because of the heat and layer in the salad and the meat on top. I love merging like that.”

That pasta-salad-meat dish sounds pretty gross. I realize all of it’s going to the same place, but I just have this image of a steak on top of a Caesar salad, on top of pasta with marinara. Can Matthew even taste the individual flavors when he does his food like that? I find myself respecting Camila Alves more and more – she seems to put up with a lot, stuff that would drive other women (me) insane.
