I’m really confused by that Bernie Sanders story. They interrupted his speech to call for 4 minutes of silence for Michael Brown at a presidential rally in Seattle, and then decided they had the authority to decide Bernie wouldn’t be speaking? Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for making sure this country doesn’t forget Ferguson. But it seems like these ladies chose a really random and inapproaite place to send their message. I don’t know how much this will do to advance their cause. I’m not saying it’s wrong, I’m just very confused.

Bernie was arrested protesting segregation of schools, for f’s sake! He has a long history of not just speaking out on racial inequality, but taking action.
It wasn’t even his event, it was a rally about Medicare/Medicaid. There are also stories swirling that the protesters weren’t actually affiliated with BlackLivesMatter, I don’t know. All I can say is that his policy plans on racial justice and reform is outstanding. Martin O’Malley has a pretty good one too. Still waiting for the presumed front runner… any day now, Hillary…

Although it is quite disquieting when you dig deeper into the facts. The Facebook page and social media presence of Johnson’s faction BLM Seattle did not exist until the day of the rally. Two hours after the interruption her Facebook page had been live for less than 24 hours and had garnered less than 50 followers. Again, this may all relate back to poor planning and nothing nefarious, but it is certainly not indicative of someone attempting to achieve legitimacy within the political spectrum.
Johnson is also a member of a group called Outside Agitators 206, a movement within the larger Black Lives Matter movement, based out of Seattle. Unfortunately, they don’t appear to hold the same goals as the larger movement and actually made a public statement declaring their intent was to “declare war on the Democratic Party“.

Apparently it was pretty bad. There’s nothing like shoving aside an old man and then screaming at everyone from the stage to get people to take you and your cause seriously.
There’s also a lot of questions as to whether or not these women are actually affiliated with BLM – as others have noted, their Facebook page was only created a day or two before the Sanders rally. From their actions (the rally was only cancelled when it became clear that they weren’t giving Sanders back the microphone) it seems they were seeking attention more than anything.

Bernie had more than 20,000 people at his event on Sunday in Portland, so it looks like the stunt didn’t hold him back at all! Go Bernie!

Bernie Sanders is pretty much my only hope for 2016. If he’s out, I’m probably not gonna vote tbh.
I understand, Tiffany27. I’m terrified of a President Hillary Clinton myself because I’m pretty positive that she’ll take the U.S. to war with Iran, and Canada will be dragged into it as an ally, and I think she will definitely support the Keystone XL pipeline, so that’s game over for climate change. I guess the alternative though is a Republican president, which is worse in my opinion, because that means zero support for the poor, for people of colour, for women, for the environment, you name it, because the budget cuts, department shut-downs, corporate cash influx and tax breaks, and Supreme Court stacking with conservatives are a-comin’.
Things can be disheartening, but you have to remember the very serious consequences of another GOP nomination on the Supreme Court. Our country would be so seriously screwed if we get any further to the right on that panel that is appointed for life.
I’ll vote a write in if Sanders is out, but ITA that Hilary is no bueno to the next degree.
