I already covered the photos of George and Amal Clooney out to dinner in Ibiza on Saturday night – go here to see. These photos are from Sunday night, also in Ibiza, at the “official launch of Casamigos Tequila” at the Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel. The Clooneys were joined by Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford, of course. The guest list for this launch included Mario Testino, Avicii (who was the DJ), James Blunt and makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury (Tilbury did Amal’s makeup on her wedding day).
As for Amal’s look… the gold dress is Vionnet. I guess Amal wanted to make sure that everyone knows she’s not a one-designer gal, especially if that designer is John Galliano or Stella McCartney. The Vionnet dress is cute and occasion-appropriate and it sort of reminds me of the fact that George likes his ladies to look a bit like showgirls. Like, he enjoys some Vegas glamour. I also think he asked Amal to get breast implants, because her tatas are certainly “sitting up” in a different way. Amal’s heels are either Dior or Jimmy Choo (different sites are going with different IDs)… I kind of think they’re Dior.
We’re coming up on Amal and George’s first wedding anniversary. Do you think we’ll get a pregnancy announcement in the months to come? I think we might. I’m not sure if she’s got a small bump now or if the dress just has some weird folds in the midsection.

There’s no way she’s an A cup, I’ve thought she had implants for a while because they’ve always seemed big for her frame and sort of rigid looking.
Nicole Kidman, Gwenyth, and kate Hudson all have smallish implants. So does Taylor swift. Not many people who want to be taken seriously go for the larger implants anymore.
I think she just taped them in place. They use gaffer’s tape (Don’t use duct tape unless you pre-test it on a towel so it gets a protective layer of lint). I’ve done it and it works well with A-C but once you get farther down the alphabet it becomes more complex engineering.
I think you can…I didn’t notice it at first but yeah, it looks like the fabric is sort of sheer. If it’s not her underwear then it’s the weirdest shadows ever.
I don’t hate the look overall but it seems a tiny bit too “look at me, I’m in a gold dress!” flashy, at least for my tastes.

I don’t know… we just came home from dinner at a super hot restaurant/club (in Europe). Hubby wore a polo shirt and fitted jeans, I was in a dress. All the couples around us were dressed similarly, most men in jeans with an open neck shirt, a few in slacks with an open neck shirt and most wearing some jewelry. (My fashion plate relative who wears custom made Italian suits wore red Todd’s with a matching belt which I thought was way too.. ostentatious and he called me boring and old school.)
With a gold dress like that (I had a similar thing in my twenties, would not dare to wear it now) what should George wear? To me this is clubbing fashion for adults – but I don’t consider myself a fashionista anymore 🙂

It’s the shoes. The high strap is unflattering to her leg and ankle. A side shot they look better. But face on, I’m not fond of that kind of shoe on many women’s legs.

I think part of it is that Cindy is really fit. She has developed her soleus over years of training and so she doesn’t have that pin-thin lower calf that Amal has.

I kept thinking that this must be the common icky feeling I get when I see a young woman with a much older man, but there is something more to this relationship that I couldn’t put my finger on until now. Yes, now I can see it. Amal and George definitely have strong similarities to Kate and Tom in the early days of their relationship before she looked absolutely miserable. And we all know how that ended.

Its a major publicity stunt, on Lainey gossip she said they told the press on Friday about this, so they would get lots of media attention. @Caitlin Bruce They review public sentiment and adjust their behaviour accordingly. Lately the blog comments have said a lot about their “fake/sham” marriage, so here we go with the PDA photos. These two are obsessed with their public image. It’s so obvious how they adjust their behaviour accordingly and how George has to rebut what people are saying about them in his interviews (e.g., she does not have a stylist, her dress sense is eccentric, etc etc).
Why are they so mismatched? She’s way overdressed (and even if she looks good, a little on the hoochie side), he’s way underdressed. Rande and Cindy ftw.

Has she? I always thought she needed to put on about 10 pounds to look her best. those legs are still a bit scrawny for me. I would let her borrow my dumbbells so that she could do some squats and build a little more muscle on those legs. I think THEN she would have the amazing legs that everyone keeps saying she has. Right now, she has these pointy knees that look like they hurt.
I know, she could slice somebody with those knees. Not to mention her elbows, I learned the hard way to stay away from elbows like that on the dance floor.
She’s definitely gained about ten pounds already, she was frighteningly frail a few months ago, it was painful to look at her she was so emaciated. Now she looks nice, she could do with a few more pounds and some real strength training to build her up but she looks so much healthier than she was.
And George is still wearing the same exact outfit as in the photos with the sundress.

Amal’s problem with her outfits is that she tries too hard. She is neither sophisticated, unique or timeless. She is dressed to go disco dancing, not a launch party for a liquor brand. I don’t like the folds in the dress, it doesn’t fall right on her, looks peculiar.
I think this dress is too young for her, too short, she is too thin for it and she looks over dressed. She comes across as always trying too hard and hasn’t found “her own style”. She always looks like she wears whatever clothes designers send her for free rather than picking out what she looks comfortable wearing. When she does pick out her own clothes, they are always too ingénue or young for a woman who is supposed to look sophisticated. She should ask Kerry Washington for advice.

I agree. I was considering giving this dress a pass (she looks good in gold), but there are too many things that bug me. Definitely too short. Material is really thin and that makes it seem cheap. I HATE that the dress seems to only be gold on the front. If you look at some of he pics, it has a plain black back…like some of those “sequinned” things you find in high street shops where the manufacturer only sequins the front to keep costs down. And those shoes are WAY too heavy to be worn with that dress, unbalance the look, and oddly draw attention to her skinny, pointy knees. However, from the bustline up, she looks fantastic.
There are many adjectives that can be used to describe Amal: tall, thin, accomplished, sophisticated, clever, lanky, try hard. Sexy is not one of them. Cindy Crawford looks sexy. Amal wears thousand dollar designer clothes and often looks tacky in them. This is one of those times. This is what happens when a woman marries a much older sugar daddy. He wears comfortable clothes and expects his girl to wear something like…that. The bottom pic is a joke. She looks like a showgirl standing next to him. Whatever. She knows what she is doing and is enjoying the the fame, fortune, and this entire arrangement.

She looks like she put on a few pounds and it makes a world of difference in how sickly she had looked most recently. I agree the dress should be longer, she looks silly standing knockkneed and pigeon toed, lastly the drape in the front looks like she got her dress caught in her underwear on the way from the bathroom.

Priscilla, Queen of the Desert comes to mind…over-accentuating the feminine moves. The dress is disco attire, and it’s Ibiza, so it’s ok, I guess. The idea is to have Amal front and center, so George obviously doesn’t think he needs to make any effort. She’s his accessory, and she acts like it. Sure the dress could use a lining, but I LOVE disco and the style that went with it. And slinky gold dress sounds like perfection in my book.
Though after seeing that it’s by Vionnet, I am not surprised it looks like a bit of a hot mess and is lacking something as obvious as a lining when it’s made of partly sheer fabric. The Vionnet owner/chief designer is a bit on the tacky side herself, typical ‘former USSR oil money’ playing at being a creative with zero previous dressmaking knowledge or skills. Makes you feel bad for people like McQueen who toiled away for years as tailors and costumers before even getting their hands on enough money for a catwalk show.

i think vionnet is a really historic, classic fashion house, non? unless i’m mistaken… but if it’s the case, they, er, have slid waaaay down-market, bc, ew, they could have at least bothered with a liner for the skirt…
also does anyone else notice HOW MUCH they look alike? they say couples start to resemble each other, but these guys haven’t been together very long; it’s sort of incredible. in some of the pics where they’re facing the same direction, you can see that the arch of their brows is identical, their noses have a similar angle, and their chins are perfectly-matching his-and-hers squared-off versions of each other. it’s fascinating.

No, Carolyn liked more muted neutral tones and always classic, tailored looks. Amal likes brighter, flashier outfits. She can mix it up with classic looks, but even then, usually with more color, but not always. George said she’s quirky, and she is.

Caroly B. could only get away with showing so much decolleté because a) she didn’t have much of a balcony and certainly nothing that would wriggle without a bra and b) she worked in the fashion industry where an acceptable business outfit can be a bit more risqué. Otherwise I have seen ladies of the night covering up more.

Here’s what I see: an imbalance in couple dynamic. While she is expected to glitter, he can dial it in with jeans. (And contrary to what a poster said… I lived in Europe for many years and the places I frequented, even tacky Ibiza… both the men and women dressed up.) Whereas with Rande and Cindy, regardless of whether you like their styles or not, it’s clear that she expects him to make an effort too. I see parity, equality. My guess is that George is content with a trophy and Amal is just not that into him. I also don’t care what my wealthy uncle is wearing as long as he’s picking up the tab.

I had a dress similar to that gold lame dress which I wore in the 90’s, but it was silver instead. I always thought I looked both sexy and classy in it when I went out at night for drinks and dancing.
