Kathy Griffin rips Chris Brown and Diddy, won’t make fun of Lindsay

Controversial comedian and reality star Kathy Griffin says even she has some boundaries. Though she’s poked fun at Lindsay Lohan in the past, she says that now is not the time to bust on the troubled actress. However, Griffin didn’t hold back when it came to sharing her thoughts on Chris Brown, Rihanna and Diddy.

But some of Griffin’s usual victims can rest easy this time. “I’m more likely to make fun of Lindsay Lohan a year ago,” she says. “She was clubbing every night with the girlfriend and, like, DJing – but now it seems like she’s in the throes of real trouble. It feels like kicking her when she’s down. Believe it or not, I might kind of take her out for the time being. That’s a little hard to find the comedy in.”

“People ask me about Anna Nicole all the time. I made fun of Anna Nicole – I went to her house one time and she was really f***ed up. But when she died, I had people say to me, ‘Are you going to make fun of her tonight?’ No. She died today. The line is always so clear to me. People often say that I have no boundaries, but the line is crystal clear to me.”

The line clearly does not preclude Griffin from treading on her own sacred cows. She’s including a joke about Chris Brown in her opening song-and-dance routine for the ‘A-List Awards,’ despite having passionate opinions on Brown’s alleged beating of his girlfriend Rihanna. “I sing, ‘Chris Brown was on the A-list ’til he kicked around Rihanna. Now he’s doing sex acts with a mule in Tijuana.’ We go right there. First five minutes of the show, honey.”

In truth, Griffin finds the story tragic. “It’s heartbreaking to me that it seems like she doesn’t want to testify against him. I’ve heard one theory that he bought her off, but that doesn’t make sense to me, since she’s so rich. It seems like she’s suffering from classic battered woman syndrome. It breaks my heart that for whatever reason, she can’t say ‘Okay, this is going to suck, but I have to testify and put this guy away’ – and then move on with her career. Because I think she’s going to be fine. I’m sure that the trial would be very difficult for her to go through.”

She adds, “I hear young women on ‘Oprah’ saying things like ‘Well, you shouldn’t piss off your man.’ That’s extremely upsetting to me. That photo of her – knowing the photo was taken that night and obviously she must have looked worse the next day – that fact is indisputable. You have to be hit so hard to get those bruises and lacerations. When Diddy says things like ‘Well, a man should never put his hands on a woman, but a woman should never put her hands on a man,’ don’t act like it’s a fair f***ing fight, Diddy. I really resent when anyone implies that she started it. It’s not a cage match. She’s a girl. Let’s be honest. She can’t physically hurt him – unless she hit him with a knife or a gun, not her fist or her hand or she slapped him – let’s cut the sh**. I feel like this girl [Rihanna] is out there on her own, and more importantly, there are young women taking his side.”

Griffin blames the decline of the woman’s movement for Brown’s vocal female fan base. “I resent when girls talk about ‘burning bras’ – the women’s movement saved lives. The reason Madonna can dress like a whore and Katy Perry can sing about kissing a girl is because women marched and fought. It blows my mind that the whole movement is, as my friend TI would say, dead and gone. I think the only thing that’s going to happen is that [Chris Brown] is going to get away with it and more young women are going to think it’s part of a relationship.”

“I’m appalled at the celebrities that are even on the fence. If there wasn’t a photo of her, then of course you could say ‘We weren’t there, we don’t really know what happened.’ But when Diddy sat there on ‘Ellen’ and had the nerve to say ‘Well, you weren’t in that car?’ I didn’t have to be in the car! Bloody lip.”

Kathy is one of those people you either love or hate. Personally, I think she’s hilarious. I love that she’s not afraid to say exactly what’s on her mind, even at the risk of offending other celebrities and even damaging her own career, like her many clashes with Barbara Walters that got her banned from “The View.” She’s like the snarky fly on the wall who gives us all a glimpse behind the curtain at how messed up famous people are. Let’s face it, some of the things going on in Hollywood deserve to be ridiculed. OK, a LOT of the things. And I don’t think anyone could do a better job of summing up this entire Chris Brown/Rihanna situation. Even if Rihanna did hit Chris – which is simply a myth perpetuated by his defenders – it was never a fair fight. There are no excuses, and trying to make it look like anything other than a bigger, stronger person hurting someone smaller and weaker is appalling. Almost as appalling as him getting away with it.

Finally, well done Kathy Griffin. It is about time someone addresses this issue exactly how it should have been from the very beginning and not in some half a$$ed code, so they would not upset that little waste of space Chris Brown. I completely agree with her, plus she is hilarious.

  2. Jeane says:

    *standing ovation*

    Nice outfit BTW!

  3. Cece says:

I love how classy Brown and Diddy are. Lets blame someone else for our actions. Now instead of grabbing her hands, if that did in fact happen, we punch her in the face over and over again. Great idea Chris. Why aren’t there more men like you? I’m also so amazed how men are always aware of how much stronger they are than a woman and then some will justify hitting them. Fair fight? I’ll take Chris on. I won’t even fight dirty.

  4. Sara Tinely says:

I love Kathy! She’s so funny and really brave.

  5. FF says:

There’s this longstanding belief that Rihanna is rich. Uhm no, her RECORD COMPANY is getting rich off of her but I don’t think she’s seeing as much of the money as we think.

That’s where freebies come in handy.

    Kathy Griffin for the Win!!
I have always loved her, and will always lean towards her way of seeing the Hollywood side of things.

  7. Bodhi says:

I LOVE Kathy! She is hilarious! I agree with everything execpt LL being off limits

I am sick and tired of woman who think its ok for a women to put thier hands a man and the man should stand back..Everybody is human and has got feelings..Nobody has the right disrepect the other person or thier body period..The minute someone does that, the so called “fairness” goes out the window..You should not dish out what you cant take period and there is no excuse..if you cant, dont start it in the first place..If both put their hands on each other which i believe, then both were WRONG..Wether one got hit more than the other TOO BAD because the minute she put her hands on him she disrepected him and should not have expected anything less becasue she is the woman..I am sorry but i am woman, and as a woman i am not going to go around hitting my boyfriend and expect him to stand back..Respect goes both ways period and whatever sex you are is no excuse to start crying for fairness when things dnt go you way!!!!!

  9. waaaahh says:

LOVE kathy. have seen in her perform a few times live, she is great!

  10. jennifer says:

whatever – you seriously need to educate yourself. I’ve read a lot of your comments lately, and you are incredibly misguided. You’re right, no one should put their hands on another person, male or female. But you don’t pound the ever loving crap out of someone when they are physically incapable of ever fighting back fairly. If he had slapped her away, held her arms down (assuming of course she did hit him in the first place) and tried to defend himself, fine. But he beat her – he didn’t fight back, HE VIOLENTLY BEAT HER. He didn’t stop after one blow, he beat her into unconsciousness, ie he was no longer trying to “defend” himself, he was trying to put her in the hospital.

I know there’s no point trying to discuss this with you because as I say I’ve read all your comments and you don’t even pretend to listen to others, but I seriously hope you get some help.

  11. Feebee says:

@whatever, not condoning a woman hitting a man but have you ever seen a man looking like Rihanna did after taking a beating from a woman? For a man to use maximum force on a unarmed woman is like firing a bazooka to fend off a knife welding person 20 feet away. Does not compute no matter how you look at it.

Kathy Griffin is the only one so far with the balls to put this in perspective. I did not hear strong words from other women about this case, just some half assed general comments about domestic abuse in general. Kathy may be right and the decline of the women’s movement is a shame.

  12. Enonymous says:

    Well said jennifer.

  13. Pete says:

Pretty bad-ass of her to condemn Chris Brown and call out celebrities like Diddy for their fuckery on this matter. Jesus, did Diddy not see the drastic differences in the “injuries,” where Brown only got bruises on his knuckles from beating the hell out of her?! Even if she did smack him, the only force he could use was defensive violence. What he did was aggressive. And I thought the fool said, “Well, we weren’t there so we can never really know.”

  14. Pete says:

Also, on the whole man vs. woman physical thing: do men and women compete against each other in professional sports? Of course not! To even seriously consider that would be laughable and yet there are fools that seriously believe a woman could just beat up a man without a serious advantage like a weapon? Please.

  15. dovesgate says:

Well, its Hollywood. What did you really expect? Many of them have egos the size of Texas and every single one is conditioned to gloss over anything embarrassing.

None of them called Tom Cruise an idiot for doing his couch jumping, none of them said anything when Russell Crowe was chucking telephones, no one said anything when Brandy killed someone in an accident. Even when you look at the music industry as seperate from Hollywood, no one stepped forward about the deaths of Tupac, Biggie Smalls, Jam Master Jay from Run DMC, Busta Rhymes’ bodyguard, and thats just a few. These people just look the other way. And if they can do that with people losing their lives, why in the world would you expect them to take a stand against domestic violence?

Shameful, but this is the reality.

  16. whatever says:

well people who dnt like my point of view are entitled to thier opinion and i respect that but dnt call me undecuated especially if you were not there that night..I am going to continue talking about this matter and will contiune expressing my opinion and you calling me names is NOT going to change that..I dnt for second believe that he violently attacked her and again refuse to believe that those humps of her forehead came from him beating the shit out her…wether a woman has a weapon or not, that does not excuse her to behave like an animal and not expect nothing in return..You cannot start a war without weapons and expect not to be killed..

  17. whatever says:

oh, have any of you here been in a lamboguine???? try re-acting some of the crap in that report and tell how far you will get??? even with the best directors you will not get it right!!!

  18. Enonymous says:

whatever, were YOU there that night? Because for someone who is convinced that your precious Chris Brown did not touch Rhianna and come here and give lectures to people about it, you better have been there and have witnessed it personally, or maybe you have, Chris Brown is that you? If not, then seriously put a sock in it because you are embarrassing our gender, IF you are indeed a woman.

  19. the original kate says:

love kathy…i think she is very smart, very ballsy and totally hilarious! i’d love to see her in concert.

@ whatever: just curious, but where do you think those bruises and stuff on rhianna’s face came from?

  20. Tia C says:

Viva Kathy!! As many others here have said, it’s about time someone called it what it is.

And regarding the “whatever” saga – it’s best not to engage with those who are either mentally ill or mentally challenged in some way, as that person obviously is. Not worth it.

  21. MSat says:

So…if I understand “whatever” correctly, then if a 2-year-old smacks a 12-year-old, it is perfectly ok for that 12 year old to turn around and beat the hell out of a toddler because she started it?

“She started it” is NEVER an acceptable excuse – not when you’re 12, and not when you’re 19. Not ever.

And anyway- she didn’t start it.

We’re all still waiting for your proof. Come on – what’re waiting for? Post it!

  22. ! says:

Love how whatever says “We weren’t there that night”. We don’t have to be. THE BLOOD SPLATTERS INSIDE THE CAR TOLD ALL

  23. ! says:

And no matter if someone starts it or not, you don’t “finish” it by pulverizing their face. If I attacked my boyfriend, you know what he’d do? He’s got a foot of height, 80+ lbs, and a lot of arm muscle on me. He’d probably grab me in a bear hug and make me stop attacking. He would not harm me in return because “I’d started it”. Tit for tat does NOT fly here, especially when the two people are so unevenly matched!

The boy had BRUISES on his knuckles from beating her! Do you have any idea how hard you have to pound the bones in someone’s face to get bruises? Holy crap!

  24. ! says:

Don’t let the issues of “feminism” make you think that its wrong to acknowledge that women on average are smaller and less likely to be able to take a man on. Sure, I could find a man who was my match, and I could take him. But on the average, almost any man who approaches me is going to have an advantage.

I really have to stop reading this threads. The “you can’t piss off your man” mentality is driving me nuts. Why don’t we extend that theory to every aspect of our lives, and just never piss anyone off ever. I mean, ’cause if you do, they have every right to beat your face in…isn’t that right, whatever?

  25. daniel says:

love kathy and “whatever” I too have been reading your comments, are you like 13 years old? I mean really, try engaging your brain before opening your mouth, lol!

  26. Jacks says:

The only thing more annoying than Whatever’s comments are her ridiculous spelling errors… unintelligent opinions that one can barely read. @Msat – I really like your analogy – that’s a good way to make the comparison IF Rihanna did in fact hit him first.

  27. j. ferber says:

Yeah, Whatever is really getting on my nerves with her virulent defense of Brown.

  28. Valensi says:

This woman is so amazingly badass. Bravo.

  29. charlie says:

I like Kathy and agree that Chris Brown is a bully and a thug. But one thing…Kathy looks like Baby Jane Hudson in that outfit lol.

  30. Ana says:

Okay let’s say that Rihanna did hit Chris Brown. He could have just as easily left her on the side of the road instead of beating her to a pulp THEN leaving her.
Wasn’t the report leaked saying that it wasn’t the first time he had been violent with her?
Chris did not have any marks on him like Rihana did.
So even if she did hit him or push all his buttons or whatever he is still a MAN that is capable of inflicting way more harm than she could on him.
“I dnt for second believe that he violently attacked her and again refuse to believe that those humps of her forehead came from him beating the shit out her…”
How can you see the picture and not believe that happened? Have you ever been hit by a man? Because I have. I have had a man headbutt me. It didn’t knock him out but it did me. I also had a lump on my forehead about the size of an egg. I’m not saying that Chris heatbutted her but obviously he did something. So it is possible to get lumps like that.

“he didn’t fight back, HE VIOLENTLY BEAT HER. He didn’t stop after one blow, he beat her into unconsciousness, ie he was no longer trying to “defend” himself, he was trying to put her in the hospital.”
^This is absolutely correct! Couldn’t have said it better myself.
So if Rihanna did hit Chris then it was his job to get out of the abusive relationship. He should’ve done the right thing and dumped her, got out of the unhealthy relationship and be glad that he wasn’t the woman on the recieving end of abusive.
But we all know what he did.
So there whatever. All your theories are out of the window. Although I don’t think that you will understand unless you are ever the victum of abuse. And no matter your ignorance I sincerely hope you never have to find out.

Am I the only one on this board who CAN’T STAND this woman and finds her more controversial and less funny?

And why is she hanging out with Herpes Hilton lately anyway?
