Miley Cyrus has done a lot of stupid things in the last year. Posing for all sorts of photos in her bra and underwear. Posing for racist photos where she’s slanting her eyes. Dating a 20-year-old personality-less model when she’s fifteen. Acting like a diva on the set of her show. Miley has gotten all sorts of negative publicity this year, yet Hannah Montana is as popular as ever, so it clearly hasn’t affected her all that negatively. Of course that hasn’t stopped Miley from complaining about the bad publicity – though not taking ownership for doing the things that got her bad press.
And she claims she’s actually a whole lot smarter than we all think.
“I almost feel like people think of me as dumb,” said Cyrus, who recently created her own personal “Rumor Patrol” blog on MileyCyrus.com.
“I’m like, I’m smarter than you think. You know, I understand what you’re trying to do. It’s all a mind game and what not,” she said.
Cyrus said that in general, it is difficult being a kid in Disney’s stable of child stars because it leads to a squeaky-clean reputation that any teenage girl would find tough to measure up to.
“I feel like some people will almost think of me as a joke because of it,” she said.

I checked out Miley’s “Rumor Patrol” on her blog, and luckily nothing’s there so far. I say “luckily” for her sake – I have a feeling it will do nothing more than provide more critical fodder.
Miley hasn’t done anything that’s ever made me think she’s smart. She makes a lot of typical teenager mistakes, but she’s doing it in the public eye. I don’t think she’s necessarily dumb; she’s 16. Most of us make some bad choices at that age. And we don’t have the burden (or the advantage, depending on how you view it) of having In Touch and Us Weekly documenting our every move. But Miley is average at best; I doubt she has any special intellect or talent that’s going to push her to the top of the industry. And I think she’s going to have an especially hard time transitioning to non-family friendly roles. Too much of her image is intertwined with Hannah Montana. She hasn’t branched out enough: her only non-Hannah roles have all been voice work.
No one’s playing a “mind game” with Miley. It is all a game, and she’s just as eager a player as everyone else.

A smarter person would know when to STFU about how supposedly ‘smarter than we think’ they are for a start, and let their actions do the representing.
She makes her own point redundant.
Not buying it Miley. You’re 16, silly and ignorant like all your ilk are and that’s just the bottom line. I’ll give mad props to her handlers, my local wal-mart outlet has her face plastered on no less than 200 different products including produce.
Well, she should be “smart” enough to know that “actions speak louder than words”!
She is surrounded daily by a posse of “Yes” people which I’m sure she loves. I’d bet that where she comes from there’s not too many bright people so she gauges her intelligence on them.

Being smarter than we think she is, doesn’t really say much for her intelligence considering how low we set the bar.
If you need to throw out the phrase “I’m smarter than you think” at basically any point in order to justify your intelligence, you’re definitely NOT smarter than I think.
She has money and is alive is all she can brag on.. and the ‘alive’ is iffy given her privilaged circumstances to buy, travel, have anything she desires within the law, great allowances made to lapse and fail by her foolishness, by egotisitcal parents which lack any normal, sensible smarts themselves. They ALL believe their publicity. Take the money and fame away and let’s see them shine.
Even if she is smart she isn’t wise. My dad has a good explanation:
Being smart is knowing a tomato is a fruit, being wise is knowing not to put one into a fruit salad.
I don’t doubt that she’s smarter than most people think, but her personal mistakes have all been highly publicized, so, you have to consider she is not much different than any other 16 year old. As for her future, I think the girl actually has talent that will take her beyond the HM phase. Her latest CD “Breakout” is not released as HM but as Miley Cyrus and is actually pretty good. Play it for someone who doesn’t know anything about HM and I bet they will be impressed. It shows real potential for her singing career.

The fact that she’s all, “Oh, I know how this works, it’s a mind game. Well, I’ll show you!” just reaffirms to me what a pretentious BRAT this child is.
I currently hate this girl so much that I had to google the phrase “Miley Cyrus thinks she’s so smart” and voila – your blog showed up among the list. So here I am, ready to rant and rave about a girl who wouldn’t matter to most people by the time she gets to her 20s. We’d predicted that about Britney and we were right, and more likely than not we’ll be right too this time.
Anyway. Yes, I agree she’s average at best. The sad thing is she clearly believes she knows more than we think she knows. I know it shouldn’t annoy it, but in my mind she basically represents all the teenagers I have to deal with all day, the ones who think they know so much and I know so little and who are, unfortunately, physically bigger than I am.
