I wrote about Taylor Swift’s trademarking binge on Sunday, and I mentioned in that post that Sunday was actually Tay-Tay’s 26th birthday. I wondered aloud if Calvin Harris would give her a ring for her birthday or whether she would even want a ring. I was surprised that so many of you are CalTay Truthers, and that you think that their for-PR-purposes-only relationship fizzled out months ago. From the tabloid reporting coming out of New Zealand and Australia the past few weeks, Calvin WAS with Taylor for a few days during the last leg of her tour though. And then on her birthday, she flew into LA and wouldn’t you know? She met up with Calvin and they celebrated her b-day together.
Taylor Swift celebrated her 26th birthday with boyfriend Calvin Harris on Sunday, Dec. 13, at a huge, Christmas-themed party. The bash, which was held at Apple executive Jimmy Iovine’s Malibu home, served many purposes, being a holiday party and a birthday celebration for both Swift and Iovine’s daughter Jessica.
“Taylor was given a cake and they sang ‘Happy Birthday,” one source tells Us Weekly of the festivities. Swift’s boyfriend Harris and her mom, Andrea Swift, were also present at the lavish yuletide party, along with a couple of other high profile names.
“Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton were there and they looked really, really cute,” our spy continued.
Several photographs of the amazing party showed up online shortly after the party finished.
So… Taylor and Calvin are still happening. And he didn’t plan a party for her, he just escorted her to a party that Jimmy Iovine hosted. So… probably no engagement. But maybe she’s hoping for a ring for Christmas. Do people still do that, get engaged at Christmas?

STILL believe this relationship is PR. She needs the public to believe she’s just not a serial dater that only can last 2 months and also needs new material for her album. She can’t just keep writing about Harry Styles. Calvin loves the attention that comes with dating the biggest pop act right now.
I love that she attended an apple executive party. I feel like it’s sketchy after that big to do about Apple vs Taylor.

I actualyl think that they make sense as a couple. I think they will last.
Even if they don’t, I bet it’ll be one of those relationships that have a lasting positive effect on her. So she doesn’t date anymore Styles or Gyllenhaals types.
What’s wrong with them? Gyllenhaal seems like a nice guy, actually comes across nicer and more intelligent than Calvin. Harry Was just a teenage kid when they dated, why was she dating an 18-19 year old in the first place?
And….when he breaks up with her, she will become a reborn virgin for probably the tenth or eleventh time.

Yeah I think they just made a decision to lay low for awhile, as they were making their relationship too much of a media circus. (Particularly Calvin, with his penchant for defending his damsel in distress with knight-in-shining-armor rescue tweets).

I can’t see her and Calvin lasting. Their schedules will make it very hard even though she says she is taking a break from the spotlight. How long can that last? Then they will both be working on their own stuff. Unless Calvin does the odd DJ gig and tags along with her mostly. He can afford to do that.
I really want to like Taylor Swift and there are a lot of things i find admirable about what she has achieved, but something about her is off putting. She seems so phony even though everyone who knows her seems to say she’s the second coming. I have to admit I followed the People link to see the pics. Frankly the whole party was over the top and disgusting. With everything going on in the world–all of the people who have no homes or food or who are living in war zones…this guy puts together a party for all his rich and famous friends with live penguins in a pen, and a snow slide…in Los Angeles. I realize people need to have fun but somehow when I looked at the pics they brought to mind Marie Antoinette and her let them eat cake moment. The 1% just doesn’t get it.

I think this is a showmance, she needed a high profile romance to save her reputation at the time of being clingy, crazy, and a serial monogamist who used her exes for song material. I mean she was mortified by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s jokes about her and she needed to save face. He needed it because he had an EPIC breakup with Rita Ora splashed all across the press-she cheated on him with Biebs and he showed his douchiness by famously not allowing her to sing the song they made together because she dumped him so he needed to save face. They will stay ‘together’ awhile to protect their reps because they are both so image focused but after that (prob around the release of her new album or right after to gain goodwill and lots of media attention and pity to help her top the charts and sell mags) it will be a peaceful mutual breakup because Taylor and her legal team won’t allow him to do what he did to Rita Ora who kinda had it coming.
