For anyone unfamiliar with Vogue’s 73 Questions series, an “interviewer” off camera follows a celebrity around their home/place of employ, asking 73 questions in a single take. Kaiser covered Blake Lively’s, which was one of the better ones. Other popular videos in the series are Sarah Jessica Parker, Daniel Radcliff and Lupita Nyong’o. To promote their February cover story with Ben Stiller and Penelope Cruz, Vogue decided to have Derek Zoolander appear in the accompanying 73 Questions video. Here are some of the funnier ones and the video is below:
What do you think of Brooklyn?
I hope they find a cureWhat’s your favorite website?
That’s kind of up to the spider. How would you describe your relationship with Hansel?
Probably with words.Do you have any pets?
I have a schnoodle, named Karl Doggerfeld. And a cockapoo named Bark Jacobs.Oh, you mean like Marc Jacobs?
Oh my God! Yes!What are you reading right now?
The teleprompter.Who would you like to have dinner with, living or dead?
Living, definitely.Hey, do you mind if I do some reps on one of these machines?
No, these are reserved for Anna when she comes. What are your favorite curse words?
Oh! The ones that turn you into a frog until a princess kisses you. What is your all time favorite look?
Hmm, looks are like children; there’s always one favorite. Right now, it’s called Bit CoinCan we see Bit Coin?
No, it’s completely virtual. But – it’s very valuable. I don’t really understand it.What’s your favorite cocktail?
The one with Tom Cruise. The live action one.
Other than the kinetic aspect leaving me a little buzzed, I kind of like the series. Vogue doesn’t pretend the questions are spontaneous, but you are supposed to get a different – albeit crafted and rehearsed – side to the celebrity. Promoting Zoolander in this format is kind of brilliant. Between the runway appearance at Paris Fashion Week, the behind-the-scenes with Anna Wintour, the Fiat commercial and now this, the marketing for the film has been great; hopefully the movie lives up to it. I think Derek Zoolander works best when playing off someone and the Zoe Kravitz’s cameo is a good example of that.
I assume the “Anna” of which he speaks in respect to the gym equipment is La Wintour; you know she would dismantle a power rack if she broke a nail. I love his favorite website answer being left up to the spider, because that is how internet searches feel sometimes.
For sentiment sake, you can watch Bowie’s scene from the first Zoolander here.

Cute. I liked the first movie, though that’s about all I remember about it except the line “really, really good looking.”
I’m on the other end of the spectrum… my husband and I quote or somehow reference the original all the time.
me too. love it.
One of my all-time favorite movies. Up there with Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Monty Python movies, Joe Dirt, and Airplane in my book!!!
Funny! I’m actually looking forward to seeing this.
I think the answers are funny. I can’t wait to see this movie. I just wish Stiller and Wilson would do another Starsky and Hutch film too.
I loved the Starsky and Hutch movie too. Satire and nostalgia at its best. Unpopular opinion, but I hate Zoolander and won’t be seeing this.
Yes to Starsky and Hutch!
LOL!
I love it! Hard to pick a favourite answer but Karl Doggerfeld and Bark Jacobs made me genuinely laugh out loud.
Choupette is not happy 😀
I did a spit take starting with “Brooklyn” and each answer is funnier than the next. Very well crafted/written.
Agree with @Hecate… the marketing has been inspired. I really hope it isn’t better than the actual movie.
I, too, am hoping this movie lives up to its hype. The first one is one of my all-time favorites, so there are big shoes to fill here. But I did scream out loud when I saw Mugatu make his reappearance in the Z2 trailer, so I’m optimistic.
You know I’m sad when I see him now. Joan Rivers loved his parents(the comedic geniuses) but said Ben was not nice or respectful in real life. He was spoiled, rude, and impolite behind the scenes. That made me sad.
I know a lot of people loved and respected Joan… But as someone who found her overbearing and crude, and since we get no other reports of Ben being anything but nice, I kind of have trouble believing this. Are there on set rumours about him acting like a jerk?
@Vauvert
Don’t most stars get those kind of rumors anyway? I feel like it’s the easiest tabloid story to make up because most stars are probably somewhat demanding so it’s easy to exaggerate and make demanding into batshit crazy and then there’s a story. I always take these “crazy” stories with a grain of salt though cause I’ve heard the stories about JLo but a friend worked on American Idol and said she was cool…plus I feel like there would be legitimate video on TMZ if stars threw as many hissy fits as they are alleged to do in the tabs. The only rumor I ever heard about Ben was that he doesn’t talk to anyone but…maybe he’s just a quiet type of dude on set?
I’ve heard negative things about Ben for a long time, but nothing very specific and nothing first hand, so who knows. He always seems kind of tense to me, but he does have the same people willing to work with him over and over, so maybe he’s perfectly nice.
Joan was obviously cool with Kelly Osborn who is the epitome of a spoiled, rude, impolite brat so her judgement was a little suspect. I mean I’ve heard a few Ben is rude rumors before but I think they are the same rumors have floated around about most celebs and never seemed that insane (like he doesn’t talk to people which can very well mean he’s just a quiet dude).
I am totally looking forward to this film even though it’s so dumb. Love this, love Ben, and love that Zoe played along.
It’s a little too much although there were some funny answers. But I really can’t wait to see the sequel. I rewatched the first one this weekend and forgot Bowie was in in 🙁
Matilda’s face when he steps up to judge the walk off is hilarious and the exact face I made the first time.
The answers are over the top stupid which is what makes them fabulous! Zoolander is a delightful diversion from reality and I can’t wait to watch this sequel 🙂
This is funny. Bark Jacobs was hilarious. I really have big hopes for this movie.
I didn’t think it was funny at all.
Very funny. And I totally read the answers in Zoolander’s voice. I hope the movie is good.
Can’t wait to see it! I liked his dinner with someone living lollllll.
This interview was funny!
Unfortunately for Zoolander, it’s going to be overshadowed by Deadpool which comes out the same day. Not only has Deadpool’s Marketing been Oscar Worthy it’s been going on far longer and to top it off it’s a movie that fans have been waiting for, for sometime and from people who have already seen Deadpool and insiders…it’s actually going to live up to the hype. We shall see though. I just think the marketing for Zoolander is a little too late.
I really REALLY don’t think the audiences for those overlap.
Deadpool is a comedic character. Yes he’s a super hero but he has a funny/sarcastic side to him so yes those audiences do over lap. Just because he’s a super hero doesn’t change that. In fact the tracking just came out for both movies and Deadpool is ahead by $35 million…so yea.
He’s not as funny as I would like him to be.
Cannot WAIT for this. CANNOT WAIT.
