God this movie looks so, so terrible.

I still stand by my opinion – DC is entirely to blame for superhero fatigue. Marvel puts an effort into making quality productions and it shows, most of their films and series are very well received by the critics. DC is just so cheesy and tacky and uuuugh I hate you DC, I hate you, I hate you, I HATE YOU!!!!

    • rose says:

      It’s not that serious lmao.

    • Red32 says:

Also, I feel like Marvel is better at casting for the most part, and doesn’t take themselves too seriously. All the DC movies are dark and colorless and serious. It works for Batman, but Superman and Wonder Woman?

      • Josefina says:

Oh God yes. I’m tired of super serious superhero films. Say what you want about Marvel, but they are self-aware. They are always making fun of themselves in their movies.

Nolan’s Batman trilogy was good (so overrated though), but that’s about it. Let’s keep superhero films classic explosive fun, ok? It’s hard to take these people seriously when they were funny costumes and shoot beams out of their bodies.

      • Emma - The JP Lover says:

@Josefina, who wrote: “Nolan’s Batman trilogy was good (so overrated though), but that’s about it. Let’s keep superhero films classic explosive fun, ok? It’s hard to take these people seriously when they were funny costumes and shoot beams out of their bodies.”

I actually thought the two Tim Burton “Batman” films with Michael Keaton were really good. I also loved “Man of Steel.”

      • Rice says:

Unpopular opinion but i thought Man of Steel was utter tripe and boring.

    • funcakes says:

Just like Hollywood to take a success, oversaturated the market and leave the franchise for dead after sucking the last drop of blood.
No wonder Ben and Henry look so pissed most of the time. This bomb is going to stick up planet earth.
The only way to escape this mess is for one of them to fake their death then return to civilization with a hard luck story.

    • Mia4s says:

Meh, I’m over both DC and Marvel. This DC cheese is one reason (WTF?) for sure, but Marvel is generic, no stakes, dull, and all around lowest common denominator.

      Whoever wins, we lose.

    • Liv says:

Affleck is not Batman. I’m glad I made the choice to not see the film some time ago. Not disappointed anymore.

    • JenniferJustice says:

At least Marvel makes an effort to be funny. The comedy is intentional. DC, on the otherhand, tries to be serious, so much so it becomes humerous unintentially (campy) and they aren’t even in on the joke. We all knew Affleck was going to ruin Batman, so I’m not surprised. I knew it would be cheesy and Affleck is the ham that goes with that cheese.

    • uninspired username says:

“DC is entirely to blame for superhero fatigue.”

There’s been ONE movie so far in their new universe though.

    • Abbess Tansy says:

I think blame could be shared amongst DC and others holding the licensing rights to Marvel’s and DC’s other stable of heroes like Spider-Man and the X-Men. They’re flooding the market with substandard movies.

    • Adrien says:

I super love the Batman, Nolan series. They were dark and super serious. I still enjoy watching them years later. We will never have a villain like Heath Ledger’s The Joker.

      • Lozface says:

They’re up there as my all time favourite movies. Everything about those movies was superb: the cast, the script, the direction. I can re watch them over and over again! Oh and of course it’s Christian Bale as batman. Doesn’t get any better than that. Although I loved Michael Keaton too!

      • alex_r says:

This! Nolan series is in my all-time favorite movies too. They are just great movies, especially the first two. And frankly if it didn’t have the superhero element, TDK probably would have been the Best Picture of the Year at ever award show.

      • Lucy2 says:

I love those films too. I think those make it doubly disappointing that they rebooted Batman so quickly, and in such a crappy way.

  2. funcakes says:

    Holy scenery chewing, Batman!

    • Birdix says:

Remember MST 3K? They’d have a field day with this one.

    • Livvers says:

Well the Burton Batman films were rather scenery-chewing too (although I don’t remember if it was Keatonbat who did the chewing, was it just everyone else?), but there was a self-awareness to it that is probably missing from this film.

That said, I don’t entirely disagree with Batfleck’s argument in this teaser. In a world where superpowers are real, rooting for the most powerful dude in the world requires either having faith in his inherent goodness, or else a deep wish to align yourself with the most powerful. I side-eye both of those positions.

      • Harry Lime says:

Nicholson chewed the scenery and then some.

      • Emma - The JP Lover says:

@Livvers, who wrote: “Well the Burton Batman films were rather scenery-chewing too (although I don’t remember if it was Keatonbat who did the chewing, was it just everyone else?), but there was a self-awareness to it that is probably missing from this film.”

There was no ‘scenery chewing’ by Michael Keaton. I think he is my favorite Bruce Wayne / Batman because he handled the complicated duplicity brilliantly without being too morose. Jack Nicholson was bigger than life because the Joker ‘is’ over-the-top and bigger than life. Danny DeVito gave one of his best performances ever as The Penguin in the second and last Tim Burton / Michael Keaton “Batman” film … which, of course, also starred Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman.

My second favorite Batman is (don’t laugh) Val Kilmer. I think he and Michael Keaton really nailed the complicated, conflicted duplicity the best.

  3. Lama Bean says:

Tina Fey’s Palin impression gave me (and the show) life! She’s always spot on with that.

  4. rose says:

Looks cheese as hell but im there.

  5. Tiffany says:

I think this film will be the career killer for all involved. It looks awful.

    • Josefina says:

I don’t know. If Affleck recovered after Gigli and Daredevil, he’ll get away with this one too. Zack Snyder is the same as Michael Bay but without the unexplainable box office mega-success. Henry Cavill, maybe, but it’s not like he has much of a career to kill.

      • Tiffany says:

But think about at the pace it took for Affleck to rebound. Will we still care in 10 years. The only thing interesting about him is from a gossip standpoint.

I am praying to the cinema gods that this ends Sender. He really just ruins cinema.

    • uninspired username says:

      Marvel stans are wild.

  6. Karen says:

Honestly, is Batman seriously talking about murdering someone because he MIGHT not be a friendly? Hi, Trump!

“How dare he stop the people who followed him to earth from killing him (and earth). He should have never crossed the border and came to Earth. And coming here and taking the hero jobs from Americans. He can destroy the world. What a loser. Americans can do that better. Let’s build a bigger wall and send the bill to the aliens! “

  7. gwen says:

It appears that Ben & Brad Pitt are seeing the same plastic surgeon.

    • JenniferJustice says:

Ha! I thought that as soon as I saw the header pic. Hilarious! We now have not one but two bloated, filled up faces. At least Pitt is still fit and trim. Affleck has moobs and has to wear gurdles and spanx on set. That makes me smile.

    • LeAnn Stinks says:

LOL!! I was thinking the same thing. Ben’s face looks a little “tight” in that picture with the hoodie.

  8. The Original Mia says:

So much scenery chewing from Batfleck, and his reasons for wanting to destroy Superman…good Lord, man! The fallout from this is going to be glorious. Suicide Squad looks 10X better. And that’s not saying much.

  9. lucy2 says:

This looks dreadful. Man of Steel was little more than a bunch of CGI destruction, this looks like more of the same. And sorry, all I see is Ben Affleck, not Bruce Wayne or Batman.

    • Giddy says:

I don’t see Batman or Bruce Wayne either. In the scene where Ben is in his vest I feel like I can practically feel his corset strangling him.

      • lucy2 says:

LOL, I just went and looked again, and you’re so right. He’s probably thinking “suck it in, suck it in!” the whole time.

    • me says:

Man of Steel was on TV last week so I watched it. Man it was pretty bad. I forced myself to finish the movie but it did not due justice to the Superman legacy.

  10. als says:

This is insulting to the audiences. There are many TV shows right now that bring great action and great drama. Why pay money to see this?

  11. word says:

The only thing good about this new Batman vs. Superman movie was that it was mostly filmed in Detroit. A great city that needs a boost. I love the fact that Ben has been sporting a lot of Detroit gear the last year or so.

  12. Cara says:

Good Lord, his FACE! Dude needs to grow his beard back out until all that work settles.

  13. Green Is Good says:

Ugh. “Batfleck”. This movie is gonna be stinko.

  14. Miss M says:

    Hahahaha

  15. Skins says:

    Starring Ben Affleck’s jacked face

  16. Cc says:

This will be a good movie to watch while getting drunk with friends.

  17. Babas Ghanoush says:

All I can say is that I’m very happy one of my fav actors, Matthias Schoenaerts, turned down the Batman role in this and the coming two films to do much, much worthier films.

    • Tiffany says:

I…did not know he was an option. It would have been battle of the handsome if he said yes.

      • Baba Ghanoush says:

He was offered three batman films starting with B v S; he confirmed in some interview a while back, and so did Michael Roskam. I would have suffered through but obsessively watched every single Batman film he was in. 🙂

  18. Sam says:

Anyone who knows anything about the industry knows that out of all the Superhero movies coming out that the best one of them all is actually coming out first: Deadpool. Batman V Superman will make money sure but the quality of it right now is just god awful terrible and I can’t see how that’s suddenly going to change when it hits the silver screen.

  19. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

Every time I see Affleck & his new face regarding this upcoming stinker of a movie, I think he’s Superman. He just doesn’t seem like Batman. He looks more like Clark Kent.

  20. TotallyBiased says:

That’s Batman? I thought Supes was going face to face with RoboCop.

  21. Bread and Circuses says:

Ben looks so much better in the teaser, with his signs-of-age face, than he does in that last photo, with his signs-of-botox face.

If the studio demanded he “refresh” his looks for the publicity tour, they did him a great disservice.

    • Pepper says:

I don’t think it was the studio, I think he was trying to look better to deflect from the rumours of his drinking and drug use. Of course all the fillers did was give him coke bloat face which isn’t exactly helpful.

  22. Emma - The JP Lover says:

I loved “Man of Steel” with Henry Cavill. I really don’t think the trailers are that bad. I think this film might surprise people and actually be good.

  23. Justwastingtime says:

Look in the urban dictionary for the definition of ” jacked up”

  24. bee says:

Ben Affleck trying for intensity and instead just looking like he needs to take a trip to the bathroom.

  25. Hannah says:

I believe Perry introduced his former castmates via video link from London.

  26. lile says:

His face looks SO WEIRD. He should just change his last name to Kardashian.

  27. cityofZ says:

AHH this is glorious,Ben Affleck is doing the exact same voice he did on SNL back in 2008/2009 when he did a parody of Keith Olbermann. http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/countdown-with-keith-olbermann/n12348

    • AnotherDirtyMartini says:

I couldn’t even make it through that video, ha!

His voice sounded crazy in the clip where he and Superman are threatening each other near the batmobile. They’ve used some kind of voice changing program & he sounds like he’s growling, hideous
