We haven’t covered Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip in a few months, so here you go. They were out and about last night in Stockholm for the Swedish Sports Gala. Sofia is about six months pregnant in these photos – the palace insists that she’s due in April, although I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Sofia and her sister-in-law, Crown Princess Victoria, gave birth within a few weeks or each other. Victoria and Sofia have looked equally pregnant from the beginning, but Victoria’s due date is in March.
Sofia’s dress in these photos is a customized version of the Martha dress from Swedish design house Greta. I like that she’s covered up but it doesn’t feel pinched, you know? She was a “glamour model” back in the day but the royal stylists have pushed her towards more conservative clothing, especially after the wedding. It works on her, and I think her darker hair makes her look more sophisticated too. Mostly, I’m just happy to see a pregnant royal woman who isn’t wearing a miniskirt and flashing everybody.
One minor thing… I like big, statement earrings, especially when they’re against a blank canvas like this Greta gown. But these earrings look kind of cheap and dated.

Victoria also announced she won’t be taking time off pre- and post-birth. Last time she had Estelle around 48 hours(or less) since her previous engagement.
She’s a pro.
She’ll be a great monarch for her country–she already seems like a great wife, mother and heir. I’ve always had a soft spot for her–the dyslexia, her eating disorder struggles, her years-long devotion to Daniel and their fight to be able to get married and so on. She was born a princess but she hasn’t always had a fairy tale life–it’s nice to see how it all seems to have come together for her.
Her outfit is horrible. Pregnant or not, that peter pan collar and those earrings are doing her no favors. Remove those, let the skirt be ankle length (the skirt is dragging on the floor as is!) and the outfit is okay.
She looks lovely – her stylist should go have a word with Katy Bucket.
She’s lovely and they always seem so genuinely happy together. And it looks like he has that awful neck beard under control, too. 🙂
That said, Peter Pan collars don’t look good on ANY adult and those earrings are clearly dragging her earlobes down–not a good look.

I like exactly zero things about her outfit, but I award full points for her standing upright, not jamming her hands in her pockets, not holding her clutch in front of her like some kind of bedazzled chastity belt, and nobody is fondling the bump. I also think it’s adorable that they are holding hands.

Dress looks to me like it wants to be a day dress with 2 feet cut off the length. Not an evening dress in any way.
She looks elegant and comfortable. Indeed, she and her husband look comfortable in the spotlight as well as with each other. The hair and makeup are understated and lovely. I’m not a big fan of big earrings myself, but she needed a statement earring here with the plain dress.
